Watershed is still a nice place in Mill Valley for a casual, dining outside experience for us, particularly in good weather for drinks and a petite side of ribs or their nice hanger steak salad. I like the patio, setting and several regular items on their menu, but after coming back for multiple visits, and sending friends, colleagues and family and hearing feedback of service relayed snafus, I had to reevaluate my rating. Service matters to us. Examples include not being welcomed, not being checked back on, indifferent service, and needing to ask for the bill after a server disappeared indefinitely. Still a fine spot locally, but better for a casual experience, rather than a high-touch service experience.

It was a bright and sunny Monday afternoon. My partner and I were headed up into the marin headlands for a nice relaxing day and we decided to check out Watershed Mill Valley for lunch. This restaurant has a very nice relaxing vibe and we sat outside to enjoy the sun as well. For food we ordered the Thick Cut Fries and the Mad River Pizza. The Fries were really good. They were nice and crispy on the outside but super soft on the inside, almost like mashed potatoes. The Mad River Pizza was decent but not the best. Crust was nice and crispy, but the sauce was too wet, so all of the toppings slid right off and the mushroom almost tasted dirty. Luckily everything else on the pizza tasted great to help mask that. We also ordered a few drinks. We got the Paloma and the Aperol Spritz. Both were pretty delicious and perfect for the summer day.

The area is super cute. They have a little parking lot but also lots of street parking. Food was okay. My friend got the chicken and one side was seasoned very well, and the other side was super salty. Chicken was not dry which was a good thing. I asked for my burger to be medium, but it was pretty well done. The patty was very grey colored and tasted grainy/powdery for some reason. Wouldn't get the fries again. The stars are for the nice service and nice atmosphere. Food could def use some work. Their pizza might be the best bet, but I wanted something with more protein.

So good! Best pizza and drinks in Mill Valley. My husband and I got married Saturday morning and decided to grab late lunch here afterwards. Staff is super friendly and very clearly happy to be there, even on a holiday. Also shout out to their extended wine shop next door, Eddy Bar and Bottle for the exceptional service.

We came on a Sunday evening with no reservation- they were pretty busy so we were seated in the outside area at one of the wooden tables. Just note that this area is technically considered "outside" of the restaurant so it is self-serve aside from getting our dishes brought to us. They have a table where you can get your utensils and water. It was pretty sunny so it would have been nice to have umbrellas covering the tables, but not a big deal. The pizza was alright but I wish it had more cheese and veggies on it. The hot honey was a nice touch. Overall not a bad place to visit if you need dinner on a whim, and it's in a really cute area.

If you're looking for a spot with solid pizza this is the place to go to. We had came here after Muir Woods and was pleasantly surprised with the service and quality of food. The pizza was hand crafted and oven bake to order. I would recommend the mad river and swim club pizzas. The ambiance felt like a ski resort on the exterior with fire pits. The inside looked like a barn. I would recommend this spot.

On my recent trip to San Francisco, my friend and I dined here while having a beautiful idyllic day, exploring Mill valley and everything that beautiful neighborhood has to offer. We were strolling around Mill Valley lumberyard and chose to have dinner at this restaurant. Service was quick and efficient, I ordered myself the hanger steak salad, and my friend ordered the pizza. We decided to split the smoked fish dip. There are a few improvements that can be made to the food here. My hanger steak was cooked very well, although I do wish the beef was a little bit better seasoned. Not a lot of thought went into the bed of greens that the meat came on. I think arugula mixed with the greens would have been tastier. The dressing was also not very good and my entire salad was swimming in olive oil. This dish definitely needs improvement. The pizza tasted fresh and had shaved zucchini on it, which was a good touch however, I do feel that it should've been finished with some sort of sauce drizzle like pesto or something to jazz up this dish. It also needed salt. Now I am the biggest smoked fish dip or any fish dip freak. I absolutely go crazy for a creamy fishy dip situation to dunk a crunchy vessel in. The dip here did leave a little to desire. First of all the dairy to fish ratio was definitely very dairy heavy. This definitely needed a lot more fish in it and bigger chunks as well. I also needed more flavor like acidity to cut through the richness of the dip. I hope this place can make some improvements to their food based on my feedback. I can imagine sitting here and eating being an absolute treat in the right weather on a sunny day. The location of this restaurant cannot be beat.

The thin crust pizza with Salami. When visiting San Francisco, anything with salami is gonna have my heart. Seated right away we chose to sit outside as it was a lovely day in Mill Valley. Pizza and some local beer perfect afternoon.

