Very nice, large Walmart supercenter. The parking is big enough that I have never had any issue finding a place to park. The produce section is not as big as other Supercenters, but it still has the basics. I went in to get some snacks and their selection was good and well priced. In the tiny town of Exeter RI there is no grocery store, so when visiting I have to cross over into North Kingston and chose to come to this Walmart. What can you say about this store? It's huge, prices are quite a bit less than the local grocery store, and you can buy yarn along with your avacados!! Store was very busy, clean and I was in and out in no time. I went to this Walmart yesterday to return something and all 3 of the women working at the customer service desk were rude and unprofessional. I was next in line. The person in front of me had just finished up and walked away and none of the unoccupied people even looked at me or greeted me for a few awkward minutes. It was bizarre. Finally someone called me over, determined that my item had been purchased online so couldn't be returned--which I was okay with. It had been a gift that was defective. I was like "Bummer, would you be able to throw this away for me?" She then said "I can't throw it away for you. You can throw it away yourself. The trash can is over there." It was an instance of not what you say, but the tone in which you are saying it. The store was clean and organized and the cashier who checked out my new items was friendly. read more

Definitely one of the nicer Walmart's I've been too - but what was up with their lack of inventory?!?! It was only the 3rd of the month but the shelves were so bare you would think it was the start of a pandemic. I actually came in to get cheap fishing poles & although there were two aisles of fishing poles and gear it was so picked over- there may have been a total of 8 poles left and 3 of which were BROKEN! I also was clueless when it came to: lures, bait, bobbers, etc. but there was no sales associate anywhere in sight. I looked up and down the aisles for a good 10 minutes and still couldn't find anyone so I gave up! The produce and veggies were not very appetizing to say the least! The restrooms were disgusting as well! We went to the self check out and were asked to open the cooler we were purchasing. It was uncalled for and uncomfortable - if she needed to look she should have asked while we were walking out or something. Felt judged in that moment. I overall felt like the prices were a little better then the one near my house and they had a lot better merchandise and variety. I would come back but they need to clean things up a bit! read more

Allison (front end key holder) charged me a core fee on a defective auto battery. I paid the core fee 3 month ago when I purchased the battery from Wal-Mart. I should not be forced to pay the core fee again especially considering I brought the defective back with me this evening. Would somebody please educate Allison on core fees so that she can stop doubling and tripling up on core fees from unsuspecting customer. This is a class action lawsuit in the makings. You simply cannot charge a customer an additional core fee on a defective product that you sold them, ESPECIALLY when they're RETURNING THE CORE. Its truly unbelievable that Walmart has left somebody so inept in charge of other people's money. Andrew (the teller assisting me) understood that Allison was wrong and the circumstances and apologized however Allison refused to take away the illegal core fee. read more

I hate this place with a passion, but out of all the Walmart's in this state I will have to say this one would be my favorite. They have everything you need from, households, pet care, pharmaceuticals, garden, food, clothes, etc. they are always stocked. The downfall: THE MASS OF PEOPLE, the parking, and the cheap paper bags. Bring your own bags!! O and the woman who works at checkout of the garden section. This is one of the nicer Walmart stores in Rhode Island, but, I had a bizarre experience there Sunday. I bought some food items, and some cleaning products, and when I went to use the self-checkout, I noticed there were no bags. Then, an elderly male employee walked up to me, handed me a paper grocery bag, and said, "This is all you get." Huh?! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? (Those of you with a military background will know what I mean. If not, just go with the acronym.) Now, part of the wrath of this two-star review is directed at the North Kingstown Town Council, which recently passed a law banning stores from using plastic bags. It's highly annoying when you get a huge, paper grocery bag, especially for a small item. (Plus, plastic grocery bags are quite useful for picking up dog poop.) I suppose the town fathers are just trying to save the environment, be "green," or maybe it's just another case of PC virtue signaling. Anyway, back to my dilemma. I don't want to put cleaning products in with my food products, but I only have one bag. I tried to get the elder employee's attention, to see if I could get one more bag (do I have to ask in a Tiny Tim voice, "Please, Sir, may I have another?"), but I had difficulty getting his attention. Then he mumbled something I couldn't understand. When I tried again to get an intelligible answer from this man, he said something like, "the store runs out of bags." Oh, I get it, they must be strictly rationing them. Whatever. I had to just put my cleaning products loose in the cart, and hope that the cardboard container of my Comet cleanser with bleach did not disintegrate in the rain. Insanity, I tells ya. read more

Nice store, but I stopped going there because of the annoying paper bags. They are guaranteed to RIP and take forever to bring in. I don't see the logic of this seeing that everything I just bought was packaged in plastic. So now we cut down trees to make useless bags that just get thrown away. This has to be one of the worst Walmart's in the state. It's always dirty, and the staff are often grumpy and unfriendly. Even the managers seem incompetent. I applied for a community grant for a 501c3 I am a part of it through the store. According to the website, a response is suppose to happen within 3 months. 10 months later, I have yet to receive one. I've called the store multiple times to inquire, and am told that either: -the person in charge of that isn't here -she's too busy to take my call, leave your info and she will call back (3+ times, never a call back) -or when I finally get a hold of her, she can't tell me anything because the manager either isn't there, was on vacation the week before (what about all the other weeks), or some other mistruth. For a company that prides itself on its community work, somebody is asleep at the wheel here. Heck, at least tell me 'no' don't just ignore it. read more

