I ordered the lobster roll with coleslaw and started with two appetizers--the mussels and the crab dip. The mussels were served in a fennel and lemongrass broth that was fragrant, delicate, and absolutely delicious--perfect for soaking up with bread. The crab dip was surprisingly light, not overly rich, and had a fresh, clean flavor that let the crab really shine. The lobster roll was also a standout--simple, lightly dressed, and served on a perfectly toasted roll. The coleslaw added just the right amount of crunch and brightness on the side. I recently visited Pier 41 and had such a nice time! I love seafood, so of course I had to try as many items as I could while I had the chance. I was blown away by the welcoming and friendly staff as soon as we sat down. I really enjoyed the small, intimate vibes of the restaurant. The kind of place I would feel comfortable being a regular at, sitting at the bar and enjoying all my seafood "flavorites"... if only my wallet would let me. The seafood tower and lobster ravioli were sooo good, just wish I didn't have to share. But the most memorable was the grab dip! It wasn't heavy and the amount of crab within the dip was perfect. It's usually served with pretzels but we were given the option for wontons by the waitress. The wontons made the dip feel lighter and emphasized the flavor of the crab! I hope they keep this as an option for the future because I loved it. I believe the pretzel would have taken too much emphasis away from the dish, especially as a crab enthusiast! I will definitely be returning to Pier 41 to treat myself when I need a seafood hit. Especially on Thursdays with their amazing crab leg deal! Randy was an excellent host- he was well-versed on the menu and helped my Mom and daughter with their selections. He also made sure that our food came out on time and our drinks were never empty. Found this small place on Yelp, as a highly rated, chill restaurant. We were looking for a lobster roll and some fish tacos after spending the day surfing at Isle of Palms. We ended up getting hush puppies as well thanks tho their happy hour! The vibe was a little quiet with not much going on, due to there is very little seating. When we got our food, we were definitely a little disappointed. Our appetizers came after our entrees arrived and the lobster roll was as small as my partners hand. The Lobster Roll also had almost no butter and was lukewarm at best, a ripoff for 24 dollars! The fish tacos and hush puppies were pretty good though. The service was pretty average at best, there was one waiter with exceptional service and vibes, but he wasn't working with us. We probably won't come again. read more

It's a small establishment so plan accordingly if you have a large party reservations are recommended. We started with a dozen oysters and tried the brisket/crab fried rice which seemed to be everyone's favorite. For dinner ever ordered the smash burger which was odd since it's a seafood place, I had the crab boil, smothered in garlic butter the crab was amazing! The bad: dinner for 5 adults and 2 kids took 90 minutes. They were understaffed and slow. We found Pier 41 because we wanted something close to our RV park. Hubs found this online and how we wish we'd found it sooner. We went during happy hour and had wonderful G and T's. OK it's update time! I came in recently for the all you can eat crab legs and it was better than I could've ever imagined. I almost don't know if I should share this information with you because I want to keep the news all to myself. I'd seen posts about it on social media and planed my attack for a Tuesday night (Hint: that's when they have a AYCE crab legs). I saw a comment that you could make reservations which is not possible at other AYCE crab places so I called them up and made one for 7:45 PM with crab legs running from 8 to 10 PM. We started with a tasty little side salad and you can choose between fries and coleslaw, the fries are obviously where it's at. I tried not to bother with them to save more room for crab but I couldn't resist. I figured the place would be crawling with crab lovers but maybe the word just hasn't got out yet. For two people we started with four clusters, and they were all perfectly cooked. When they do them right the crab doesn't stick to the inside and the shell still has enough crack that you can get through it easy enough without it being soft and bending. Every time our platter got low more crab came out from the kitchen and added to our plate. Towards the end we started to slow down and they noticed the look of defeat on our faces but we kept going for a few more clusters. The all you can eat crab is $40 per person that includes the side salad and fries or coleslaw. Add in the fact that you don't have to wait for a table for two hours and that's a steal. I hope they keep the special going because I would love to keep coming back for it. This is difficult to write since this little neighborhood place has been a favorite in the past. The past few visits have gotten progressively worse. Tonight's meal was a complete disaster, could not say which was worse - food or service. Based on the "specials" section of Pier 41's website it clearly stated "April 6 Thursday special - half price crab legs." Upon arriving, our server informed us the special "changed" and that the half price was now Tuesday - despite what was offered on the website. Eventually, our server returned and said she would honor the half price deal since she was "GM" and she didn't know the special had changed. The half price deal was $20 for a pound of snow crab - no sides. The crab arrived cold - with actual ice crystals in some of the meat. My companions fried seafood plate tasted of stale cooking oil and she could not finish more than a bite. The actual meat in the "pound" of crab amounted to maybe 3 ounces with many of the legs hollow. We might have pointed this out (or ordered a second cocktail) if our server had returned. Our food was delivered by a kitchen staff who put the plates down and left. That's the last we saw of anyone until I waved another server over and asked for the check. That's when the real surprise happened: our check was for the full price, $40 for barely a mouthful of crab with a total bill of $72. I had to wait at the bar to get a correction on our check with our original server nowhere in sight. Between the ice cold crab, the rancid oil, and the lack of service the evening was a complete disappointment. After 2 prior bad experiences, there's no way we would ever return. This little place is literally around the corner from my house and I love to pop in for Happy Hour every now and then. They offer $1 oysters and bubbly from 4-6pm. The atmosphere's great. I love the cozy, familiar atmosphere of this little gem. I've often run into neighbors or friends and ended up staying for dinner. The fish tacos are delicious as is all the local seafood I've tried so far. Chef Florie adds some delicious sauces to his dishes, but not too much - just enough to make it interesting. We went for their oyster happy hour. The meat in the oysters are humongous but not flavorful. Some even smelled fishy . I ordered the ramen bowl ($25) and my husband got the banh mi sandwich. My ramen bowl had NO flavor whatsoever. It was probably worth $10. Way overpriced for the poor quality. I had to dump so much hot sauce in it. Pier 41 is a great local place which I just do not visit enough. You can tell locals love it as the parking lot is always full in the evenings, and their happy hour is not to be missed. The service here is always friendly, attentive and engaging. We can sit at a table or the bar and always feel welcome. The food runs a combination seafood with an asian flair. We love coming here for oysters, with both well known regional choices and locals available. But we really LOVE the soft-shell crab when the season has them on the menu. I stalk them on social media waiting to see their soft shell crab special. Other favorites include the lobster fried rice mac & cheese, kimchi fries, and mussels. While here enjoy a great cocktail or local beer. Then finish it with the fabulous flourless chocolate cake. Pier 41 is really a great place to enjoy in Mt. Pleasant, and we will be back. read more

Really 4.5 (Yelp can I get a half star). This is an awesome place for a drink and some food in Mt Pleasant. Nothing beats the happy hour $1 oysters and $1 Champaign.
