BEST SHUCKED OYSTERS IN TOWN. You read that right. Aside from fantastic taste and 2/3 being local oysters, there was not one piece of shell in any of them. Also they were completely disconnected from the shell so they just slid right out. The house cocktail sauce is also insane and is actually forcing me to go back to get the shrimp next time. Incredible horseradish spice and a lot of lemon. The tuna tartare is 5 star. Honestly a tie with bar167 for best in town tuna tartare. The dressed oyster is fun but next time I'll ask if there's an up charge for caviar instead of ikura. It was quiet on a Saturday so head over there so we don't lose them. read more

Service was great! Our server, a young lady, was one of the best we've had in years. Place has great atmosphere, but has recently merged with the restaurant next door (they connect through the lobby of what seems to be a boutique hotel). That side (I believe it's called Landmark) has an even better atmosphere and is very warm and romantic. We were looking though for an '''oyster bar" experience, and the menu's have been merged. If I remember correctly, there was only one variety but the dozen we had were excellent as was the Tuna Crudo. Our daughter"s fish dish (I think it was tilefish - was amazing). My wife and I got the pasta with seafood special. I think the seafood part was really lacking. The pasta shells themselves were perfect, the sauce a little bland. Overall a very nice restaurant and meal, but somewhat pricey for what we got. And definitely not an "oyster bar" any longer. read more

Came here to try something new and for a birthday. When making the reservation I requested The Quinte over in The Lowland, and when we showed up for our reservations, they tried seating us in the Lowland. I mentioned our reservation was under The Quinte and they walked us over. The noise difference between the two restaurants was massive. The Quinte was more "romantic" in a sense the atmosphere was darker and the place was quieter. The food was delicious. The pork schnitzel was the table favorite. The Tilefish was also really good, but it felt like it was missing something. The sauce it was in was amazing though. The Shells ragu was delicious. You could taste the seafood but it wasn't "fishy" tasting. Our server, I believe her name was Emma (?), was amazing. She went through the menu with us and told us her favorites and recommendations. 4/5 stars because the online menu said "Apple hand pie" which we were excited to try, but it was blueberry hand pie when she passed out the dessert menus, so that was a big bummer for us. It's almost as if Ernest Hemingway and Anthony Bourdain came together posthumously and sang a duet;that's what this place embodies. It's almost like a dream because the selection is so ethereally procured and the placement of every detail is vastly superior to any other dining establishment I've discovered in Charleston. This place has so much to offer so I certainly recommend making a trip here for dinner or happy hour. If you're staying at The Pinch, then no it's not your typical restaurant inside your hotel. They really take detail to a different level when selecting the items on their rotating menu. If you're up for it, I'd recommend the caviar service and the petite seafood tower. The service is impeccable. You can distinguish fine dining establishments such as this gem from the rest upon the presentation of their dishes along with their explanation of each item used and how they come together. On their rotating menu, they featured a strawberry foie gras topped oyster which I couldn't resist ordering. It was a vibrantly zesty yet indulgent morsel which I'm glad I sampled. These folks are creating some high end gastronomical plates which I presume will be featured on a magazine that promotes their caliber of greatness. I really wish them all the best and am fortunate to have been able to spend my birthday in Charleston with such great attention to southern hospitality in the utmost capacity through and through. I have several different places on my "foodie list" to try in Charleston and the Quinte was on the top of the list! Love the concept of a raw bar that doubles as a cocktail bar. They have a list of local oysters, and oysters from the east, west, even Canadian coasts as well. It is a little on the pricey side, we ended up spending more on our quick stop here compared to our dinner spot. Overall definitely will be coming back the next time I'm in town! read more

One of my fave spots in Charleston. I love that the space feels both luxurious and approachable. The menu is full of fun seafood options with unique twists -- my favorite being the broiled oysters with kimchi butter & crispy ramen. The seafood chowder is great with the AC pimento cheese on milk bread dipped in it. Overall, you can't go wrong with anything you order here. Executive Chef Jason Stanhope knows what he's doing. Unique small plates and a few seafood main courses. We started with a dozen oysters that were perfectly fresh. Then smoked fish dip with country ham. Very good. The most outstanding and unique was the Beef cut tartare and sushi grade tuna in a horseradish and lemon anchovy sauce. Crab and farro was very flavorful. Excellent wait staff, very knowledgeable, intuitive, and prompt. The entire staff is sensitive to food allergens and requests. What a great new addition to the vibrant food scene in Charleston. I seats at the bar alone like a real Parisian and first ordered oysters. The variety is so well curated and was so pristine.The Oyster's shuckers (Cody, I think & his team) are fun and so knowledgeable! My server (Greg?) was so attentive & sweet as well as the entire staff around! So I also got a shrimp roll. I wasn't expecting much but it was something that I will come back for again and again. I want one now just talking about it. Milk bread, Bottarga ( the golden touch) & Shemcreek shrimp. Super combo! I'm in love and will be back to try more stuff. I wish them the best. Let me start with the food and service, which was overall great and have no complaints there. My friend and I dined here last week on the first night we arrived in Charleston. We had the snapper crudo, oysters, shrimp roll, the steamed grouper in a brown butter sauce and we avoided alcohol. We understand there's always a risk with consuming raw or undercooked foods, but this is was not our first time eating raw fish and have never had an issue. Unfortunately, I came down with a crippling case of food poisoning hours later and had to be taken to the emergency room in an ambulance from our hotel. I was stunned when the doctor diagnosed me with food poisoning, because this place was very upscale. I tried to get ahold of the general manager, left messages but they have not contacted me back. I would say to the staff to take better care of food sourcing and handling so that future guests do not go through what I went though. I had to cancel a lot of my tours and pre-planned dinners because I was still getting over my food poisoning. read more