While walking around at the mill valley lumber yard this we stopped by and sat down for a bottle of cold beer and ended up drinking a few. How delicious is this beer ? Made locally in the Russian River area ... we also tried a glass of local cider and a few other things. Great appetizers and great customer service. We had a good time drinking eating and chatting. This place has a great ambiance.

Watershed is one of those rare spots where the food, the place, and the people all hit the same high note. From the ceviche to the green gulch salad to the wood-fired pizzas, it's food that arrives looking gorgeous and tasting even better. It's a place that doesn't just serve food -- it respects it. Tucked into the historic Mill Valley Lumber Yard, perched above the creek, the setting has wood and steel bones that give it soul. Elementally, whoever put this together did a really good job. Kyle runs a kitchen that consistently delivers -- everything feels intentional, from the way the flavors layer to how the plates land on the bar. Even down to the sauces -- I had a salad with a dill dressing (and I don't even like dill), but it was one of the best things I've eaten in ages. That's the sign of a chef operating on another level. At the bar, Erika brings the kind of presence that only comes from knowing the craft inside and out -- a true local who knows how to hold the room and keep it flowing. Emily spark of creativity with cocktails -- mezcal sour - who knew?. And Max brings a genuine warmth and a smile that makes you feel instantly welcome. Together, they reflect the same energy coming out of the kitchen -- intentional, alive, and right on point. The crowd is lively but never pretentious, and the whole experience -- from the historic setting to the thoughtful food and the team that runs it -- makes Watershed quietly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Marin's so-called heavy hitters. This isn't just a restaurant, it's a team. And they're the reason Watershed is more than a place to eat -- it's a place to belong. Five stars -- only because I can't give it six. But shhh... don't tell too many people.

What a neat little area! We decided to eat here on our way to Muir Woods. The food was phenomenal and it was evident the locals eat here as well which is always a good sign! My vegetarian plate was excellent! They clearly make their own herbed yogurt and flatbread, the vegetables were cooked perfectly and it was just the right size. My husband had the ribs and you could tell they were slow cooked- meat fell off the bone but not too much. Atmosphere is great. Staff are great. Definitely worth a stop for something different and local!

The restaurant itself is beautiful, and our server was kind and friendly, but the service felt disorganized. We specifically asked to have the oysters first, followed by the 1000 Layer Crispy Potatoes with caviar, and then our entrees. Instead, the potatoes arrived almost immediately. When our server saw them, she asked if the oysters had already been brought out. They hadn't, and after she went to check on them, we had a very long wait before they finally arrived. The wait between the oysters and our entrees was even longer. We were told the kitchen was running slowly because there was a wedding upstairs, which we understood. The atmosphere also felt mismatched. For such a beautiful, upscale waterfront restaurant, the fairly loud hip-hop/rap music just didn't fit the setting or the dining experience we were expecting. The food was the biggest disappointment. The oysters were excellent and easily the highlight of the meal, and the presentation throughout was beautiful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't live up to how good the dishes looked. Nearly everything else was overly salty. My steak frites was so heavily salted that it overwhelmed the dish, and my wife had the same issue with her petrale sole. Meanwhile, other elements, including the potatoes, were surprisingly bland. We were also disappointed to discover that the lobster pot pie, a signature dish I had specifically been looking forward to and one of the reasons I booked the restaurant, was no longer on the menu. We learned that The Bungalow Kitchen is under new management and the menu had changed. I had been saving The Bungalow Kitchen for a special occasion. I never dined here under the previous Michael Mina management, so I can't fairly compare the two experiences, but this wasn't the dining experience I had envisioned when I chose it for our anniversary. It's a gorgeous space in a beautiful location, and the staff were pleasant. But at these prices, we expected the food, service and overall experience to live up to the setting. Unfortunately, ours fell well short of those expectations. Since dining here also requires a significant drive for us, the experience wasn't good enough to justify making the trip again to give it a second chance.

