Edamame, green tea and pick 2 lunch special--california roll and spicy tuna roll

Super yummy!!! Went for lunch and left happy. Employees were very kind and service was quick!

Double Crunch Roll and Mt. Fuji Roll

TL;DR: excellent protein to rice ratios. HH doesn't save you that much. Parking: shared lot next to Holiday Inn Express. Atmosphere: cafe-like setting with limited seating, not a very large dining area. Menu: has images and straightforward descriptions. You will be handed several menus: sushi, drink, specials, main, and Happy Hour menus (during HH only). The sushi menu is laminated and has tick mark boxes. Mark what you like on the large laminated sushi menu and write down any additional things you'd like that aren't listed on the bottom section. Service: wait to be seated, you will be watered, order at the table, check brought to you, you will pay while seated at the table via a portable register the server brings. Happy Hour prices are not too different than regular prices and you are required to purchase a beverage. Don't expect huge percentages off the meals--just a few dollars off. Limited selection of items on the HH menu. Miso Soup: typical miso soup with seaweed bits and tiny tofu cubes. Not overly salty. The sushi rolls here have a very even ratio of rice and protein. They are not like some places that go heavy on the rice. The sushi tastes really fresh and is cool in temperature as opposed to some places that serve you room temp sushi. Bubble Bubble Roll: my all time favorite sushi roll that I wish was offered everywhere! It has such a nice combination of flavors. That lemon slice is edible -- eat the whole thing! The lemon adds a nice tang to the salmon and the salmon roe add a nice burst of saltiness. Philadelphia Roll: typical Philly roll but there is a slightly more generous proportion of salmon in the roll compared to some other sushi joints. Veggie Tempura Roll: The veggies are nicely breaded with tempera and wrapped in the sushi roll. There is a light crunch to eat bite which I appreciate. However, the sauce that is drizzled on top is a bit sweet in my opinion and I would have appreciated a little less of it.

My sis and I chose to eat here in the spur of the moment since it was next to the nail salon we went to. It's a cute sushi spot and the waiters were very attentive. We ordered the salmon brothers, beauty and the beast, calamari and Japanese chirashi. The salmon brothers roll was delicious! The sashimi cuts in the chirashi bowl was not the greatest. Three star only for the Japanese chirashi. The cut of ahi and salmon wasn't that great- it had the stringy parts and didn't taste fresh. The price for the chirashi wasn't worth it. Maybe next time we'll try other things on the menu. Side note, a table next to us with three people left only a $3 tip on the table. Makes me think they didn't enjoy their food?

Small, clean restaurant but there was no wait when we got there around 11:30 AM. It has a medium-sized parking lot shared with other small businesses. Their menu is clearly written out and the food came out in 15 minutes. I got the lunch box (assorted tempura and beef yakiniku), which was surprisingly filling. The tempura was really good.... around 6 pieces of piping hot veggie tempura. The beef was a bit salty, but paired with rice, it was tasty. The ginger dressing on the salad has a strong ginger taste, which I liked. The miso soup just tastes like miso soup (nothing extraordinary). I would definitely want to try the salmon entree next time! By the time we left, the restaurant was getting more and more packed. From visiting this place one time - 4.5/5. Would love to come again.

    Coco Shrimp & Eel Roll.

The bestest sushi place ever, hands down. I always get the Coco Shrimp roll and asked the chef to extra seared the salmon. Never disappointed.

It's my go-to neighborhood Japanese sushi and bento place. I believe the owners are not Japanese, but they are Asian. I love their lunch specials - their teriyaki chicken is my son's favorite! Their sashimi special has fresh fish as well. My favorite roll is tuna with avocado and they can make that here for me

$95? New York, coco, caterpillar, alaska, maguro and yellow tail nigiri.

It WAS the best sushi in east Vancouver. It WAS my go to... nothing bad here food and service wise. Actually super great service and the sushi is on point for this area. Not to happy though, prices have hiked pretty high, our usual family order used to cost $70 and is now $95+tip. Hard to over look that. I mean that's a steak dinner for two at Ruth Chris for all I'm concerned, not a casual spot to get dinner. No ginger was in our togo box.. yellow tail tasted fishy and not clean meat steak like usual. I mean these things add up. Coco roll wasn't even cut into pieces! Lol for that much money? I will start making the drive to Portland..

    Location-specific special items

I used to frequent the Happy Valley Mio Sushi location very frequently when I used to live in Oregon, and the Vancouver location is every bit as good, if not better than, the Happy Valley location. Service is outstanding, and the quality of the food is superb. My honorary daughter and I stopped in for a late lunch / early dinner, and were very happy to be able to dine in. Each location has its own special items that are not available at other locations, and the "salmon brothers" roll here alone is worth the trip, It is the perfect balance of smoky, creamy, and overall deliciousness. The 5-piece, $10 nigiri happy hour special is an amazing bargain, and each piece was expertly prepared, perfectly portioned, and absolutely delicious. The mango iced tea is the perfect accompaniment to your meal, not too sweet, and the chunks of mango are such a nice touch. I really can't wait for my next trip.

