Previously we…read moresaved money using different storage companies that cluster on Varner Rd & Monterey just north of the 10 freeway, but every time at Varner Rd storage facilities when I opened the unit door ----- even when the unit was inside the deep hallway of a protective building ----- there was a sheet of desert dust caked over and into every item. Yuck. StorAmerica's 42nd street location surprised and delightfully beat my expectations whenever I slide up the unit door I can actually see our possessions ----- and they are not covered by a blanket of dirt. The reason is the wisdom of the old expression "location location location," because there are many country clubs and built up infrastructures adjacent for miles that have paved or put acres golf greens over the wild desert dirt fields. If you are newcomer to the desert, the season of spring and early summer bring weekly powerful wind storms that blow dirt at dust bowl scale, causing rivers of rural desert sand to pelt cars and knock treess down and sand in sudden rivers of dirt blow across highways, blinding vision on some roads, stirring debris and every kind of leaf and pollen to nature's sudden drumbeat. Thankfully, this StorAmerica ----- Not being at the vulnerable edge of town where there's miles of rural desert fields to fuel the dirt downpour ----- helps to keep to this place clean ----- inside and out ! Stephanie and Enereo are big helps too our family ------ for both are detail-oriented professionals with excellent management skills. They are friendly and answered all of our questions quickly. Restroom is clean as well, while nicely.. the available large truck motor runs well & is reliable because management keeps it well-maintained. All in all, thankfully it was throughout much cleaner than we expected {again, after storing at other companies on Varner Rd, sooo grateful for this discovery that this company StorAmerica's facility's location is largely free from exposure to desert sand blowing because it is insulated so well in...cleaner south Palm Desert. That's what makes it unique to the desert. The responsive Stephanie and Enereo sealed our experience with gratitude. They showed us great customer service. In the workplace there was not a grouchy attitude ----- they showed a zeal for deserved pride in this safe clean storage facility ----- fortified the old-fashioned way ---- by managers who live on-site.

How much of that is actually a TIP for the corporation. 2. The walls are paper thin and rattle. Someone next to adjacent storage sheds could literally punch the thin drywall and enter your shed through the paper thin walls. 3. The place is extremely dusty. You MUST cover your stuff. A fine sand and silt on everything! 4. No dolleys, no water fountain, no bathroom, the absolute CHEAPEST storage shed you could ever have. 5. We drove 60 miles to get some things and the computerized code entry machine did not work so no one could get into their storage. AND...no one answered the office number or answered the door. What a joke. There were 6 cars, including our rented van, that could not get in to our own storage shed. So we wasted gas, rental van fees, and tons of time on these idiots. 6. This is all about taking your money with crazy charges and the bare, bare, bare bones faciities. Especially for Palm Desert. You would expect more. 7. DO NOT BUY the locks that they sell you. My key for that lock actually worked on another unit! I accidentally opened the wrong shed, but closed it quickly. The keys can open other sheds!!!! WTF! 8. In my opinion, based on this location, I think this company is a joke. 9. Another thing: they use that AI crap and good luck being put on hold forever just to get a person in another country who can barely speak clear English.

We had a terrible experience renting a U-Haul trailer through Security Public Storage in Palm…read moreDesert on September 18, 2026. We reserved an 6 by 12 closed trailer, but it was not there when we arrived. The only employee on duty said the only trailer available was a 5 by 8. We had workmen expecting us at our destination the next day, so we took it. That meant leaving behind furniture we had planned to move. We were told we had to wait until we returned the trailer before requesting a credit for the downgrade. No one was available to hook up the trailer. No employees were working on a Friday afternoon. Fortunately, a former U-Haul employee who happened to be there picking up a trailer kindly hooked it up for us. Without his help, I don't know how we would have left with it. The woman at the desk also asked us to provide a photo of the hitched trailer. We bought several boxes, and I noticed at checkout that we had been charged more than the posted prices. The employee said she could not correct the $69.60 charge. Instead, she charged us $39.15 on a second invoice and said accounting would refund the original charge on Monday. A week later, that refund still has not appeared. After returning the trailer on Sunday, we called U-Haul about a partial refund for the smaller trailer. It took six calls before we received it. The whole experience was frustrating and poorly handled by both Security Public Storage and U-Haul. Security Public Storage was a joke. In the future, I would only rent and pick up directly from a U-Haul company store.

What a great company to handle your move!…read more Steve Labrano provided an estimate for our local move in Palm Springs. Steve is professional, prompt and puts you at ease with his knowledge of moving, and readily answered any questions, prior to the move. He even personally dropped off wardrobe and moving boxes the week before the move. Moving day, the crew showed up within the arrival window, and got right to work upon arrival. Our hats are off to Tony, Jaime, and Fernando. Great team and took great care when wrapping our furniture, and to care not to nick walls or the furniture. The guys kept us informed during the loading and unloading process. Tony made sure we walked through both residences together to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. If you need great movers, go with this company. They are professional and a great value for the level of service provided. Keep up the great work!

