First time I've used Waterloo services. A deer hit my son's car. Right passenger side quarter panel was damaged. Poked though the wiper fluid container. Hit so hard it crumpled the hood a bit and passenger door wouldn't open. Not happy time at my house. We called Geico and they took care of it. We chose Waterloo Motors as it's right in town plus Geico agent knew them as well, which i felt was good. I owed the deductible and another $175 for labor fees that Geico didn't quite cover. Seems Waterloo Motors service is a bit higher on the labor. But people need to be paid for their service and mechanics are in need. They did a great job on my son's car. They had good communication and we're happy to have the car back. It does look nice. They did a good job. read more

Idk what stick got up there butt that day but they failed my nearly brand new. Was a showroom car only, hardly any miles for my rear tires which was understandable but my problem with them is because one of my headlights the plastic outer cover is chipped in the back corner was the main reason i was failed...??? Than gave me a funny look and said "we go by the book here" ...??? Like what? He knew that was ridiculous and probably instantly remembered the year before they passed my old car which externally was in far worst ship including both headlights cracked from some dummy loosing trash out of his pickup while flying down the highway. To top it off quoted a replacement at $7000. When I looked after that I couldn't find one for $7000 but only the most expensive still $4000 less than that and the only replacements I could find was the entire light assembly at that. Still expensive but 7000 naw not buyin it and regardless I still wouldn't even spend 1000 on a plastic light cover. I spoke to several other businesses that has not seen it themselves at that time but said if it's how I described it than waterloo is just being ridiculous for no reason. I am so pleased with my experience at Waterloo Motors! I scraped the side of my car pretty good in a garage a few weeks ago, and decided it was worth it to fix before a harsh winter rusted the paint. I was helped by Dan Lowe who explained what work needed to be done for repairs and took my car in the very same day to get started. Very kind, and super knowledgeable guy. The team did an incredible job repairing the damage and painting it to match that you would never know work had been done. The best part is, it was done quickly and for a lower than estimated cost. I took my BMW 328i in to this shop for an oil change. They changed the oil (7 quarts), filter and replaced the drain plug washer. The bill was $376! I congratulated them on the most expensive oil change that I ever paid for in my 69 years on the planet. He explained that oil prices have really increased and my car requires special 0W-30 oil due to the turbo chargers. My car doesn't have turbo chargers! I learned a lesson to ask the price next time. Recently had a pre-purchase inspection performed by Waterloo on a 2002 Carrera 4. I was told only I, as the customer, would receive a copy of the report. Some deficiencies were identified with the car. Not surprising for a 20 year old car. When I relayed the results to the seller, he indicated that was not what he was told. Apparently, Waterloo relayed only part of their findings to the seller. Seller did not believe me, my credibility was blown and seller moved on to another buyer. When I confronted Waterloo, they admitted the mistake but refused to reach out to the seller to identify ALL of the defects. Customer beware! DO NOT GO HERE! Terrible customer service and way to expensive. I took my car there for inspection and failed because my front right tie rod end was defective. They quoted me $275 to replace it. After doing some research, it's a simple fix. I buy BOTH tie rod ends for $60 and did them myself in an hour... So when I take it back, they re-inspect my car and fail it again. This time my back tires were bald. They did not tell me my first time that my tires would not pass, only the tie rod ends. (On the invoice or verbally) Obviously, I was furious. If I would have known my tires were bald, I would have replaced them instead of wasting my time at this place. The little guy at the front desk would not even listen to me. Even though it was their fault and lack of documentation, he told me there was nothing he could do and gave me a state trooper's phone number. Hopefully people read about my terrible experience there and choose one of the many other shops in Warrenton!!! Also, if you do not believe me, scroll down!! We hadn't even seen the car, but they were willing to tow it to their shop and work on it. There are two Dan's, and both are awesome and can't rave enough about them. Don't bother taking you car here or it will be your own Waterloo! All work supposedly done was not in fact completed. My '92 Porsche 964 had a bad blower motor that I was charged for replacement of only to find out recently that the blower motor was never replaced. Had interior door seals replaced, but Waterloo managed to cut the A pillar covering so that now I have to have it all replaced. read more

I brought my Saab 9-5 in with a fuel leak and John took care of me almost immediately. I was impressed and pleased that he set me up with a loaner (Toyota Corolla) while they took care of my Saab. The repair involved them searching salvage yards for parts and they were able to find one cheaper than I could. Throughout the process the staff was communicative and informative. I was hesitant to take my Saab to a shop that doesn't specialize in these unique vehicles, but John and his team have earned my trust and business- this wasn't just a simple oil change. The prices are not cheap, but are exactly in line with what I've seen from other independent shops and what I expect to pay for owning a European car. I would bring my Saab here again. read more

