I was charged $9 for a vodka soda. Shocking no one was in there! And I'm adding extra spaces because Yelp told me I had to.

Same thing, different name. If you know you know! Place as dead at 5 on a Friday. Now I know why.

I was there for 2 hours from 3-5 pm on a Monday. Had three Yuengling drafts and my bill without tip was $25.56. Absolutely absurd for MP.

Great little area in North Charleston. Bars and restaurants up and down the street…read more Madra Rua is a traditional dark, rustic Irish pub. Guinness is on point. Fresh! Ordered the fish and chips. Tasted great. Would have been nice to have had one more piece of fish. The one I had was large but felt it was a small portion. Fries were good. They were the fresh cut, darker, flemsy kind if you know what I mean. I like them but some folks don't. Sat at the bar. Bartender was attentive and food came out quickly.

This came as a nice discovery for me as I am new to the area and still learning where the hot spots are. Inside, the restaurant feels like a traditional Irish pub: dark wood, very dim-lit, regulars pooled around the bar, weird little corners and nooks everywhere. Our server was as nice as can be. Can't go wrong with the Fried Pickles, they hit the spot and were not too breaded. Fries were great. We all ordered the Shepherd's Pie, served with a side of Irish soda bread, each $18. For what you get, I feel it's a little steep. The angus beef was seasoned and cooked beautifully, very moist and not dry at all. However, all three of our meals mostly consisted of mashed potatoes on top and an off-ratio of angus beef on the bottom. It felt unbalanced and did not have nearly enough meat, and all of us had the same experience. The potatoes were dry and not particularly impressive; I expected more from a place billed as a traditional Irish restaurant. Given that I came with two others and we all ordered the same thing, though, I didn't get to try more of their menu and I wouldn't be opposed to going back to try more items on the menu. Maybe it's just not the best thing they have.

If one were to wonder about off of W 2nd St and S Cedar St one might find an "England like" side…read morestreet of laid brick in a narrow claustrophobic corridor. Reminiscent of Victorian times in many European cities this side street happens to pass by a little cozy pub named O'lacy's. The outside is unassuming with the aqua blue painted brick façade with wood and green (for the Irish!) accents. Open up the doors and one is hit with decades of ground in beer smell, that's a good thing and elevates the authenticity in my book! Inside the worn wooden floor holds up a weathered bar that runs almost the entirety of the pub while the other side has most of the mismatched sofas, love seats and wooden chairs. The aqua walls have various pub staples like neon lights, beer mirrors and pictures. It's a very comfy atmosphere, laid back with notes of a partially underground pub in Ireland. Be warned now, the website said there would be live music and there wasn't and the bartender admitted no one was scheduled. Moreover, I read somewhere they had food and they do not. I'm just letting everyone know they should call first to ensure whatever website info is confirmed. The one time I stopped by, there was one bartender trying to support the regular patrons as well as an impromptu bachelorette party pop-in. She did the best she could but she was really behind, throw in the fact I had drunk ladies cutting in line for their shots irritated me but I digress. The drinks were a little slow as expected but they were priced fairly. I only stayed one round which was at roughly 7:30 and left to find some live music. I'm not sure why but besides one bar in Summerville, the nightlife is dead. That said O'lacys is a cool place to hang out and unwind after a long day. I'm not sure about the late, late night life as I left but when I was there it was ok. The prices are fair and the drinks are standard but don't expect a huge list of creative cocktails. I'm not sure if I'll be back as I have other priorities but don't let that stop you from stopping by, it's a slower vibe which many can appreciate.

Pleasant…read more Don't let the location fool you--what this place lacks in flashy signage, it makes up for in flavor, charm, and serious scoop artistry. The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a bright, cheerful space, flowers everywhere and the welcoming smell of fresh waffle cones being made right behind the counter. The staff? Warm, patient, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping you find your new favorite flavor. Whether you're a kid, a grandparent, or somewhere in between, you're treated like a regular. The ice cream. It's next level. Every flavor is creamy, decadent, and clearly crafted with care--no mass-produced shortcuts here. Local favorites like horchata, mango chili, and tres leches sit beside classics like cookies & cream and chocolate fudge brownie. You can taste the difference, and honestly, I'd choose Dulce over any big-name creamery in Charleston. Plus, prices are more than fair for the quality and portion size--great value for families or just an indulgent solo treat. Don't miss.. it's fabulous
