1. Regular price increases. I have a small storage shed and it is $151! They also force you to have insurance by adding that to your bill. How much of that is actually a TIP for the corporation. 2. The walls are paper thin and rattle. Someone next to adjacent storage sheds could literally punch the thin drywall and enter your shed through the paper thin walls. 3. The place is extremely dusty. You MUST cover your stuff. A fine sand and silt on everything! 4. No dolleys, no water fountain, no bathroom, the absolute CHEAPEST storage shed you could ever have. 5. We drove 60 miles to get some things and the computerized code entry machine did not work so no one could get into their storage. AND...no one answered the office number or answered the door. What a joke. There were 6 cars, including our rented van, that could not get in to our own storage shed. So we wasted gas, rental van fees, and tons of time on these idiots. 6. This is all about taking your money with crazy charges and the bare, bare, bare bones faciities. Especially for Palm Desert. You would expect more. 7. DO NOT BUY the locks that they sell you. My key for that lock actually worked on another unit! I accidentally opened the wrong shed, but closed it quickly. The keys can open other sheds!!!! WTF! 8. In my opinion, based on this location, I think this company is a joke. 9. Another thing: they use that AI crap and good luck being put on hold forever just to get a person in another country who can barely speak clear English. read more

Five stars isn't enough for Enereo -- he's in a league of his own. I've been renting at this location for a while now, and I can honestly say that Enereo is the heart and soul of this place. From the moment he started, he brought a level of professionalism, kindness, and dedication that you just don't see anymore. He's the kind of person who makes you feel like your problem is his top priority -- and he means it. One afternoon, during a brutal 120-degree heat wave, the latch on our storage unit jammed and wouldn't close. Without hesitation, Enereo came out in the blazing sun and spent a good half hour fixing the issue himself. Not once did he complain. In fact, he was upbeat, cracking jokes, and making sure we felt taken care of the whole time. It was incredible to watch someone go above and beyond like that -- not because they had to, but because they wanted to. He's smart, genuinely caring, and always brings a positive energy that lifts your entire day. Honestly, they don't make people like this anymore. I was less than impressed to say the least. I went to check out and there was no one in the office. The sign said they were at the bank. Great! It was the last day of the month and I didn't want to be charged for another, so I called and told them I'm out of there, and to please return my call to confirm I won't be charged and to mail me a reimbursement. Of course no one returned my call! The place is a dump and easy to break into if you can get through the gate. My unit had a huge hole and they simply nailed on a board. If I had a hammer I could have ripped it right out!! I have used Life Storage for three of my moves and that is where I went back. I only tried this one because it was closer. read more

StorAmerica's 42nd Palm Desert location earns high praise by my family's experience. Previously we saved money using different storage companies that cluster on Varner Rd & Monterey just north of the 10 freeway, but every time at Varner Rd storage facilities when I opened the unit door ----- even when the unit was inside the deep hallway of a protective building ----- there was a sheet of desert dust caked over and into every item. Yuck. StorAmerica's 42nd street location surprised and delightfully beat my expectations whenever I slide up the unit door I can actually see our possessions ----- and they are not covered by a blanket of dirt. The reason is the wisdom of the old expression "location location location," because there are many country clubs and built up infrastructures adjacent for miles that have paved or put acres golf greens over the wild desert dirt fields. If you are newcomer to the desert, the season of spring and early summer bring weekly powerful wind storms that blow dirt at dust bowl scale, causing rivers of rural desert sand to pelt cars and knock treess down and sand in sudden rivers of dirt blow across highways, blinding vision on some roads, stirring debris and every kind of leaf and pollen to nature's sudden drumbeat. Thankfully, this StorAmerica ----- Not being at the vulnerable edge of town where there's miles of rural desert fields to fuel the dirt downpour ----- helps to keep to this place clean ----- inside and out ! Stephanie and Enereo are big helps too our family ------ for both are detail-oriented professionals with excellent management skills. They are friendly and answered all of our questions quickly. Restroom is clean as well, while nicely.. the available large truck motor runs well & is reliable because management keeps it well-maintained. All in all, thankfully it was throughout much cleaner than we expected {again, after storing at other companies on Varner Rd, sooo grateful for this discovery that this company StorAmerica's facility's location is largely free from exposure to desert sand blowing because it is insulated so well in...cleaner south Palm Desert. That's what makes it unique to the desert. The responsive Stephanie and Enereo sealed our experience with gratitude. They showed us great customer service. In the workplace there was not a grouchy attitude ----- they showed a zeal for deserved pride in this safe clean storage facility ----- fortified the old-fashioned way ---- by managers who live on-site. read more

