Revising my review from 11/2024: My friends and I were visiting from out of town and Scarlet's was highly recommended to us! We arrived later at night and the place was already packed! It was definitely shoulder-to-shoulder in some areas, but the energy was high and everyone was having a great time in the crowd! The performers were amazing, super entertaining and interactive with everyone. Even though I didn't spend much time on the dance floor, I had a lot of fun dancing with my friends and enjoying the vibe of the venue! Overall, this is a fun spot to checkout and feels like one of the go-to nightlife spots in Honolulu. The only downside for me was the experience with the bouncers. They came off rude when we talked to them. Still, if you're looking for a high-energy night out, this place is worth checking out! read more

Super fun night here! One of my friends brought me here and I don't think I ever saw a drag show. Wow it's so entertaining and some of these drags are just so gorgeous! They know how to strut and dance to express the most feminine side! We went right at 9pm and it's pretty dead so the first drag show only drew a small crowd. But as the night went on more and more people came. The 11pm show was packed with people already! We saw that too and the drags we're doing the catwalk in other outfits too! The only thing I'd complain about is the smell... they just keep pumping out some super strong fragrance that choked A LOT of people. Every time that thing went off people started coughing. It's TERRIBLE! Please get rid of that smell... otherwise I would've given it a 5 star experience. read more

I am so quickly reminded why i hate clubs and going out. Went for the drag show on Friday night, I was told there is a new theme every week. Upon arriving, it doesn't look like much, but once you get inside, it's huge. Nice bar selection, lots of lights, seemed pretty clean, very much so your average bar scene. The VIP section wasn't too bad. The gentleman bringing us drinks was amazing, and so friendly. Made sure we had mixers with our liquor and water at all times! As for the show, not too bad. It is what it is for Honolulu. I've seen better but I did enjoy my evening up until the end. Went to the bathroom, there were two unisex ones and they were trashed... my friend and I went in a group, like EVERYONE ELSE BEFORE US, and we weren't in there but for 2 mins before a group of girls started banging on the door and trying to come into the stall. I opened the door after cleaning up the mess the people before us made, and I was immediately called profanities and she tried to fight me. That was the end of my night. Huge space with many rooms. Stage catwalk in the middle with drag and gogo dancers. Many bars and fairly easy to get a drink. Drinks were actually pretty good. My husband said it's the best vodka soda he's had, which seems funny to say, but I'll admit it was good. Bartenders were nice. Bar staff were out cleaning up drinks keeping it clean. Music was bumping. I heard a lot of songs I haven't heard in a while. Mix of pop, edm, hip hop. The crowd was a little wild. There's definitely a lot of very young people. Seems like a lot of college students. Kind of a fratty vibe. At one point, I wondered where all the gays were. A lot of straight people. People were dancing, making out, stumbling around, falling over. Classic messy club. It was fun. There was even a fight that broke out. It was stopped pretty quickly. read more

I have never been to the shows here, but the quality of the drag performances was great! They have a long catwalk and the performers are dressed to impress! Shows usually Friday and Saturday nights. The 9pm show has the most numbers/performers and there is 1 number at 11pm and 1 at midnight that the headliner does (11 and 12). The drinks are reasonably priced ($9 for alcohol and $4 for non) and there is a $20 cover. This place gets packed around 11 and there is loud music/gogo dancers on the catwalk when there are no drag performers. Street parking is scarce so come early or try to find parking in the paid lots since no parking on Hotel St. (buses only). Don't forget your ID! read more

