We went for one item here at what is the tidiest WalMart I have ever been to, for B: watches. We wanted one watch, a Cassio. It took a bit of time to get help. Some workers kept walking through us when we flagged them for help, or tried. I counted and it was 8. The 9th person didn't ignore us or talk at us that they wouldn't help us. The watches are behind a glass case at Fine Jewelry and only select employees are allowed to handle those keys. Then they put the watch in a plastic protective case to carry to the cash registers up front. I wasn't affronted until I went to the ladies' restroom and everything smelled like evil poop. Wah. Got the watch, though. The employees didn't have the holiday cheer although some of them were working hard with antlers on. Smiles that are genuine can really go a long way. I love that WalMart helps veterans get jobs and want to be the first major corporate fleet in the US who drive their large trucks on clean ethanol. But please help your customers have a merry Christmas. read more

Terrible place to visit! The lady was rude, who stood over us as we scanned. Then stopped us in the middle of scanning to say we forgot to scan an item. I said are you sure, because everyone could see how she was standing over us. So she check again and was wrong, no apology. Instead tells us we have more then 20 items, next time go through the regular checkout. Rude as the customers behind looked at her stunned... I've been in sales for more than 40 years in the grocery industry. I have never seen a more poorly managed store. The associates have a poor demeanor and attitude. The shelves are often bare, with high out of stocks. What I find absolutely non-sensical is that liquid, bar soap and cosmetics are under lock and key, yet smaller pharmaceutical higher ring SKUs are not! Then you have to wait for an associate to give you a large transparent box which they lock and then unlock at the register. Maybe they wouldn't need this if their lazy security guards,(and there are many), did their job rather than stand at the end of the isles looking either bored or like their dog just died. I literally have had enough of this Walmart location. I work right next door to this Walmart, I am a Director running a multimillionaire company and I often stop by here to get last minute things I need. I also write out payroll checks to my employees that can only be cashed at Walmart. I've had multiple employees come to this location and tell me the workers there at the customer service deny cashing the checks because it's a policy that Walmart doesn't cash those type of checks. Eve though I explain it's not a personal check, it's a payroll check. I have since then ended my contract with Walmart. Workers are super rude and think they own Walmart and make up policies as they go. Today I have an all staff meeting and needed to buy some prizes and gift cards and they have this absurd policy where gift cards can only be bought at the service desk and not at registers. Fine, I played nice and went to the desk and waited 30 minutes and as I approach the desk I am greeted by this worker named " Andrew " who looks like he doesn't want to be there and looks honestly homeless. I proceeded to tell him I need gift cards and as I am getting ready to pay, I insert my card and he asks me if the card is debit or credit and I let him know and he acts like the computer/ system is rejecting the card. Even after I enter my pin #. He had me do that a couple times and on his end he has to press a Damnn button in order to proceed. And he acts like it's rejecting the transaction when in reality he doesn't want to sell me the gift cards because it's a credit card. Even after he had me enter my pin # multiple times. Satisfactory customer experience but associate Andrew can benefit from some necessary and serious training. I was attempting to return an unused car battery. When I purchased the battery I was assessed with a $12.00 core charge. Hence, returning battery I need to be made whole including the $12.00 core charge per the transaction would now be null and void soooooooooo there is no reason to charge me a core charge. Andrew only wanted to refund the cost of the battery and made up some BS that the $12.00 core goes to the state. I will speak with store manager Mark tomorrow to facilitate an accurate refund and to ensure that Andrew and Fitzgerald (battery specialist, he had no clue either) gets the proper training as it relates to core charge refunds. ***was later informed by manager via phone to bring batter back for full refund but currently at the customer svc counter being hassled by manager Christina***changed star rating from 3 to a 1*** read more

I have gone to the customer service of this location for financial services and, from the experiences I have had so far, the employees are friendly and patient throughout the transaction. The process has usually been quick and even though there may need to be some more support in this part of the store, the area seemed tidy and fitting. This Walmart location is located in the heart of the Los Angeles area. There is a lot of inner city trouble that happens at this location. The parking lot is not always the safest place for families to be, especially at night. It's not that there's anything extra bad that goes on here. It just does not feel very safe. At least it does not for myself and my family. There are way too many transients walking around the parking lot and I feel they should do something about that with the security. But I never really see security in the area. And when there is I never really see them doing their job. The staff at the location seems like they do not care either. I understand it is not their job to police the parking lot, it is their job to help the customers inside the store, but at least they can contact upper management and inform them of the issue. Multiple people have brought this to their attention and it seems like they do not care. And for that reason they are getting this review. Again, this is definitely not the worst Walmart I have ever been