So disappointing!!! One regular register with an actual person (not self-serve)running with a line of people with huge orders. The only thing open is the self-checkout. Two employees there running the area. I am the only person there could someone please open a register? The self-checkouts are awful no room to put your merchandise the area is so small. My poor plant took a beating. Things ring up wrong or trigger the ask for help and the register freezes until an employee fixes it!!! Then tells you to use the handheld scanner so it will be easier with certain items: ie. plants. I used to love NK Walmart. I am done will not shop there again. I came into here last Sunday picking up groceries for my daughter.. I was having trouble due to just having back surgery, when your cart-pusher Anthony offered to help put them in my car for me. There was about 40 bags with 3 cases of water and he did it with no complaints! I shop here. I admit it. But I don't like it. I like the prices, and I am not yet rolling in cash so I prefer the money stay in my pocket rather than Stop and Shop or some other spot I would shop. The people that work here are nice and helpful. There are very few of them around to help you. Never buy clothes here. They are cheap, the fabric is low quality and I just have not had good luck. Is it fair to give this store few stars because of their labor policies? I don't know but I am. Walmart's war against Unionization is shameful. What is good about this store? UGH. Welcome to Hell. I'll say... The 'realization' that this place is, indeed, HELL came to me today while I was standing in the highlighter isle (aisle! Dammit... Wish I was High, lighting [up] on an isle ... Arg anyways) I was in the highlighter isle trying to decide between a multi pack of colored highlighters and sharpie brand is like $6(!) for a 4pack WHATEVER and I notice the colors in that pack perfectly match the colors of the sticky page note thingys I picked up in the other isle of Hell. I mean aisle. Fahck! Ok. So then I'm all, well I guess I gotta get the most expensive pack of highlighters and let me try and console myself by contemplating the benefits of spending more on such a trustworthy brand. Like Sharpie. Plus, I can color coordinate my highlights with the themes (I have yet to create) I dedicate for each sticky page marker. The idea is to get a book going, you see, and in order to do that I must go through 8 notebooks of notes. This memoirs gonna be tough but when it comes out it'll be good: Promise. A funky take on grammatical errors. And a stunning disregard for syntax structure (I don't even know what syntax is!!! Syntax). Did you know that the more you write 'syntax' the weirder it looks? Kinda like that game you play with sounds, saying a word over and over and over again until....so weird - it ceases to have MEANING. That is the almighty power of sound. So profound. Hey, rhyme time! Whoa. Back to the 'review' -- Umm yeah a woman shared the aisle with me and was on the phone sobbing "Don't leave don't leave me please don't hang up" thing is - she didn't even LOOK that white trash. You know? Sometimes we douchebag lazy vaguely rich hipsters comfort ourselves by assuming this type of emotional outburst is only possible if like, you comprise the cast of Teen Mom. Anyways I made a game today saying "15" minutes to myself - knowing it would be a MIRACLE if I were to make it out of this endless morass of smelly overpriced plastic junk. YES, OVERPRICED - and that's not cuz my income has been half... It's a nod to that conspiracy theory stating that walmart starts off low, drives out the local shops business, then ups their prices accordingly. It's totally true! They do that! Josh even said on the phone: "WHY are you at WALMART" I stammered something about needing "miscellaneous goods" like cotton balls, lotion, highlighters and maybe a printer (ya know - 'to get my life in order') and so thus had NO CHOICE but to drag myself under the neon lights and overbearing industrial strength cobalt blue that so ubiquitously colors my perception of "the brand experience" in-store. I use the online grocery pick up service for the first time and it was a horrible experience. They told me to be there at a certain time, they said I didn't have an order when I got there which I did, and three of the workers came right up to my car window, no masks, and I had to tell them to move back six feet. 5 of my items were not in my order even though I requested substitutes. I've been doing the grocery pick up since March. It used to be great. The department itself has some very nice people but the online app has made it nearly impossible for me to get my order through. I keep getting error messages that say to try again later. Well, that makes me lose my time slot and I have to find a new one; put the order through and at checkout the same error keeps happening. At the now rare times I can get the order through, it says I have until 1:45am the day of pickup to make changes. That has been impossible too; no changes go through so I have to cancel that order and start all over again, finding a new time slot, starting the order over, and trying to checkout successfully. This can become a full time job, just trying to get a correct order. I am at my wit's end! read more

