If I could leave negative star I would. I ordered Chicken salad, wontons and orange beef, paid 35.00 so they would deliver to my work. HORRIBLE!!!! Chicken on salad was not cooked all the way and was basically a bagged salad with raw chicken for 12.00. Wontons so greasy and soggy. I'm scared to open my orange beef. Almost $40.00 for lunch and I'm still starving with nothing they sent was edible. HORRIBLE!!!! I should not have had to pay for this. Ya, tried the beef...the same. I was worried when I loved from Florida that I would not find a good Chinese restaurant. Water Moon is one of the BEST restaurants I have ever eaten at. We have been here a few times and the food has always been fresh and delicious. I have had Walnut Shrimp before but the shrimps are small, at Water Moon it's like eating Jumbo Shrimp and the breading is fresh and crunchy. Our favorites are Walnut Shrimp, Water Moon Chicken (crispy honey chicken) and the chicken fried rice. I was really shocked by this place, they only have 4 booths, but they are semi private, kinda cool. The booths were all taken, so we had to sit at a table. This is my family's GO TO place. Celebrations, or just a Tuesday night dinner--it is perfect for any occasion! My husband and I drove 40 minutes to get there the other night just for some sushi! We haven't had a single bad thing on the menu. Their chicken dishes are top notch (try the lemon chicken!), as well as their beef (crispy beef is so unique and incredible), and they make great sushi rolls. The family dinners are a wonderful deal, as their soups and salads and appetizers are all amazing. Basically everything here is fresh, well-cooked, and the atmosphere is fun. They serve alcohol as well. Whenever we go in, the servers recognize us and even remember our order! Try to snag one of the secluded booths against the wall if you can--they're great. read more

I actually really really like this place! I had lived in the area most of my life, and had meant to try it since I had noticed it, though I didn't place it high on my list because the yelp reviews are just so so. but I recently moved back to UT after having been out of state for several years, I swung by this place to grab some takeout one night in a rush, and I couldn't have been happier with it! I want to point out that really I think they deserve more of a 4 star review, but I wanted to give them some love to try and boost their stats a bit :) The place is actually really nice inside for a strip mall joint, and even has these little romantic side rooms for even better atmosphere. The staff was all very nice, and it was extremely clean and well organized throughout all I could see. The prices are a tad high in comparison to other strip mall places, but they also LOAD you up with food. The entrées are very generous, plus they give you a salad and choice of white, brown, or fried rice. We got the crispy beef which was just delicious! The pon pon chicken, which was also quite good, and the chicken lomein, which was good but not awesome, the chicken though was quite tasty, the noodles were just a but more mushy than I like. The weakest link at this place (at least what we tried) was the ham fried rice. It's not bad, it's just not good, it's a bit flavorless and dry and lacking in any other ingredients like some onion or veggies to liven and flavor it up. All in all this may have jumped to the top of my favorite quick easy Chinese place. The food was good and didn't leave you with that heavy sort of sick feeling you often get from Chinese, the ingredients were all fresh and high quality, and the preparation and sauces were delicious. I would recommend this place, and hope more people jump on and review it, because I know lots of people love it, but they just haven't taken the time to give them a good review. I will say that I can't speak to the sushi aspect of the restaurant which appears to be where more of the negative reviews are coming from, but I'm sort of a sushi snob so I likely won't try it, I try to avoid sushi in land locked states in general. But I also don't like it when Chinese places throw sushi on the menu, I think they should stick to one nationality of cuisine, though I will say that all of the pictures of sushi they have up and on the menu do look quite good and seem to be well prepared. read more

