We were super hungry after shopping in the area and decided sushi was the move. The rolls were delicious but beware the spicy tuna has a real kick to it! My husband doesn't love sushi so he had teriyaki chicken and the serving was INSANE, so much food! The restaurant is super clean and the service was fast and efficient. Ordered through doordash and got two chicken katsu dishes, gyoza, three pork buns, and yangzhou fried rice. The food was delivered correctly and quickly. The gyoza and the entrees were delicious and it was the quietest our group had been all night while eating it. The pork buns were pretty dry and sadly most of them weren't finished. I have ordered them before a few years ago and the pork buns were my favorite so this was disappointing. I haven't had ham fried rice in so long and this was very good. Was seated quickly upon entering, and order was taken shortly after. Told them what I wanted in the ramen and what I wanted omitted. Ramen came out with everything I didn't want, they took it back to the kitchen and when the server came around I asked "where was the disconnect?" He went and verified he put the order in correctly. Another 20 minutes goes buy and they bring out the Ramen the way I ordered it, but broth was yuck. My cheap instant Ramen from the Asian market tasted better. I found myself in the area Friday night without a reservation anywhere, but having an empty belly. I was pleasantly surprised that I could walk right in and get a table-no wait at all! I said to myself, "this could be a good thing or a bad thing." I noticed that we were seated at about the same time as several other tables. Our poor server was struggling to keep up with all of us being in the same stages of our meal. She kept busy! A previous reviewer mentioned being obnoxiously checked in on-that was not our experience at all. We waited a bit more than we expected to place our order and then quite some time for our food to arrive. When it did come out, it was lukewarm on the outside, piping hot on the inside, telling me that it had sat for awhile waiting to get to us. I attribute that to our server being tied up with so many tables and not able to keep up. (There's a big hand-written sign on the front door saying that they are hiring. Hopefully they get some help soon.) As far as the food itself, everything was very good! We ordered a sushi roll, soup and a couple main dishes. The flavor was just right and the ratio of meat to veggies was good-sometimes places like to overwhelm you with cheap veggies and skimp on the meat. Not here. The serving sizes were also generous-I took a full box of food home to reheat the next day. I was very excited to try Tamashi after recommendations from a friend. Ordered to go. Note, they charge a service fee for ordering online. Not my favorite. Tried three different rolls - the executive, the playboy roll, and the Honolulu. I had a couple pieces of the playboy that still had pieces of shrimp shell inside. And maybe an off night, but the flavor was off and I had to spit them out. I licked a spot of the spicy Mayo from the executive off my finger and it tasted rancid. The tempura on the outside of the Honolulu was not quite cooked fully so really light in color and just a little soft. And although it was supposed to have green onion on top it didn't have that. The edamame is good so mostly made a meal out of that. Disappointing night for sure. read more

I've been making a lot of ramen runs in Utah County lately, as a few new ones have popped up, and there have been a few there that have been working their thing for a few years, and it's been soup season. Regardless the reason, I found myself in AF in need of a bowl of noodles and this new spot showed up on the Yelp app. The location is unfortunate--it's in the dark end of a strip mall that's quite dead at night, with very little natural traffic. The restaurant itself is pretty nice, though it's quite large and I imagine they're not filling it very regularly and the rent for that much square footage can't be cheap. It was ramen that called me in, and so I went with ramen. I think, however, that perhaps they're going to have a better chance of it with sushi, as that accounts for a gigantic portion of the menu. The ramen is only one small flap of the menu, and though they're trying to keep it diverse, I think I should probably just start by saying I would go with the sushi next time. My chicken ramen was just that--chicken ramen. It needed a lot of salt and chili oil, and that only brought it up to the level of just fine. I also tried the tonkotsu which is typically my favorite, but I was sad to say that it really wasn't up to snuff. I almost never let any food go uneated, but I didn't have too much heartbreak to see this bowl only half gone. Like I said, maybe stick with the sushi. Service was very very very very attentive. They were staffed up pretty thick and only had a few tables, so we were asked, "Is there anything I can do for you" a few too many times, but hey, I would MUCH rather that than have servers disappear all night long. They're new and working things out, so hopefully the service and food get tightened up and they hit a rhythm. read more