There were literally 16 year olds in here....dont come here unless you're looking for trouble!!! Absolutely would not recommend!! Worse place in all of Hawaii!! Idk mannn ...They know they are letting 16 year olds in and they don't seem to care! Volturessss!!! Go to velvet instead. Woah! This place is massive. There are two main rooms. They play really good music to dance to and their lights are really trippy. We came on a Friday night and it was pretty packed, but it was easy to get a drink at the bar. The drinks are made really well and even though i like more liquor, they don't over pour. **READ THIS FOR AN HONEST REVIEW** I have been going to Scarlet since, well, they opened. Haha. Prior to that I was a Venus/Bar 21 nightclub goer. Miss those days. As someone who travels for business often and has been going to the West Hollywood and Vegas scene more, I think its time I start reviewing the LGBT nightlife. I dont go often, but I still go on occasion. Ill be reviewing multiple things, so please skip ahead, go back, pass go, do whatever you like to get to where you need to go in this review. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location (5 star): Scarlet is in Ft. Street Mall. As far as location goes -- I think its actually pretty good. They have tons of outdoor space and their venue is pretty big. There is ample parking ALL OVER the business district and Chinatown. Drinks (5 star): Reasonably priced and well poured. They do not under pour you here. They do not over pour you here. You will get your liquors worth. The only downfall is, some fancy schmancy drinks that you want, they may not know -- and when its poppin, they dont have time to google what youre asking for. So please, dont be difficult. Bar (4 star): Generally pretty easy to get a drink with very little wait time, however, there is really no organization to it. People just sort of fill in the empty spots at the bar and the bartender (rightfully so) does their best to accommodate the next person as quickly as possible. There are multiple bars here. Usually 2 or more bartenders working each bar. Layout (5 star): The venue is unique. There is 2 main rooms that have their own atmosphere and vibe and then you have private rooms, tables, and the dance cages. The separation is nice and the transition is easy. It goes from chill to rowdy the further back you go. Performances (4 star) Starts at 9 and more trickle throughout the night. Music (?? star): This is depending on your taste -- so I cant really give this a fair grade. I have noticed that they are boasting a more EDM, ravey type music vibe recently. Which is cool. But like, sometimes, like every now and again, people just wanna remember what it was like to f*ck someone through the lyrics of music. Thank you Keith Sweat. I get it, but in between going deaf from some newer tracks -- can a sister PLEASE get some Whitney or Madonna? Hell, ill even take Carly Rae or Britney (bitch). Private Tables (1 star): Okay -- sorry Scarlet. The last 2 times ive come here, ive gone "VIP" with a table by the Pineapple stage. For the cost, being identical to a private room, I can positively say, I dont think its worth it. I get it, youre at the stage -- but like, so is everyone else. People just enter the area. There is nobody to let people know "hey, dude, these people paid for this area. Maybe make them your friends and join them... but you cant be up here" You really are just paying $400 for some bottle service and strangers dancing with you on a couch. Private Rooms (4 star): Previous to the last 2 times I had table service, the 2 times before that, I had room service. WAY better at controlling the crowds. Absolutely would recommend this over tables. The only downfall, the performers do not venture off the stage to the rooms, so if you want to tip or get a better view, you have to approach the stage. Admission (2 star): Subject to change. I know that this has been changing, so I wont comment to exact cost, however, I will say that its probably anywhere from $15-$20 per person. ** I did have a previous issue with cover that was never sorted out. I purchased a table which included 10 covers. 7 people ended up being covered and 7 had to pay. The people at the door didn't tally the entry correctly, so I paid $140 additional ** Bare that in mind if your party is arriving at separate times and you have more than 10 The people (3 star): This is mixed. I have encountered some awesome staff there. The guy thats been there forEVER with the dreads (usually works the middle bar), f*cking love that guy. He comped me my first ever table during a Manila Luzon event a VERY long time ago when I worked for Sensually Yours. I still see him every now and again. Real sweet dude. Only reason for the 3 star is because I have also encountered a few servers that were pretty rude. I am a tipper. A very good tipper. I believe that people who do a service should be tipped based on a base percentage of what I expect to pay PLUS their performance. Please don't remind me to tip you a million times. I already know - Mahalo. Safety (4 star) Overall, a safe spot. There is security as well. And uncle will handle you Lastly -- the Crowd -- well, its become a mix of the alphabet gang and the hetero gang. Tons of military. I had an issue once with an obvious straight dude (and it sucks that I even have to mention that) but dont worry guys, I won ;). Anyway, the mixture is fine. #Equality. Just be respectful to everyone as we are all there to have a good time. read more

We usually don't get many superstars to Hawaii, whether it be for concerts, movie events, or drag shows. So when I heard that BenDeLaCreme was coming to Scarlet for an event, I did what any RuPaul's Drag Race fan would do and lost my dang mind. Although I rarely stay up past the early evening hours, I gathered my caffeine and friends for the trip to town. We figured that since the Fresh Fish drag revue started at 10, we should get there around 9:15. This worked out well, since we were able to grab a round of drinks and claim a good spot by the stage. The cover charge was only $10 and you can also pay this with credit card! By 10:00, there was a very healthy crowd in the Pineapple Room and Tita Titsling got the Fresh Fish review going. Hope you brought your dollars for the lovely ladies! By the time Miss DeLa herself graced the stage at 11, it was sweatier in that room than at a middle school sock hop. (There was an actual layer of condensation on the stage.) The crowd went insane as BenDeLaChrist reenacted her shocking sacrifice from All Stars 3. It was nothing short of pure magnificence. I haven't shrieked like that since I was at a Hanson concert at age 13. There was a break after her first set, so the DJ and dancers kept the crowd going until midnight. And then the curtain parted and the stunning BenDeLaCreme came back to do her famous "striptease" with layers and layers of bras. Yaassss! It was adorable, funny, and, so entertaining. I also loved being "glittered" throughout the performance, even though I'm pretty sure I'll be finding glitter in my things for years to come. After the show, we were able to snap a photo with DeLa and check out her merch. However, I wish the employees would have been clearer with the audience about how to line up, as the initial line to the side of the stage was told to clear away for the front of the stage line. I felt bad for the people who had already waited and were told they had to get into an even bigger line. But all in all, it was a fabulous night and one I'll never forget! read more