10 years ago I thought a really nice dinner was Red lobster. Whoa! Now it takes alot to make me be taken by surprise. I am not hard to please but I am hard to be extremely impressed. For a couple of years now I have been following a guy we met as an oyster shucker. Now he is a Chef at The Quinte Oyster Bar. Jerome comes up with some of the greatest and beautiful plates I have ever seen! We were able to sample some of the upcoming menu and I was literally left speechless. Just look at these beautiful plates! And the Red Snapper made me stop breathing. The way the foam melds with the thin sliced Red Snapper on my tongue. After sampling almost 300 restaurants in the Charleston area, The Red Snapper is my favorite and I will be back for more. The Qwintie & Caviar is everything in an Caviar Service without any of the work! But believe me if you have to ask how much it is, you may not want this dessert. That is not just any Ole Caviar, that is Ossera Caviar. I promise you though the way it melts in your mouth, the sweet vs salty, worth every single penny! Everything about the Quinte is very enjoyable. Small place, and your sitting really close to the other diners is my only complaint. I ordered two dozen oysters mixed to start. All extremely fresh and not one shell in the oyster after being shucked. Next order scallop crudo in a buttermilk dressing. Delicious and original, again super fresh. The white fish riilette with ham delicious. Steamed tile fish with brown butter and capers steamed in Japanese seaweed, perfectly cooked. Great location, decor and ambiance. Good attentive waiter and support staff. We ordered the Queen St Tower as an appetizer and is was good but not great for the price. Fresh, tasty but a bit pricey for what you get. In addition I think they need to be clear about the amount and size of the "Lobster" on the tower. Individual meals included assorted oysters,nice options and flavorful. Also a couple of fresh steamed Tile fish. The dessert was probably the least favorite of the table. read more

The Quinte is a cozy hip Oyster/seafood restaurant/bar. Attire was a mixed bag. More people were dressed in what I would considered Charleston dressy. Meaning men in khakis with a polo and women in something like a sundress. However there were plenty of people in nice jeans/shirt. I would feel uncomfortable wearing anything like leggings, ripped jeans, baseball hats etc. There is no view or anything special about the location. The seating feels very tight except for two large tables in the center of the restaurant. We don't enjoy being seated so close to other patrons that it feels like we're dining with them. Our service was great! Our water glasses were kept filled at all times. The waitress was pleasant and timely with taking our food and drink orders. Food came out at the appropriate time. We ordered the large seafood tower and between the two of us we couldn't finish it. I must admit we didn't arrive with huge appetites so maybe others might feel the need to order a little more. Every thing on the tower was fantastic! The lobster was grilled to perfection! It had a slightly sweet grilled flavored that didn't require any butter! We don't usually get excited about shrimp but the shrimp on the tower was fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Despite appreciating a wonderful meal at Quinte we will not be returning. The restaurant is extremely loud! We had a difficult time conversing across our little table. Several times we had to guess what the waitress was saying or ask her to repeat herself. Let me be clear we're under 60 years old. Hearing is not a problem. It felt like the people next to us could hear every word we said since we had to talk so loudly seated right up next to them. My wife and I stopped here for a quick drink and something to nibble on an early Thursday afternoon. Staff was friendly and attentive and sat us at the bar. Wife had a Pilsner and I had a house specialty cocktail that was essentially a spicy margarita - Quinataur I believe was the name. Both were very good and we each ordered seconds to go with a plate of raw oysters that looked as good as they tasted - excellent! We had a very exciting dining experience last night at the Quinte Oyster Bar located in the newly opened Pinch Hotel at 36 George Street in Charleston. Upon entering this very small intimate space at 7:30pm we were overtaken with the high-volume hip vibe of very attractive people all of whom were happy and enjoying life to the fullest. We were immediately seated at a great table and introduced to Madeline our very capable server. She brought us a bottle of sparkling water and two Tito Martinis to get us started. She suggested of course oysters and so we sampled a variety of a dozen oysters very fresh and all very delicious. We then ordered the Shrimp Roll and the Steamed Trigger Fish with a bottle of Viognier wine. Sam the Manager was watching over us the whole evening making sure we were being well taken care of. Upon finishing our last glass of wine Brenda and I both agreed Quinte is an exciting dining experience providing all with a happy hour like exuberance which transforms even the most troubled soul to an upbeat optimist.
