Earlier this month I had reserved a 10x10 climate controlled unit at the Dinah Shore location due to the great value. I'm a planner so I tend to try and book events out before hand. The date I scheduled for my lease to begin was a little early for my move but was the furthest date I could reserve. I booked the until any way. Ariana, the location manager called me immediately after booking online and thanked me and we had a conversation about needing to push the move-in date back further. I was advised that the date change wouldn't be a problem and all I needed to do was call on the day my lease was to begin and she would be able to push my move-in date back further. Well, that day rolled around and I called to enact our plan only to find out that they leased the unit that I thought I had reserved (I had been assigned an account number at that point) to another tenant. The gentleman who I was speaking with (cannot recall his name, but he is also another manager at the Dinah Shore location) told me that when it's the last unit available of its type it's a first come, first serve basis. I was blown away. In my conversation with Ariana the day I booked I thought I was being very thorough with my questions to get the whole picture of what I was dealing with and I had 3-4 emails to confirm my order and no where on the notifications was this information disclosed. It wouldn't have been an ordeal at all if they had something comparable to lease to me. The response was "its busy in the desert and there is nothing we can do for you. Let me book this unit at the Bermuda Dunes location for you. The price is..." $23 dollars more monthly at this location versus the rate that I thought I had locked in at the PD location. I asked to be accommodated since I wasn't given any notification about their "last unit" policy. He said there wasn't anything they could do. I'm livid at this point yet still have to book the unit since I'm moving and have to put the bulk of my belongings somewhere. $23 doesn't seem like too much but at the end of the year that amounts to an additional $276, and that is if they don't raise the rate which they do every 6-9 months (I inquired about rate changes). I hang up and call the call center to make sure I have a reservation just in case and of course, there was no unit reserved for me. So through the call center the gal I was dealing with told me there wasn't anything they could do about price matching or granting a first month free due to how my situation had been handled this far. Less than pleased, I still pursued the lease because I needed it and time was running out. She assured me that I would receive an email and phone call from the Bermuda Dunes location the following day when the staff returned to the office. The following day I checked my email continually and waited for a phone call... nothing. The following day I called the Bermuda Dunes location and found out that not even the call center followed through with booking my reservation. This is where the story takes a turn for the better. I was lucky enough to speak with Kyle at the Bermuda Dunes location. He patiently listened to my story of what had unfolded with both the other location and call center. He let me know all details that might pertain to me and was extremely thorough, and above all kind and understanding. To make sure I didn't show up to a closed door he let me know his lunch schedule so I wouldn't have wasted time. I arrived today (I'm in the parking lot about to leave as I type) and his service in person even surpassed his wonderful customer service on the phone. He was very understanding with everything that I had dealt with via the other two Extra Space branches of the company. He went above and beyond and showed me a few units he had in the 10x10 climate controlled units. I picked my unit and we returned to the office to sign paper work. At this point I'm just blown away by his professionalism and accommodation skills. I got the online rate, which was $39 less than the in-store rate. I didn't push getting a better deal any more because at this point I was just thrilled to get the unit variety that I needed in general. To rectify the past experience I had with the company he gave me my first month comped. Kyle, thank you again. You turned my experience around completely. In the end I'm glad that I had to deal with the misfortunes via the Dina Shore location because it forced me to lease at a property where service truly matters! read more

Sarah Zayas is a huge asset to their company, she welcomed us with a huge smile the minute we stepped into their facility and she went above and beyond to help us to make sure that all of our needs were met. Living in the desert, it is important to me to have climate controlled storage for items that I might normally have stored in my garage. The unit buildings are always pristine and freshly painted. There is improved security to the building doors, to provide even more security to interior units. I received excellent customer service when I went into the office to review my account. UPDATE: After speaking to the property manager and Emily's response, I've been reassured that increases are suspensed for now. Because of this, I will change to 4 stars. I won't give 5 stars because the increases are too frequent and not small. I've had a 10x10 climate controlled unit for a while now and since I've had it, the rate has steadily gone up. We are in the middle of a global crisis and people are losing their jobs because of it. I got my mail today and Extra Space Storage sent me a notification informing me that they're raising my rate to $239 plus the insurance that is forced on us, another $11.20. That is a $60 a mon increase to $250.20! They pick NOW to do the biggest increase they've done to me so far?!?! I guess it's time to get my stuff out and I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone! Even though I can't go below 1 star, it's ok cuz the staff has always been nice, but this is beyond f*ed up read more

