There are several reasons I enjoy traveling up and down the Delmarva Peninsula when driving between…read moreRaleigh and New Jersey. One of them is the opportunity to stop at one of the last remaining original Stuckey's locations still in operation. I have stopped here several times. On this visit, I was returning home from the wedding of a younger colleague in Central New Jersey. The store is located on US 13, about an hour north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. This part of US 13 is a peaceful and historic drive in either direction through Virginia's Eastern Shore. My first order of business was to park and head for the restrooms. Parking is available on either side of the nostalgic Stuckey's building, with the gas pumps directly in front. The restrooms were clean and very well maintained. Inside, there are aisles and aisles of souvenirs and great snacks--including the famous Stuckey's pecan log rolls--as well as the Southern Grille. I purchased several pecan log rolls and a bunch of souvenirs. The woman at the cash register was very helpful and carefully packed everything for my trip home. Stopping here is like stepping back into the golden age of the American road trip. One of these times, I am finally going to order something from the Southern Grille!

When I looked at the receipt after buying many items, there was a price discrepancy. I immediately said I had seen a different price. They have a stack of tags piled up, looked through and pulled one from the stack to show me. I said it didn't look right and just wanted to return it right after they charged me. They said they wouldn't refund it and gave some BS about the vendor getting immediate notification that I had purchased from them and couldn't refund it. It's not like I came back the next day or an hour later. I had an issue with the price they charged compared to what I had seen. In my experience, it was just bad business. I will not be returning and I will not be recommending to my clients.
