JI Fire Grill Hibachi Sushi is a ZERO nonsense hibachi take-out restaurant. The manager/expo woman at the front is quick, precise, and efficient. The dining room is simple and clean. Reasonable price point ($37 for 2 people), quick service (about 10 minutes), and good portions. Everything you need/want in a great take-out restaurant. We ordered the Triple Delight and Chicken dinner combos. Both dinners were well prepared, hot when we sat down, and well-portioned. We always love hibachi veggies and Fire's veggies were cooked just the right amount of time. Our main feedback would be to "punch up" the hibachi and sauce flavors/seasoning. We eat hibachi often and would love to see Fire add some more flavor/seasonings to their flagship dishes.

First or Final Stop on any Food Tour ~ On my second day of Vacay, the family decided to try a cheaper meal that wouldn't damage our wallets and Yelped something close on James Island. We were looking for something under $100 as that seemed to be the going rate for a family of 5 these days. When we saw Fire Grill, we busted a U turn and pulled in. As we entered, I immediately smelled the tantalizing smell of teriyaki. The place was spacious and clean and we found our table. We made our way to the counter to place our order and our team member that helped us was courteous and took our orders promptly. While we browsed the nice sized menu, we settled on the: 1. Gyoza : delicious and plump. Served with a delicious sauce. 2. Chicken LoMein: chicken was very tasty with well seasoned meat and fresh crisp broccoli. The seasoning was perfect and the portion was perfect. 3. Chicken wings: niece ordered Crispy wings and beef and rice. The beef was succulent and the rice seasoned to perfection. 4. Chicken Satay: succulent with a light hint of curry seasoning underneath. 5. Telfair Sushi: lightly fried and tasty and served with eel sauce, (not for people with gluten allergies) my brother will suffer tonight ~.. but he loved it ... The food and service were amazing and definitely one of the highlights of my vacation so far. The team did exercise COVID measures and wore mask to protect their customers. Definitely a terrific stop on this post COVID Vacation~ while I'm a Texas convert, I'll always love my Carolina roots and this was a nice treat on my back home tour. Highly recommended Ms. Foodie Da Islandgal29412

So delicious and affordable. We had a great date night tonight. Our server was amazing as well. My husband was very impressed with his sushi and I loved my hibachi. The hot sake was just right!

Food here was very good as was the service. We had a big party and they managed to push some tables together to seat us. They were very nice and quick with their service and all the food was delicious. The seaweed salad and edamame were very good. I had chicken teriyaki and man, was it yummy. The chicken was really flavorful and cooked perfectly. It was also very affordable. The bill for all 9 of us was only $144. Definitely a great place to try if you like Asian food.

Great grab and go sushi spot! I really enjoyed the wontons, spider roll and shrimp teriyaki bowl! Food was delicious and affordable! Looking forward to trying their hibachi next!

I had a hankering for hibachi today, so I decided to order some chicken and shrimp lunch. Pretty much got what I expected. Didn't fully fulfill my hibachi needs, but it tempered them for the time being.... Shrimp and chicken both over cooked. Rice a little plain. Veggies were the best part of the dish... most likely going to order from this place again, but probably won't order this same meal.

We got hibachi shrimp and steak, teriyaki chicken, gyoza and the Telfair sushi roll. The sushi was really good! Everything was great, I wish I had gotten a bit more steak and shrimp for the price but overall I would recommend this place as a convenient hibachi fix. Will definitely be back.

To start we ordered the trio: guac, queso, and salsa + chips and the quesadilla. The Trio was good, about what you'd expect for chips and salsa at most places. The quesadilla was quite good as well. I ordered the Lobster roll (forgot complete name) and the Tsunami roll. Both of my rolls were incredible. They were very nice, 10/10 rolls. The fish was fresh, and the flavors were on point. All of my friends also enjoyed the rolls they ordered. I also ordered the fish collar tacos, which is easily the best bang for your buck on the menu. The plate only costs $14 and it comes with 2 fat fish collars, not sure what species, forgot to ask, if I had to guess I would say grouper or cobia. These collars are beautiful fried and loaded with meat. Additionally the plate comes with some lettuce, cilantro, lime, pineapple pico, sauce, and 3 flour tortillas. If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty to separate the meat from bone, you will get three very very filled fish tacos and have meat to spare. Needless to say, the fish collar tacos were delicious and very well priced. All in all, I had a good time; the service was phenomenal, drinks were constantly being refilled, and there's really nothing to complain about. Great experience!

Now, Charleston itself has a slight smell but it's very unappetizing to walk into sour/fishy smell. We decided to push through and try it because it was down pouring. The restroom is a single room, gender natural restroom. It was gross. The floors were sticky and slippery. All jokes aside, she really needs someone to teach her basic customer service skills and how to speak to people. She is very aggressive and comes off very rude and flat out mean. Very limited seating across the room but we luckily we snagged a reservation. Our server was very friendly and went over some specials with us before taking our drink orders and inquired about allergies. We went family style and started with the crispy tuna rice, marinated cucumbers, dumplings and pork bao. We added on a few rolls and ended with the sesame lamb noodles and duck fried rice. The dumplings were unique with this crispy shell on top and had a creamier sauce. We did have to ask for soy sauce which is usually something we expect to get right away after ordering sushi. He gave us one dish of soy instead of all of our own which I thought was weird so we asked for more. I enjoyed the textures of the dumplings but I felt the sauce lacked a bit in flavor to complement the dumplings. Crispy rice looked appealing but we were all disappointed with the lack of flavor, especially in the tuna mixture alright the textures were on point. The sushi rolls were made well and you get about 5 bigger pieces. The best thing we had were the cucumbers! Simple and delicious, packed with flavor. The sesame lamb noodles were also prepared well, and had nice flavors overall that were unique. We spent about $200 per couple which I felt was quite steep for the amount of food we got, but overall I would say we enjoyed ourselves but a few things just fell short on flavors.

I appreciated how they filled their spicy tuna rolls with chunky pieces of fish instead of the usual ground tuna used in other sushi restaurants. Their offerings and methods of preparation, paired with their higher price point, suggests they are a higher end establishment. However, the atmosphere was undoubtedly on the casual side, and their service, although friendly and knowledgeable, exuded a lack of experience and the same attention to detail that they put into their food. This was especially apparent after coming from eating at other restaurants in a similar price bracket, where you can sense the waitstaff had a lot of pride and passion for their craft, and it didn't feel like it was just a job for them. In contrast, our experience at Shiki felt far more transactional, and lacked that "customer obsession" and genuine warmth. That said, it's difficult to judge a restaurant's culture just from a single night, and maybe other customers had a different experience from us. Ultimately, if good sushi is your priority and you are willing to splurge a bit, Shiki meets and even exceeds that bar.

The first course was seaweed salad with baby octopus, and I could have happily sipped that dressing like a cocktail. Light, bright, perfectly balanced, with tender octopus that added just the right bite. From there we decided to sample our way through the menu and ordered a lineup of rolls: Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Shiromi, Rainbow, Spider, Lemon Salmon, and Eel. Each one seemed better than the last. The Spicy Shiromi was the clear standout--absolutely spectacular. What really sets Shiki apart is that every roll has its own distinct flavor instead of the one-note sameness you find at so many sushi spots. You can tell real care goes into the preparation. If you're searching for fresh, thoughtful, genuinely delicious sushi, don't overlook this little gem. Shiki is the real deal.
