My new favorite Japanese spot! We started with their piping hot, crispy chicken Karaage. The yuzu sauce that came with it was lemony and refreshing with a hint of spice. My mom had their miso black cod that came with rice and green beans. It was a big hunk of fish that's slowly baked to perfection. I had their tonkasu ramen which had thin al dente noodles, a whole egg, 2 big chunks of cha su pork. Pro tip, get a side of kimchi. Their kimchi is rich in flavor and garlicky goodness. The Ramen noodles have the perfect chew and the depth and richness of the broth is unmatched. Their sushi offerings are incredible. We ordered three rolls: Shrimp Tempura, California and Volcano. They were all delicious and a good variety for a first timer. The presentation was beautiful, the ingredients were fresh and flavorful and our favorite was the Volcano-whish had a nice tangy flavor with the lemon/citrus. To finish off the meal, we ordered some mochi-mango and black sesame seed. Both were delicious and the perfect way to top off the meal. There was plenty of seating for everyone and they had the chopstick helpers for the three kids in our party which they were very happy about. I would definitely say the ambiance is very kid friendly. My boyfriend and I come from California so we were hesitant to try a place in Utah that served both Ramen and Sushi. But we were pleasantly surprised. The broth in the Tonkatsu was subtle and rich. Nothing stood out in terms of the broth being garlicky, etc. but it had good consistency. The pork belly was marinated and cooked very well. We hadn't had pork belly cooked that amazing in a while. This place is so great. I've been here many times and they always deliver. Great sushi, great flavors, great service. Their rolls are unique and so tasty. I feel like they have so many different rolls than other places. We always get the Kill Bill and the Mr Miyagi and then mix up the rest. The flavors are all so smooth and marry really well, while still being different. You know how sometimes you get multiple rolls and feel like they are all pretty similar? Not here. The food... overcooked, under-flavored, way over-priced. We ordered sushi and it was not fresh and tasted almost soggy. We also ordered the Teriyaki chicken plate with rice and veggies. (Price was almost $17 for that plate) The chicken was enough for a small child and only maybe 1/2 cup of white rice. It was overcooked and not seasoned. I paid less per plate in Honolulu, and the food was SO much better:( We left and had to actually eat somewhere else because we were still hungry. Maybe it was an off night, but they weren't busy. Wanted to try a new sushi place out and this wasn't too far away from where I live. We got there a little bit after it opened on Sunday and were quickly seated. She gave us the option of choosing between a booth or table which was nice. Not busy at all during this time (430pm on a Sunday). We ordered our apps which came out within a reasonable amount of time. Personally not the biggest fan but I think it was a personal issue with the texture of the cooked tuna more than anything. The flavor was nice with the dipping sauce but don't think I would order again. The rolls were really good. I know I got a tiger roll without cream cheese and the green hornet. I added lime slices to the top because I love the addition of citrus to my rolls. The fish was good and tender. Did not have a weird fishy odor or taste. The ingredients in each roll really suited the roll and complemented the other flavors well. The Billy Billy was ordered by a friend and I tried it. Personally the wagyu on top was not my favorite but I'm also not a big steak eater. This is a fairly affordable place as well. Overall, could definitely see myself returning! read more
