Tontkotsu Ramen & Smoked Salmon Nigiri; Follow me @RimyEats on Instagram

Needed a quick dinner and kinda wanted ramen and sushi so I found a spot that does both. I ordered the Tontkotsu Ramen with smoked salmon nigiri. The salmon was super fresh. The ramen was ok, the noodles were good. The broth was a little salty though but I usually have low sodium tolerance. Lots of parking in the plaza.

I'm so happy I found this hidden gem! I don't go to Bluffdale often but was near the area and was looking for a place for lunch. We went in kinda late, near 2pm, and the restaurant was pretty empty. We started off with some appetizers. The Hamachi Jalapeno was so fresh!! The combination with jalapeno and the yuzu miso sauce was amazing. It is a must-try! The portion of the seaweed salad was larger than expected, which was nice. The Toro ramen was pretty decent. I personally prefer a stronger-taste soup base. The short ribs, though, surprised me and were SO tender. The Karai Ramen was an interesting one. Tasted more like the Chinese dan dan noodles lol. Not the kind of Japanese spicy ramen I was hoping for, but it was still good. We also got a sushi roll, and it was yummy but nothing extraordinary. Overall, this restaurant has great food with reasonable prices and good service. Will definitely come back!!

Very chill spot. The server was super sweet and patient. Everything was freshly made. Everything was great, but honestly, was a little too bland for us. We would definitely be back.

Vegetable Tempura, Shrimp Tempura

After living in this area for over a year, I finally got the chance to try Toro Ramen. The establishment is in the Porter Rockwell area, the restaurant itself is actually really small on the inside, but has a great view of the streets facing Porter Rockwell Blvd and 14600 S. I ordered the original ramen with tonkotsu broth, corn, and extra noodles and the Tokyo Roll. My friend ordered the shrimp tempura, chicken karaage, and vegetable tempura. I didn't get a picture of my ramen, but the broth was flavorful. I actually wished that they offered a spicy version of it. The Tokyo roll was my favorite. I feel like a lot of places don't have rolls with spicy scallop, so it was nice to see that on the menu. The tempura was good as well, it didn't get soggy while sitting out. I would actually pass on the karaage. I like the karaage is fried with potato starch or corn starch for a different texture. I felt like the karaage was a little too dry for my liking. I would come back here to try more rolls and because of how convenient the location is for me.

Went here on a Friday night with a girlfriend. Since it's relatively new it wasn't too busy. We ordered the hamachi appetizer (super good!), bullet train roll and Vegas roll. All of it tasted very fresh and was well made! I love that the location is so close to my apartment in Bluffdale. The service was great and I'm looking forward to coming back to try the ramen. My only complaint is I tried to order a side of miso soup and that wasn't an option. But they had many other usual sides like seaweed salad, squid salad, vegetable tempura and edamame.

Spicy pork ramen (miso broth)

I love that you have choices here!! There are different ramen options and then several broth options. I got the spicy ground pork ramen with miso broth. I ordered to go. Once I arrived - it wasn't too busy - I didn't see a ton of spots to seat and looked like more people take out. They had everything in the bag and it was neatly packed. I liked the to-go containers because I've attempted soup to go before and the containers make it really hard to eat when you are staying in a hotel. This ramen was delicious. Lots of toppings and super flavorful. I'll need to come back and try other options!

We decided to stop in for dinner on a Monday and let me tell you, This place did not disappoint. The food was amazing especially the ramen the beef short rib was so tender in the broth . The service was excellent! Will definitely make this place my regular go to spot..

Great Ramen, nice atmosphere, staff is friendly, sushi is fresh, 10/10 would come here again!

Funky Roll and Sapporo

So happy there's a great sushi and ramen spot in the Draper/Bluffdale area! We used to go to the Fort Union location, but now that this is closer to us, I'm all for it! The restaurant is a short drive from the freeway in a strip mall area so it's easy to go to. Plenty of parking. The restaurant is modern and has a sushi bar area, with a good number of table seating and TVs. It's a good spot to hang out. Service is great - their servers are very attentive and sweet, and the owner Tony is really friendly. They're pretty busy during dinner but we haven't had a time where we had to wait. I ordered from their sushi menu and tried the Hamachi Jalapeño appetizer and Funky roll. The app was really fresh and they didn't skimp on the slice :) My husband always gets their Meat Lovers ramen (the best), but I forgot to take a picture of it for this post. I also got the Sapporo Premium Black, which was a first time for me (usually just get the OG Sapporo) - and it was really smooth. Another great meal, Toro! Thanks!

Service was ok. Food was ok. Group of 10 and refused to separate check. This is unacceptable with today's technology. Don't be lazy.

It's basically a fried shrimp sushi roll without the seaweed, and it's something I genuinely crave a couple times a week. My other go-to is the Hot Girl Summer roll. It has just the right amount of spice for this Louisiana girl. I always order it with extra eel sauce because honestly, I could drink that stuff. My friends ordered the Cowboy roll and the Elephant roll, and they said both were amazing and perfectly crispy. My partner always tries a new roll, but he only eats cooked or fried sushi. This is the one place he always chooses because the rolls are fried to perfection without being greasy or heavy. The service is good, and the atmosphere is always so cozy. We love this hidden gem and truly hope they get all the business they deserve.

