I've been devouring sushi for 30 years all over the world, and I feel incredibly lucky to have this gem right in my neighborhood! Everything is consistently fresh and delicious, so you can't go wrong. Owner Pauly is always friendly and helpful, especially when my indecisive-self needs help choosing, and Chef Carlos makes some of the best sushi around. There are plenty of options near me, but I find myself coming back here regularly because it's that good. Whether I dine in or grab rolls to go, it's always a great experience. It's casual, welcoming, and I enjoy the classic rock playing in the background. Note the hours (closed from 3-4:30 daily and all day Sundays). read more

Outstanding Quality and Service!I had an incredible dining experience here. The fish was exceptionally fresh, buttery, and melted in my mouth. You can really taste the quality, and the sushi rice was seasoned to perfection. The chefs are clearly masters of their craft--the nigiri was perfectly formed, and the specialty rolls were both beautiful and incredibly flavorful. read more

Love this place. Every time I go, the host is super friendly and talkative. Food is always super fresh and yummy, and the restaurant itself is always clean and fresh. I actually crave this place more than I'd like to admit but I love treating myself to dang good sushi! This is like a once a month treat for myself. read more

The sushi might be good but the owner really needs psychological help! He referred to a female customer as a B*tch. He proceeded to follow her out of the restaurant yelling profanities at her as she walked to her car. His threatening posture caused such a scene that a passerby stepped in to assist her. The owner really needs help - his behavior is unstable and dangerous. Praying he gets the help he so desperately needs. read more

Overall, it's... Good not great... the food was good, it just wasn't displayed well for sushi and Japanese. Some of our plates were chipped, and they used a plastic ramekin for the dipping sauce on a ceramic plate... Service was average, food was average, and it's kind of weird to me to have Led Zeppelin playing in the background of a Japanese restaurant... That's just me. read more

Great place for quick and delicious sushi. Good sushi. Super friendly and welcoming owner, who listened to what I wanted and made great recommendations. We'll be back soon.

After living in Camas proper for the last year or so I finally had the opportunity to order ahead some take out from the sushi joint. I must say I'm quite picky when it comes to sushi and I was happy that Sushi Joint did not disappoint and it saved me a substantial drive into the city where most of my go to spots. We ordered a good amount of food. The nigiri tasted fresh, the rolls were delicious, and the edamame was a nice addition too. None of it tasted fishy or caused us to doubt the freshness of the dishes being served. The pick up process during COVID was pretty seamless. I called ahead and was told 30 min. No problem. I drove down the hill, parked on the street, walked up to the side of the building (follow the instructions on the sign) and I was greeted by a nice gal who took payment and provided the food to me. I think if you're in Camas, and do not want to drive an hour round trip to pick up sushi this place needs to be on your go to list. I hope you enjoy the food as much as I did! read more

Three star for service only, sushi what they had was warm and not fresh at all. 6 people in our group place was completely empty. Drive past all the time and it looks closed majority of the time. Service was standard. Would love to see the game stepped up with quality of fish will gladly pay the price for quality of food if it was worth it. I know with Covid that cost of almost everything has increased and it isn't easy to stay staffed so paying for quality is definitely ok. Until then will continue driving into Vancouver for Mio Sushi or even Portland (even though I am not a fan of going into Portland) for better quality. Again service was standard good not great but food was a negative across the board. read more

This place is amazing. I've eaten a lot of sushi in my life (having lived in Japan for a few years) and Sushi Joint rates pretty high up there in my experience. The chili ponzu roll was fantastic as was the Washougal roll. The seaweed and cucumber salads were also balanced, fresh and so tasty. The only knock is perhaps it's popularity. It took us four tries to order takeout as they are often slammed. But can't knock a business for its success. This place is a gem. read more

Best sushi in town! Staff always seems happy to serve customers. Would order again any day!