to. The store is actually relatively clean on the inside. But the parking lot not being safe is a big issue for me. Extremely rude customer service experience at the self check out lanes. Wasted 15 minutes or so trying to buy literally one single item. We were then approached by a customer service representative, stating that we had to wait in line before purchasing our item. (he assumed that we simply just walked up for the scan and go function). After explaining that we had waited in line, he continuously interrupted us. Do you mean to tell me that you were standing there the whole time and you failed to see us waiting in line? 0 out of five stars if possible. This review is not about this local store or the staff there. It's about the poor quality of a 'Great Value' product that all Walmart stores sell. During the COVID-19 pandemic when folks were 'panic buying' and stocking up, because of supply chain shortages of common household items like 'toilet paper', I bought a pkg. of Great Value, 16 ct., Bathroom Tissue, 1,000 sheets/roll, 1-ply, just in case for emergencies. I stored it away for future use, since I prefer and use 'Charmin Ultra-Strong' or 'Kirkland' brand' t.p. Well, I recently opened the pkg. and was really dismayed and disappointed in the quality of Walmart's t.p. The texture of their bathroom tissue paper is identical to 'tissue paper' used to wrap presents & gifts, which makes it unsuitable for its intended purpose. Needless to say, it's not only uncomfortable to wipe with, but any moisture on it will cause it to dissolve on your fingers. Yucky Mess! On their pkg. says, "Great Quality. Great Price. Guaranteed." "If for any reason you aren't happy, we'll replace it or return your money. All you need is the package." I went online to 'walmart.com/greatvalue', but this was a waste of time. Prices are quite competitive, but the store is a bit messy and the shelves aren't well stocked. I came here to get all the Thanksgiving items that was part of Ibotta's free Thanksgiving deal, and they only had 2 of the 6 items in stock. I got a 2 liter bottle of Coke Zero and put it into a bag slung over my shoulder as I shopped around the store. Partway through my shopping trip, I feel some wetness on my leg--the bottle was leaking! It got all over the other items in my bag, so that was a bit annoying. Everyone was masked and it wasn't too crowded because I got here right when they opened. It seems like they're doing the best they can with regards to safety though I don't dare try to come around busier times. I normally steer clear of Walmart as they tend to get extremely busy (by no fault of their own) but I needed to make a return. They scanned my items and processed the returns. The lady at customer service only glared at me a little bit, so I would say she had about 1/3 the usual level of death glare you get when you ask for help and about 1/4 the attitude. I encountered no resistance, no one immediately trying to refuse the return so overall I would say the experience was as good as Walmart can get. Just for my curbside experience: I got there to curbside little after 7:12 there wasn't anyone in the curbside so I thought great in and out. I was so wrong I got an alert saying my cancel request had been processed at 7:42. What request I didn't cancel anything so I got out of the car to find out what was going on and as I was walking to the door a gentleman came out with a cart and my other items and I asked if those were my order and he gave me those. When asked about the cancellation he told me it was for an item that was out of stock. Which was puzzling coz when I was alerted to my order being ready all items were confirmed for pick up. Check the COVID return policy before going to the store otherwise you might end up wasting your time. The return policy is clearly stated yet employees decide what is returnable and not. I have a picture of the return policy. I needed to return some items I understand that they aren't accepting apparel but when I needed to return some baby bottles (new in the package) they said no baby items and pointed to the sign but the sign DOES NOT say no baby items. I also tried to return some nursing pads and they said NO BABY ITEMS and I said well it's for an adult not a baby, and sign doesn't say no baby items. I asked them what category it would fall under and they continued to say NO BABY items. Yes, by they I mean 3 return desk employees saying it loudly to me, when I was asking for an explanation as to what category it falls under on the sign. Not the friendliest staff ever every time I go to this location, but still better than the other Torrance Walmart on Normandie. I do want to give props to Kimmie working at the front end though for helping me with problems I had with a gift card and being extremely kind about it the entire time while also trying to run the front end and let other employees know what to do also. Even though she was multitasking she remained calm and never made me feel like a burden for trying to get help with a gift card either, apologized for the error with the card and actually told me to have a nice day unlike every other walmart employee would ever do. Honestly, I'm tired of how Walmart makes low income people feel like crooks always with security at the doors having to mark your receipt. That's one thing Michigan never did so it's a weird change in policy just because we moved over here! That's one thing the rich will never have to deal with and is it because they deserve it?? Nope. No one deserves to be treated like a criminal when all they want is groceries for their family! Walmart be better! We're not all crooks or theives. Anyway I wish that was the worse of my experience but that's pretty much everywhere. What marks this particular store worse than others we have tried apart from the fact, they are definitely wanting in their selections like they don't even have simple stuff like apples and fresh groceries. This experience was even worse than most we had and we have come here a few times. Their customer service is definitely lacking! The