They have gluten free imitation crab, teriyaki sauce, and tempura available...which is not always a thing! And the severs know what's up and will help you make the right choice. It had a LOT of spicy mayo, but everything tasted great. I also had the cucumber salad, miso soup, and a cucumber roll. My husband had a bento box. We left totally satisfied and I know I will be back soon.

The downtown places can be hit-or-miss so we thought we'd try something new. We stumbled upon Hokkaido on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Greeted immediately, friendly staff, nice ambiance, no complaints there. 4-stars simply comes from the lack of a bar. Good sushi deserves a good martini. That part was super disappointing for me. The Tempura Veggies, Tempura Shrimp, and Sushi was all lovely. Freshly cooked / prepared and served promptly. Price was on-point and the overall experience was great. We'd be regulars if they had a full bar. If you live nearby and can tolerate dinner without a martini, give Hokkaido a try - it's worth it!

Out came the Yelp App and she checked for something new. Then she muttered, "Joy Sushi?". It read great, and she told me where to drive to and I asked, "That mini mall where the Megabyte is?" (a place we took our son when he was younger) So I pointed the Yelpmobile toward a nondescript mini mall. Joy Sushi is close to the little gas station and next to a Pho place (not sure if they are related). When you walk in, the place has a clean feel to it. Workers moving about from table to table and at some tables sushi was being serving on wooden boats. Cool! After being seated we were given menus which were complete with all kinds of appetizers and different kinds of sushi. And it wasn't just the usual rolls and nigri, although some classics were there, newer reimagined rolls were available. Quite a few had jalapeno, which isn't really my Wife and my bag, but you can ask for it to be omitted. Our order was served on a cool little boat! The rolls were noticeably larger in diameter than what we were used to. They tasted very fresh; the flavors burst across our taste buds. We were very happy with our new discovery. We will definitely be returning.
