Had dinner here with 8 people on Friday around 7-made reservations ahead. Had good decor and were seated promptly. After that, things went downhill. The appetizers came out very haphazardly. One right away and the other 3 or 4 apps spread out over about 20 minutes!! One of the kitchen runners really didn't appear to have any training. Would come out with food and didn't know what table it belonged to. Also didn't know the names of what he was delivering-we just had to recognize it was ours! And our Server was very nice but not on point at all. Forgot to ask for one of our party's dinner order-she had to stop him from leaving without it! We had to ask for water refills (with completely empty glasses), had to either MAKE him take our dirty plates or put them on another empty table ourselves. And the poor timing extended into our entrees. One couple didn't get their third sushi roll until we were all done eating!! Just very bad service-not on top of it!! Normally I give some leverage if the restaurant is slammed but it was only two tables in our section-maybe he had a section on the other side of the restaurant??? I haven't even talked about the food. We had sushi mostly and some hibachi. The food is the only reason this is 3 stars. Was really pretty good food but the poor timing coming from the kitchen to the table and the really poor service from our server eclipsed the tasty food. We were all grumpy-but-with-full-bellies, ready to leave at the end! We're not locals, but if we were would firmly cross this off the list. Well, maybe only for takeout. We love this place! We often drop in for Happy Hour. Bartender is very nice and efficient. The happy hour menu has lots of variety and they are all delicious! Dinner items are great. Salads were disappointing though. For the price, they should be more of an entree than they are. read more

Recently stopped in during the dinner rush hour this past weekend and was delightfully surprised by the prompt service. The staff, many of whom I had a chance to interact with, were all amazing. I have been here many times. First they have a great happy hour with great deals. Overall however I have not been bowled over by the sushi s spite several visits. I will say it is a good place to meet a group at. The bar area and dinning area are large and very comfortable. This was my family's first experience with Wasabi Mt Pleasant and we will not be coming back. The service was extremely slow, the waitress had our sushi order wrong and then seemed unhappy that I pointed it out. Our steak was overcooked and we had to ask for our empty drink glasses to be refilled. The manager did her best to make it right by comping certain items, which was an appreciated gesture but not necessary. I drove by Wasabi one night and thought it looked pretty cool from the exterior so I made it a priority to come back. I have to say, the food was quite good. We had this sushi roll that was deep fried and it was heavenly. This was a special and I don't believe it's on the menu regularly. It was barely sushi but it was a great way to start things off. My wife and I split the Yaki Udon. Another well executed dish. While the food and service were above average, the pricing was borderline outrageous. If this place were to get its pricing in check, I'd give it at least 4 stars. The sushi pricing is reasonable but the entrees just seemed way too high. Based on others' reviews, I believe leveling out the prices will be the key to this restaurant surviving. If the prices don't scare you off, you can at least count on having a decent meal. read more

Mm my family went last night for the first time and I was not impressed. The restaurant was only about half full and the staff was friendly and courteous. The wait for the food was ridiculous which is why I'm giving three stars. You would have thought they were slam packed but that simply was not the case. The food here is good- the service is the issue. We met some friends for a combined date night on a Friday evening. There were several open tables with no wait, so the problem wasn't that the restaurant was packed. Upon arrival, we were seated in a back area by the hostess. We then waited 25 minutes for someone to come and ask about drinks, and this only happened after a member of our party went back to the hostess station to ask where are server was. Things continued to go down hill from there. My husband and I both ordered sushi and an appetizer. The rest of the table got hibachi, so I asked that the appetizer be brought out at the same time as the salads. The salads came out, but the appetizer didn't. Once the soup was brought out, I received my sushi roll. My husband had no food, and we still hadn't seen our appetizer. The waitress let me know that the back of the house must have got it mixed up. The hibachi dinners were then delivered, and our appetizer, but my husband's sushi was MIA. After letting my sushi sit for a total of 20 minutes, where it was now warm and droopy, my husband finally got his dinner. Overall bad experience, which is too bad because the food is good. We had the Diablo Roll, Lotus Flower Roll, and Gyoza. All of which I would get again, but not at this location. read more

