They play so loudly outside that they ruin the atmosphere for their diners and for the diners at the other nearby restaurants. I want to say that I do not live in California. I am just visiting. Maybe my expectations are too high but i wanted to leave a review to see if the owners care. The restaurant was dead when I came in at 7:15 on an OpenTable reservation. I could see 6 employees at the time and only 5 customers. Including me. The employees were more concerned about closing procedures than serving the customers. Very disappointed. I hope this in not the new normal or normal here because I am looking to move here in the close future and this is the only "decent" restaurant in the area besides the "Shores". I really don't want to have only one place to go to with good drinks and great food planed and supervised by a real chef. Btw I ordered a grey goose martini and they served me absolute... We stopped by for some drinks and appetizers with some friends last Sunday. There was some great live music that lured us in. The music was the only thing good about this place!! Our server, drinks and food were terrible. We had a young man as our server. There was a woman server that seemed to be giving great service. We wished we had her. Our drinks sat empty many times. I had to go inside to get a refill. Our ceviche was Terrible. The worst I've ever had in my life. There were about three peas sized pieces of shrimp and 2 tiny pieces of octopus. We held a private dinner after our wedding on the beach on one of the patios here at waterside. From start to finish it was amazing. Working with the owner to schedule the event was so easy and he was accommodating and helpful. We are from out of state and booked waterside although we had never been there. Our wedding meal was amazing the staff were helpful and fun and the food was delicious. Everything was ten times more then I could of ever imagined. And exactly the intimate easy going evening we wanted with our family. Thank you for a unforgettable dinner. I noticed a few reviews claiming the owner is racist towards Hispanic individuals. I do not believe this is true. Nearly my entire party of 25 were Hispanic besides about 5 individuals and the owner treated us amazing. Even provided us with a large Bluetooth speaker to play our own music which was all Spanish music. A group of us recently visited the Waterside Restaurant for the first time and our minds were absolutely blown! It is located beautifully with an amazing ocean view, wonderful music playing in an elegant atmosphere. The service was friendly and spot on. Our drinks were always filled and they checked on us just the right amount of times to see how we were doing without it feeling like they were on top of us. With all of that said I am delighted to say I am saving the best for last and that is the amazing food that was served! As a group we decided to order a variety of different dishes and share. We started with the Szechuan pork ribs, chicken wings and calamari. The ribs were outstanding and the special sauce was truly divine, the chicken wings were cooked to perfection with 3 different sauces on the side and the calamari was by far the best calamari we have ever had! Our mains were the slow braised short ribs, the Waterside cloppino and a fish special with pasta that were all to die for!!! Last but not least we ordered one of every dessert on the menu and each one was spectacular in its own right with the bread pudding being my personal favorite! We don't live close by but we will definitely be making the drive on a regular basis to continue to have the pleasure of this delicious and uplifting dining experience. read more

However, I've come here on a Friday night, and a band is playing, and it's still pretty fast. Unless you're asking for a drink to be served every 2 minutes on a busy night, I'd suggest bringing a jug to refill your own cup. The food is yummy. Decided to eat here as we preferred table service over waiting in line and ordering. Ordered a cocktail, which came fairly fast, then our waitress said she would bring some bread & be right back. However, she took our order and after about 40 minutes, our order arrived. I would have ordered appetizers if this was the way it was going down, but I felt tricked. She didn't come back to check and there were only 2 other tables. They also got there food same time just as us. My pasta special was great. What the heck happened? Was at Waterside on Thursday July 6th and our usual bartender was not there. (Savannah). We had Kimmie, and unfortunately, she just isn't the best, lacking skill, service, and an appearance I have come to expect from this restaurant. She looked like she just rolled out of bed, I view this place as upscale but she did not conform to the level of class I usually expect from here. To make it even worse my drink tasted awful and the 2 others I was sitting with got drinks other than what they had ordered. Where did this person come from? She definitely brings the whole place down. My bill wasn't even correct and for $72.00 I would think it should be, plus I paid for drinks that I did not get. My boyfriend and I came for Valentine's Day dinner and it was phenomenal. We started with lobster bisque soup and it was the best lobster bisque soup I've ever had. Even the bread was yummy! So soft and the herbs tasted great on it. The salad was fresh and delicious! My boyfriend got the steak entree and it was cooked to perfection. I had the lobster pasta and it was to die