I was excited that there's a promising Japanese restaurant with great reviews opened near by, so we decided to give them a try. Not feeling like sushi and big fans of tonkasu and ramen, we decided to order those two items. The ramen and the tonkasu came out with decent presentation, but that's where it ends. My tonkasu instead of a decent piece of cutlet, it was a sliver of meat as thin as a piece of cardboard fried to the point of it turned to a piece of jerky. I did complain to the server and they replaced it with another small sliver of meat but better cooked. There were not much vegetables with the meal, some sautéed bell peppers and onions drowned in soy sauce, and a small scoop of rice that is hard. $15.90. The ramen was nothing special, not even sure if they actually made the broth themselves, but when you marinated Hard boiled eggs in soy sauce for however long with the well cooked yolk soaked in the soy sauce, they are just salty, and the piece of egg we got was exactly that, we also got three slices of uncooked fish cakes that came straight from the package, sliced, cold and in the bowl. $14.50. The ambiance is modern and clean, but I do wonder how a brand new restaurant's ventilation can be so bad that after the meal, we smelled like we were cooking in front of a fryer all day. Service was decent, there was only one server running the whole show. She was friendly but maybe overwhelmed, served us the appetizer without plates to eat on, asking if we needed forks and forgot to bring them when we said we would like to have forks. Maybe the great reviews are for the sushi? We are not going to go back to find out after today's experience though. One star for the decent service and one star for the veggie tempura which was the only thing we actually enjoyed. Why we finished our food? Because we were hungry and didn't think we'll get refund if we just leave the food untouched. read more

Warmly welcomed upon entering- which is always appreciated! Came here on a quiet Friday night for the first visit. Seated in one of the 3 booths available. Service was good and attentive, gave good recommendations. Sushi and shrimp appetizer were just OK, nothing that knocked my socks off. What really threw me off was the lighting - white canned recessed lighting, mixed in with slightly warm modern light fixtures. The lights right above the booth were pretty invasive, needs to be dimmed down. On top of that, the restaurant was playing music like you're in a night club. Clean and nice sushi restaurant. We were the only ones dining in but there were quite a few people coming in for carry out. Our waitress was great, super friendly and attentive. But our food was slow to come out, they brought out our rolls one at a time which wasn't a huge deal but we were all eating at different times. For appetizers, we ordered their spicy garlic edamame, cheese wontons and miso soup, which were all good. For sushi, we ordered their Acevichado roll, crunchy tuna roll, poke roll and the p.g. Roll. The favorite was definitely the poke roll. Overall, it was a good experience. read more

We unfortunately had a very negative experience at this restaurant due to extremely poor customer service. From the moment we entered, the waitress was very obviously annoyed that we asked for booth (we have small children). Although the restaurant was not very busy, the waitress came across as rushed, cold, and inattentive throughout the evening. On multiple occasions, she would walk away in the middle of us asking a question. Whether intentional or not, the interaction felt unprofessional and created an uncomfortable atmosphere for our family. As far as the food goes, it was just okay. We had to ask for certain items multiple times over a span of 30 minutes before receiving them including refills on drinks, napkins, utensils and sou sauce. My wife waited even waited over 45 minutes for her single sushi roll - which was not fried or fancy. Our children ordered ramen without the chicken, but was still given the meat which wasn't a big deal - but we were still charged for the meat even after letting them know it wasn't what we ordered. We asked if it would be okay to split our ramen into two bowls before being brought out, but were told they were too busy in the back to do so... which seems pretty unreasonable. After bringing it to our waitresses's attention that there was a problem, she quite literally stopped coming to our table at all and another waiter had to awkwardly pick up her slack. He was kind, but overwhelmed with the job and we sat there without help for quite some time. It was uncomfortable and could've been completely avoided. At the end, my wife asked if it was alright to speak with the manager about the experience, and was told that he was "busy" and could contact us later... When a paying customer asks to speak with a manager, they should never be told "no" or that management is too busy to address their concerns. That level of disregard for customer service was honestly shocking and only made an already frustrating experience even worse. There was a complete lack of professionalism, communication, and basic customer care throughout the entire visit. When we first walked in the restaurant was empty which kind of was a red flag however our waitress was really nice. As for the food the Dragon Roll was delicious and so were the cheese wontons and gyoza, but the tempura platter and katsu don weren't as good. The Katsu was quite dry and the tempura was quite bland. Ambiance: clean well appointed pleasant staff, no issues. Food: so in general good. I didn't try enough items to form a good opinion. I'd say this the miso soup was brought to the table it was warm not hot, I'm not a fan of seaweed in my miso this is personal preference I understand the need for it while cooking obviously. The tofu was mid at best, there are better providers I'd search one out. The wasabi was not super fresh and did not have the bite that you would expect. To be fair fresh wasabi is expensive and by the looks of it this is a new restaurant, I think the general palate in UT can't tell the difference so maybe don't change it. I tried a couple of rolls I purposely picked the ones with a Peruvian bent to them. Tasty, not overly spicy at all. I'll be back to try more. Frankly if anything not up to the spice levels that I expected. Again the UT palate is probably not up to the legit spicy levels. Last comment. The menu is huge 3+ pages and while I appreciate the variety it's impossible to do that many dishes perfectly. My advice pair the menu down, if you can't fit it on one page or a page and a half it's too big. It will also save on food costs. I'll be back and would recommend others try it also. read more

Brand new restaurant that has a simple, but modern and elegant design. I went on a Saturday afternoon and we walked right in. We got three different roles: the Ernest Hemmingway, the Acevichado and the Huancaina. I especially liked the last two. They do an amazing job of integrating traditional Peruvian ingredients and flavors with the sushi you know and love. They have some more traditional Japanese style rolls if that's your jam, but I loved this place and will definitely be back. read more

Everything was fresh. I can tell if the fish is fresh. I'm from the gulf coast and not many places here have fresh fish. This tasted clean! Presentation and plating were on point Price is on par with competitors. Service was polite and friendly. We had 5 rolls And like them all. The fuego was our favorite.
