Often a special place appears in your life and you simply follow the good spirit. Living in Florida and always writing about restaurants in other parts of the world I often wondered about some of the ones that are near home. I recently stopped at The Waterfrontoo in Nokomis,Florida and had a wonderful dinner with fabulous waterviews and spectacular service. I arrived at about 5:00 p.m. and to my surprise, there was a very diversified and reasonably priced menu if your order was in by 5:30 p.m. Typically, I don't order from an early bird menu but I gave it a shot. I had baby back ribs with the most delicious home cut baked potatoe fries and a generous salad with blue cheese dressing. My partner had coconut shrimp with fresh string beans and a salad with thousand island dressing. The scrumptuous food was so well prepared and the prices were so decent that I came back for a second and third time within the same week and tried the chopped steak, the pork chops and remained impressed especially when nothing on the special menu was over $13.00. The Waterfrontoo is a family business and the decor inside is relaxed and homey. The service was the greatest and should be noted along with the superior prepared to order gourmet food. Businesses as well as individuals will be surprised to find this treasure of a restaurant close to Sarasota and practically in Venice's backyard. In every category, I rate Waterfrontoo as a 5. Wow! Our first visit to Waterfrontoo during a storm turned out to be an amazing surprise. The warm, cozy dining area and serene waterfront view made it all worth the trip. We hit their Sunset Specials (4:30-6:30), and the menu was impressive. My friend ordered the Prime Rib dinner ($28.98) that came with soup or salad and a vegetable. The Prime Rib was perfectly cooked to a medium finish, tender and delicious. The blue cheese dressing with crumbles was divine, and the baked potato was spot-on. I had the Parmesan Crusted Salmon dinner ($20.98), served with drawn butter. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the sautéed green beans were crisp and flavorful. The beer bread muffins they served before the meal left us wanting more! For dessert, the Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla ice cream was so good, I forgot to snap a before picture. We devoured it in no time! To top it off, the wine was a great deal at $6 for a generous pour. We're already looking forward to our next visit! read more

Pros: The restaurant offers a great view of an inlet and the ambiance is perfect for enjoying the scenery while dining. The service was acceptable - our water glasses were refilled promptly and bread was brought out. However, we had to ask for our salads, which were just average with large chunks of iceberg lettuce and dressing on the side. As for the main course, the baked potato was the standout item. Unfortunately, the two steaks were overcooked and served to the wrong person, and the taste indicated that they might have been prepared on a dirty grill. The grouper dish was bland and had a mushy texture. The green beans were overcooked but had a decent flavor. Although the grouper was comped, no one from the staff approached us to address our concerns, which was disappointing. It would have been better if they had proactively sought to rectify the situation for us and other guests. read more

We are dual residents - New York and Nokomis Florida and have been enjoying lunch and dinners at Waterfrontoo for many years now. We have seasonal rentals in Nokomis and recommend the restaurant to all of our snowbirds! The food is great, never had a bad meal. Our absolute favorites are the prime rib and coconut shrimp, not to mention the greek salad! The Staff is always friendly and attentive and we have never been there where the owner has not personally come to the table to be sure that everyone is happy. I organized a lunch here for 40 women. The owner couldn't have been more accommodating, especially since the restaurant isn't even open for lunch! These women can be tough customers, but everyone was pleased with their lunch choice. The salmon was excellent and the accompanying green beans were very tasty. First course was their Greek salad, which was great. The key lime pie was a perfect end. The staff was right on top of everything and very nice about any special requests. I hope to have dinner there very soon and will bring any northern guests to try it out, too. The dining area has a pretty water view. read more

I came in last week with my husband, we enjoyed a lovely dinner. That is up until I went to the patio to get some fresh air, and saw 2 servers displaying excessive PDA through the window. I understand wanting a romance and such but there is a time and place, and as far as I'm concerned it is completely unsanitary. On my way out I saw one of the pair using his bare hands to prepare a salad. NO GLOVES ANYWHERE. Both my husband and I are older and extremely cautious especially right now, with the pandemic. What a great experience. Greeted by the owner when I walked in the door, escorted to my table by the lovely hostess and greeted right away by Linda. She suggested the prime rib which was perfectly cooked and the best I've had in a really long time. It was such of pleasure and just a seamless experience. Waterfron Too has an amazing atmosphere. You feel welcomed immediately from the second you walk through the door. The servers get yo know their customers as they become regulars creating a very enjoyable time. The food is outstanding, a variety of steaks poultry and seafood no matter your taste you are bound to find something to suit your appetite. The portions are more than you can imagine fit such a great deal. So stop by, you'll surely return! read more

I eat at Waterfrontoo 2 times a week. The service is great and the food is always the way I order it. Every customer there is treated as if they were family. They have good steaks and seafood (that is a rare combination ). If you are looking for a relaxed environment with good food and great service, there isn't a better place around. read more

Good service, delicious food, and a fun environment! My husband and I always end up going there when we eat out because you just can't beat it.