The sushi tasted fresh and everything was really good, especially for the price. The restaurant was busy during lunch, which is usually a good sign. Because of that, it did take a while to get seated and a little bit before someone came to take our order. One downside was the seating. I got placed right in the sun and it was super hot during the meal. Overall, the food and prices were great. Just keep in mind if you're stopping in during the lunch rush, it might not be the quickest spot if you're on a tight lunch break. I'd still come back again.

Listen... I've eaten my way through enough restaurants to know when a place is phoning it in. This…read morewas not that. From the moment we sat down, our server Joshua understood the assignment. He floated in and out like a service ninja -- drinks magically refilled, plates cleared, zero awkward "So how's everything tasting?" interruptions mid-story. Someone give this man a raise. Or a crown. Or both. We started with the Avocado Egg Rolls with the honey-cilantro dipping sauce, and honestly? A moment. They were warm, crispy, flavorful, and -- bless -- not greasy. Nothing worse than an appetizer that ruins your appetite. These just whet it perfectly. I went big with the Thanksgiving Special, expecting a cute seasonal plate. What I got was a full-on Food Network close-up. The macadamia nut-crusted turkey, shoyu cream, and sweet chili green beans came out looking like the chef whispered affirmations to the plate before sending it out. Portions were massive -- like "congratulations, you also get lunch tomorrow" massive. My partner ordered the Wagyu Steak Fried Rice, and while the flavors were on point, he did quietly say, "I wish there was more steak." Honestly relatable, but still tasty. Dessert was the Chocolate Cake with ganache and crumble. Normally chocolate desserts knock me out after two bites, but this one was genuinely balanced. Sweet without being aggressive -- a little chocolate hug, not a punch in the face. Now let's discuss my true passion: the Espresso Martini. I'm picky. I judge. I rank. And this one? Top 5 status immediately. Smooth, not too sweet, made with nitro espresso... this is how espresso martinis should be done. I also sipped on the Decoy by Duckhorn Merlot, which was giving all the right cozy, velvety vibes. And as if the night wasn't good enough, Joshua casually mentioned the rooftop lounge is reopening in spring. So yes, I'll be back. Probably before they even unlock the door. If you need a sign to go -- this is it. And if you're searching for a reason not to? Sorry, I simply cannot help you. Go get you an Expresso Martini .

My wife and I have wanted to come to Kona for a while now and chose to celebrate our two daughters…read morebirthdays.. called and made a reservation to make sure we got a seat. We arrived into the restaurant right at out reservation time and was promptly seated right next to the door, annoying since the restaurant wasn't busy with plenty of open tables. However I wouldn't have mentioned the seating if the rest of the experience wasn't a train wreck. We sat for about 10 minutes until we were approached by our server. We already had our order in mind and gave it to the server. Wife and I went with the advertised Kona $39 deal and girls got Bento boxes. Took almost another 10 minutes to finally get my drinks, they ran out of the 7 dollar soda that I ordered which slowed the rest of the drinks. Now here is where this experience went off the rails. From the time we got our drinks to our daughters meals and our salads was 30 minutes. Not once did our server check on us to explain what the delay was. At this point we have been in our seats for 50 minutes. Salads were as expected, except the asian salad was meh. The girls bento boxes were okay but food was all cold, the Bento boxes advertise an orange beer but we're out as well. Literally into our second bites of our salads another server is bringing out mine and wife's entrees. Rather than move away, the server that brought the food and our server argued about why they were out already. Because I was uncomfortable with the situation of them arguing next to our table I quickly made room for the plates. Both wife and I ordered the 6oz steaks that came with fries. They were the sadest looking steaks accompanied with cold crunchy fries. I will give that the steaks were cooked appropriately to temp and were decently seasoned. Now my daughters are asian, and one ordered white rice with her meal and she leaned over to mom and told her that it was nasty rice. While eating our disappointing food, we're again weren't checked on. When we were ready for to order our deserts, about 70 minutes into the experience, we let our server know as she was passing. Took her about 10 minutes to come get our order. We ordered the chocolate cake and double stacked brownie to-go and a box for one of my daughters food. Now at 80 minutes in the restaurant. I sent my wife and girls out because my daughters were spent at sitting there. I had checked the bill with one of those tables side pay devices and checked the details of the bill. I noticed the chocolate cake was $15 but instead of the brownie offered on the Kona deal, was the kids brownie for a $1. Took another few more minutes to grab my servers attention, so long in fact that 2 other servers noticed and offered to help. Got it pointed out to our server, said she would fix it. Cool. By the time she brought the desserts, she showed me the updated bill where she removed the cost of the cake, but left the dollar brownie.. she told me it it was no big deal since she took the cake off the bill, gave me the stacked brownie in the bag and also put a cheesecake in the bag. At this point it was 1 hour and 50 minutes in the restaurant. We got home. Yes I had the cake, the new cheesecake but no stacked brownie, but still got the kids brownie. I would not recommend this place to anyone expect maybe my enemies. I do appreciate the other attentive servers who offered assistance. I would like to point out that we were never visited by a manager even after knowing there were plenty of mistakes, and who I think was a manager since he was wearing a black blazer setting him apart from the rest of the front of house staff, sure spent a lot of time at the table next to ours where 4 women were having a night out. Our server was kind, but needs some retraining.
