Interesting spot tucked in the back of a hotel in Waikiki. Décor is a mix of anime and random Chinese stuff (read: red lantern in the corner). Place gets packed after 9pm on weekends and gradually rowdier like any bar as the night progresses. It's a karaoke bar so naturally very loud and it's really not a good conversation spot if that's what you're looking for. I'm much more used to the traditional karaoke places where you get your own room. At Wang Chung's everyone queues up their songs and wait for their turns, then sing in front of everyone. It's a good vibe when everyone cheers for you at the end of a song, although the tradeoff is you wait a long time for your turn since everyone is adding theirs to the list. It's a good spot if you're coming with friends who love to sing. I'd opt for a different place if you're looking for a chill night over good drinks + conversations. read more

It's been awhile since I was here last, probably about a year and half ago, so decided to hit up their Sunday brunch again when Mark H was back in town from Vegas. Wang's is still a great brunch spot on Sundays with their delicious food and tasty mimosas. One thing that changed since we were here last is they no longer do the flowing mimosas deal of bottomless mimosas for a set price. That was a bit of a disappointment for us since we liked doing the Big Package which was bottomless mimosas and a brunch item. With that we were able to try each of their 4-5 mimosas they offered that day. The Big Package is now a pitcher of mimosas which is still a good deal when you consider how many mimosas that equals to but the difference is you're stuck with one flavor. What we ended up doing was each getting a pitcher and we shared half, that way we could at least get two types of mimosas to have. Each having a pitcher of mimosas made for a nice (heavy) buzz but it did make the walk back to the apartment through the circus that is Waikiki fun. read more

This is labeled a gay bar, and most of the clientele there was gay, but it was so much fun. You don't have to be gay to go here and belt out your favorite tune. They are very welcoming there and have some delicious drinks. They also have one of the largest karaoke song list that I have ever seen. It is online, so you can pull it up on your phone. Be warned, they have some real good singers there, but they make everyone feel at home. I gifted the bar with two songs. Songs are $1 and they have a big screen that displays the lyrics. The staff there is very friendly. This is one of the more hi-tech karaoke bars that you can find and is located behind the lobby of a hotel. I can't believe I have never been here. A small but stylish lounge-y bar with super friendly service. I had a butter mochi old-fashioned, which was just as delicious as it sounds. The interior is so adorable and the night I was there they were having trivia, which everyone seemed very enthusiastic about. it seems like there are a lot of regulars. Everyone was greeting each other and it just had a wonderful community vibe! My friend told me their food is really delicious but I will have to try it next time. Five stars for the most fun brunch on the island! We were looking for someplace to get the "Adult" members of the family together for brunch in the late morning and central to everyone. We agreed to meet up at 11:00 as brunch menu is served through 1:00 PM. So our grown up group gathered in front of the restaurant then progressed inside for Chicken and Waffles, Smoked Meat Scrambles and Michaladas! I've been to Wang's before for a couple on Yelp events and it's always been fun. This was better because it was family and we were treated so well taking over one side of the restaurant sharing bites and sips of our orders. Crispy fried chicken, crisper waffles and awesome smoked meats....champagne mimosas in pitchers....tall glasses of Michaladas! As we were winding down and just talking the servers were changing the drink menus, adding paper note pads and pencils...woo hoo it's Karaoke time. With a couple of morning beverages under our belts we decided to wade into the Wang's Karaoke fun and gladly grabbed the mic, I think everyone in the family sang sat least one song or joined in singing along with other patrons. Perfect bar to have a chill night with some karaoke! The bar is small, which is the only downside but it's a hidden spot so it's good in a way to not make it that known. Bartenders were amazing. Casey was very friendly. Drinks were reasonably priced as so and good! Lychee martini was what I expected it to be. They also have fresh squeezed lime juice for another drink I usually get so that was a plus. I was shocked considering it was a small bar, didn't expect the lime juice to be fresh squeezed. So some of my friends come here so often they should be paying rent. Wang Chung's is located in the lobby of the Stay hotel in Waikiki. It is super gay friendly and this is an all-crowds-welcomed karaoke bar with the best staff. Dan, the owner, has the most hospitable demeanor and gives free hugs; they are the best hugs. Wangs has pretty decent food for a bar setting and they do brunch on Sundays with mimosas. I love their drinks they concoct. Once a month they do drag brunch and it's always a blast. Some talented vocals come from the patrons. There is a private room in the back available for larger parties. Street parking only so I'd recommend Uber or Lyft. What's the recipe for the perfect bar? You'll find it in the flesh at Wang Chung's. I know it says Wang Chung's is a gay bar, but I would like to think of it more as a "judgement free zone". I would say the only thing gay about it is the rainbow flag at the front door or the Drag Show Brunch that they put on once a month. There's a good mix of people here and everyone is welcomed with open arms by the