Well I was in need of service for my car ( yes it's big and German ) and a new friend recommended Waterloo motors for service . Upon arriving in the morning I was warmly greeted by a lovely woman who gave me a little history of the place before explaining everything. In detail about what was going to happen with my car. Including price and time. Not only were they helpful and well trained the level of personal service was fantastic. If you have a big German car you must take it here.Even if its a little German car you won't be dissapionted . Understand this the cost is almost on par with dealer prices but the level of professionalism just makes it a great value. Happy motoring. read more

I was driving my battered 2002 Honda Civic from DC down to SW Virginia between Christmas and New Years - my battery light came on enroute. It was rainy, about 4pm and getting dark quickly. I was faced with the decision of whether to try to get some place where I knew some mechanics (about 200 miles away) or instead take a risk and stop someplace in between. My phone was dead so I had no way of checking Yelp or getting Google wisdom. I randomly drove into Wrrenton for gas and stopped at Waterloo Motors (one of the few places that was open) to get at least an assessment of my chances. They actually seemed pretty busy, but John (service manager) put together an evaluation quickly - I was facing a pretty good risk of the car going dark in the next 2-3 hours, possibly getting stranded in the rain and in the dark. That actually might have been enough for me to get to way station but John offered another option - he had been able to locate a replacement alternator that could be delivered within the next hour and had a couple of mechanics that were willing to stay late putting it in. It was pretty clear to me that they were trying to catch up between the holidays; they certainly didn't need the extra work right then - and it had to be clear to them that I was far from home, didn't have many good options and clearly I wasn't someone who was likely to be back. Nonetheless, they squeezed me in - got my car fixed and had me on my way within a few hours. The price was fair by any measure - I didn't see any of the usual 'mark-ups' that many garages might use to gouge you, and John was quite willing to break down the charges and explain them to me. In the hours that I was hanging out there, I ended up with a pretty strong impression that the fine way they were treating me was just the way they did business. These guys are great - I wish I lived closer so that I could use them regularly. read more

I am only giving one star because they exist! They only survive because most customers are afraid to touch their own cars (Buy some tools and search on YouTube poeple!). Honesty and integrity is lacking at this establishment. Like another poster stated, you take it in for something small like an inspection and they come back at you with a couple hundred $$ of "Recommended" repairs. And yes, charge you as much as the dealership. Their lack of business ethics will come back to haunt them. What goes around comes around. read more

I've seen reviews that mention Waterloo is higher than other places, which may be the case, I don't know. I have personally experienced just the opposite. Whether they are or not, I know that I come out ahead by far, as a result of their high standards for professionalism and integrity. In the most recent example, I'd taken my car to Goodyear in Gainesville for an inspection (which previous experience warned I should never do again). They failed my aging BMW for leaking struts which they so conveniently could repair right there. I did learn a long time ago (10+ years) to never take my car anywhere but Waterloo, so drove down to Warrenton expecting a $2000 bill, only to have them inform me that while there was some seepage, the struts operated well within the state's criteria and qualified for a passing inspection. This long running pattern of integrity combined with their expert BMW certified mechanics that have kept my beamer running like the day she was brand new, has made me one of their many long time loyal customers. Everyone there is genuinely friendly and personable, their expert repairs are done quickly, they give me a loaner car to use, and I have the rare added luxury of knowing they are not going to rip me off, a priceless commodity in the world of auto repair shops. Perhaps for a one time fix that you're certain is required, price comparisons are the way to go. But if you're looking for a long term partner in keeping your vehicle in tip top shape while not taking advantage of your lack of mechanical expertise, driving down to Warrenton is the best route to take. read more

I have been a loyal Customer of Waterloo Motors in Warrenton since 2002 when I lived in Bristow and Warrenton. I have always felt the company was trustworthy and I continued to use them for my foreign vehicles even when I lived quite a far distance in Fairfax City. I felt this way until today when I picked up my 2008 BMW. Waterloo motors charged me $770.00 for a head light Control module that I could find for $412.44,for an Original BMW part, at the highest retail price online before core turn in. When I pointed this out to them, John gave me a lot of double talk about Warranty for the mark up. John had also told me when I dropped the vehicle off that they would run a diagnostic test to determine if the Module was the problem which when I found out about the part mark up of $357.56 the front bumper was already removed and I was in for cost of labor to take off and put back on the bumper. I will never use them again. read more