last cashier must have really messed up somehow. We use Anthem Mediblue from my Medicare Debit Card for some of our groceries and over the counter products and we swiped our card. This was a simple order just a few groceries, some toilet paper and Napkins! Nothing too fancy so it should have been easy peazy. Definitely NOT! Once I swiped my card to see if it would take anything off, it was declined but still went through in the card. I was a little annoyed to see that it had not been accepted because we had to pay with the little money we had left at the time. I decided we would just get the toilet paper and Napkins at Walgreens because sadly it's so much cheaper and you get more with Walgreens version of toilet paper! It's more worth the price and we saved like $6 doing it that way! Yeah, they're definitely Not the cheapest way to go all the time! We asked the cashier to take a few items off our order and she was like "oh you want me to clear all your items." She had a smug smile on her face when doing it. I was freaked and politely under the circumstances said "please don't do that, please don't do that." I probably had desperation on my face but I really didn't want to have to rescan every item. We decided not to get the cookies either! After all the items were deleted, we paid and left! It can be a little more tricky shopping for my husband and I especially since I use a wheelchair right now so maneuvering can be difficult! So the fact she was so rude to someone in a wheelchair kinda tells you her mentality! That's not even the whole thing. I saw the transaction was pending on my anthem mediblue and just figured it would fall off and go back to my card since the transaction was declined but somehow it cleared through. Meaning they got our money at the register and our anthem mediblue money! I don't know if the cashiers can do that and know what they're doing or what but it just seems weird that it was declined and still they took it! Other Walmarts give the money back when they get declined and I have had this same problem at this location other times and it came back to me so my thoughts is it was this particular cashier. They still have to accept it and when they don't it usually gets sent back! First time it didn't and now I have to do the leg work and call anthem! Luckily, I do have the receipt! My husband and I have just decided we won't go to this particular Walmart anymore! Their prices are not always cheap, they really don't have much staff to help and the cashiers we have dealt with mostly this one time I must say was not very polite and in fact, was quite rude and this is Me being polite! And taking money from someone on a medical program is just wrong. I deserve to have it back! And yes I have proof because in California if nothing else, I have learned without proof, you're tough out of luck!! Smaller, clean but busy Walmart on Hawthorne Blvd in Central Torrance by Del Amo mall area. This store was much preferred than the one on Normandíe in the Gateway because all the basics weren't locked up at this one. You could peruse the merchandise and pick what you wanted. I encountered such a friendly cashier. He has such a great attitude. He said " They ( Walmart ) are making money and I ( him) am making money so it's all good. " He was smiling and friendly and fast too. Definitely a keeper employee for this store. They had what I came for and some additional items as well read more

This Walmart is kinda well stocked and has great prices. They don't have a lot of help so it helps if you know what you are looking for. The parking lot always has spaces. I come here maybe once every 2 or 3 months to stock up on staples. The prices are about half of what they are at CVS. The checkout lines are long but move fairly fast. There is an inhouse pharmacy with low prices. Much lower than CVS or Walgreen's or RiteAid. read more

I was very disappointed with their cash register lady's service. On Sept 15, at 3pm, Cash Register #6 - at first, a lady with short hair charged me for the merchandise more than the price shown on the rack. the difference was $3 over for each items. I went back to the rack and took photos, (and spoke with Jose, I believe he is their supervisor, who instructed me to show the cash register a photo and she will proceed accordingly.) Later I was at the other cash register and showing the photos, and the short hair lady from register #6 jump to the cash register I was at and told me that "IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT THE PHOTOS SHOWS". and while I was showing the photos on the phone, she grabbed my phone rudely and pulled the string (I have cross body Phone cover that it was attached to my body), and almost felt like she was choking me. by Law, she should not touch the customer's phone without the permission. When I asked her I'd like to speak with the Manager, then she agreed with the price. I would like the manager to know about this incident. In my opinion, if the SKU number shows the different amount, then the cash register should have asked the manager before she handled me with the very RUDE attitude. Thank you for your consideration. So... its a walmart. Expect... walmart. Cheap prices, screaming kids, unmotivated workers. Get in, get out... as fast as you can! Speaking of which, it will likely not be too fast due to the slowness of the cashiers, and if God forbid you need assistance with anything like opening a locked cabinet, tack on another 30 minutes to wait for someone to help you. I seriously dread going here. I still come cause they do have the cheapest prices, but I only come for certain items like automotive stuff or sporting goods. All the assist buttons don't work or gets ignored. The happiest worker is likely the greeter when you first walk in... sometimes. After that, everyone is on their own program and just checking the clock for their shift to end. Oh, and there always seems to be someone asking for money outside. So... shop at your own risk, make sure to sanitize your hands afterwards, and don't hold your breath for assistance.