Stopped by Tamashi after a Saturday trip to Costco. If you've ever been to Costco on a Saturday you know just how hungry you will be after battling people throughout the store. Tamashi is in a smaller shopping center but has plenty of parking. I sat around 3:30pm without any issues. There were a few other groups but there was plenty of seating. Tamashi serves both regular sushi and all you can eat options. The waitress told me that because it was the weekend it was at dinner prices and drink was not included. At $27ish dollars I think it's a little on the pricey side but i came hungry so it wasn't too difficult to make if worthwhile. Just know that the lunch version of the ayce doesn't include "special rolls" but the dinner version does. I started off with some gyoza and miso soup. The gyoza were crispy and the sauce had a hint of sweetness with a good amount of tangy flavor. The miso was flavorful but I wish there was a little more tofu and seaweed. On my first set I rolls I went with some classics, spicy tuna and yellowtail jalapeño. The spicy tuna was so so it didn't offer as much flavor as I had hoped. The yellowtail jalapeño was perfect with just enough pepper to give it some good heat. My follow up roll was the sweetheart special roll. The spicy tuna combined with the avocado was a better balance than just the spicy tuna by itself. The slice of tuna topper with the sriracha sauce was fantastic. Overall, I think Tamashi isn't bad but I feel like the price tag was a little high. I'd like to come back and try the ramen, maybe another time. read more

Great food , great atmosphere , nice place to relax and be casual. Service is very nice and pretty quick. We came here twice now and one time it was a later evening and it wasn't too busy and food ( sushi) was very fresh and affordable for two. Love their Nigiri and you get much more for the price you pay. We came in the afternoon for lunch and the place was quiet and the food was very good as well. The only thing I would suggest for them is to learn English a bit more, so that if you have questions with the menu you can be directed to the perfect meal you'd enjoy. If you have never eaten sushi or ramen then this could be a lot to get info from if their English is a bit hard to understand. Please I'm not complaining either just giving you info on it . Used to live in Hawaii so I have had my fair share of good sushi. I was not expecting much from this restaurant but we were craving sushi and this place was open a little later than other sushi places in the area. Place looks nice when you walk in but the food was so underwhelming and tasteless. The fish tasted very old and the rolls have very little flavor. Also, each roll had a ridiculously small amount of fish on them. For the quality of the food the sushi was majorly overpriced. Went home and my wife got sick after eating here. We were looking for some fresh, local sushi and decided to try Tamashi Ramen & Sushi bar vs. Nori that's right across the street. Both had the same 4/5 star ratings on Google, but I saw Tamashi was doing 50% rolls. I thought I had to see this for myself. The parking lot was pretty full when we got there, but no other customers were inside when we walked in for lunch time on a weekday afternoon. There were several to-go orders that came in consistently as we sat. They started to fill up by the time we were leaving though. We ordered a couple large Sapporos for $7 each (normal price) and a bottle of cold Diamond Sake. No complaints here except always wish the sake bottle was bigger! The house salad we shared was okay, but I thought it was dry. We asked for an extra side of dressing, but when I added it to the salad, I realized the salad wasn't actually dry, the dressing was just flavorless. Bummer as I LOVE good ginger dressing. We ordered a couple rolls to share: the Yellowtail Jalapeno and the Salmon cut rolls. The yellowtail roll was a little gray and too fishy for me to stomach. The salmon was just okay. Still a little fishy. I let my BF finish them both. Since we ordered more than $20 worth, our waitress brought us a free Rock Star roll which was an awesome complimentary item. I noticed the sign special when we walked in, but I didn't want to inquire and seem greedy. It was really cool that we didn't have to ask. Since the roll was fried, the fishy aspect didn't come through as much, so this was the best roll of the day. I hate to write reviews like this because the service was friendly and attentive, and there are some great deals but I would not return for the quality / taste of the food. However, I would return for the drinks, ambiance and deals. Extremely okay food, I was a bit disappointed in the rolls though. They looked sloppy and cheap. But I guess that's what you get when they only cost five dollars. Also, they had their logo on all their plates and everything else except their cups. But that was just something that bugged me personally. And another thing, it's called Tamashi Ramen and Sushi Bar. But they only have like three okay ramen choices and forty plus semi better than fast food sushi choices. Honestly, it's a good place to go if you want something fast and cheap. I got a flyer in the mail and decided to come try it. I was a little nervous considering the variety of food offered that it would be mediocre. They have Japanese, Thai and Chinese food options. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, and my husband got the spicy pork ramen. We also got cream cheese wontons, spring rolls and a Vegas sushi roll. All of the food was hot and fresh. The waiter was really great though, he was apologetic when they forgot half our food and didn't weren't able to deliver what we did get all at once. But in the end we ended up leaving completely disappointed and will not likely ever go back unless the new management reverts things back the way they were before the change. We left with our bellies full but I'd rather pay 2-3X and get better quality. What was great: friendly staff that were willing to answer all sorts of inane questions from my ramen noob parents and in-laws. lol. The egg in my ramen was good. What was not great: The plating was very disconcerting. Particularly the plating of the sushi. We ordered the tiffany roll (not my fave, but not bad), and it came out in a clear glass bowl with red and green flashing lights underneath a bed of rice noodles. How clean were the lights? Had they been washed between platings? The flashing lights made me feel like I was in a cheap buffet in Vegas. Not quite what I signed up for. The other rolls my folks and in-laws ordered came with big old tree-like things. I kept thinking, how sanitary are these? Very unappetizing. My mom's Tonkatsu ramen basically had cheap bacon in it instead of pork belly. It was rubbery. So the good first. I needed to order sushi to go and was pleasantly surprised with their online ordering system. It was very efficient and when I had to call to make a change, they knew about my order and there was no problem making the change. I arrived at the restaurant a couple of minutes before my pick up time and my order was ready 5 minutes after the pick up time. I considered giving it 2 starts because of this but the sushi was so bad that I just could not. Let's talk about the actual place. I was just picking up an order but the first thing I noticed when I entered where ladders and a mess against a back wall. Then as I waited and looked around noticed empty cardboard boxes on the bar and clutter in different places of the restaurant. Definitely not a place to come for the ambiance (and neither the sushi as you will read below). Now for the most important thing, the food. This review is exclusively about the sushi because that is all we ordered. Food appearance is very important when eating, and these rolls looked a mess. The spicy crap that topped the citrus rolls looked looked like orange play doh (You know that kind you pushed through the mold to look like spaghetti?). The rolls were not well rolled or cut so there were ragged pieces of nori showing. The salmon and tuna were about the same grayish color--it was hard to tell them apart. Maybe just maybe it would not taste as bad. Nope it was worse. The cucumbers in the roll were yellow, limp and rancid. The avocado was also rancid. The shrimp was like rubber. The fish was fishy and actually dried out--it was like jerky in some bites. We all tried some but then gave the dog the rest of the sushi (without the avocado)--most expensive dog food ever. I have never, ever been so afraid of getting food poisoning and being responsible for others having food poisoning. It has been almost 24 hours and no one is showing symptoms, so that's good. read more