for! I gave them five stars for the braised short rib (needs salt though) with risotto and it was delicious, but after going there for breakfast for eggs Benedict last week, it's going to be difficult to go back (although I might for the braised short ribs). The hollandaise sauce was very bland and the Canadian bacon / ham or whatever it was was very difficult to eat (chewy with tough skin still on it, so I did not eat most of the ham. Any way, I'll be amazed if these guys are still in business in five years. My father swore by how good this place was. We tried it out when he was up here from AZ. What a disappointment. The waitress was rude and took forever to get severed. Last evening I took my dog Sox for dinner. I had a long day packing and no energy to cook. As usual, the food was fresh and delicious. The chefs are masters. They have my favorite wines and even a doggie meal and a fresh bowl of water for your Fido. The servers are wonderful and work hard to meet everyone's needs. Came to waterside for the first time today!! Loved the fish and chips the fries were so crispy which is my favorite type of fries!! The fish there is usually three, but I ate one before the picture . In my party there was a birthday so we got the free dessert and it was so good as we all got to try it. Service was also amazing we had some kids at our table and the waiter was so nice to bring them some coloring books to color while they were waiting for their food. I had the pleasure of dining in this restaurant overlooking the Harbor the other night. While the atmosphere was lovely, the cuisine was classic American with very little seafood. The clam chowder was stellar though and the prices reasonable, ranging between $20-32 for a full dinner plate. Unfortunately, the ingredients could have been better; all items tasted as if they were prepared fresh, however, the food was reminiscent of a Midwestern mom making something for Valentine's Day; nothing too fancy or high-end. The views, location, and service made the experience worth while and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good, homey meal. read more

Had a getaway weekend in Oxnard. Sunday morning we were browsing and decided to stop by Waterside. We came around 2-30pm they still had brunch menu. We wanted some seafood and cocktails but not anything related to breakfast cuz we had ours in hotel. Unfortunately they couldn't offer anything beside shrimp cocktail. We ended up paying $40 just for shrimps and 2 drinks. Shrimp presentation was very poor! Service was slow and it took them 20 minutes to wipe our table. I forgot how great this place. A friend who used to live in the 805 was visiting me for the weekend. Our favorite Sunday activity used to be hitting up the farmers market and having a drink in the area after we got our loot. SF was crowded during lunch rush so hopped over here. Not a bad option b. Great times. It was crowded up front, but there was seating towards the back. I didn't mind since it got us a little further from the live music. Didn't mind the music at all, but it was on the loud side. I was trying to have a conversation with my friend. We kicked our day with with a blood orange mimosa and a bloody mary. My drink was fantastic. My friend's had a strip of bacon included so of course I took half it. So good. I'm not much of a bloody mary fan. We shared the shrimp cocktail and crab benedict with potatoes. They were kind enough to split the portion since we said we were sharing it. Our picks were great. So delicious. Last straw. Won't be back. We've been coming here for years, through all the name changes and new owners and re-openings, etc. Food is okay, 3 stars. Service not always good, 2 stars. The last time we were there, we had a reservation for for the patio for 12:15 pm on a Sunday, to see the band, and they told us it would be at least a half hour wait, even though there was a table unoccupied. Our party of four had a fantastic meal at Waterside. We love the ambiance of the restaurant with water views from all of the seats in the restaurant. The decor is upscale and inviting. Their bar is centrally located in the restaurant to be able to enjoy the music on the patio and have a drink. One of our party needed to sit inside and we still had a great harbor view. The music on Sunday really added to the experiece of the beautiful sunny day. Our server Savannah was wonderful and answered all our inquies/request quickly and she had a wonderful disposition. Our food was delivered fast and tasted delcious. The fish and chips was lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. The fish was delicious. The fries that came with it were crispy and tasty. The ceviche also used excellant. The seasoning was deliciious, very savory. My friend said it was seasoned to perfection. The Dipping trio was very tasty. An excellent sharing appetizer and perfect as a light meal for one person. They also carry an excellent selections of wine, with my friend raving about the St. Helena's chardonnay. Overall, we had a lovely afternoon at the Waterside. With the location, good music and great food, it was a wonderful way to spend our Sunday. First time trying to try this place! The music was on point great band. But no service at all. We waited to be seated for 30min or so. Great seats by the band outside. But no one came to ask for our drink order or if we wanted bread. I looked around and other people that were seated after us already had drinks and food on the table. We waited about 20min.
