Water heater went out and the landlord lives super far away and asked us to step in. Inquired around and after discussing the specifics of multiple estimates we went with Robert at Water Heaters Express and he did not disappoint. Nothing short of the name and reputation. I sent him current pictures and he gave an out the door estimate that made me question why other companies were gouging with their quotes. Anyways. Service wise, he was a pro on the phone and you could tell he wasn't just out to snag invoices at quick fixes on a almost 13 year old cheaper branded tank that would just lead to having to install a new one. The day before, no names, but a guy came out and didn't even ask what was wrong he looked at the tank said he'd get a part and be right back. I had to stop him. We called Water Heaters Express about our leaking water heater and the owner Rob answered. He was great from the first time we spoke to him. He asked what kind of water heater (size) we had but I didn't know. We took a picture, text it to him and he let us know what we had, what we needed and that he could fix it next day. We asked if he could come out to take a look to do an estimate but there was no need he was able to quote us a price (which I will say was much more reasonable than the previous quote we received from another company) and we were happy with his price. It's not often that one can it was a real pleasure dealing with a contractor when something is going wrong with one's house, but, in this case, it's the truth. A contractor like Robert is a real find. Unfortunately, he only does water heaters. There's a lot of stuff around here that's calling out for attention. Our water heater had been getting worse and worse (random shut offs, valve control failures, and more trouble)Called for a quote and he got back right away. Texted him some photos and got an estimate for replacing 40 gallon tank with another tank and a second quote range for tankless. Decided on tankless and he came the next day to give a more specific estimate - he was very respectful of our time and house. After getting the estimate I asked him to upgrade the unit (equivalent of replacing a 40 gallon with 50 gallon unit, but tankless - better if we need to use both showers and the washer at the same time). He immediately updated the estimate by the exact unit price difference. Started work just two days after the estimate. He did quick work but great on details (plywood backing into studs so placement was optimal, clean everywhere, set to my requested temp, etc) that will make the installation better for a long time and immediately just right. His price was the same as the lowest quote I got (of 7 different estimates as far and anywhere between Santa Rosa, Fairfield, and Concord). But the unit he installed was better reviewed and powered than anyone else, even the much more expensive companies. We got a Noritz EZTR50 (and upgrade from our 40 gallon tank to this tankless setup). He even contacted the manufacturer not to see if our Gad lines would work "good enough" but that they would be optimal even when temperatures drop to below freezing. He even explained how to descalce the heater annually without breaking the bank having a plumber do it each time. That maintenance cost could have negated any savings from the tankless setup, but now I'll just have a one time equipment cost (about $120) instead of paying a plumber $200+ every year. Great tip! I can't recommend Robert enough. The best price, great unit, no upselling, and SUPER fast from the first contact to never running out of hot water. read more

Water Heater Express came up so I gave them a call, this is late on a Sunday, and Robert answered.
