The best and quickest eye appointment ever! I've been wearing glasses/contacts since forever and I've had different eye doctors from moving around. It's hard sometimes for them to get you the "right" prescription and even for them to just be "normal". Well. Let me tell you about my experience at the vision center. I desperately needed new contacts and new glasses since my prescription changed and it had been 2 years since I last saw the eye doctor. I tried to push it off after covid was over but I was unable to. I needed to be seen! Booking with Walmart had me a little skeptical at first especially with all going on. I decided to still give it a try and booked an appointment 2 weeks out. Upon arriving , everything's closed off and only by appointment. They immediately do a temperature check and then let you in. Only one person per household. Everything gets disinfected and everyone's wearing masks. They make you fill out a covid survey to see if you or anyone around you has had covid. After all the sanitary checks, they quickly take you to get your eyes measured in the little machine. Moments later Dr Carpenter was already seeing me. I ABSOLUTELY loved her. She was so down to earth and real. Had short conversation but cool enough to not make it awkward. The Dr had me in and out in less than 15 minutes and absolutely nailed my new eye prescription! Seriously loved this vision center, the staff and Dr Carpenter. I hope they keep their customer service and sanitizing going post covid. read more

They are very friendly. And they take the time to make sure our eyes are checked correctly. Had some difficulty with vision center on 9. They tried to tell me the glasses they gave me were correct and they were not. We have never had any problems with this vision center. They even found more items We had from our insurance that we never knew. No one has ever told us. We went tried vision center for 2 years came back to Walmart and they remembered my son. She remembered what she did and what his eyes were at the last time she saw him. That is good. read more

I have a very complicated prescription that my eye MD wrote out and the store manager himself served me. He did an excellent job. My advice? Get your eye MD to write the prescription. Also show up early. The store was open at 9 AM and I was there a few minutes earlier than that to avoid the rush. Great prices, quality and customer service! read more

I will not be returning to Fishkill's Walmart (aka. Scum-mart) Vision Ctr. I had a 6:30 pm appointment yesterday. I commute in/out of the city everyday so I left work 2 hours early to make it to the appointment. I showed up at 6:33 pm and was told they could still take me. The receptionist (who was actually friendly) did all my preliminary eye tests, but then had me wait 25-30 minutes for the doctor (without contacts in, so I had limited vision) only to tell me around 7 pm that the doctor was too backed up and because I came last, I would no longer be seen. As per usual, Walmart demonstrates a complete lack of professionalism and customer service. Because I was 3 minutes late, they should have just been up front upon my arrival and said they couldn't take me rather than telling me that they could, making me wait in the dark, and cancelling later. Not only did I leave work early, but then approximately one additional hour of my time was wasted by Walmart. Another downside to this particular Walmart location is that they do not participate in 1-800-CONTACTS and do not allow you to order directly through them as other Walmarts do. The price of their eye exam is certainly not low enough to account for the lack of professionalism that this location demonstrates. read more

Dear Walmart Vision Center: I used to come to you for your cheap eye exams for contacts since I moved up to this godforsaken Dutchess County from Westchester. My eye glasses were crushed and destroyed and I had ONE back-up contact and, being a -450, I am practically blind. I cannot function without my contacts. I can't work, drive, or perform daily functions without them. You didn't even assisting me by offering a trial pair of contacts, which are practically given to you by the manufacturers. Reason cited: "It's against our manager's policy". SCREW YOUR POLICY, YOU'RE TOTALLY UNETHICAL. By virtue of being a doctor (yes even an optometrist) you have a duty to help the helpless. How disgraceful of you. It was 1800 Contacts who came to my rescue. I will NEVER go back to you and will actually work to let everyone know what poor judgment you exercise as professionals and people. read more

I love this place. I've taken my school age daughter there twice, and each time the optometrist was very sweet and professional. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can't beat the prices, either. Lots of nice frames, including designer frames. read more

I remember last time I went to the Vision center it was a great experience, and dealing with John. This time, not so much. When I asked to get my eyeglasses fixed it seemed to be funny to him and the other girl with the glasses (at my expense) who was going to get stuck fixing them. It made me feel very uncomfortable, and I won't be back again. Maybe John was nicer last time because he was selling me eyeglasses, which I didn't require this time. I don't like phony people. The optometrist was extremely nice, but the rest of the crew were pretentious. One girl Sarah working there, was actually PAINTING HER FINGERNAILS when I walked by (looked like they were yellow-I asked her if she broke a nail). The professionalism from judging people, to yes, an employee painting their fingernails on the job has declined quite a bit from a few years ago. read more

Normally, I don't have much good to say about WalMart. But I have to give credit where credit is due. I had an exam for contacts and had a very good experience. I saw Dr. Carpenter, who was very friendly and very competent. I would recommend seeing her for an exam and contacts based on my experience. Also, my wait wasn't long at all. One other thing, the exam here is less expensive than at Costco, go figure. read more

Yelp removed my 5 Star review for Wamart Vision Center as "not recommended" - Why? I do not write reviews ordinarily (is that why, it was my first Yelp review?). I wrote one for Walmart Vision Center because the two 1 star reviews were unfair, in my opinion. My family has had excellent service from the VC and prices are affordable. Do not remove this review, Yelp. Pretty shameful that you took down my first one. read more
