Yall lied to me on these reviews! This was NOT good. We even tried the sake and it was so bitter that it tasted like hand sanitizer.. We ordered the Vancouver, jack in the box, and the creamy scallop sushi. It was so BAD. The only okay one was the jack in the box. The "creamy scallop" was not creamy and was drenched in taptio hot sauce and the scallops were so over cooked that it was like dehydrated chicken. The Vancouver and Jack in the box were lacking actual sushi on top or in it. The rolls presentations were good but still, won't go back to try again. The place was cute inside and waiter was so nice! But had to leave an honest review. They wouldn't refund the "creamy scallop" one but had us pick another one so we picked "monkey crunch munch" and it was supposed to be smoked salmon, but it was smoked salmon from a package. Not an actual seared smoked salmon flavor. We spent $100 with tip and it was not worth it. Vancouver just seems to be missing the mark with food. read more

The pictures on Yelp are accurate. Lots of unnecessary flourishes that detract from the taste. The yellow sauce drizzle is a citrus aioli but instead of elevating the dish, it managed to make every bite just taste bland. The sauce was dyed yellow and had so little notes of citrus that we asked the waitress if it was correct. We ordered the "fresh wasabi". I've provided a picture below of what we got (chopped frozen wasabi from a tube) and what fresh ground wasabi is. Probably should have realized that it wasn't going to be fresh at that price point but still felt a little disingenuous. Note the color of the spicy tuna. The only thing I can guess is red food coloring to "make it pop". The service was great. The hostess and waitress were attentive and friendly. I enjoyed the softballs like tempura and the spicy edamame. But for the cost, I'd unfortunately recommend trying a different place. read more

Love that they have real crab as an option in the sushi rolls. However, the $20 vegetable udon is broth, some noodles and about 3-4 tiny vegetable pieces- ridiculously overpriced. If no meat, at least add some more vegetables to make it worth the price. read more

Service has been good every time we've been, how ever we usually go during lunch when it is more quiet. Went here for lunch, I've only don't take out but I finally had the chance to dine in. We had one of the eel rolls and the katsu. The katsu was incredibly crispy and delicious, it was served with a ton katsu sauce, which is on the sweet side I would prefer a bit more spice. It said it came with steamed vegetables which consisted of 2 pieces of broccoli and 2 small pieces of carrot, miso soup and salad (which we did not receive) I feel it could have had some more for the price. The roll was delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. Their rolls are pricey, but high quality. The space is nice and big and service was great. I've had an assortment, and they don't have the standard American rolls I'm used to, but they are willing to accommodate and make custom rolls when dining in. Fantastic service. My favorite dish so far is the jalapeño popper appetizer. They add different sauces to fresh, crisp jalapeño, and the filling rounds out the bite. Really well balanced, though still spicy as I like it. The chicken katsu is fantastic dining in as well. Only downside is standard with any sushi restaurant, it's pricy. Came here for lunch this past weekend. They were having a lunch happy hour which was 20% off rolls. Their prices are pretty steep so it ended up being the cost of normal sushi. Ordered the 1012 and the salmon tataki rolls along with an order of toro nigiri. Both the rolls were OK, one of them had a mustard like sauce that wasn't described on the menu, it was all over the roll and I think it took away from the flavors. For the price I thought there would be a decent amount of fish on each roll but the piece barley covered the top, didn't fold over the sides and was very thin. The toro was good, $18 for 2 pieces of nigiri which was a lot but I get that it's a sought after fish.. the presentation was great but unfortunately the fish we were served was borderline frozen. I felt the ice crunching in my mouth, the flavor was good once it warmed up but it was a letdown that it was icy. read more