The hostess was really nice and she said no worries we can get you a table. There was only two of us so that's probably why it wasn't a problem. We ordered a couple glasses of wine and the smoked wings and wedge salad to start. Our wines came out right away and then our wings and salad. It was pretty quick considering they looked pretty busy. Of course the wines were delicious (Zin, Pinot Noir). The salad was pretty basic wedge but good and they made it for two which was good. The wings were cooked perfect, just enough smoke on them, and a little crispy. For our entree we ordered the Ribeye to split between us. The ribeye came out not to much later, it looked good. They also split that for us so that was really nice. The Ribeye was cooked perfect (med rare), a good grill marks on it, great seasoning on it. It came with a herb butter and some kind if dipping sauce as well. Both were really flavorful but the herb butter was the best. Also, the mini baked potato was delicious as well. The steak didn't even need any sauces because the seasoning flavor was already there. For dessert we ordered sticky toffee pudding. It was the best Sticky Toffee pudding I've ever had. I wanted to lick the plate dry. Kiudos. The service was pretty good throughtout the dinner which was nice. Unfortunately, it was closed, so we didn't get a chance to check it out. We noticed a balcony where people dined, and I said, "Maybe we'll try it some other time." About a year later, we spent a night in Corte Madera before heading to Clear Lake. Since it was his birthday weekend, I thought it would be perfect for the four of us to have a celebratory breakfast before our long drive. We walked in, and I couldn't help but exclaim, "Damn! This place is BOUJEEEEE!" (A term I picked up from my millennial coworker, meaning "luxurious in lifestyle.") A tall, dark, intimidating man stood watch at the door, not even greeting us. Maybe we didn't look like we belonged in such an upscale place. Undeterred, we explored each showroom before making our way up the grand staircase to the restaurant. Wow, wow, wow! Crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead, and a majestic fountain with a Roman centerpiece stood in the middle of the dining room. Lush plants and trees hung everywhere, giving the space an atmosphere that matched the showrooms--stylish, elegant, and sophisticated. We received both the all-day and brunch menus. Since my partner loves oysters (and it was his birthday celebration), we started with a dozen. They were plump, smooth, and silky--like a kiss from the ocean. Craving something different, I also ordered the Hamachi Caviar Carpaccio. It was delicate, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I was slightly bummed that my partner's daughter loved it so much, while my own daughter wasn't interested after trying a small piece. I almost ordered another, but remembered we still had breakfast coming. At least I got the tiniest final bite of carpaccio. If our appetizers set the bar this high, I couldn't wait for the next dishes. My partner had the RH Scramble, and I chose the American Breakfast. We were both blown away by the scrambled eggs--so fluffy and creamy, almost magical. I always add milk to my eggs, but they never turn out like this. My partner's daughter enjoyed two enormous slices of avocado toast, while my daughter opted for the Swedish Pancakes, which were rich and buttery. The sweet potato fries struck the perfect balance of sweet and salty. The girls sipped hot chocolate adorned with cute designs; my partner's cortado featured a stylish RH motif, and my chai latte was dusted with cinnamon. Stuffed as I was, I still wanted us to sing happy birthday, so I ordered a crème brûlée for the occasion (they put the candle on the side). Breaking through the thin, glassy top was satisfying, and the silky, ultra-creamy custard beneath was absolutely divine. I also spotted chocolate cookies on the menu and eagerly ordered them for the road trip--they remained scrumptious even after a quick spin in the microwave. What an exceptional meal! The service was just as memorable--every server was outstanding. Okay, that was an expensive breakfast. Looks like it's Taco Bell for the rest of our trip!

Our first time…read morethere, expectations and anticipation were pretty high -- and somehow the experience still exceeded them. What struck me most was how beautifully balanced everything was. The 11-course tasting menu was creative and visually stunning, but never felt like presentation was taking precedence over flavor. There was tremendous depth and complexity throughout the meal, yet the individual ingredients still came through clearly. Even with so many courses, each one felt distinct and purposeful. The opening snacks immediately set the tone, particularly the local halibut bao -- incredibly soft and delicate, with this wonderful combination of flavor, texture and color. One of my favorite courses of the entire evening was the yellow peach gazpacho with smoked trout roe, pistachio and avocado. It had an almost surprising amount of depth and intensity for something that initially seemed so light. Every bite seemed to reveal another layer of flavor. The bluefin tuna with summer melon, cucumber and ama rosa potatoes was another standout. Beautifully fresh and composed, with that balance between richness, brightness and texture that seemed to characterize the entire menu. And then there was the dry-aged Flannery beef ribeye with eggplant, summer peppers and romesco. Wow! The portion was beautifully restrained, but the beef was so intensely rich, juicy and flavorful that it somehow felt like eating a much larger steak. One of those dishes where a relatively small amount delivers an enormous experience. Dessert continued the theme. The hazelnut cake with blackberry ice cream was fantastic -- rich, nutty and wonderfully balanced by the fruit -- and I loved the progression into the cotija pot de crème with fig, followed by the final canele, chocolate, pate de fruit and caramel. Heavenly. Just as impressive were all of the details surrounding the meal: the beautiful artwork, ceramics, silverware, plating, lighting and pacing of the evening. Service was warm, knowledgeable and attentive without ever feeling overly formal. There was a sense of care behind everything. That may ultimately be what I appreciated most about Madcap. It wasn't simply a collection of excellent dishes. The entire evening felt designed as one coherent experience -- food, wine, presentation, service and atmosphere all working together.
