This was my first time visiting Waterside and what a wonderful experience. The location has a great view of the Channel Islands Harbor. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a covered table while the sun was shining. The service was on point and the staff were very attentive to our needs. I enjoyed the calamari appetizer and the club sandwich for lunch.

The service was great. Our server and the busser/assistant? were so nice and attentive. The restaurant is nice and has great views of the harbor. The happy hour had a couple of drinks, best deal, a 5$ draft modelo. There weren't any drinks I liked on the HH menu so I went for a sangria. Idk what was it in but it tasted terrible. The menu said it had St. Germain and I think orange vodka but it didn't taste like it had either of those. Seemed like mostly red wine... idk. And we decided to have "garlic" fries and charcuterie for one. I'll attach a picture of the charcuterie. I figure this may not be something popular to order but it was like something I made last minute with what I had in the fridge at home... there were spider webs in the grapes (which I understand is normal) But wash them off. And the one strawberry on it was mush. The garlic fries didn't taste like garlic, just like normal fries. I would not order anything I had again.

Great service, right on water, good music, GREAT FOOD! A perfect late Sunday morning destination.

Not a very good experience. We went with a large group for dinner. The service was pretty good. But many of the dishes we ordered were not prepared well. Many of my guests did not like the quality of the food. Definitely need to look at this piece and based on some of the other reviews I saw on this restaurant its definitely a problem.

$21 for a bowl of ceviche was tasty but a lot of tomatoes. The clam chowder was tasty but came cold to warm. We haven't been here in a long before covid.

    Happy hour!

Good times at the girl's night out at The Waterside! Everything was great - the ambiance, the food and our server Melanie, she is always so pleasant, sweet and helpful. And thanks to Jose (I think that's his name) for taking our photo!

Rubbery chicken piccata. Presentation was nice. Food not so much.

What a bummer. I really wanted to like this place. Upon arrival, the music was super loud inside and playing rock music then it switched to rap. Weird music for a place that sells $60 filets. The chicken piccata was rubbery and barely edible. How do mess up chicken breast? Dimmer lighting would be nice as well. Too bright with those industrial style lights. They do a brunch so maybe we will come back for one more try and have better luck with the eggs.

Don't sleep on this cozy spot in the Oxnard Harbor. Waterside offers great views of the water, live music, good pours, good food, and good people. Chorizo Chilaquiles, are a classic Mexican dish! As the menu offers a good selection of American food, I was shocked at the flavor of the dish! These Chilaquiles are made with hand fried tortilla chips simmered in a flavorful sauce, typically salsa verde (green) or salsa roja (red), and topped with chorizo, fried eggs, avocado and cheese. Its a warm-hearty dish. The Avocado Toast, and Egg-cellent Omelette looked delicious! My friends enjoyed their brunch with Bottomless Mimosas! The indoor patio is a nice spot to seek shelter from the sun with privacy for an intimate conversation. If you have some coverage from the sun, then the outdoor patio is my preference, listening to music and enjoying the views. The restaurant is a big place and the girls are multitasking a lot. You definitely need to have some patience and time to enjoy your meal. We have to remember that good things take time. The wait staff are always charming and sweet. I always enjoy their hospitality! Tip: Live music is on weekends. Call and find out what day and time so you're not disappointed.

My friends and I decided to enjoy a nice night out at Waterside, and it turned out to be a great choice. To our pleasant surprise, there was a live band playing--The Goleta Sound--and they definitely made the evening special. We opted to sit outside, and even though it was chilly, the heaters provided just enough warmth, allowing us to enjoy the music comfortably. Our server was patient and friendly, even though it took some time for us to decide on drinks. Once we settled in, it took a little longer to choose our meals, as we were busy catching up and socializing, but our waitress was exceptionally accommodating throughout. For the table, everyone except my partner ordered the burger with fries, which was delicious--cooked perfectly and full of flavor. My partner chose the pork chop, which was seasoned well and juicy, making for a satisfying meal. Overall, a fantastic night with good food, great live music, and attentive service. We'll definitely be returning!

Overall 3.5, so I rounded up to 4 stars. The restaurants is beautiful. Love the remodel. Such a great date night spot right by the water. Place does have an older crowd but that is no problem as I am chill. Our server Savannah was so attentive and definitely welcoming. Now the food . I got their calm chowder to start . I ate it all but I wouldn't say it was great . To me it lacked a more milky appearance. Flavor wise , it was not amazing as well. I also got a burger and I really enjoyed it! It came with fries. I only drank water but they do have cocktails available. I did not see a Happy Hour menu and not sure they have one.

Absolutely incredible experience! This restaurant is a perfect combination of great food, beautiful atmosphere, and amazing vibes. The view overlooking the water is absolutely stunning, especially as the sun starts to set. The live music created the perfect backdrop without ever feeling too loud, just really adding to the whole ambiance. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome from start to finish. Every dish from Chef Ricardo was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can tell this place takes pride in what they do. Whether you're looking for a relaxing night out, a place to unwind with friends, or somewhere special for a date, this spot is a must-visit. Can't wait to come back!

