Today, I had a very upsetting experience at this laundromat. I stepped away briefly to handle some business and unfortunately forgot about the sign asking customers not to leave their clothes unattended. When I returned, I asked who had removed my belongings. A woman nearby just shrugged.
As I approached the counter, I was met with immediate hostility from an elderly woman--possibly the owner or co-owner--who began yelling at me as if I were a child. I calmly apologized, saying, "I'm sorry, I didn't know I was holding anybody up. I had to handle some business."
What upset me most was that the items removed were my undergarments, now sitting in a metal basket. I always separate my clothes for that very reason.
Instead of showing professionalism or understanding, she barked, "Do you know how long you've been gone? Almost two hours! You've held up two or three washes! Other people are waiting on you!"
I still went ahead and bought coins to dry my clothes, but her tone and behavior were so belittling, I requested my money back. Her response? "And don't come back!"
I spent $19.75 there today just to be yelled at, ridiculed, and spoken to with complete disrespect. I reminded her that she needed to watch her tone, but the damage was done.
This was one of the most unprofessional and humiliating customer service experiences I've ever had. No customer deserves to be treated this way--especially when the situation could have been handled with basic decency. read more