If you're in the Chinatown area of Honolulu and you want to see an amazing drag show or just blow off steam on a hot dance floor? Then this is it! The skinny and sweet: There's parking across the street. The lines weren't very long, even at ten o'clock. The drinks were done flawlessly all night. (No variances or skimping) And my favorite part? The music pumping off the dance floor coupled with the amazing entertainment. Depending on when you decide to visit, there is always something going on!!! The talented queens are always ready to bring it to the stage. I hosted my birthday after-party here on August 31st. The Dollhouse upstairs was just for me and about a dozen of my closest friends. And even on a crazy night, my waitress was courteous and fast on their feet. (Side note : no V.I.P. line after 10pm) When it started to be a crush at the bar my beautiful waitress actually let me know ahead of time to be prepared for slower service. Who does that these days?!? I was very happy and grateful to have such amazing wait help. Not to mention they were decked out to the nines!!! Really fun place! I had a blast. Drinks are strong, and music is loud! I saw a lot of people with ear plugs and after I left I understood why. If you come here frequently definitely recommend wearing ear plugs to protect your hearing. The drag shows are awesome, and I felt safe here with my girlfriend. Scarlet (previously the Fix, and before that Soho) is located on Pauahi Street next to HPU/Fort Street. Parking can be rough because downtown isn't the easiest place to find parking. There are a number of parking structures available close by or if you're lucky maybe you will score street parking on one of the side streets. I came here on a Saturday night, first time too! There was a fashion show being held and no cover charge until 10pm. The fashion show wasn't that great. I was hoping to see something fun and exciting. But the fashion show was like random people walking in rags..? I like the updated decor! I love all the crazy barbie wallpaper!! I also like the doll house they made. Club Scarlet has been a great place to visit particularly for my weekend as the multi-Grammy nominated and won show RuPauls Drag Race Queens performances are held every Saturday! I have missed these weekly performances since Covid 19 began in the early year of 2020 which shut down the club sadly. However I still want people to know how wonderful of a club the place can be and has been. Club Scarlet has been an integral part of the LGBTQI community:) Yesterday I passed it on my way to Walmart when I saw it has been taken down and reverted back into office space. With the closing of Angles/Lojax and most recently Fusion, the gay bar scene in Waikiki sure is shrinking, leaving just Bacchus, In Between and Hula's as the only options. Having never checked out Scarlet, we decided it was time to go! ATMOSPHERE: They're located in China town so the exterior isn't the prettiest of buildings. There are two sections to the club that plays two different types of music. The front portion is the smaller and nicer of the two, sporting a bar, a few seats, small dancefloor with stage, go-go dancers, and was much cooler (temperature) than the back. Music was more my style with dance/pop. Head through the dark hallway in back and it takes you to the much larger second room where there were so many bodies it was grossly hot. You could smell everyone's body heat and sweat, yuck! The vibe is dark, old and dirty. There resides a bigger bar, bigger dancefloor, a small loft, and a separate room with stage that had a "bottle service only" sign posted on the door, though huge garage door-like openings made the two rooms feel like one. A solo drag show went on in between music, featuring somebody from Ru Paul's Drag Race which one of my friends recognized. The music was heavy techno/trance that got real old real quick for me. My friend used the all-gender restrooms which she reported was beyond disgusting with "every bodily fluid imaginable on the floor". I'm glad I didn't have to use it! EXPERIENCE: I'm not sure why we spent half our time in the back room but I was over it after one drink. I must be getting too old for this s*** lol! I retreated to the dark hallway that separates the two rooms where I found a lovely sofa to sit on while contemplating what to do next as I was on drink number two. Just as I was about to wait outside for my gang, my friend that lives on Oahu showed up so I was happy. We retreated to the front room which had available seating and where we could talk story, finish our drinks and people-watch in comfort. SERVICE: Bartender service in the back room was quick and efficient. Drink prices were average. TIPS: Cover charge was a steep $15 on a Saturday night. They don't serve wine at all, boo! OVERALL: Your only option on the rock for a gay nightclub. read more