Customer service: F Ease of rental: F…read moreQuality of units: A+ Safety: C+ Ease of finding unit on own: A+ My experience: F Happiness with the facility overall: B+ (could use an app so there's no code to memorize) I arrived just in time at 5:40pm to a locked office door. The man inside begrudgingly came and let me in, did not introduce himself at all and I still don't know his name he told me he was the only one working there for the past two weeks and he closes early because he has a 15 minute checklist that he needs to go through before he leaves. So even though the time says open until 6 PM they actually close at like 540. I'm not a complicated person I'm not a take a long time kind of guy so I was fully prepared to just sign some documents and be on my way. I knew it was close to closing time and I wasn't going to take up this man's time more than like three minutes, but instead he had to sit me down at his desk as if I was a student in trouble and proceed to dump on me about how he's the only one that's there and even though I was told by the Customer Service people over the phone to just come in to discuss a lock situation (cause you need a super special cylinder lock which they alone have the master key to which I don't find comforting at all and so I attached two of my own locks to my unit.) apparently I should have known beforehand not to listen to the Customer Service people over the phone which he proceeded to drill me about as well. At this point I had about enough and I was just wanting to move into my unit and get things started so my patience was thin and I finally cut this man off and I said "OK what do I need to do to just move in right now" and he told me that I could sit in my car out in the 110° heat and do everything online because his checklist. I was completely insulted, I went outside and started a online check-in which I would've done beforehand again had the person over the phone at Customer Service not told me to "just come in" to see if I can get the lock price ($20) removed so while I was doing this out in the 110 degree heat, the move-in special suddenly disappeared so I tried calling them, I was person number one in line and I had zero people ahead of me and Customer Service would be with me momentarily. I listened to this and sat there for 20 minutes while it told me I was number one in line and zero people ahead of me. During this time I went online to chat to Customer Service on there which to my dismay was only a basic function AI bot. ** just a quick note to companies you really need to stop putting these bots as your main point of contact and making it so impossible to get a hold of someone, these bots are nothing more than redirection hyperlinks with an algorithm meant to direct you to different parts of the website in case you're too stupid to find them on your own. If it was something I could solve on my own I would just do it. You need to stop Underestimating the everyday Customer and make it more simple to just contact a live person, and also by the way making the bot take a couple seconds before it gives iT's algorithm Answer doesn't convince us anymore that it's a Human typing out an Answer, It just infuriates us** off my soapbox. So by the time all was said and done I managed to just work around it open a new browser in incognito mode go and managed to find the promotion again, paid the stupid lock fee because, whatever at this point, and moved into my unit. Oh but I should also add before doing so, I actually had to drive away to go charge my car because this whole process took so long and I had to run the AC the whole time because the 110° heat. The facility itself is actually not bad there's a sense of creepy atmosphere after the sun goes down when you're outside but for the most part it's very secure inside, people cannot hop from one paddock to the other via the ceiling which happens at a lot of these places. this was just my personal experience and my review of it, I did decide to stay at the unit because I was very happy with overall facility I sincerely hope my experience is not your experience.

Earlier this month I had reserved a 10x10 climate controlled unit at the Dinah Shore location due…read moreto the great value. I'm a planner so I tend to try and book events out before hand. The date I scheduled for my lease to begin was a little early for my move but was the furthest date I could reserve. I booked the until any way. Ariana, the location manager called me immediately after booking online and thanked me and we had a conversation about needing to push the move-in date back further. I was advised that the date change wouldn't be a problem and all I needed to do was call on the day my lease was to begin and she would be able to push my move-in date back further. Well, that day rolled around and I called to enact our plan only to find out that they leased the unit that I thought I had reserved (I had been assigned an account number at that point) to another tenant. The gentleman who I was speaking with (cannot recall his name, but he is also another manager at the Dinah Shore location) told me that when it's the last unit available of its type it's a first come, first serve basis. I was blown away. In my conversation with Ariana the day I booked I thought I was being very thorough with my questions to get the whole picture of what I was dealing with and I had 3-4 emails to confirm my order and no where on the notifications was this information disclosed. It wouldn't have been an ordeal at all if they had something comparable to lease to me. The response was "its busy in the desert and there is nothing we can do for you. Let me book this unit at the Bermuda Dunes location for you. The price is..." $23 dollars more monthly at this location versus the rate that I thought I had locked in at the PD location. I asked to be accommodated since I wasn't given any notification about their "last unit" policy. He said there wasn't anything they could do. I'm livid at this point yet still have to book the unit since I'm moving and have to put the bulk of my belongings somewhere. $23 doesn't seem like too much but at the end of the year that amounts to an additional $276, and that is if they don't raise the rate which they do every 6-9 months (I inquired about rate changes). I hang up and call the call center to make sure I have a reservation just in case and of course, there was no unit reserved for me. So through the call center the gal I was dealing with told me there wasn't anything they could do about price matching or granting a first month free due to how my situation had been handled this far. Less than pleased, I still pursued the lease because I needed it and time was running out. She assured me that I would receive an email and phone call from the Bermuda Dunes location the following day when the staff returned to the office. The following day I checked my email continually and waited for a phone call... nothing. The following day I called the Bermuda Dunes location and found out that not even the call center followed through with booking my reservation. This is where the story takes a turn for the better. I was lucky enough to speak with Kyle at the Bermuda Dunes location. He patiently listened to my story of what had unfolded with both the other location and call center. He let me know all details that might pertain to me and was extremely thorough, and above all kind and understanding. To make sure I didn't show up to a closed door he let me know his lunch schedule so I wouldn't have wasted time. I arrived today (I'm in the parking lot about to leave as I type) and his service in person even surpassed his wonderful customer service on the phone. He was very understanding with everything that I had dealt with via the other two Extra Space branches of the company. He went above and beyond and showed me a few units he had in the 10x10 climate controlled units. I picked my unit and we returned to the office to sign paper work. At this point I'm just blown away by his professionalism and accommodation skills. I got the online rate, which was $39 less than the in-store rate. I didn't push getting a better deal any more because at this point I was just thrilled to get the unit variety that I needed in general. To rectify the past experience I had with the company he gave me my first month comped. Kyle, thank you again. You turned my experience around completely. In the end I'm glad that I had to deal with the misfortunes via the Dina Shore location because it forced me to lease at a property where service truly matters!
