Just happened to run across this place for lunch and I am happy I did. Small sushi spot with great options and fair prices for big portions. Friend had the poke bowl with tuna and said it was great. Bento box for me with chicken katsu and California roll. Loved the miso soup and the roll. Katsu was also great but could have been a little bit warmer. I have been meeting my friends and family there for about 5 years, at least once a month. My favorite style of Sushi, Nigiri, slab a raw seafood over pad of rice, has been excellent every time I eat there. So tender and flavorful. Perfect portions, The reason why I always return. I've never been served anything but the freshest seafood every time. Their OG Tempura Shrimp appetizer is the best, the only place I'll order it. I've been disappointed by other sushi restaurants over time, then go looking for another. So glad I've found a place that consistently serves great sushi. My family usually gets a variety of their sushi rolls, which all are always amazing and one of my employees, who works out at a gym right by there, goes there at least twice a week after working out for their teriyaki chicken and always raves about how good it is. read more

Had dinner at Oishi Sushi. It was busy! Service was excellent. The food was delicious. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars, is that we've had better spider rolls and salmon at other local Japanese restaurants. What really stood out was the bento box selections. I should have selected teriyaki beef instead of the salmon. The salmon was overcooked. Hard, and not very tasty. The salad dressing had no taste either. I am accustomed to delicious ginger dressing for salads at Japanese restaurants. The tempura was delicious. My husband said that he's had better spider rolls elsewhere. To be fair, we've lived in areas that have superb Japanese food (Hawaii, Guam, and the Bay Area in California). And my husband has traveled to mainland Japan and Okinawa. He's a military veteran, and so is my dad, so we've lived in several states, and overseas. Sooooo... for Southwest Washington, Oishi Sushi is definitely worth trying, for lunch or dinner. I had the worst experience. ordered a California roll and a baked scallop roll. California roll came fast, but not provided napkins or chopsticks and server never came around. I had to get up and ask for basic things. My baked scallop roll came 20 minutes later and was cold. They told me they will remake it and it was cold AGAIN. Only as I was paying, they told me the roll isn't baked, just the scallop that goes on top. That doesn't make any sense, why advertise it as a baked roll and it's in fact not baked.They told me it's a cold California roll sprinkled with "baked" scallop shreds." standard California roll is $9 and the "premium roll" was $18. Out to lunch and ready for some sushi. We found this quaint restaurant tucked at the end of a strip mall with busy shoppers. We were greeted and guided to the last open table. So this place was packed at 12:30p.m. A good sign! Waitress was very nice, and took our drink and appetizer order. We had the Mixed Vegetable Tempura. An unexpected large plate of Prawns and Vegetables fried with Tempura. Absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the Asparagus Sushi Roll in Soy paper. he said it was pretty good. I ordered the Bento Box Teriyaki Chicken with a California Roll. The tray was very big and filling, I had to take home leftovers. just so much food. Excellent tray, I would order again, but to share, it's that big. At the last minute I saw that one of the specials was Lumpia. I had to try. A little thin on the size, but it was tasty. If you're in Vancouver by the Mall, look up Oishi Sushi, it's near TJMaxx area. And if you're going for lunch, go around 1 p.m. less of a crowd. read more

This is our go to place in Vancouver. The fish they use is fresh and tastes great. We usually enjoy their rolls (especially the Hot Night roll on the "specials" board). Their teriyaki chicken is also good, as is the tempura. I have recently discovered that I have a gluten intolerance and I was nervous to make sushi for, but different servers at Oishi have been able to speak knowledgeably to me about gluten-free options on the menu. They are aware of the ingredients that might cause problems and had no problems checking on things they were unsure about (like the wasabi!) If you are celiac or highly sensitive, proceed with caution, but the staff knows what's up and is great about answering questions and making modifications. We often order to go (call the restaurant and order directly for pick up!) but have enjoyed eating in the cozy, quiet restaurant as well. If you are looking for fresh sushi, tasty teriyaki, and wonderful people, I recommend Oishi Sushi. read more

Went for lunch and delightfully missed the full lunch rush. Looks like they have catering options that includes their sushi. We tried their jalapeño bombs for an appetizer and one of their deep fried specialty rolls. Both were delicious. The roll had many flavors inside, including something sweet that wasn't cream cheese, but the flavors were good. Oishi Sushi is a solid establishment, a bit pricey, and with smallish portion sizes. Flavors are good, and the food is very fresh. We opted for take-out instead of dining in during the COVID-19 pandemic precautions. Staff wore masks and gloves, with the exception of the sushi chef, who wore neither. During lunch time, they have a kids teriyaki bowl that will fill you up. I would recommend the pork. It has the most flavor and moisture out of chicken and beef. I tried something new and it was the poke bowl. I was not impressed with the poke bowl and wished I got the usual which is a teriyaki bowl. Other places I have been too usually have their poke marinated with different sauces for more flavor. Without any soy sauce, there isn't much flavor although adding soy sauce doesn't do much. Service and prices were reasonable. I've had sushi here from a long time ago but I thought it was mediocre. I would only come here for the teriyaki bowls again. read more

She said it would be ready in 15 minutes and it was. She brought it out the the truck for us. We paid outside with our credit card and we were back on the road. We got the couch roll, spider roll, Mexican roll and they were all delicious. I like that they gave us plenty of wasabi and ginger. They have big portions too and very fresh. Sushi for brunch and Oishi always satisfies my cravings. It is a treat considering it is one of the few authentic sushi restaurants around Vancouver, WA. Comforting and delightful vibes all around. This was my worst sushi experience ever....and I've gotten sushi from a gas station before. We ordered meals & multiple rolls. They didn't send the correct meals, and they were SUPER dry. The rolls were incorrect and also sub par. They didn't send utensils(although I'm not sure if they normally do). They didn't send soy sauce... and about a tsp of Wasabi for ALL of the rolls. I ordered two miso soups...only got one. I called and they treated me like it was my fault.... what a shame. read more

Very underrated business: has excellent food for wonderful prices, but when we went there, we found it nearly empty. We stopped by for a quick pit stop, and got refilled with a full experience. Lots of great quality food, definitely would come again on my next road trip by Portland. read more

Oishi Sushi is a very strong sushi offering in Vancouver. There were a lot of good things and just a couple bad things. We came here for a late lunch since Mio was closed during their typical service break. We ordered the tempura prawns, volcano roll, salmon roll, and teriyaki chicken. The quality of food was very good. The tempura batter was very crisp with traditional tempura sauce. The teriyaki chicken was cooked nicely and the fish was very fresh. The service was decent but nothing to rave about. The empty plate from the tempura sat at our table during the entire dining experience. The real struggles with Oishi sushi is the cost and presentation. While the food is delicious, it isn't much to look at. The salmon rolls were cut in weird angles and were not holding together very well. The teriyaki came on a giant plate with a lot of empty plate as well. Our total bill out the door about over $50 which I think is a bit strong for food that tastes great, but looks home made by myself on the weekend. Nonetheless, Oishi is worth of future visits as their quality was very good. read more