Edamame, miso soup and genmaicha tea.

A favorite of ours whenever we are staying in Camas. Mio is such a great place to eat. The staff is friendly and helpful. The dining room is clean and tidy and the sushi is to die for!!!! ( ‿) We always start off with miso soup, edamame, and genmaicha tea. Then from there it is a mix of rolls and sashimi. The roll portions are always so large that two rolls for two people is sometimes too much food. The sushi chef does a phenomenal job preparing and presentation of the rolls. The sashimi melts in your mouth delicious! Genmaicha tea is roasted brown rice and green tea. My favorite! (。‿。) I can only say good things about this place and am excited to go each time. ( ³)

Oregon Roll - Soo good! Sake salmon, avocado, real crab, rice, and a sprig of asparagus.
    Pham A.

I think I've been to every Mio around Portland and the metro area including Camas, WA. What I like about Mio is they are fairly consistent and reliable. I can always count on their Oregon Roll to satisfy my sushi craving. It's the perfect roll in my books... Sake (salmon), avocado on the outside, followed by rice and stuffed with real crab salad and a sprig of fresh asparagus down the middle. The asparagus adds for a nice crispy snappy crunch and real crab just tastes so much better than Krab with a K. I've tried a lot of their other rolls and Nigiri as well, mostly all good. Where Mio and most Portland sushi places fail is with their Hamachi (Yellowtail). Hamachi is one of those kinds of fish that if it's a little off... it ends up tasting like old fish and often a bit sour. Sashimi cuts should always be the best and melt in your mouth like soft butter with no fishy after taste. But it doesn't matter, Sashimi, Nigiri and any other use of Hamachi beyond being cooked has not been good. I've tried too many times and been disappointed every time. Luckily I do know of a couple sushi places that do Hamachi right. Otherwise, seaweed and cucumber salad are good and fairly large portions you can share. Tempura has always been excellent, super light, crispy and flaky batter over veggies or shrimp. Miso, warm house sake, tea, appetizers... all just as good as most places. No gimmicky monster over-sized rolls but only 4 pieces, definitely more traditional bite sized and cut into 8 portions. Establishments have all been clean and disable friendly except for the location in NW where you have to go up a flight of stairs! Parking at NW 23rd and NW Hoyt are street only, North Killingsworth and SE Hawthorne have tiny lots that get full, so it's mostly street, Sellwood is ample, Aloha is shared with a mall but usually easy plenty, Beaverton has a lot but it's not attached directly. Camas shares a lot, but wasn't difficult when we went on a Saturday evening. Staff has always been friendly, never had bad service, easy take-out, and decent middle of the road market pricing. Mio is worth it just for the Oregon roll.

A generous pour too. Apologies to the purists, but I ordered the California Roll as it consisted of real crab. Roll slices were small. Taste was par for the course. The shrimp croquettes were my favorite item of the night. And I concur with another Yelper that the Chicken Katsu was excellent, and also good portion to price. The Miso cod on special was tasty, but, small. We also ordered eel nigiri, one of the special hand rolls, and yummy sliced duck. Our experience ended with a somewhat unmemorable flan. Service by the lone server was very friendly and efficient, she's a pro. Usually it's points off for a Downtown spot and no parking, but all the inconveniences actually add to the vibe of this must-do Japanese restaurant.

I got the dumplings for her but if I had to skip something I'd do those. They were good but compared to all the other items we had, they were lacking. The only thing not pictured is our wagu braised with sweet potato. That was phenomenal. It pulled apart and melted in your mouth with every bite. We ended with two very different deserts, the strawberry mochi and whipped crem brûlée type desert. Both were tasty. Price range for all plus three alcoholic drinks was $165 not including tip. Super speedy and genuinely kind. A+ hospitality. Let's talk food (aka the stars of the show): Caterpillar Roll - Fresh, light, and beautifully presented. The kind of roll that makes you feel like you're eating healthy... even if you follow it with fried gyoza. Spider Roll - Crispy? Yes. Flavorful? Yes. But the flavors blended into each other a bit too much--more "symphony" than "solo act." Still enjoyable, just not a standout. Clam Miso Soup - A delightful surprise! Big, juicy clams swimming in a savory miso bath. A must-try if you're into seafood. Regular Miso Soup - Classic, comforting, no complaints. Fried Gyoza - Golden, crispy, and flavorful. Honestly, I could eat a whole plate solo and call it a day. Shrimp Tempura - Massive, crunchy, and satisfying. You'll want to share... but you won't want to. Seahawk Roll (aka Volcano Roll?) - Came in HOT (temperature-wise and vibe-wise). Bold flavors and satisfying heat. Crunch Munch Roll - Smoked salmon + shrimp = interesting combo. Tasty, but the smoked salmon kind of hogged the spotlight. Final thoughts: Everything looked great, tasted fresh, and came out quickly. A few rolls were more memorable than others, but overall it was a win. We'd definitely return for another round--especially that clam miso soup and shrimp tempura!
