My husband and I decided to bring my mom here after we got off work around 5 pm. The restaurant wasn't busy so we were seated right away. The decor is simple, but cute. For starters we ordered the tempura sampler and cucumber salad. The tempura sampler was extra crispy which we all enjoyed. For the main dishes we had a sashimi sampler, spicy tuna roll, st. Helen's roll, avacado roll, and Hawaiian roll. I'll be honest the sashimi sampler wasn't the most fresh I think the only fish in the sample that everyone liked was the salmon...which I kinda expected given that fresh salmon is pretty accessible in the PNW. The Hawaiian roll was topped with a chewy tuna. So that was disappointing... The reason why I'm giving this place four stars is the avocado roll and the st Helen's roll were great. The service was also good. When we come back here it'll be for the veggies rolls, appetizers, and other cooked rolls. read more

I was craving sushi, well more like raw fish, so we decided to check this place out. It was towards the end of the night, so nit many people were in there. Lot of options including bento boxes & starters. We got the gyoza & shumai to start, which came out pretty quick. Ordered a bunch of sushi & someone that was with us also got a bento. The sushi was ok, but it did satisfy the craving. I'd have to say the highlight was the yakiniku beef in the bento. It was so tasty. Service was good, but overall it was just alright. This was my first visit to the Vancouver location. Overall, it is a great place, but it doesn't seem to be quite up to the standard of the other locations I've visited. This was probably the first "We have the entire restaurant to ourselves" experience I've ever had, in that I and my dining companion were literally the only customers in the entire venue. The service was particularly great at first. Our water was extremely professional, friendly, and attentive. He topped off out mango iced teas as soon as they got close to getting empty, which was highly appreciated. We were attended by a different waiter from the midpoint of our dinner through the end. He wasn't as attentive, and we had to approach him to ask for our check after our plates and glasses were empty for approximately 15 minutes. The food was very good overall, but not as good as some of the higher-end sushi restaurants south of the river. I had minor issue with one end cut of the spider roll having a very "off" and unpleasant taste, indicating an improperly cleaned crab. I've never experienced this at any other sushi restaurant. The tableware was impressively nice, though, with our entire order being beautifully presented on a single large and heavy platter. read more

This had been a favorite of ours, but it seems that their attitude has changed. The sushi quality is still pretty good, but we are no longer going to this restaurant. Two experiences stand out. We ordered a take-out meal and the salad that was supposed to be included was missing. When we told the server on our next visit that this had happened, it was barely acknowledged and no accommodation was offered. In another instance, the server, who didn't speak fluent English, got my order wrong. When she brought it to the table I politely asked it to be changed to what I had ordered. When we were walking out, the the sushi chef gave us an angry stare and didn't acknowledge us as we left. In the past they had always said thank you. This was odd and disconcerting. We will be trying other local sushi places. They've lost our business. read more

The food was mediocre and seemed expensive for the amount of rolls I ordered. The water tasted like it had bleach or a cleaner in it, we couldn't even drink it. The staff are very nice and are attentive to orders and the fish always tastes fresh. However, that's where the good stops. Mio used to be our favorite place for sushi. However, the prices have gone up and the quality of the rolls have gone down. Every time we've ordered hand rolls or anything with shrimp, there are very few shrimp compared to other sushi places. Also tails left on in hand roll, and lots of tails in the rolls themselves. We ordered a shrimp tempura appetizer for our kid, it came with three shrimp in a very thick batter ($8.95). Appetizers are not worth the price and neither are the hand rolls. Hand roll was the same price as a regular roll but a fraction of the size- very little rice even. Avoid ordering these. I hope the quality improves considering how expensive sushi has become here. There's not many other options for fresh sushi in the area unfortunately. read more

I took sushi to go, it was a bit last minute. Always go with the recommended rolls. The expensive rolls taste better. It was good. Personally I think it is priced higher than it's local competition and it isn't better. It didn't blow me away. I haven't tried everything and I imagine it could be better if we sat down and but for the price I most likely won't be back. read more

It's a good sushi spot but I wouldn't say it's the best quality wise. there are many options which is really nice, they got one part of our order wrong but we were given a discount and still enjoyed what they brought out. (we decided to just eat what they brought wrong since it sounded good rather than wait for what we ordered to be remade) I would go again, but I don't think it's a sushi place I would brag about. read more

My wife and I have been eating at Mio Sushi for years. I have spent $1000s of dollars over the years and will no longer be eating there. Every year now for the past few years, they refuse to open the patio for service. It's a beautiful day with 2 tables in the restaurant and the doors wide open to the patio but they refuse to serve outside. During Covid I could understand but during the summer months I find it pathetic that they refuse to serve on the outdoor patio that they have tables at. It is a level of laziness that I can no longer support. The owners should be ashamed. I will drive to Portland for sushi from here on out. read more

I have heard some complaining about Mio but my husband and I go there quite regularly and I think it's quite nice. Fish is fresh, service is very good and the place seems clean. The fellow that gave one star cuz he couldn't eat on the patio is a baby. It is NOT why you give one star. They may not have had enough employees. Anyway, we enjoy going there and will go back often. The service today was disgusting. It took them almost 50 minutes, my wife was timing them, to take our order. In the meantime, two couples came and went behind me. Once our order was finally taken, the table in front of me started to get their order, that was placed way after ours, namely the miso soup, while we still waited for ours. My wife and I ate here on our way to a concert at the amphitheater. I'm not sure what to say about it. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't anything we're interested in ever eating again. It's a nice place and the sushi chef's all looked up and smiled, said hello on our way to our table and then it started to slide down hill from there. Our waitress was a nice young lady but when my wife asked what she would recommend, she seemed to get stumped and didn't really answer her. That apparently made her uncomfortable and it took a very long time before we saw her again to put in our order. The sushi came out very quick and looked really nice but the flavors weren't good together. We had a Hawaiian roll, Mt. Hood, Oregon roll, Joy Joy and fried roll I forget the name of. The fried roll was decent and my wife's favorite of the bunch, but that's not saying much. Poor service, subpar food. We waited over 20 minutes watching them seat others that came in after us. I finally insisted they seat us at the bar. The waiter treated us like he had better things to do than take our order and bring us food. The sushi was also subpar with the fish tasting old. I was recently visiting some friends in nearby Hazel Dell and we decided to have sushi for dinner. Their suggestion: Mio Sushi in Salmon Creek. I was a bit dubious based on some of the Yelp reviews, but was relieved to have a very decent experience here. We had friendly and fast service (even though they forgot our order of edamame until we reminded them). It was a special treat to have ordered so many rolls that we got a boat (per my request to the sushi chefs). Quite yummy, especially that Double Crunch roll! I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area and hungry for sushi, which is pretty much always! read more