Stopped in when traveling through area. Top notch sushi and the owner made us feel like family. Seems like the COVID situation and local policy has made it tough for businesses like this, but the guy is still putting his whole self into what he delivers to his customers. I'll be back! read more

Loved getting to eat at the sushi joint! We got the Smokey dynamite and Philly roll, both were super yummy!! The service & ambiance were great!! Loved getting to chat with the workers, they gave a ton of local recommendations of things to do also. Highly recommend!! read more

Too expensive for what it is, which is non-traditional sushi that isn't anything special. Owner talks too much even when you're eating, so don't go alone and think you'll have a quiet lunch. He makes suggestions even after you've told him what you want, which is fine I guess once, but not three times. Seating isn't conducive to sushi eating. read more

We have nothing but good things to say about The Sushi Joint. We are new to the area and have only been able to order food from here twice, but both times the quality of the food has exceeded our expectations. The sushi is very, very fresh and full of taste. Enough taste that they don't need to add a lot of extra sauces to enhance the flavor of the rolls, as many places we have eaten at have done. We usually have found that once we have gone through a good portion of a sushi restaurant's menu, we have definite favorites. This has not been the case here, as everything we have had tastes great. Even though we have only been able to get take out, the service has been excellent. This last time was my wife's birthday. She had been thinking about this sushi all week. Because of a situation at home, we generally have to eat nice dinners after 7:30. By the time we called, they were not taking any more orders (another indication of how good and popular they are). But once they heard it was her birthday, they took the order anyway. How cool is that?! Once I arrived to pick it up, the gentleman bringing the food out was super courteous, as he had been the first time. He even wished my wife a Happy Birthday. We can't wait until they are open for inside dining again, but will continue to use the take out service until then. We highly recommend The Sushi Joint! read more

First of all, this place is NEVER open. Second of all, if you do happen to catch them on a day they're open, they run out of fish by 4pm. Here's an idea, order more fish! It used to be one of our favorite places to go out to eat in Camas, which lastly, and most annoyingly of all, they're not open for indoor seating anymore. Just skip this place and walk across the street to Tommyo's for some delicious sushi, and great customer service, with an owner who actually wants to be open serve the public! read more

We were so happy to finally get to have sushi again after not being able to go into a restaurant like this in months. We were happy to see the staff using gloves and wearing masks they were very courteous nothing of course was on the conveyor belts. So everything we ordered was made on rolls so that actually was nice because then there's something you really love you didn't have to look for it you just asked for it so that was kind of cool. We also have the Miso soup which was really good. We had great service there were plenty of people coming in and out and lots of room very glad to be able to eat here again we love this place read more

We've been going here ever since we moved to the Camas/Washougal area a year ago. The sushi is top notch and I would venture to say among the best on the area. Definitely the best we've had. The fish is good quality and the sushi is of good size for eating. I see the complaints about the staff but have never had issues. Call and order ahead, you won't have problems. The staff is always extremely helpful and friendly when we call or pickup an order. read more

How have I missed this location for a year and a half?! Fantastic, simple and tasty sushi in downtown Camas. I've died and gone to heaven. The stuffed avocado appetizer is very good. Great for 3-4 people. If it's just the 2 of you, definitely downsize by at least one sushi roll or you will be stuffed. I haven't tried every roll but all the ones we've had were yummy; I don't think you can make a bad choice with the rolls. They even created a roll based on something we liked from elsewhere and did a great job. Miso soup and hot sake were also tasty. The server (owner?) is also friendly to boot. He will definitely be seeing more of me here. read more

They are so rude!! We were standing outside in the rain and wanted to order takeout. The staff inside just ignored us. We called several times, finally they answered the phone after I knocked on the window. They said they ran out of food and closed early! Really, they can't answer the phone when I am looking at them, I will never go there again! read more

We waited 45 minutes for sushi and were the first and only people in for dinner. There was only one chef we could see and one host. Not a great place for kids. No lids for waters, kids menus or even a coloring sheet. We got our kids some miso soup and tempura shrimp which was soggy and flavorless (obviously from a box.) We had already ordered a roll with tempura shrimp in it and were disappointed to see it's what we'd be getting as well. Rolls were ok. Nothing to write home about. No major complaints. They were out of a few beverages we wanted as well. Clean looking place. Food tasted fresh minus the shrimp tempura. Our one and only visit. Sorry read more

Everything is always fresh, presented beautifully, and the service is always friendly and quick. Well, as quick as sushi can be when everything is made fresh to order. The stuffed avocado is something I have never found anywhere else. It's a perfectly ripe avocado stuffed with crab and guests come to town asking to go there just for that.
