Wow this was awful. Met with my family afterwork to have a quick bite before a movie and 2 hrs (YES! 2 hrs!!) later we were served! Not even all of us just 3 of us. So half of my family of 6 watched (and salivated because we were hungry) while they ate!! I'm NOT sure why we didn't leave. It's a regret because, yup you guessed it, no movie for us! Our waitress never came over to inform us of the hold up and only apologized after we said we'd like to leave. I'm all for a busy restaurant but really this was beyond unprofessional and not considerate. They never tried to make it right - which is why I'm giving this review. We found this place by accident when walking by and have been coming by regularly ever since - about 6 months now. Sushi is always fresh and everything js always delicious. I must admit, we have not tried too many choices off of the kitchen menu besides some appetizers and a couple of dishes but I remember them being good as well but the sushi is the real winner for us. We went for a spontaneous sushi run this evening and happened upon Wasabi in Larchmont. What a great surprise! Cute, cozy and a friendly staff! However, the biggest surprise was the amazing sushi and fantastic hot and sour soup! The sushi rolls were spectacular and original. The fish was probably the freshest either of us have ever had! Excellent! We are devoted regulars - sushi and chirashi dinners, almost weekly. We love Mindy too - she runs the place very well and takes personal interest and care in serving the customers. The side salad and miso soup are not much, but they don't really count anyway. With the Pandemic, it's all takeout for us now. The past year has been rough, but like a lot of restaurants, they have worked out the kinks and seem more efficient with the deliveries. We think the trick is to plan and order early. Also, you can pick up curbside to avoid delays. read more

Stopped in for lunch for lunch before work. The restaurant was practically empty with only 1 other table occupied by 3 or 4 ladies. I reluctantly took a table, perused the menu and ordered my lunch. As the lunch special came with soup and salad, these were served fairly promptly. While not a huge fan of Miso Soup, it was Ok, if not quite hot, as opposed to the tea which was steaming hot. The salad was chilled and I thought the dressing was tasty and not excessive for my taste. Lunch itself was good, but I thought the size of the rice portion was a little too small relative to the entree itself. Service was fine with 1 waitress covering both (by the time lunch arrived there was a third table occupied). As repeated by other reviewers, not the best but acceptable. I was excited about trying Wasabi, because there are no sushi places in my neighborhood. I am happy to frequent Red Plum for my fix, but on a nice day where I feel like taking a long walk and having a light and relaxing lunch, Red Plum is too far! I decided to finally hit this place up a few weeks ago--it has been open for a year now. I walked in, and Wasabi was almost empty, save for two tables (out of about 20). I should have guessed why. The sushi was really not all that fresh. I could smell the fish. I couldn't even finish the California roll... In fact, all the rolls were bland, as was the miso soup, and the portion of salad they gave me was meager. My boyfriend ordered the mango chicken, and although the flavor was good, there were way more vegetables and sauce than there was mango or chicken! Went with 2 friends for dinner, first up they served us miso soup in bowls that had cracks and chips missing. The salad was mainly lettuce stems and the ginger dressing was very watery. One friend ordered hibachi with steak and asked it to be done medium rare but ended up on the well done side. I ordered the spicy maki combo, rolls were very skimpy it seemed as if it was a 6 piece roll cut into 8 even then there wasn't a lot of fish. Tuna tasted odd and seemed really bright red. The seaweed around the roll was also hard to chew and was quite moist as if it might have been sitting around for a bit. Overall the restaurant had non-attentive waitresses, even though we were the only people there. Soy sauce on the table ran out during my meal and there was no one around. Our third visit to this relatively new incarnation. There were two previous Japanese restaurants here, but we had no experience with them. The sushi bar is well kept and well stocked, and their presentations are excellent! Two of us had sashimi dinners and one of us had a Sashimi-Sushi dinner. We shared a live hokkigai as an appetizer. All was very fresh and well presented. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Their maki too was well constructed, and very tasty. Previously we'd had dishes from the kitchen, and they too were excellent. The presentation and taste were both beyond our expectations. Service was good and the staff was quite attentive. Tea got refilled regularly and unobtrusively, well before it got low in the cups. The only issue is parking. Only street parking is available and it is not always easy to park close. We all heartily enjoyed our experience otherwise, and this restaurant WILL be a regular part of our repertoire read more

This is my 83 year old mother's favorite restaurant, so of course we go there, whenever we visit Mom. It is in the same space as Marimo, whose owners retired. I don't think it's bad, just kind of weird. They feature a number of signature complex sushi rolls. It seems that all or most of them are covered in a large amount of very sweet sauce, as are many of the other dishes from the pan-Asian menu. Which I guess is fine, if you like everything sweet. I ordered their chirashi recently. It had a huge portion of good quality sashimi on it, but also a distracting and large array of shredded daikon and other superfluous garnishes, no wasabi, and not enough rice. Next time maybe I'll order a conventional selection of a la carte sushi and appetizers, and see if I get something that is less creative, but more pleasant to eat. Definitely try the lobster roll- it is sweet, fruity, and delicious, since it is made with mango, which makes it an awesome summer treat! They also have decent dinner specials. Finally called myself and asked and they told me it was ready (close to their 3:30 closing time for an hour). Used to really like it here, sushi isn't that expensive and was usually good. Since moving they have really gone downhill. I went once when they recently moved and once again today. The setup of the restaurant itself isn't great and service took wayyyy too long, they kept apologizing which was nice but it still shouldn't take that long. Plus there were about 10 minutes between the person I was with receiving their food and me receiving mine and which should never happen, it wasn't even busy so there's no real reason for any of that. Today I placed an order for pickup; I ordered the sushi dinner, something I usually love.
