Our favorite restaurant is under new management and they've made a few changes. We're excited to try the new items and for the most part, it's pretty good. Here's a breakdown... - the place looks exactly the same so you'd never know it had new owners. - the new food options are pretty good. The pad Thai ranks among the best in Utah County. - the Tom Kha was salty and missing lemongrass and cilantro. My dining partner and I finished up a nearby hike and were ready for some food. The sign in the window was advertising a Happy Hour special for $9.99 and the small(ish) print teasingly said that the price was valid until mortgage rates were at 3.5%. I think it's safe to say that the happy hour price will remain $9.99 for a good while. The mood is dark and intimate-walls painted black, but plenty of outside light. It makes for a nice combination. Service is subdued but friendly enough. The sushi was pretty good. We each got the happy hour special and enjoyed a roll and order of edamame. Flaming sushi roll was very good made with raw tuna and nice homemade sauce (tuna mayo roe sesame oil). The fire roll was very tangy and fresh tuna. Only disappointment was the large sashimi plate, the tuna and white fish were not the freshest. The octopus was very chewy and not fresh. Good service but needs more food turnover. read more

The miso soup and mini teryaki chicken had great flavor. The teryaki sauce was just the right amount of sweet and the chicken was slightly crispy and hot. The miso soup was refreshing and had a small amount of seaweed. The sashimi was disappointing. I don't like wasabi but when I opened the box, a few of the pieces were covered in wasabi. Would be beneficial if they were separate. The salmon and tuna tasted fine but the yellowtail was slightly chewy and I couldn't finish it. I wish I could give them 4 stars but I just can't. We came on a Monday for lunch and there was four of us. There were two other parties in the restaurant. Our waitress took awhile to come over and grab our drink orders. She honestly didn't seem to care very much, which was unfortunate. I liked that they had their tasty plates where you can try three different rolls (all smaller portions) for the price of one roll. I tried the Jalapeno, Vegas, and Sakura. We started with the pot stickers as well. They were actually quite nice. Crispy on the outside and hot! The sushi took at least 40 minutes. The restaurant wasn't busy at all and they had two sushi chefs. The amount of salmon, tuna, and crab in my rolls were basically nonexistent. The Vegas roll wasn't even warm when it came out. The Sakura was the best roll but I would give it a 6/10. The service was just so slow and our waitress didn't seem to care about us. Unfortunately, I don't think I would be back anytime soon or recommend them unless they made some improvements to the food and the service. Not a quick bite like other sushi spots. read more

I'm impressed! We recently moved from SoCal and I've honestly had low expectations for sushi in a land locked state but wow I think we found our new spot to come here in Utah county! I just recently started eating here at Sushi up. I've only done online orders, but so far everything has been amazing!!!! I only like veggie sushi so I can't say anything about the other rolls, but the VEGETABLE TEMPURA ROLL IS DIVINE. I get it without spicy Mayo, extra eel sauce & MAN. I crave this roll every single day. The staff has always been pleasant & sometimes they'll throw me a menu item to try for doing an online order! The sushi I ordered were good but not the dragon rolls, their katsu comes with rice but not as good as other places. Their gyozas were good and their lunch box was a big portion. The good thing about their sushi is they have 3 item combo so you can choose 3 sushi in one meal. read more

I visited this place with my wife today as a good memory since I visited in the past.  There was a new menu called sushiup meal, so we ordered it.  It was really nice to be able to eat fresh fish, sushi, and my favorite selection menu.  It was also nice that the owner explained the menu himself.  The staff were all friendly too. I was pleasantly surprised by inside decor of this place and the seating. The server was really nice and patient with us as well. She even smiled as well. The inside was also great for a date setting and is quite enough you can have a conversation and actually hear what's being said. The sushi was pretty good and a fairly decent amount per roll. The price wasn't too bad either. They were also pretty fast at making it but that could have been because it was less busy when we went. This place is special. People are often going up to the sushi chefs and staff and complimenting them. And boy howdy do they deserve it. The rolls are incredibly consistent and delicious. I think I've tried all of the rolls that don't have salmon (I'm not much of a salmon sushi fan). If you're not into sushi, this place has the best chance at changing your mind. The fish is clean and fresh. I love how they build their rolls with the rice on the outside for all of my favorites. I adore the Sakura, Shrimp Tempura, Elvis (ok this one is a seaweed on the outside but it's so good), Asparagus, TnT (those little baby shrimp take it to the next level). Their Spicy Mango is the best in the state. The Rocky Tuna is so expletive-ly good. The bento meals are great. I don't like teriyaki chicken. It always has an aftertaste in my mind. I don't feel that way with Sushi Up's teriyaki chicken. It's perfect. And if you've made it this far in my adoration Sushi Up, you need to try the Dragon Hearts. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh they are something my soul didn't know it needed. It's got it all. Ok I should be done. I'm fanboying over here. If I had to pick one place in Utah county to eat at, this would be my pick. We ate our food within 10 minutes and legit our waitress would avoid our table, glance at us, ignore us and not go by our table. Great food and excellent service! I really appreciated that they made me something special that was gluten free. It was delicious.

Waited 45 minutes for first roll, while tables around received multiple plates. Never checked on us or refilled drinks. Waitress spilled our soy sauce and then just walked away. Had to call her back and ask for more napkins or a cloth, especially since we only had 2 thin napkins to begin with, and we used those to stop the spread of soy as it rolled across the table. Sushi rolls were mostly ok. Got the King Crab roll which tasted strongly of burnt rice or maybe kerosene. Couldn't eat it. Only other time someone came to the table was to bring the check. Never asked how we were or if we liked it, or if we wanted a box for the uneatable roll. Very sad experience. read more

The red flag should have been the over cluttered counter tops of cleaning supplies and kitchen supplies but we still tried it.Service was good but the food wasn't the greatest. I played safe and ordered a bento box with katsu chicken. When the food came out is was a oval chicken patty with black vinegar sauce all over it and looked like it was microwaved also the so called hand made goyza was the standard Costco fried pot stickers. The Cali rolls were also twangy I don't know why that was but it was the first time I couldn't eat a Cali roll. Everything was vinegary. I like vinegar but just couldn't have it in everything. We also ordered temper appetizers which was 2 shrimp and and one potato one squash and like 4 green beans. It was a joke for almost 10$ the rolls are small 4-5 pc per roll.
