I had an appointment with Dr. Rothbloom about two years ago. Initially he seemed pleasant, but over the course of the visit his manner felt condescending and dismissive. I did not feel listened to or respected, and the overall experience was uncomfortable. During the visit, he suggested bifocal contact lenses. I declined. He then told me that the contact lens prescription he arrived at was "the best he could do" because my eyes were "in between." The contacts were uncomfortable, and I struggled to see clearly both near and far. I remained in that prescription for about a year and a half, assuming the issue was my eyes rather than the fit. Recently, I saw my longtime optometrist, who reviewed that prescription and told me it was not an appropriate fit from the start. He restarted the exam from scratch and fitted me with a completely different type of contact lens. The improvement in comfort and vision was immediate. He also explained that bifocal contacts should not have been suggested to me based on my age and what he observed during the exam, as they were unnecessary. This was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with an optometrist, and I'm relieved to be back with a provider I trust now that I've moved. I'm sharing this so others feel empowered to seek a second opinion if something doesn't feel right. read more

Excellence from start to finish. I recently moved to the area. I was able to schedule a next day appointment, did not experience the usual long wait time after checking in, and every staff member was knowledgeable and genuinely courteous. I witnessed employees willingly assisting each other. They all seem happy and as if they enjoy working there(HUGE)! Dr. Rothbloom exceeded my expectations. He has a calming demeanor. He's professional yet personable. I'm not sure thorough is a strong enough word to describe his exam and fitting. He explained EVERYTHING, answered my questions and addressed concerns. He identified evidence of retinal detachment that I was not aware of. I opted to pay $39 for the digital retina exam as opposed to dilation and I'm glad I did. As a medical professional, I'm perhaps slightly more critical in regards to the proverbial bedside manner. Dr. Rothbloom and staff went above and beyond. Highly recommended. read more

Had my semi annual eye exam yesterday. I have no complaints. Sometimes there is a slight wait because there are emergencies involved. Look at it this way, if you are having an actual vision emergency wouldn't you like to be taken to the front of the line even if it means someone else might be inconvenienced for 10-15 minutes? Dr Rothbloom has the 'heart of a teacher' and will explain the Opti Map images to you (if you get one) and he takes extra time to do so even though he has to repeat the exact same thing 100s of times a month to each individual patient. I'm one of those people who is always on the lookout for an unnecessary up charge and I was very pleased with my service and exam. read more

Five stars for: flexible scheduling, email reminders, and a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Before I saw the doctor, one of the staff members took me aside and explained to me, in detail, what my eye insurance benefits are---thank God! I saw Dr. Sandra Duckworth, and I highly recommend her. She made me feel very comfortable and did a fantastic job of explaining what she was doing when she was doing it. I didn't wander over into the eye glass section, so I can't comment on the selection, but I know I won't be searching for a new eye doctor anytime soon. read more

The first thing that drew me in was the ease of setting the appointment- everything was online and there was no need for me to call in- VIRTUAL HIGH FIVE FOR THAT! Then the office was nice... clean.. modern- the office staff was pleasant- there was a bit of confusion with me using my medical insurance (since I don't have a rider policy -no VSP, Eyemed etc), but they rectified it and all was well! My pre-tester (I believe her name was Maria.. I think) she was SO sweet and pleasant- I was TERRIFIED of the puff of air test... but it was painless and she did NOT laugh at me as I squealed with agony at the thought of it happening (it was fine... I called first, asking about color contacts. I already had a prescription with them, for both contacts and glasses. They said I just had to come in and it would just be a quick test for them. I mentioned I only needed one pair for a costume, and purple. Turns out I actually needed an appointment! Fine. Make an appointment for 8:45, so I can at least just barely get to work on time after. 30 minutes later I'm finally seen (while walk-ins are seen before me). 30 minutes just to put samples in my eyes to see if I liked the color. Fine, the violet were alright. 50 dollars?! I have to buy a box of six?! (Noted, at my previous eye doctor I could buy a single pair of color contacts, but they're further away. Guess where I'm probably going from now on). It took multiple days and waiting for 30 minutes after my appointment time to get to this point. It only took two minutes to determine the barely-noticeable purple contacts would work I guess, but I had to buy them in bulk. For a costume. Going to EyeClectic from now on. They're further away, but at least they can stick to an appointment. read more

After my eye exam was done, when i was looking at the frames / Sunglasses, I noticed that Oakley Sunglasses section was having a note of "not Covered Under Insurance", even when asked for the same thing, employee confirmed Oakley is not covered under VSP Insurance. This is something not true because last year I got Oakley frames from some other office with VSP insurance only, also I checked once again VSP customer care also confirmed that Oakley brand is covered by VSP & if any office is not making it available to customers then that is not correct. read more

Every facet of my visit - from my Patient Coordinator, to my Clinical Technician, to my Optician and Insurance Coordinator - everyone involved with my visit was, well, really involved with my visit. I was informed every step along the way. Whenever I had to wait, someone always made sure I understood both the reason and the process. They have an extensive frame collection, but when I expressed a preference for my current frames they complied with my wishes without a sales pitch.