staff. The service here is amazing. The bartenders all love to sing and have amazing voices and are extremely sweet. Yes, I said sing. Not only does this place have an awesome vibe and great service, THERE'S KARAOKE! This isn't your typical Hawaii karaoke bar with the little tiny rooms though. You actually sing in front of the entire bar which might seem a little nerve racking, but after downing a couple of their amazing craft cocktails or local beers I'm sure you'll be dying to put a song in. They actually have a really good song selection. To top it all off...the food. The food menu changes about every few months and it never fails to delight. I find myself actually going there just for dinner sometimes. Off the menu you can get pizzas, burgers, and (my favorite) Chicken wings. I went through a Lemon Pepper Wang phase and found myself there about 4 times a week just for the wings. A very last minute, nocturnal decision brought us here. As my gang and I aimlessly searched for someplace open past 1am in Waikiki, the pickings were surprisingly slim. We were staying at the Sheraton Waikiki and Wang Chung seemed so far on the map as we were on-foot. But, after strolling down Kuhio Avenue talking, laughing and having fun, voila, we were at the front door! ATMOSPHERE: They're located in the back of the Stay Hotel's lobby (located behind the Hyatt Waikiki on a side street). It's a sliver of a space that was full of folks singing karaoke (pronounced kaah-rah-oh-kay, not Carrie-okie), drinking and having fun. We arrived a little after 1am and they close at 2am, so everyone was winding down and relaxed. There's a small central bar as you enter, with more seating towards the right corner though I didn't go exploring for details. EXPERIENCE: We got drinks at the bar and hung out on the side, winding down ourselves. I'm usually a white wine drinker but chose beer for my nightcap. I've always loved Heineken but you always get that one bottle with that rotten taste, in which I received here. After a few sips, I gave it to my friend lol. In no time, they were doing last call then the bright lights and kick-out. The staff announced to please be quiet as we exited as they have neighboring apartments. Most of the crowd hung out on the street, still talking and laughing. I was surprised no one shouted at them, but they're probably used to it. OVERALL: According to their website they serve food, but I didn't see any menus or anyone eating as it was almost closing time. Was not a fan. Came on a Sunday night, bar was crowded with only two bartenders. You pay $1 for each song request. We had to wait for at least an hour before our song was up. They don't skip songs if the person who selected a song is no longer there. I'm guessing the folks who were there, we're going through a breakup but every song that folks selected were breakup songs. So your night depends on the people at the bar. My recommendation for this bar is, skip the song if the person isn't there so you give a chance for the folks that are waiting. The new owner is a bit of a douche, calls the cops on his clientele for little to no reasons, was rude beyond measure. I love, love, love this bar! The names on the food and drink menu are so cute, and the atmosphere is great. People sing karaoke (badly for the most part, but that's okay) and it's very fun to listen to with a drink in hand and some grub. I got whatever their seasonal drink with elderflower was, and I ordered a mushroom pizza. The mushroom pizza had good flavor, but I think I prefer a marinara sauce over a white one. The bartenders were polite, but they were definitely busy. Service was decently fast, but definitely impacted since it was their 2018 anniversary, and it was a full house. Once I come back next year (hopefully for their next anniversary party), I will try more cocktails, and try a couple chicken dishes. Maybe even some brunch. read more

This is bar is a bit hard to locate, it's located inside another building. We came here around 9pm. There weren't that many people but the bar was full and there were people singing in the karaoke. My friend wanted to sing but we quickly realized that most of the people singing can sing well and have a good voice so he changed his mind lol. We haven't had dinner yet so we ordered some appetizer. They're pretty crunchy but the meat is lacking. My mojito drink was good but it was missing the mint leaves, so I guess not exactly a mojito? Around 10:30pm, more people started coming and the bar became more lively. I guess that's the best time to come. We fell in love with Wang Chung's while visiting Waikiki. It's a block off the main strip and still very close to everything. I wasn't sure how accepted queer life would be on the island but was pleasantly surprised when we were recommended this spot at dinner. We're super big karaoke fans and Wang's has such a fun set up. Instead of standing on stage you go into a tiny radio booth. It's perfect if your new to Karaoke or just wanting to live your diva fantasies! The bartenders found out it was my birthday and brought out beautiful, scented leis for us. It was my first time being "lei'd" in Hawaii, it was so precious. It actually made my birthday! Awesome place. First off, the decor is fun & energetic, plus the employees are friendly & upbeat. Second, they should be a model for how to run a karaoke bar during a pandemic. They have some basic, common sense rules that make it fun & safe for everyone. I also appreciate that they strictly enforce these rules. (Even though any sane, functional adult should be perfectly capable of following them) On top of all that, they make some great cocktails. There were three people in our party so we got to sample several of them & they were all great! Last, we loved their app based ordering & payment system. #ThankYouThursday