Went for lunch today. It was not busy at all until about 12:30. Service was a little bit chaotic and offbeat, but our waitress did a fine job. I suppose it was just a little awkward to walk into an empty restaurant at 11:45 a.m. on a Thursday (there were of course a few employees there). Overall vibe was alright, but nothing exciting. The poke nachos were delicious, but the portion could have been a little larger. Also wish there was a tuna option for the nachos. Menu felt quite small. Fresh tuna nigiri and unagi nigiri were both great. We did have a mix-up where we checked off the items we wanted on the menu and gave it to our server, and actually did not receive what we ordered. We honestly didn't notice immediately until we got the bill, but our confusion of getting Unagi instead of Madai made a lot more sense once we figured it out. I was super sad that we didn't end up getting the Madai, mostly because we were running out of time and had to go somewhere, otherwise I would have told the server about the issue. Under wraps is overall worth the visit, with the food being dialed in with presentation and well thought out flavors. The overall experience and value was lacking though. read more

Tried Under Wraps on a lunch break while I was in the area, and I'm glad I did. The food was really good. Definitely exceeded expectations for a quick stop. It was my first time there, and the staff was super helpful walking me through the menu, which I appreciated. The vibe inside is cool and laid back, and the food leans more traditional style, which I liked. I ordered the salmon hand roll, salmon nigiri, poke nachos, and hamachi sashimi. Everything was fresh and well put together. Had a work lunch for 12 people on a Wednesday -- there were not a lot of people in the restaurant. I wish I had a better understanding of the menu, because I didn't quite seem to get my order in place. A sushi place that doesn't have regular rolls? consider me confused! I thought the portions were small, and overpriced. No fountain drinks always loses a star from me as well. I may not be the right audience for Under Wraps, but I do love a good sushi roll, so I was excited to give this place a try. It's theme is all around anime and Japanese culture, but every staff member I saw was white and looked fresh off a Mormon mission. Not that it's a bad thing, but I question the authenticity. The "hand rolls" are not the traditional cone shape, they look like regular sushi rolls that were just not cut to bite size. They were tricky to eat-too big for two bites, but after two, the ingredients fell apart and made for a clumsy dining experience. One of my rolls wasn't even full all the way-it looked like they ran out of rice. The flavor was pretty good, however. Service was fine-nothing outstanding, but we didn't wait longer than I felt was reasonable. I truly appreciate the culinary skill that the chef demonstrated with this themed dinner. Everything was truly amazing. So fresh, flavorful, and the presentation was amazing! Wait wasn't bad, service was a little longer than anticipated. Several customers that arrived after us had their orders taken and food received a lot sooner than we did. Seems a little chaotic. I LOVEEEE under wraps. It is the best of best. All the workers are so nice and the owner always comes and chats if he's in. They also always have an anime movie playing and no other restaurants I know do that. We always get the sesame ginger salad and it is the BEST. The pickled daikon in it is so yummy and the sauce is so simple and refreshing. The waygu burger is soooooo good and melts in your mouth. The fries are soooooo good too. The salmon is good and the bok choy is crispy and the mini mushrooms are so good in it too. It was a little heavy on the sauce but that's the only complaint. Lastly the hamachi sashimi is my favorite thing that I get every time. Also they have the best options for celiac !! Most things are gluten free. read more

Went back for a birthday dinner with my husband. Food took a long time in between plates. Their hand rolls are incredible! Their wagyu tare was also super yummy. But their yakisoba sauce was SOOOO SWEET it's like they've never tasted authentic yakisoba. Super big bummer. It was so bad I had to ask for some sriracha. Their gyoza wasn't cooked properly, as the tops were uncooked dough. Felt like it needed more variety inside. All I saw on the inside of the gyoza was meat. The menu said it had more in there- so they need to put a lot more cabbage etc in there (will help their margins too) Lastly, the service was fine, nothing special. I think there are a lot better options for sushi in the area. Probably won't go back. read more

Overall this was a solid spot, and they staff were very accommodating, kind, and prompt despite being busy on a Friday night. We sampled a fair bit of their menu; sticking to the hand rolls, sashimi and nigiri. We enjoyed the sashimi the most, and the poke nachos second. It's definitely a little more expensive than other sushi places, but solid quality. I would not go back for the hand rolls alone, but might go back for our top two items. Obssessed with this place - freshest and highest quality sushi you'll find! Under Wraps is my top favorite sushi restaurant in Utah, hands down. They offer the freshest fish and are extremely consistent! Lately, I've noticed a handful of my old fave sushi spots in Salt Lake drop significantly with the quality of their fish. Under Wraps has kept it 100 this whole time! They specialize in handrolls, sashimi plates, and nigiri but have lots of great non-sushi options too. If you're a fan of American rolls and lots of cream cheese you're not going to find that here. There is no need to mask the fish here with tons of toppings or sauces. Anything they do add truly enhances the flavor of the fish and doesn't overpower it! On the lunch menu there is a chirashi bowl that I've gotten at least 7 times. It's a little sampling of various sashimi (usually includes the hamachi, tuna, salmon, scallops, and spicy tuna). The rice here is just as on point as their fish! I LOVE this bowl! Besides the bowl, I also love their hamachi sashimi plate, all of the nigiri, and unagi handroll. Poke nachos are delicious too, as is the yakisoba noodles which is offered for dinner. The interior is very unique, fun, and inviting. They have a wall with anime artwork and actually even play anime on their middle screen for dinner. The sushi bar is very wide and open. Cocktails and mocktails are also available. Highly recommend Under Wraps! This is not only my fave sushi spot, but one of my top favorite restaurants in Utah County in general! read more