Today was a very disappointing visit to Waterside for my husband and I. We are finding that it's hit and miss with each visit. (Last few "miss") Wondering if they're under new ownership? Management? Food was mediocre... Szechwan pork ribs were "good" and the fried calamari & vegetable appetizer was not. We asked for it crispy and the calamari were these chunky like strips-soft and borderline mushy. There was an overwhelming amount of peppers (I think Ortega chilles?) And a few well done fried broccolis. The presentation was pretty sad...everything was mixed in with arugula. Maybe they meant to serve it in top of the arugula? Definitely NOT like the calamari appetizer we've ordered here in the past. The clam chowder was delicious! Overall the food is overpriced and not worth it for what you get. The service was great! The ambiance not so much. They had a live music duo playing inside right where you walk in. They were way too loud and honestly sounded pretty bad! This isn't the first time we've been here when they've had loud music (usually outside) that were not good. I cannot understand why y'al struggle so badly with getting talented musicians? We go to many restaurants in the area who have local bands play that are really good. Not recommending Waterside at this time.

We loved the place! We came for a friends get away weekend, they had live music, staff super nice and the food was great! We sent our compliments to the chef, who came later on to introduce himself. The clam chowder was very tasty, the calamari was yummy and the sauce was superb! Restrooms super clean and overall an A+.

In Ventura's industrial area, the Cave is a nice, cozy restaurant that is hidden in the Ventura Wine Company shop. We were greeted by live music which made a lively atmosphere. They have the self vending wine machine with a decent variety of wines for all. I'm going to be honest - I did question the pour size. We ended up buying a bottle of wine at dinner instead and I'm pretty sure that was the economical choice plus it gave me peace of mind. I will say - the plating of the food is strange. Giant plates for small portions never really sits well with me. The kitchen's "thinly sliced" waygu steak was also off putting visually. The Jumbo Scallops w/Leek & Truffle Risotto ($46) is a must order. Scallops perfectly pan seared and that risotto I would eat by itself. The Lemon Chardonnay sauce was incredible. The Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs ($39) was okay. The meat fell apart as it should. The red wine sauce was okay but lacked depth. The creamy mashed potatoes were very good and seasoned perfectly. Wasn't mad that I tried it but would not order again. Wagyu Top Sirloin 12 oz. ($48) was very good despite the poor slicing. The creamy mushroom sauce was perfect to add some flavor but not overpower the protein. The Pepperoni Pizza ($18) was decent for my son. My daughter planned to order the Seafood Pasta until she saw all of her favorite things combined: Mac and cheese, bacon and pizza - the Mac and Cheese Pizza ($21) was honestly top notch. If you really must have beer, it's there, but! For heaven's sake, try something elevated -- ask for recommendations. You won't be disappointed. However, the star of the entire experience is the menu. Now, remember, I am a lifelong vegetarian. I had fun limiting myself to four choices -- I could have had more were I not on a perpetual diet. You can see what we ordered in my photographs. Each dish was superb, really, first in class. Nonetheless, take a good look at my photographs of the Autumn Apple Tarte -- it is the g.o.a.t., believe me. Not only did it taste celestial but notice the tiny flowers? The chef, Priscilla, is a highly skilled and trained artist, her medium just happens to be delicately flavored and arranged plates of heaven. And Sarah, our attendant took a concierge approach to caring for us. A cosmopolitan playlist provided a lyrical backdrop that just made everything flow like silk. Parking is easy, simply use the Hyatt Convention Center parking lot adjacent to a verdant golf course or their garage, for free. There are two main rooms and we asked for the "lobby"-like large room with a giant table that we had all to ourselves, given we were there in the late afternoon on a Sunday. Even so, clientele were coming and going. It was the golden hour and we were draped in a warm light and cozy but uplifting spirit. The entire experience was flawless. And the tab? Ridiculously reasonable. You may not be headed to Rodeo or Saint-Germain-des-Prés or West 27th street any time soon. So, instead, treat yourself to this epic wine bar. You will thank me, when you do.

Save yourself the headache and eat somewhere else. -- We were told our wait would be approximately 15 minutes. It ended up being closer to 30. Once seated, things got even worse. We sat for roughly 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging our table and had to flag down two separate employees before we were assigned a server. Despite arriving over an hour before I needed to leave for a scheduled appointment, our food didn't arrive until approximately 11:35 AM. Spending over an hour at breakfast for a simple meal is unreasonable, especially at a resort restaurant where guests often have reservations and activities planned. Unfortunately, the food wasn't worth the wait. The chicken sausage arrived room temperature, and my pancakes were raw in the middle. Not undercooked--raw. After waiting over an hour for breakfast, receiving food that wasn't properly prepared was incredibly disappointing. As if that weren't enough, the restaurant somehow managed to charge our credit card twice while also posting the charge to our room. Resolving the error became an ordeal of phone calls, receipt photos, waiting for managers, and multiple follow-ups. What should have been a simple correction ended up taking a significant amount of our vacation time. The most frustrating part wasn't even the mistakes themselves--it was the lack of urgency in fixing them. Nobody seemed particularly concerned that guests were waiting excessive amounts of time, receiving improperly prepared food, or dealing with billing errors.
