Anchor stores include Staples and Shaws grocery which are not accessible from inside the mall area. Entering the mall on the far right you will encounter a wide hall with a few benches, community bulletin boards and public restrooms. Walk to the end and turn left to enter the mall. Restrooms here need help. Ladies room door is stuck open, neither of the two stalls lock or provide privacy (gaps) and the hand dryer struggles. Definitely in need of attention for safety and privacy sake. They are clean. Entering the mall on the far left gives access to the gym and sporting goods store. Turn right to access the rest of the mall. Center entrance takes you by a long chocolatier shop displaying tasty treats for sale. Other shops inside include a book shop, Panera, science store and Paper store. It's a small area overall. Not one you'd stop in to 'walk the mall'. The shops we browsed are clean and well organized. Inside and outside shopping in this area covers a lot of your daily needs.

The Bed Bath and Beyond store is about to close as well (but that is a national bankruptcy issue). Some of the stores that still attract customers to this shopping area are Michael's Bob's Furniture, Jo-Ann Fabrics and the Esporta Fitness Club. The parking lot is huge, so there's never a problem finding parking, but there's only about 5-6 viable open businesses here....in a very large open commercial space. Hope they can attract more stores in the near future.

There are a few interesting food stops, including Lobanton, and even a shop dedicated to H.P. Lovecraft merchandise. I also appreciated the historical photos displayed throughout. A couple of things to note: Parking isn't free - there's a garage across the street and paid street parking nearby. Also, accessibility could be an issue - I didn't notice a wheelchair ramp on one side of the mall (maybe there's one on the other side?). Overall, it's a neat place to explore, especially if you appreciate history and architecture, but it's more of a quick visit rather than a full shopping experience.

I was a senior in high school, and like a lot of teenagers back then, I spent plenty of summer evenings wandering the stores, grabbing something to eat, and just hanging out with friends. It felt like the place to be. Times have changed, retail has changed, and the mall has definitely gone through its ups and downs. Over the years, a lot of stores have come and gone, and there have been periods where security didn't seem as visible as it probably should have been. That said, my recent visits have left me feeling optimistic. It feels like management is making an effort to improve things, and I hope they continue building on that momentum. One thing they've consistently done well is maintaining the property. The common areas are generally clean, the mall is comfortable to walk through, and I really appreciate the free two-hour parking. That's becoming harder to find these days, especially in a downtown setting, and it's a nice incentive to stop in even if you're only planning a quick visit. If I could add one thing to the mall, it would be a specialty food market on the first floor. Something along the lines of a European-style market or an upscale food hall with local vendors would be a great fit and would give people another reason to visit beyond traditional shopping. I think it could really breathe new life into the space. Providence Place may not have the same buzz it had when it first opened, but I still find myself rooting for it. It's an important part of downtown Providence, and I genuinely hope it continues to evolve. I'll definitely keep coming back.