Our storage unit was broken into. The Staff was a mix to deal with. Mostly good but sometimes difficult. Now I'm just waiting for the insurance company to handle the claim. I would store there again, I just wouldn't store valuables of ANY kind even ones that aren't valuable in price but valuable to you. read more

I recently needed storage and I went here first. I took the biggest one they had available and still needed more storage, so I was in a position that I ended up using three different storage places. The other two places were so much more customer service oriented. This was the least friendly. It wasn't a bad experience but I wish I had gone to the other places first. read more

Great location but horrible customer service and management. I know all storage places give you an "introductory" rate to get you to move in and the price eventually increases. When I moved in I was told my rate would increase in 6 months but would be "very close to the move in rate". Then they tried to increase the price of my storage unit by 66%! I got them down to a 22% increase but after three months of being billed incorrectly and numerous phone calls and emails to try and get it corrected I have moved out. I was able to get a larger unit for half the price about 4 miles away. Not worth the hassle to stay here even though the location is great. Thank you for the comment from the manager...but it's too late. I've already moved my stuff out and I'm not coming back. In the future prices quoted on the phone should be updated in the computer ASAP so customers don't have to through the mess I had to go through. I waited 2 months for them to fix it and my breaking point was when I received a phone call last week that I was "late" on my storage rent...which I was not...the billing was still wrong. I'm being generous with my 2 star review...only due to the facilities location. read more

Good location and no security issues. However they will raise your rent about every 3-6 months after your initial contract which you will have to negotiate. Also after move out they will bill you and threaten collection if you are after the first of the month. We had a car in storage which was being shipped out under short notice as a military transfer. When they moved the car the office was out to lunch so we couldn't close out the couple day prorate. I then got a threatening phone call and a bill that was different then the amount of the prorate which they said is just what you owe in our system? How about the math to support it? If you Expect rate raises and to be treated like a criminal skipping bail you won't have any surprises. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the customer service I got from Stephanie. She went above and beyond to accommodate me and my needs. She explained how everything worked and what was expected of me and what services they offered. They also offer customers free truck use, a free driver if you need it, just to mention a few. Which the other facilities do not. It was also reasonable, clean and easy to access to your storage room. Stephanie you have given me hope for people of your generation, as far as customer service gose. It's hard to find good customer service today from young people. This place is wonderful. I moved my stuff in here and everyone was really nice and made it as easy for me as possible. I had heard all kinds of horror stories about storage companies and was nervous. My things were safe and in place when I came to get them a month and a week later and they couldn't have been more accommodating (since I didn't know what day I was moving my things out, they said to just come in and pay my pro-rated amount on the day I left as I had given them notice of around when it would be). Plenty of cameras, lights, property is kept clean and the people at the office are polite. The company I work for has 2 units rented out at this facility. For months we have been receiving late fees because of not receiving our mailed invoices. When we asked to change it to email, they never did it. I have called them every day this week, which equals 3 times, requesting our name to be correctly spelled and our invoice to be emailed to us since the invoices are not reaching us by mail. Robert and Paulina say they made all the changes and it turns out, they never did. I had to, in a round about way, call her lazy and dumb to get any results. These people who "manage" the facility are lazy liars that are rarely ever in the office. Don't waste your time with these subhumans. read more
