I had visitors this pub years ago but since then it has been renovated. It gives off an old English vibe inside despite being an Irish pub. It's decorated beautifully and it is super busy. I have to say it's one of the best places I've been to recently for excellent service vibes. The staff are attentive & efficient. They just put out a new food menu and I have to say it's varied & great... The cheesesteak... oh my... the mashed potatoes... oh my... the big plate of shareable nachos. It's all great. Team trivia here is fun, The only negative thing is that it's loud inside. Lots of people. A lot of shaded areas to sit outside also. Put this spot on your list for a casual spot to catch up with friends & have great pub food.

The server was really nice and attentive. He also provided some good recommendations for my meals. I got the fisherman's pie and the Rueben rolls. Fisherman's pie is pretty much a seafood Shepard pie. Really good and really hardy. The rueban rolls were basically egg rolls with rueban filling. Hard to go wrong when dipping something in thousand island. I also recommend trying one of the half and half beers! I had the black and blue which seemed like an odd. combination but it worked well together!

This came as a nice discovery for me as I am new to the area and still learning where the hot spots are. Inside, the restaurant feels like a traditional Irish pub: dark wood, very dim-lit, regulars pooled around the bar, weird little corners and nooks everywhere. Our server was as nice as can be. Can't go wrong with the Fried Pickles, they hit the spot and were not too breaded. Fries were great. We all ordered the Shepherd's Pie, served with a side of Irish soda bread, each $18. For what you get, I feel it's a little steep. The angus beef was seasoned and cooked beautifully, very moist and not dry at all. However, all three of our meals mostly consisted of mashed potatoes on top and an off-ratio of angus beef on the bottom. It felt unbalanced and did not have nearly enough meat, and all of us had the same experience. The potatoes were dry and not particularly impressive; I expected more from a place billed as a traditional Irish restaurant. Given that I came with two others and we all ordered the same thing, though, I didn't get to try more of their menu and I wouldn't be opposed to going back to try more items on the menu. Maybe it's just not the best thing they have.

The corned beef and cabbage was excellent. The corned beef was tender, flavorful, and served in an extremely generous portion with cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and horseradish sauce. One of Charleston's best spots for a hearty meal and a pint. I'll definitely be back.

Reminiscent of Victorian times in many European cities this side street happens to pass by a little cozy pub named O'lacy's. The outside is unassuming with the aqua blue painted brick façade with wood and green (for the Irish!) accents. Open up the doors and one is hit with decades of ground in beer smell, that's a good thing and elevates the authenticity in my book! Inside the worn wooden floor holds up a weathered bar that runs almost the entirety of the pub while the other side has most of the mismatched sofas, love seats and wooden chairs. The aqua walls have various pub staples like neon lights, beer mirrors and pictures. It's a very comfy atmosphere, laid back with notes of a partially underground pub in Ireland. Be warned now, the website said there would be live music and there wasn't and the bartender admitted no one was scheduled. Moreover, I read somewhere they had food and they do not. I'm just letting everyone know they should call first to ensure whatever website info is confirmed. The one time I stopped by, there was one bartender trying to support the regular patrons as well as an impromptu bachelorette party pop-in. She did the best she could but she was really behind, throw in the fact I had drunk ladies cutting in line for their shots irritated me but I digress. The drinks were a little slow as expected but they were priced fairly. I only stayed one round which was at roughly 7:30 and left to find some live music. I'm not sure why but besides one bar in Summerville, the nightlife is dead. That said O'lacys is a cool place to hang out and unwind after a long day. I'm not sure about the late, late night life as I left but when I was there it was ok. The prices are fair and the drinks are standard but don't expect a huge list of creative cocktails. I'm not sure if I'll be back as I have other priorities but don't let that stop you from stopping by, it's a slower vibe which many can appreciate.