We have rented storage spaces in the past at various locations. This time we decided to try Extra Space Storage in Bermuda Dunes. All they had in climate control was a 10' x 10' space so we took it. We later spoke to our mover and he said it wouldn't be big enough. I asked Sarah Zayas if she would please call us if anything came up in the next couple of days. To our surprise Sarah called and said I have a 10 x 15 do you want it. Of course we did and said we would take it. She said she was keeping an eye out for one to come up and as soon as it did she was sweet enough and took the time and we able to complete our move. Was here for about 5-6 years and initially set up everything through a guy named Kyle. He was very respectful and helped me out throughout the whole process. The reason for the 0/1 star review is due to the new management and the girl that works the front desk. I went to go check on my things and it was covered in dust and full of insect spiders scorpions and other vermin. I tried to show them to her but she said I'm on my break and they don't pay me to talk to you right now. Yes she said that!! I have never experienced such a rude person in my life. After that I went home and decided to in my relationship and move my stuff out. She also raised my rent more than double from what I was paying before. I think she's racist and definitely needs some customer service training. I will never do business with Extraspace storage ever again in my life and will not recommend them to anyone!! I am taking my business elsewhere. The owner of this Extraspace facility and corporate really needs to think about hiring the right people, she is definitely not one of them and is a liability to this company read more

We paid (very quick to take our money )and waited for the lease agreement for two days called and left messages and we are still waiting and waiting no response from the customer support and no lease agreement and they have our money, the lease apparently starts from the time of payment and now we are sitting without money and no lease and no service, absolutely poor service, do not recommend! read more

I don't use this site for Extra Space but helped a friend move her stuff and get settled in to this site. First off, it's hidden just off Country Club, which makes it good to be able to turn onto the street without any traffic! They do have a small parking lot like the others. Not sure if it's a new building or they just renovated everything, but this is one of the cleanest and newest branches I have seen. They have a keypad access point where it actually shows a welcome screen of your name upon entry which I thought was pretty cool. They have the huge storages outside and can easily drive up to them. Only thing I dislike, is how they numbered the units haha just made it difficult to find a friend's unit. The units inside the building look modern and slick. They have carts so you can easily move items from the outside to your inside units. What I don't like about some of these units is how you get cheated on space. Some of these units are smaller because of how they chose to have the units open their doors (rolling into a ball). Also how piping takes up ceiling room too! I wasn't able to stack some furniture and take advantage of the height space because the unit had several thick pipes running across the top, several feet below the ceiling! Overall, 3 stars because of how they managed to short you out of storage space and the annoying layout of numbering the units. read more

We're new renters and the whole experience has been excellent! The first receptionist on the phone answered all my questions and was so friendly. Then when it came time to come to the actual unit, we were confused on where our unit was. I called the front and spoke to Sarah who came down and helped me find our unit right before her lunch break! She's super sweet, showed me to the unit, answered all my questions, and I saw her say hello to another renter. To me is showed she knows who comes in and out and is friendly enough to keep a good relationship with those renting. Amazingly aggressive rent increases. I would advise getting rental rates confirmed for at least a one year period. If you will be a continuing renter for business use, look out! The increases are announced in the mail almost every three months. There is a cooling unit (swamp type) directly above one of 3 spaces I rent. It leaks and has destroyed much of my product. They have not taken responsibility for the damage, even though requested. They suggested I move to a different unit. Yes, that would be fine, but the cost of removing all the heavy product and storage racks would be very expensive both in labor and time. If they would just fix or replace the failed cooling unit, or pay my hard cost of moving, and pay for my accrued water damage, that would be fair and OK as well. There has been many employee changes over the years, so I can't keep up with who is who. But most of them have been pretty friendly. Unfortunately upper management of this publicly traded company trumps any local employees. The premises are kept clean and the structures (except the cooling units) are pretty functional and well designed. In the end, if you are only going to rent for say three months or so, then not a problem. However, for commercial or long time storage, best to check in to a privately held self storage facility that has a track record of holding their quoted rates steady. read more

We recently terminated our lease at another storage location that at the time was going to be a temporary solution for us. My wife and I shopped several of the local climate controlled storage facilities that were near to our home. Based both on price and professionalism, we selected the extra space storage facility on country club in Bermuda dunes. The on-site person named Diana was extremely helpful. If you had asked me 6 months ago I had a great experience, but I have rented 3 units for a family member in the last 30days and all 3 units are in the same hallway and the same size , all 3 are different prices . I ask to speak to a manager to see if something could be done and told we can't give out that information. Basically all you can do is contact the corporate office ..... So I guess I'm looking for a new facility that wants my money for the next 6 month to a year ... and post on yelp how unhappy I am . Update Deanna told me that she would see what she could about getting my 3 rd unit for the price of the 2nd one and she did . Great facility. I was very surprised to find out that it wasn't brand new. It's kept in remarkablely good shape. It feels safe and comfortable. Great motion sensitive lighting...magnetized door holds, big parking areas and elevators. This is definitely one of the best. Only complaint is that it's hard to get work done with when the heavy metal band they rented to is practicing down the hall. The music was so loud, I was getting migraine but I had to repack boxes for work. Not a good situation! read more