Worst bottle service of my life...period! I don't know what the qualifications are for working here, but our server was definitely the best of the worst. He was rude, unkind and definitely tried to rip us off! Our friday night began with our party of 7 feeling good and excited, as this was our first time ordering bottle service at this establishment. We were then greeted by our server thinking we were going to experience a fun filled and carefree night. Unfortunately, things started unraveling from the very beginning. Our server then asked for the credit card that was used to verify payment which is standard procedure for everything. I then told him that I wanted to close the tab because we would pay for everything else with cash. He was very hesitant and insisted that I keep the tab open, which totally annoyed me. After repeating myself several times, he finally agreed to close the tab. At this point, I was annoyed and put into a bad mood. After finishing our first bottle, we ordered another bottle. Our server said he needed the credit card back to ensure payment. I argued that we had the cash in hand. He refused and said he wouldn't give us another bottle unless I gave him back my credit card. He claimed that he would not add any charges to it, but I'm puzzled as to why he still wanted the credit card when we showed him we had the money right then and there? When he finally comes back with our second bottle and my credit card he then tells us that he usually doesn't give back anyone's credit card until the end of the night when he is given his gratuity. At this point I am livid, and had to be calmed down by my sister-in-law who intervened and told him that we were going to tip him at the end of the night. Someone please explain to me who in the right mind does this? A tip should be earned, and not expected. Just to show him that we had his undeserving tip, we then give him an envelope with 20% gratuity. Throughout the remainder of the night, he never came back to service us. He kept going to other tables but not ours. It came to a point where my sister-in-law had to walk to the bar to tell the bartender that we needed more cranberry juice. How is this bottle service that we paid good money for, when our server never really serviced us? The icing on the cake to a disastrous evening, was when we noticed him grabbing the leftover juices from other people's tables and proceeded to pour it in our bottles. Oh my god! Who does this? Seriously! Did he think that we wouldn't notice? When we caught him red handed, we asked him what his problem was? Those leftover drinks from other people's tables could've been spiked for all we know, and for him to give it to us, that is completely disgusting and inhumane! Overall, I will never get bottle service here ever again! I suggest that no one else does either. It's a shame and disgraceful that people like this are hired trying to scam and rip customers off. I have never had an experience like this in my entire life. I cannot believe this happened, and most likely won't be returning to a dreadful place like this. When employees care more about the money than the service they are providing, they shouldn't be working in a customer service oriented environment. read more

Went on a Saturday night for the drag show and you really gotta be there at 9pm on the dot because we came at 9:30ish and it probably ended at 10 :/ Drinks were also phenomenal. They'll either make it strong af if that's want or just sweet so you can't even taste it. I thought it would be more ab the drag show but geez it was a lot more vulgar than I expected and pretty much all male strippers. I didn't mind that just need some of the girlies up there lol. They were great though and very skillful. I really enjoyed the free lollipop they handed out and there was both a small stage/stripper pole for the public to use! So much fun. The EDM music was bumping through my soul. It was very loud which was great but definitely would go deaf if I went here every weekend. Don't waste your money on the VIP seating area. Although compared to Vegas prices, at $400, it is a serious bargain to have our own "VIP Lounge" right next to the stage with a bottle of Vodka and mixers. However, there was a serious crowd control issue. There were three of us occupying a rather large space and random strangers busted into our area to completely block our views. We tried multiple times to stop the savage patrons from busting in and crowding our space but they got angry and spilled drinks all over us. My thing is this--if they want the best view, they can pay too. I work very hard to able to afford a little bit of luxury like this and our server was no where to be found to stop the abuse from other drunk, angry patrons who literally climbed over our couches despite our efforts to block them. Absolutely so much fun!! Probably one of my favorite places to go and dance!! If you don't find yourself dancing in the cages, consider it the next time you go because it is so much fun! Located in the heart of downtown.... This is the spot you go with your gays and girlfriends when you don't want to be pursued constantly. Of course you can always bring a man.... Hehe. They have great music, contests, dancers *wink* *wink*, and drinks !! Vibe is always awesome and energetic. YOU WILL RUN INTO OTHER GAYS YOU KNOW. However, I'm really disappointed in the fact that they charge $4 for a bottle of water and do not offer tap--which is free. I think it's unethical and bad practice for any establishment to serve alcohol then not offer anything to counteract the toxic effects of the booze. It's a safety issue. There's also only 3 bathrooms so the line can get pretty crazy. I don't know why clubs always do this--why so little bathrooms ?!?!
