I came to Toro with my kids, and the experience was solid. The ambiance was good, with nice seating, lighting, etc. It was charming & felt pretty cozy. We just didn't feel any warmth from the staff - which is totally fine and actually somewhat expected having been to ramen places around the world. It just feels different compared to other restaurants in the US. We went with Edamame, Gyoza, and Karaage Chicken for appetizers. They were fantastic. Varying sushi rolls and ramen for the main courses. As far as Utah ramen joints go - upper tier. I particularly enjoyed the Karai ramen. I definitely recommend giving Toro a try. read more

I'm so happy I found this hidden gem! I don't go to Bluffdale often but was near the area and was looking for a place for lunch. We went in kinda late, near 2pm, and the restaurant was pretty empty. We started off with some appetizers. The Hamachi Jalapeno was so fresh!! The combination with jalapeno and the yuzu miso sauce was amazing. It is a must-try! The portion of the seaweed salad was larger than expected, which was nice. The Toro ramen was pretty decent. I personally prefer a stronger-taste soup base. The short ribs, though, surprised me and were SO tender. The Karai Ramen was an interesting one. Tasted more like the Chinese dan dan noodles lol. Not the kind of Japanese spicy ramen I was hoping for, but it was still good. We also got a sushi roll, and it was yummy but nothing extraordinary. After living in this area for over a year, I finally got the chance to try Toro Ramen. The establishment is in the Porter Rockwell area, the restaurant itself is actually really small on the inside, but has a great view of the streets facing Porter Rockwell Blvd and 14600 S. I ordered the original ramen with tonkotsu broth, corn, and extra noodles and the Tokyo Roll. My friend ordered the shrimp tempura, chicken karaage, and vegetable tempura. I didn't get a picture of my ramen, but the broth was flavorful. I actually wished that they offered a spicy version of it. The Tokyo roll was my favorite. I feel like a lot of places don't have rolls with spicy scallop, so it was nice to see that on the menu. The tempura was good as well, it didn't get soggy while sitting out. I would actually pass on the karaage. I like the karaage is fried with potato starch or corn starch for a different texture. I felt like the karaage was a little too dry for my liking. I would come back here to try more rolls and because of how convenient the location is for me. read more

Went here on a Friday night with a girlfriend. Since it's relatively new it wasn't too busy. We ordered the hamachi appetizer (super good!), bullet train roll and Vegas roll. All of it tasted very fresh and was well made! I love that the location is so close to my apartment in Bluffdale. The service was great and I'm looking forward to coming back to try the ramen. My only complaint is I tried to order a side of miso soup and that wasn't an option. But they had many other usual sides like seaweed salad, squid salad, vegetable tempura and edamame. read more

I love that you have choices here!! There are different ramen options and then several broth options. I got the spicy ground pork ramen with miso broth. I ordered to go. Once I arrived - it wasn't too busy - I didn't see a ton of spots to seat and looked like more people take out. They had everything in the bag and it was neatly packed. I liked the to-go containers because I've attempted soup to go before and the containers make it really hard to eat when you are staying in a hotel. This ramen was delicious. Lots of toppings and super flavorful. I'll need to come back and try other options! read more

We came in as a large group of people and were seated right away. It's a little odd this place has a drive-through establishment and also has waiter service. At one point it was one waiter to like 5-6 tables. And I think what upset our group was that the orders came out very staggered. Everyone got their soups pretty fast but the sushi rolls came out about 30 minutes after the ramen bowls came out, which meant some people didn't get their food for a long while. They told us that it was due to there being only one sushi chef but when we saw that people who came in behind us got their sushi ahead of us, we knew they had forgotten about the order. It was a mess and pretty annoying. Food was otherwise fine and we appreciated that they could add and remove items from the ramen and that the soups were tasty. Just wish they weren't as disorganized with large groups. read more

This was a nice diversion from my usual sushi hangouts. Tried their Bluffdale which is a spicy crab topped with avocado, eel sauce, and some other stuff. The thin lime slices that top it makes it refreshing although a bit tart at times! Next time I'll remember a pic... was too hungry! So happy there's a great sushi and ramen spot in the Draper/Bluffdale area! We used to go to the Fort Union location, but now that this is closer to us, I'm all for it! The restaurant is a short drive from the freeway in a strip mall area so it's easy to go to. Plenty of parking. The restaurant is modern and has a sushi bar area, with a good number of table seating and TVs. It's a good spot to hang out. Service is great - their servers are very attentive and sweet, and the owner Tony is really friendly. They're pretty busy during dinner but we haven't had a time where we had to wait. I ordered from their sushi menu and tried the Hamachi Jalapeño appetizer and Funky roll. The app was really fresh and they didn't skimp on the slice :) My husband always gets their Meat Lovers ramen (the best), but I forgot to take a picture of it for this post. Used to love this place, last couple times it's been beyond disappointing. Sushi tasted off, sauces were watered down compared to previous visits, karage was mainly skin and gristle. We had lunch here today at Toro Ramen and Sushi. We are always happy to support new business in town. We ordered Karai ramen, Toro ramen, and a Wasatch roll. Karai ramen: Good flavor, hot soup, but the broth needs a bit improvement. Tosh Ramen is a much better place. Toro Ramen: Good size, a bit too much soy sauce, beef is nice and tender. $15 price point is probably OK. Wasatch: this is actually the first dish that came out today. We were very shocked by the size and the cost. It costs $14 for a roll (see my picture), even more pricier than a Pretty Bird burger (if you live in Utah, you know those big fried chicken burger, $12 buck but huge). We are almost wondering did they serve the wrong dish? The taste of the roll is ordinary. I would probably give a 60 out of 100. Service-wise, the lady who served us seems not to care about our dining experience. She did not stop by at all to ask how we are doing. And it almost feels like she doesn't understand English too well (maybe the music is too loud?) Overall, ramen is probably OK to try and we do not recommend sushi rolls based on price and the portion. And if you must try this restaurant, be prepared for the less-than-perfect service. read more

Hidden gem in Bluffdale and worthy of a visit. We went with our younger kids and they loved it too. Our son was a huge fan of the ramen and the portions were big. Our daughter had her first full sushi dinner and gave two thumbs up. The service was very attentive and we got everything out hot and fresh. We even got to try a new roll coming soon with baked salmon - it was tasty! We've visited in a small group and large group and the restaurant accommodated both nicely and with great service. We love this place...in person. We had grub hub delivered, and any and all added comments were completely ignored. The biggest one being extra tofu in the veggie ramen, in which absolutely zero tofu was in the bowl... Second ignored request was for hot sauce (condiments on tables) to be added, and all but soy sauce was left out. Very disappointing. read more