According to it's menu Water Moon offers fine Asian fusion dining and it has yet to disappoint. We've dined here a half dozen times and have been delighted with everything we've encountered. Last week it was Egg Foo Yung for me, yep, the most mundane menu item possible. I am always in search of the perfect Foo and I think I found it. Hard to describe this, it's huge, light and puffy with a mouthful of texture and flavor you won't believe - and the sauce? Too much good. My wife opted for the lemon chicken and once again she was delighted, a light crispy batter around delicate meat with a delicate killer lemon sauce. We like their Bento boxes for lunch also, at $7.50 they are a steal and the quality is right up there, providing many of the popular menu items. Oh yeah, opt for their Mango iced tea, you won't stop asking for re-fills, it's refreshing addicting! And now for their Sushi elements- or not. I won't pretend to know Sushi, or Sashimi or Maki Sushi...., like my daughter says I don't know Sushi from Shinola. I do know the guys standing behind the Sushi bar look like they know what's up. And the menu pictures sure look good. We do plan to take our Sushi loving daughters there for their take on it all so I'll update this afterward. Finally the service- simply put it's most enjoyable. It seems like everyone in the place wants you to enjoy your visit, they go out of their way to make sure you taste the iced tea, or have the latest coupon or your seating is comfortable. I liked the walnut shrimp (maybe they call theirs snowball shrimp). It was good but more 'mustard-y' than Sampan or PF Changs. The sushi is yummy. I feel bad that every time I shop at Harmons you can see that there's like nobody in there eating. The guy who makes the sushi is the nicest guy ever! I have been to watermoon several times with my family, primarily for sushi. Their sushi menu is pretty extensive, but their prices are little high. The Nigari sushi prices are high compared to most places I have been to throughout the country. The service is usually pretty good, but once it was pretty slow. In conclusion, I would go here again as the food is good, but there are other sushi restaurants in the area that are a better value. read more

AVOID ordering via Yelp; I made that mistake and spent ten minutes convincing the employee that the fact that the order printout said PAID meant that I didn't have to pay again. Preface by saying I eat here at least once a week wtih the work crew. We typically get sushi and the shrimp egg foo young. Same thing we had today with a playboy roll. They typically have a sushi special that will save you a few bucks. It is on the higher end for pricing. I love all the rolls I've had. If you are a SLC sushi person, this is on the good end of the spectrum. The egg foo young is different than the very americanized kind I grew up with, and I like it. I had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile now since I live so close. I was so disappointed tonight! I ordered the salmon teriyaki dinner bento box with miso soup. The salmon had no flavor or sauce, the salad dressing was disgusting, and the gyoza didn't have much taste either. It came with a california roll which aren't my favorite anyway but I'm pregnant and don't want to risk any raw fish. My friend got a chicken teriyaki rice bowl which she said was very dry and nothing special. She kept pouring sauce on it to make it moist. We didn't like anything about this place and were not sure how it has been getting these 4 star reviews and awards. I will not be going back. What a waste of my money. read more

Watermoon breaks the first rule of sushi restaurants - don't mix Chinese food and sushi. And it just goes downhill from there. If you order a 12 ounce bottle of beer don't expect to get the full 12 ounces as they serve it in a 33 centiliter glass which is an equivalent to a little over 11 ounces. I watched the waiter fill the glass and was somewhat stunned when I saw him walk away with beer still in the bottle. The wait staff was not very helpful, considering there were multitude of them standing around doing nothing when we needed assistance. Our server, who seemed a bit disgruntled when I asked what was in the "special house sauce", graced us with his bad breath. When the table next to us was being bussed, they spilled water on one of the guests at my table and didn't even acknowledge it. I ordered three different rolls, two of which were pretty good, but the third had way too much mayo on it. We had to ask for enough plates for everyone when it was very clear that there weren't enough from the get go. On the plus side, the fish was fresh and the restroom was comfortably clean. Other than that, but much to rave about. Oh, there's a sign by the entrance claiming Watermoon was rated one of the top 100 Asian restaurants. I think not. Tried this place randomly last night and I have to say, I loved it! Best sushi I have tried in the state of Utah in a LONG time. It was really fresh and the service was amazing. Our waiter recommend the $50 special that includes soup/salad & appetizer + any 3 roles and also recommend some rolls that were delicious. Hidden gem in draper and glad I live near by because this will be my new sushi spot! Looking forward to returning and trying different rolls & plates. read more