The food was good, don't get me wrong. I feel as though since the rolls are much smaller they should be a little cheaper so you can get more of them. Another thing I thought was it needs booths, so they can sit more without feeling like you're so close to people. And to separate the people who are waiting to be seated. This is Skyler's second restaurant to open in Pleasant Grove, and we couldn't be more pleased! We are already instant fans of Wok The Line (which is located in the same plaza, just across the way) and we're so happy that this place opened up that adds so much to our quaint little city. The decor and ambiance of this place are TOP NOTCH - a great place to bring a lunch date, date night, or even a work lunch meeting. They have a private room available for a more intimate meal setting. The wall art is quite modern and sophisticated at the same time. There is an option to sit at the bar area or sit at a table. For our first time here, we sat in the bar area for lunch and had a nice view of the chefs preparing our food. We had: edamame, chicken karaage, and shrimp tempura to start with. I ordered it with a side of rice (I like to eat my chicken karaage with rice) and it was cooked to perfection. The shrimp tempura is one of the best I've had, battered LIGHTLY and seasoned well, to taste more of the shrimp itself. The sashimi was delightful and the handrolls were done well. Also had the most perfect mocktail that included lychee in it, and was colored purple - took me instantly to an exotic island with every sip! On Election Day we had some recent business success to celebrate. We took seven (7) of us to Under Wraps in Pleasant Grove. Upon arrival, we left it to the owner and his Chef Jake to create some serious tastiness.... What rolled out of their kitchen was exceptional, delicious and fresh as could be! Of particular note, the hot miso was perfect on this cold day! The cauliflower was great; the poke nachos were amazing; and the cucumber salad exceeded expectations. The fresh wasabi is a game changer and all sushi family items were fantastic. We chased it all with a killer pumpkin chocolate chip gelato - special flavor of the day! Seriously, a new favorite place for Sushi - but it was so much more! The ambiance was comfortable with great energy and the place was 3/4 full for a Tuesday lunch hour! The pricing was reasonable and parking was plentiful. In the same newly constructed restaurant strip mall, one has 10+ food options. You won't be disappointed with Under Wraps; it is a soon to be discovered Utah County gem! I'm so happy to discover this place! The decor is clean and stylish, and service was prompt, friendly, and helpful. Their sushi menu is limited, but what they do have is excellent. I had the miso soup, seaweed salad, and a salmon with puffed rice hand roll, and every bite tasted fresh and delicious. I was also blown away by the "Ain't Life A Peach" mocktail--so yummy! I also appreciate the seriousness and nuance with which they treat gluten intolerances. They have a gluten-free menu that clarifies which are naturally GF or can be made GF, which ones are subject to cross-contamination, and which cannot be made gluten-free. These are very important distinctions that I almost never see in restaurants! They also have gluten-free soy sauce (tamari) available upon request. I see some commenters complaining about the prices, but they're in line with or even a little lower than most quality sushi restaurants I've visited, so I was very satisfied with the value of my meal! read more

Honestly, not a fan. I was really excited to try this place which made the dissatisfaction so sad. When I go out to eat I really want full meal portions. At the price point I also expect the highest quality. Both were a let down. This would be a good place if you were only wanting a light snack but it's not a full meal. First, the tuna. They have a spice rub on top that lit my mouth on fire! I didn't care for it but my friend did so if you like spice it's a good option. Second the salmon, the cuts are very thin and not very fresh. Honestly this was a big sadness for me I love salmon so if you don't deliver there then it's a bit of a let down. Third, the shrimp tempura hand roll. This was my FAVORITE roll. If you do decide to go here get this roll. The tempura was cooked perfectly and I appreciated the flavors. Honestly, the staff was excellent and that's what keeps the rating higher than one star. I have some allergies and they accommodated them graciously and went out of their way to try and find something I could enjoy. While I appreciated the effort the meal was disappointing. If I ever just want a couple of rolls to accompany another meal I would stop in here again but for a full meal it would be exceptionally expensive to get enough food for a full meal. read more

The food is artwork. I ordered the 7 spice tuna sashimi and salmon chimichurri sashimi. It's not your ordinary "only fish" sashimi. They were topped with garnishments and sauce. Surprisingly it balances very well. It gives it a lot of flavor to the fish, and a different takeaway to sashimi. About 3-4 pieces of sashimi. If you want something simple, their hand rolls were just seaweed wrap, rice, and fish (more rice than fish). 1 hand roll about $5-13. The most prettiest of them all was their Lychee Fizz drink. So pretty and tasty! Purple magical drink. To sum it up, this place is all about the details and experience. The atmosphere is great and I love sitting at the bar with the anime wall view. We keep coming back because the fish is fresh, prepared well, and the rolls come out perfect every time. We love the simplicity of the rolls and that it's never an overwhelming dining experience.