New, clean store. Cashier named 'Sky' is easily their best asset. She asks if you'd like "Singing, silence, fun facts, riddles or jokes". Her memory is phenomenal and in 2 short minutes, she offered 8 or 9 riddles, to my amusement. I watched her interact with the 2 customer groups in front of me, myself and the lady behind me. All 4 sets of customers were smiling, engaging and happy, a RARE feat in the world that is Walmart. Good for her for enjoying her retail job and making the best of the holiday constant rush of customers. read more

Stopped there today on a Saturday at 3:15 in the middle of the afternoon and was told by the woman at the counter that the deli was closed so she could restock the case! LOW PRICES.....HIGH HASSLE I just went food shopping at walmart. It was the worst idea and I will never go back at all even if we were facing nuclear holocaust. I spent 20 minutes shopping for my monthly veggies and odds and ends totaling to 145 dollars. I used the self check out, and then spent a whole hour standing infront of the store with a tall guy maybe 40-50 in a blue button up shirt and black slacks and a woman who looked like another customer in red sweater vest black spikey short hair auditing everything I just bought after being told by the woman she saw me not scan items but just bagged them, she even said, "I even rolled back the footage and watched you." The guy who I assume is some manager even agreed with her. So 30 minutes later they both said well sometimes the machine doesn't register what you scanned and bagged.....fast forward another 30 minutes, they have looked through everything and found I had paid for everything and had the recipt. They told me then that the woman who over saw the self check out was nervous because I was scanning and bagging item too fast and thought I might be stealing...WTF how can you go from the chick saying she saw me steal, to the machine might of made a mistake to, blaming the nice woman who came over to help me twice because the machine didn't register that I didn't want to bag my rutabegas or my 2 pizzas was nervous that I was stealing. I have been to the store several times in the last month, never had a problem until loss prevention decided that your a thief until proven innocent. Meanwhile my mother who is a diabetic who's blood sugar was dropping and had to get home to eat something before going to go do her food shopping for the month had to stand there for an hour. Low prices are not worth the high hassle and harassment. Never again will I go to this store. They have lost 3 customers, my mother, my girlfriend who loves walmart (not driving her to go there), and myself. Save yourself the harassment and go to price rite on route 2....The difference in my grocery bill....10 bucks saved at walmart....and an hour of my life and lower back pain from standing there the entire time for my 10 bucks. Ontop of it, didn't even leave the parking lot, complained to the store manager from my mothers cell phone....her take on it....ok have a nice day like this sort of thing is so common place. read more

I just had to go to Walmart to get a the printer nobody could remove the security device of it I was there for over an hour... No one seemed to be in charge it took 10 people to decide to cut it off I had every employee pondering this box... it's just a big empty warehouse of crap. In the past, I would have given this place 2 stars at most, just because there were several rude employees at customer service, that would never even look you in the eye, they had such contempt for the customers. Well, this past year, all that has changed, All the bad apples are gone and they've hired the nicest bunch of people. I used to avoid online pick-ups or any other customer service related transaction since I dreaded dealing with some of their employees. So, I am very relieved at these improvements. Also, they have more organic food options at very low prices, along with an updated look to the store. Lastly, I've heard for years that Walmart underpays their workers and I hope that is no longer the case. A few of them still look very burnt out and I feel badly for that and I hope it's not from being overworked or not getting proper healthcare, etc. When I know for sure, that all the employees are treated well, I will give 5 stars. read more

I believe this happened about a year ago. I stopped at the North Kingston Walmart about an hour before closing, when the night crew stockers were beginning to put out merchandise. I knew it was a long shot, but i asked if they had Hellmann's Mayonnaise with Lime. Luckily, I was informed that one of the quick-witted assistant managers had ordered enough Lime Mayo to fill an entire display! "This is my kind of Walmart", I thought to myself. I noticed how diligently the night crew was working to get their freight out as I casually strolled through the merchandise filled aisles. There was a woman putting out an unimaginable amount of freight. I've worked retail, so I know a top notch employee when I encounter one and, damn, I was impressed. That woman could stock! I heard her say something to another employee like "yeah, that's how you have to stock here. Just plug, no seriously plug, you have to just ****ing PLUG the ****ing s**t out of it!" I don't give a **** Keep plugging those shelves!" She was managing to stock freight on the shelves at lightening speed while simultaneously motivating her fellow employees to keep plugging away and not give up! There was a tall, somewhat young, assistant manager complaining loudly and groaning about having to stock because some employees had been fired or quit recently. I heard him say "****, I wish I could just hang out in the managers office all night, like I usually do! This really sucks!" Meanwhile, an elderly woman was stocking at twice his pace along with several older men. They all had terribly hunched backs from years of heavy lifting. None of them were complaining, but they looked broken inside and out. It was a truly sad sight. I thought about how little these employees are paid and I shivered with disgust. My heart ached and I vowed to never go back. read more

I went into the store today looking for a specific item. I couldn't find it on any of the shelves were the item should've been, but I know better sometimes things end up in illogical places. If I can't find what I'm looking for I always ask. I asked four associates-none of them even knew how to look the item up on the computer.
