I had an appointment with Dr. Rothbloom about two years ago. Initially he seemed pleasant, but over…read morethe course of the visit his manner felt condescending and dismissive. I did not feel listened to or respected, and the overall experience was uncomfortable. During the visit, he suggested bifocal contact lenses. I declined. He then told me that the contact lens prescription he arrived at was "the best he could do" because my eyes were "in between." The contacts were uncomfortable, and I struggled to see clearly both near and far. I remained in that prescription for about a year and a half, assuming the issue was my eyes rather than the fit. Recently, I saw my longtime optometrist, who reviewed that prescription and told me it was not an appropriate fit from the start. He restarted the exam from scratch and fitted me with a completely different type of contact lens. The improvement in comfort and vision was immediate. He also explained that bifocal contacts should not have been suggested to me based on my age and what he observed during the exam, as they were unnecessary. This was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with an optometrist, and I'm relieved to be back with a provider I trust now that I've moved. I'm sharing this so others feel empowered to seek a second opinion if something doesn't feel right.

I'm updating my review -…read more A few years back, I brought my niece here to get her very first set of contact lenses. Due to a death in a family, she was not able to make her follow up appointment (she moved back to Louisiana) and this place gave her / us a REALLY hard time about getting a paper Rx for her glasses and contacts even though I paid for at time of visit. It was beyond bizarre. I forgot to write that update because I was busy dealing with funeral arrangements and the aftermath. Recently - I decided it was PAST time to get my annual eye exam ...having missed the last 3 years :-( I checked with My Eye Lab / My EyeLab, Marietta Eye Clinic and Walmart Vision Centers. Check my review for My EyeLab's EW Connector location (awful). As of the writing of the review - $80 for eyeglasses exam $45 additional for contact lenses exam Dr. Aaron Rahn is the only optometrist onsite and he's there 2 - 3 days per week. By the way, I saw some Google reviews where people gave 1 star reviews because the doctor is only there one day a week. I asked about this and it turns out he's not laying home eating bonbons or chilling on the beach when he's not there (like the detractors speculated - lol), he works at other locations when he's not there. My visit was great. Dr. Rahn was EXTREMELY thorough and gave me, hands down, the best, most thorough explanation I'd ever heard with regard to how to understand my eyeglass Rx. The only thing I forgot to ask was what OD and OS mean. I Googled it: Oculus dexter (O.D.) translates to "right eye," while oculus sinister (O.S.) means "left eye." There was little to no wait time and the support staff was fairly friendly. Their selection of eyeglass frame is pretty much what one could expect based on the store size and they had some of the trendy options like Ray Ban, Coach, Sean John, etc. I already have frames that I love (they have glare reduction / blue-light blocking / darken in sun), so if I decide to go with glasses, I would probably only get my lens here and have them put them into my existing frames. If I had to mention anything that might need some tweaking - No one introduced themselves. I found out, by asking, that the young lady at check-in's name was Andrea. I had to ask the name of the doctor, after we'd already been speaking for a few minutes. I had to ask the name of the sales associate that helped me (Kulvir). I think this is just a social norm that seems to be falling to the wayside, but I like to write reviews, so I always want to know the names of the folks I'm talking to. Plus - I like to be able to address people by their names because it seems like the polite thing to do. Overall - I would recommend this place. It didn't put too big of dent in my wallet. The visit was quick and painless and the doctor was phenomenal. Because of my somewhat unique Rx, I have to go back in 7 days for a follow-up (no additional cost), so if anything changes, I'll update my review accordingly.

This business is a joke, if I could rate this a negative 100 I would. I would not even take my…read moreanimals here if they wore glasses or contacts. To start, I was a new customer initially coming in to get an eye exam for new contacts. After, waiting for more than hour, one of the young ladies took my eye pressure where she continuously missed my actual eye, finally she got it right. After seeing the doctor, he wanted me to wait 2 weeks to get my prescription for contacts which I had already paid for. The doctor never explained to me what was going on with my eyes and that I needed to come out of contacts and why. I guess I asked too many questions so, they pushed me off to the so-called manager her name could be Sonya, I'm not sure but, I was not impressed. She preceded to tell me that my eyes are red, and the pressure seems to be high, and the doctor wants my eyes to rest a little. Granted, my eyes may have been somewhat irritated but, I didn't need to know that you have been knowing the doctor for a long time and that your families hang out together. Seriously, ratchet and unprofessional as hell. As a matter of fact, the entire office is a sitcom show with the exception of the Black Lady with short hair and Mr. George. Long story short, I ended up waiting more than 4 weeks before I was able to see the doctor again for contacts and it took the trials lenses more than a month to come in. I reluctantly ordered glasses from this place which was a huge disappointment, and I still was unable to see the doctor for contacts because the original trails I had on that I had been wearing needed to be in my eyes 2 hours before my appointment with the doctor. The funny thing is that the doctor allows the office staff to make decisions concerning your eyes and also decide who will see him and who won't. There is clearly some discrimination going on here and they all the staff with the exception of a few seem to be under some type of influence. Please don't waste your time going here, it is NOT worth your time. The doctor is never there, I am not sure if he is taking drink breaks or what but, the women at the front desk and the office manager cover for him. They are all in cahoots together. Please, please don't waste your money patronizing this business. This place needs a complete revamp with a new professional, knowledgeable staff and a new doctor, not someone that seems under the influence and is always late or doesn't show up at all. I am very near sighted and my prescription for glasses and the contacts still is incorrect and I would like a full refund for the glasses. I still cannot see and will now have to go to a reputable, professional office to get re-examined for new contacts and glasses. Since, I have already visited this America's best in Smyrna more than 20 times and still no correct prescription, I would like to be contacted by corporate and would like a full refund for the glasses I received since I can't see out of them anyway.