I went in here yesterday with my brother and a friend. We were driving by the area and noticed that new sign on front. Everyone in the restaurant were super nice and attentive with drinks. They always came to check up on us. The place looks nice inside and you can see they put thought in the new place. The food is great. I ordered some pork bun and shrimp appetizers. The sushi was like a work of art. They came out with some tree decor that matched the style of the sushi. Very interesting. I enjoyed the food and we will be coming back again. If I were to suggest something when ordering it would be the pork bun. It's a good taste and always reminds me of anime. It's $5.00 for 2 pork bun and you can share. Trust me super good. read more

California Roll: the roll was actually really great and the favorite part of the meal. Much bigger than other sushi places around and had a great fresh taste. Also they were very well rolled. Sweet and Sour Chicken: the flavor was nice. The chicken pieces were very small, they were primarily a very doughy batter. Pad Thai: just odd. Very sweet, no other flavor then sweetness and juice from the lemon. The delectable peanut flavor was missing. Thai Yellow Curry: the flavor was almost there but definitely missing some salt and heat. Tamashi was a nice discovery for us tonight on our search for sushi. Aa far as Utah Valley sushi goes, this place does well. There's a great variety of sushi and other menu items such as appetizers, entrees and ramen, of course. All sushi rolls are "50% off". I put that in quotation marks because I don't think you can say an item is 50% off when it's built into the menu. However, the rolls are about half the price you'd pay for similar rolls and quality at a neighboring like sushi bar. This is by far the best value for pretty good sushi I've found in the area. Prices for other menu items were also at least a buck or two cheaper than comparative restaurants in the area. I definitely recommend you give this place a try. read more