Lots of options to cure your lunch hunger. I was surprised at the quantity of offerings during my visit. As expected, typical Japanese entries (Udon, rice bowls, ect) were offered but they also had a sizable Thai lunch section (Pad Thai, Curries, ect). I still chose the Udon, which had a great flavor and the chewy texture I expect with Udon. Most entrees come with a salad. While the salad was mainly lettuce with some hidden tomatoes, the ginger dressing was one of the better ones I have had. Have been to the Wasabi on Daniel Island several times, tried this place last night and while the food was good, the service was incredibly slow. Had two hibachi meals and some sushi. Liked the food, fresh and plentiful, but did not like waiting 40 minutes in between appetizers and mains. Asking when dinner would be out wasn't helpful. How do I describe this situation? We're hungry, we hit our go-to sushi and Asian fusion place. We eat here 1 - 2 times a month. Our last visit was subpar, manager took care of it. This visit, our food took 50 minutes, and we ordered before the rush. Unacceptable. Waitress, never acknowledged the wait or offer to take care of us. Sushi and sweet and sour chicken arrived. Sushi, who rolled this stuff-- a 2 yr old. Fell asleep. The 15 dollar sweet and sour chicken, 1/2 the portion size of last time. I would call it kids sized, tho she ordered off the adult menu. This evening my dinner check was for $48 .... I was in conversation with my son when the waitress took the check .... There was a $20 bill plus my cc..... She gave me a cc payment charge for $48 and assumed the $20 was a tip ..... 50% tip .... sorry, I'm not in that league ... I talked to the manager .... rude, nasty, condescending .... apparently people give 50% tips all the time (if you believe him) .... my last names is NOT Rockerfeller, I'm on a budget and have to be careful .... I cannot give 50% tips out ... period. I told the manager that $20 was towards the bill and I would like a cc bill of $43 .... too much to ask I guess ..... Manager became nasty ..... I signed the cc slip ... and line a fool added 20% ..... So now the waitress has a $28 tip on a $43 meal. I live up the road from the restaurant ..... needless to say I an VERY UPSET by the whole experience .... VERY BAD EXPERIENCE .... EXTREMELY unprofessional management. This review is going to be very different because they royally messed up my order through Uber Eats today... they made it right, tried again then messed it up again!! I was blown away!! But here's the thing, the manager was just amazing and willing to do anything to make the situation right. She actually got the order together and drove it to me with a hefty gift card!!! This doesn't even go into how amazing their food is! Today was the first day I ordered their food to the house ( just had surgery and can't drive). I've been there many times and they never disappoint!!! Their house salad is the best salad I've ever had, the dressing is amazing and the crunchy wontons make it that much better. My personal favorite is the Asian Tuna Tartare( i always add a little lemon and lime and soy to it) but it is the most amazing thing I've ever put in my mouth!!! My two year old is the pickiest eater, even at other hibachi restaurants and he shovels this food in his mouth!!! A spot of sushi (well actually some rice-less freshwater eel, done just right) and a bowel. Salads for both me and the Mrs. The Japanese salad was replete with multiple types of greens, and veggies with a amazing ginger sauce/dressing. Had to be one of the best side-salads every tasted in American and Europe by the both of us. Rest of menu was sweet and the sushi was quite tasty. Will have to come back and do a bigger spread with time and appetite dictate. The documentary movie "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" was even discussed with our waiter. read more

They've got it all..great appetizers...great rolls..great drinks..great food from the hibachi grill..great desert..and, I'm almost out of breath...great attentive staff! I come to this restaurant at least once a week, it is my #1 favorite spot in Mt. Pleasant! They have the most fresh and delicious sushi in town and it puts all others to shame. The atmosphere is modern and clean looking, and it is a very "nice" restaurant, and the prices are justified by the food. I usually get the "Scam" roll and it is my favorite meal in town! Not the same anymore for sure. Walk in tonight at 6:15 PM to see a big sign for Happy Hour 4-7. The hostess asked if we wanted high top or booth. We said booth. Then as we prepare to order we are told the happy hour is only for the bar area. They lost money for our party and we scaled back our order to a couple of sushi roles. Will not go back for sure and we finished our evening getting some great wings from Wild Wings just a few steps away. Poor waitress was even embarrassed explaining this to us. Glasses were dirty at each table, I asked why all the glasses were covered in dust and the waitress responded 'it's just lent from the drying towel' she proceeded to pour my water! What a difference about 5 miles makes. About 5 stars. After leaving due to bad service from Wando River Grille we ended up here. What a pleasant surprise to be able to get a table for our party that was now 9 people. We were greated quickly and got our first much needed drink quickly. This one was sooooo good. Just the right amount of tequila with a splash of soda and grapefruit juice. And the ice was good and solid instead of melted too soon. We got in our order quickly as it was pretty late and we had a lot of hungry people. I ordered the Green Curry Tofu dish and for $1.50 they gave me more veggies instead of rice(lowcarb). It was so good and the tofu really held the flavor so well. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their meals. They also gave a free desert to the birthday girl(mom). Have been here several times and have never been disappointed by the food or service. We only get the maki and the rolls - have not had any of the other dishes - so my review is based on that fact. The rolls are creative, the ingredients fresh, the fish - high quality. We have eaten sushi all over the USA and in Seoul, Korea. In my opinion - this sushi would be in the top 25% of all my tastings. The atmosphere is pleasant - the booths comfortable, and it is usually quiet enough to carry on a conversation. Super disappointing. My husband and I went here when it first opened, and it was just okay. We ordered takeout and gave it another chance, and it was even worse. I ordered a roll and got 6 small pieces, less than what I'd get if I just got sushi at a grocery store. My miso soup was literally about 4 oz. and had maybe 2 pieces of seaweed and tofu. My husband got the chicken teriyaki. Their house salad had maybe 3 crunchy pieces and the soup was again about 4 oz. with one noodle in it. Honestly, it was about the worst we've ever had. Great experience every time I have been to this restaurant. The service has been great. Servers are attentive with what you need and they are really good with refilling drinks. Food has been pretty good every time I have gone. The only thing I find annoying is that they do not let you substitute the salad for soup; however, it does not "annoy" me enough to dock it a star. Overall, I love this place. My family and I are definitely regulars for both lunch and dinner. Also, hot towels at dinner, genius! Looking forward to going back very soon. read more