When we can finally touch again, the first place I'm going to is Wang Chung's! I am going to karaoke my face off, drink ten cocktails, buy the entire bar jello-shots, hug total strangers from all over the world and then stumble out screaming joyfully to my Uber driver that this is "THE BEST NIGHT OF MY ENTIRE F*$^ING LIFE!!!" But until then... I am going to learn how to make cocktails with Wang Chung's cocktail kits! So far I have purchased their lychee martini kit and their Annamei unicorn mule kit and they have elevated my self induced inebriation during #QuarantineLife! Kits are $18 each for all the mixers + the recipe and both drinks have been spectacular! Making cocktails at home before this has felt so odd, but in true Wang Chung's fashion, each kit has made our nightly stay-at-home party for two so much more magical! I am so impressed with the housemade ginger beer in the unicorn mule kit and the amount of smooth ginger flavor it brings into each sip. Best part of these cocktail kits? They deliver within a 4 mile radius of Wang Chung's! Plus you can also purchase bottles of liquor as well if you're running low on supplies as well as savory food! This is soooooo long over due, this was the one job I had and I really missed the Assignment! Everything happens for a reason though and well I guess the reason is now. Omg. Amazing! I've always thought of wang chungs as just a bar. I've been a few times and it was always great. I liked the vibe and the drinks and the music. They have small tables and bar stools at the bar and when I went there were always plenty of friendly people. Now that bars and restaurants are closed, I've been ordering take out from various places, but wow, Wang Chung's take out is currently in my top 5 places to go. They're only open for a couple hours, but you can place your order ahead of time and schedule to pick up between 5 and 7pm. They have a few daily specials and a handful of drinks. Drinks?! Drinks! You can order cocktails to go in mason jars for $10. You can also order cocktail kits.... what is a cocktail kit you ask? They individually portion out syrups and flavors for you, all you need to do is follow the directions and add alcohol! It was so easy! And it's almost even better than ordering a drink at the bar because you can make it how you like it. For example, I ordered the calamansi mojito kit for $5, which came with 4 individual servings of calamansi juice, mint syrup, calamansi garnish and soda water. I made my first mojito, per the instructions, with rum. It was good. The second drink I made, I used less soda water and substituted soju for rum. It was perfect. I think will come back and order this many more times before this state ordered lockdown is lifted. For food, I ordered the taiwanese fried chicken with fries. They also had burgers available. I LOVE taiwanese style fried chicken, and wang Chung's was not a disappointment. It was crispy and flavorful. I loved the fried basil. I only wish I had some plum sauce to dip my chicken in. The Annamei Unicorn Mule is not only pretty to look at, it tastes good! Oh and it's magical too! It starts off blue, then purple, then magically turns to white! So cool, right? Ok this review is based on one drink and Ryan the curb side server whom brought out the great unicorn bag (I'll save for my granddaughter) with top notch ingredients to make their infamous Annamei's Unicorn Mule! Vodka with their homemade ginger beer or concentrate that's out of this world in rich deep ginger taste. Great for a sore throat or cold. Butterfly pea tea and of course lime juice and lemon peel with mint sprig garnish. It not only looks outstanding but the taste is an ultimate refreshment especially on this humid evening. And my wife and I do not like sweet drinks and this is not sweet. The key ingredient here is their handmade ginger beer concentrate a non alcoholic non cooked blended strained raw local Hawaiian ginger with a few other ingredients that make it out of this world. Many thanks Danny for the details. I strongly recommend for you ginger ale fans to order this ingredient. It can make an assortment of cocktails or even with no alcohol. Just add a little soda water for the virgin version or a Dark 'n Stormy by adding a high quality dark spiced rum and lime; a Gin-Gin Mule by adding gin and lime; a Pimms Cup by adding Pimm's No.1 and lime or I prefer orange; a Horsefeather by adding whiskey or bourbon and so forth the sky is the limit. So let's support this local unique little bar and folks by buying their ginger beer. A group of us came here this past Sunday at 11:30 am for their brunch! This was my first time here and it was definitely a fun place to be. Service/Environment- service was good. The bartender was the only server so it was a little slower but there were other activities going on to keep us busy! They had karaoke (for free!) and trivia! So definitely there for a fun time! Food- I was disappointed with the food... I ordered the Teri burger and it was not anything amazing. My friend had the eggs Benedict and she thought it was okay. We both agreed that the potatoes on the side were the best part of the meal. I wish they had more options. The mimosa pitchers for $15 are the best part of the brunch. Worth the $$$- for the mimosa pitchers, yes! For the food, no! The food was about $12 for all of the options Instagram worthy- not the cutest place but the activities were definitely instagram story worthy! So fun singing karaoke!!! Added to my go to list?- probably not a go to. This would be a fun place to go with a group to just get mimosas and grab food somewhere else afterwards. You definitely have to be in the party mood for this place. The only reason I couldn't give this place 4/5 stars is because I felt so gross after the food and just regretted it.