The woman at the hostess stand asked me to wait. And then she ignored me for 5 minutes. Her head was bent down, looking over the menu, striking out orders with a grease pen. Weird. Another worker approached me to see what I needed. I told him. He brought the packages to me immediately. When I asked him about the weird wait and silent non-service, he told me she was busy but communicated to him with her eyes to help me. I won't be back. This is hands down the best sushi spot in the Portland metro area. Let's be honest: most sushi places don't get it right, often serving rolls smeared in sauces tailored to the Western palate. Not this place, tho. Their nigiri is top-notch, with just the right thickness of fish and the perfect amount of vinegar in the rice. The menu is not extremely long which really helps narrow down your choices . They give you a reusable menu to mark what you like . We got Jack in the Box- Amazing, really delectable and fresh .The presentation and the citrus aioli both hit it out of the park. Tobiko+quail egg - Another stellar menu item , we loved this one . Spicy Tuna Roll - This one was just average , the rice was a little too hard on this one for my taste. I don't know if this was pre-made. The sake that they recommended with our meal , complimented everything . What I was not a fan of was the service - After handing over the menu , no one came to take our order until we went and called them . Then they told us that we had to order everything now before the kitchen closed , and while we looked at the menu , again no one came to take our order . Ultimately they just came and gave us the check , which was surprising because I assumed if you hand over the menu , you at least let people order after that !! We ordered couple rolls and let me tell you either we were super hungry or we had a beer but this place was NOT the best sushi place. Their ambiance is quite pleasant. I have eaten at sushi mo 2x before and it was decent. Today the food was horrible. We ordered Philly roll, Mo combo A and spicy chicken. The salmon in all of the rolls looked like it was chopped up and not fresh, salmon looked really pale. I always devour sushi, but not this time. The waitress asked if the food was good, we told her no, that it's honestly disappointing, she asked if we wanted to box up the rest and we kindly declined. Won't be eating it anyways. I also ordered garlic edamame, pan fried potstickers, and chicken yakisoba ($92 with tip). The garlic edamame honestly tasted old and over cooked- they used to have delicious edamame options. My tuna tataki had zero tuna in it and only a thin slice of gray tuna on top- I had one piece and couldn't eat the rest. My evergreen roll was mainly rice - it used to be better years ago too! I hate to be rude but for this price, I should not be throwing my meal away (my partner did like his chicken yakisoba). How lucky is Vancouver, WA to have this amazing sushi restaurant in their city! Seriously I was so impressed. Never having been to Vancouver and wanting sushi I decided to meet up with two out of town friends here. Initially from the outside I wasn't sure what to make of it with the large paper 20% of sushi banners on the windows and the inside decor didn't immediately wow me. My hesitations melted instantly when we were promptly greeted and seated. Ever have a server who made you feel like you weren't just dining at a restaurant, but you were dining at *their* restaurant? That's how our server made me feel. She was so warm, so gracious that I felt like I was being served in her dining room. She would do things like make sure my tea was appropriately placed so I didn't have to reach for it, ask us if the food made us happy - not that it was good, but if it made us happy - and beamed when my friend asked if they marinated their own mackerel which she confirmed and was pleased that he liked it so. Apparently this isn't commonly done and my friend was very impressed. Speaking of food the food was excellent! One, the plating was absurdly beautiful. Having been a frequent sushi diner I don't usually see this detailed plating except at places like Nobu. I could have just looked at it. The changing colored light on the nigiri plate was spell binding. It felt tranquil. Then I ate the sushi and it was amazing! Tender, buttery, flavorful - oh my! I recalled when my friend had attempted to order the uni nigiri and the one gentleman told him no, it wasn't good quality today they take it that seriously. They take their craft so seriously that they marinate their own mackerel. I was very, very pleased. Ordered Philly roll ($12) volcano roll ($17.5) 2 dragon rolls ($19.5) crunch munch roll ($17.5) and Beef Yakiniku -includes white rice, salad, and miso soup ($14). Was told the food would be ready in 10-15 minutes. Arrived 20 minutes later and then there was an additional 5-10 minute wait. Made it to clear to employee I was eating on the go. Asked for utensils, napkins, soy sauce, and wasabi. Was told everything was in the bag. Asked for spicy mayo to go and was charged an additional $2 per spicy mayo container (very small). Then when I arrived to my destination to eat realized there was nothing to eat my miso soup with except chop sticks. And there was ONE napkin in the bag that looked used. This place is a gem!! We stopped in Vancouver on Sunday afternoon after a weekend in Portland and were craving sushi. Sushi Mo was close by so we decided to pop in. All three of us got the baked scallop roll (deep fried w/ spicy crab, asparagus, cucumber, topped with baked spicy creamy scallop, assorted fish, scallion, tobiko, sesame seeds, spicy aioli & sweet sauce) but requested for the roll not to be deep fried. The server told us it's been requested before and that the chefs could make it happen. I also got an order of creamy scallop nigiri. The plating was BEAUTIFUL! Not only were the rolls plated in a flower shape, but they were garnished nicely and came on really pretty plates. My nigiri was plated separately and also garnished.
