On a weekly basis, this is where I do the bulk of my grocery shopping. For the most part, this place is fine. In general, I can find anything I need over here, as long as you stay within the realms of western cooking. So, what that entails I can pork loins for a roast. I can find brisket, I can find chuck, I can find...................really thin cuts of ribeye. Like...really really thin. Like, so thin that I could probably cook it medium rare by waving it above my computer case once or twice. Ok, sorry, I digress. If you want to make a ragu sauce, you can find everything that you need here. An alfredo sauce? Yup, that too. Beef stew? Go for it! It also has all the chicken and spices you'd need to make a fried chicken. It does have an international section, but it's..............not impressive. I mean, sure, there's some items, but you can't make a proper anything, tbh. Miso soup? We got half of what you need! Ramen? Uhhh, we got instant. Also have Ramune and Calpis for the weebs. That said, they do have panko if you want to make a katsu. They do have a pretty good produce section. Like, decent selection of fruits that are in season. Plenty of bell peppers, red, orange, yellow, and green. I can usually get jalapenos and habaneros here, although if you're looking for other types of chili peppers, it can be hit or miss. And the habaneros are sometimes still green. No real produce for Asian cooking here (except for shiitake mushrooms), so you won't find anything like burdock root or daikon...maybe bok choy or kabocha every so often. The spice section is pretty nice. Good, wide selection. Most of them are in pretty small containers, though. So if you need anything other than pre-ground cassia (I refuse to call that stuff cinnamon) in a large quantities, you might be out of luck. But...because the spices are in small containers, it's great for sampling. Most of the time when I come here, I like to grab a spice I haven't used before, haven't used in a long time, or haven't learned how to use properly. read more

I absolutely loved this supermarket!!! I've never heard of Shaw's before, and I have to admit that I was a little hesitant about going because the reviews are not that great... which... why? this place is Amazing!! Especially for their weekly sales items, really good deals. We bought this frozen shrimp bag that was on sale, and it has to be some of the best shrimp I've had. We got the 5lb bag of King Arthur flour on sale for 2.99!!! I've never seen it that cheap before. We also got coffee on sale at a great price, their deals are worth the visit for sure. read more

We go to Shaw's every week as we shop for my mother in law. She usually focus on the week's flyer to decide what best to buy. They have the Fab 5 where if you buy 5 of any of the featured items you will get a lower price. As a general rule, their Signature brand is good quality and the unit price is usually cheaper than name brand items. Their digital coupons are also a great deal where you need to clip them on the App, and then get really reduced sale prices. Good clean store. Well lit. read more

Waste of time and money. Their delivery is on time but it's expensive. Shaws doesn't do a great job at inventory so you'll select things that are out of stock unknowingly and Shaws either substitutes them for other things you don't want or doesn't deliver them at all so you have to go out and go shopping anyways. Which defeats the purpose of paying for delivery... plus tipping the driver. $17 for delivery and tip folks. read more

I utilize the online pickup often. There was a digital coupon for buy 2 get 2 free for coke. I bought two but did not automatically get the 2 free ones. I called the store and spoke with a very rude arrogant "manager" named Kevin who stated I should have put 4 for the quantity. Why would any customer leave 2 free 8-packs on the shelf? He said he would have 2 more put in the order but continued to loudly state over and over again (like I couldn't hear) that I should have known to put 4 in the quantity. I explained I was only buying two. He yelled I would have had put 4 in the carriage if I was in the store. Which is exactly my point....Shaw's should have put 4 in the carriage., I've been to Shaws often and I have never been treated so rudely. A nice store if you're not in a hurry This Shaws is conveniently located close to the South County Bike Path so it's a great place to load up on food and liquid before or after a ride. The path is a great place to ride all year long so I get to visit this Shaw's quite a bit. I have to admit that I never do any "real" shopping here, just treats and snacks for the bike ride. Once of the reason I like this store is that it does have a lot of easy to munch items. A pretty good salad bar, a nice bakery with tons of cookies and other sweets to replace all the calories you burn off biking, and a real nice produce department. The produce is exceptional nice, usually fresh looking with a good assortment of fruits and veggies. A great place to grab an apple, orange, banana, a bunch of broccoli or even a nice rutabaga to take with you for the ride. The main criticism I have is that the store is frequently crowded, especially on weekends. I guess I shouldn't hold that against the store but I will anyways because the problem could be a least part alleviated simply by putting on more cashiers. The lines and waits are sometimes just too long, at least for an impatient dolt like myself. The people working here are usually pleasant if not exceptionally friendly but I did have one problem with a young lady at the express lane. It was 12 items or less and she insisted on counting the 6 apples I had in a bag as separate items and that put me over the 12 item limit. I just glared at her and she shut up and rang me up. Having a bad day guess. A nice, clean store with the typical prices you would expect. Good produce and nice location. I just wish they would hire some more damn cashiers. Shaw's is my go to store for almost all my needs. All cashiers are kind and respectful, management is great, the store is always clean and best stocked. I've been able to ask for certain items they only carry in a set amount and they've accommodated with no issues. Every visit is meet with smiles, conversations, laughs and great vibes. The only company I have is about 1 specific employee. She's usually a bagger. Her name is Michelle and she is horrid! I've over heard her being extremely rude to owner employees, customers and I've even been one is her targets. Now I understand that there is a global pandemic. Having A sickly child who can get very ill and end up at Hasbro Children's Hospital from the smallest bug, I am fully conscious of all the measures we must take, but she is on a whole new level of WTF... My friend and I were checking out and she was bagging our items, I was already finished paying and was offering to grab some bags from her as I always do any other time I'm in the store. She ignored me and backed away from me as if I had a giant spider on my arm. Let me point out the I was reaching across the carriage with my arms fully extended, I had just used hand sanitizer, she was wearing gloves and we were both wearing masks. I asked her what was wrong and with the nastiest attitude she said "No, I don't want you touching anything, I'll do this." I explained that I just wanted to hello put the bags in the carriage and she prettiest to yank away the bag I had in my hand and placed it on the belt... Then she backed up a few salsa and said she doesn't want to catch anything. That comment felt like a slap to the face. I should also mention that I'm not Caucasian, so it automatically stings a totally different way. I just laughed and looked at the cashier who looked absolutely miserable. I finished bagging my items because she continued to insult me saying that there is a pandemic, I could have the corona and she doesn't think anyone should be coming to the store. I after I was done I reminded her that she didn't have to work I'd she doesn't feel safe due to the pandemic, and she could collect unemployment and still have her union job when this is over instead of being surrounded by people and making them feel uncomfortable/discriminated against. I reported her to a store manager who was kind, understanding and apologetic. I don't understand how someone like that is allowed to work in customer service and not be fired. Its ridiculous how such horrible people skills are allowed in a store with so many other respectful employees there. I'm still going to continue going to Shaw's but I hope that one day soon she will no longer be there constantly being so unprofessional. read more

Most dysfunctional market I've ever been to. First off, everything is backwards, the signs are not categorized and it's so difficult to find anything..... for instance: cheese, not all cheese products are in one area.... I have to search the entire store to find the exact cheeses I need after 20 min of searching.... second, they are selling expired yogurts.... I shouldn't have to read every single label to make sure it's in date.... I bought 12 yogurts that all expired July 1st when I bought them yesterday...... this company needs to get better at keeping stuff fresh.... I should be able to go and get what I need and not be worried if it's fresh or not..... very upset..... I will never use this market again. I've been shopping at this store for 7ish years. I've Never had anyone try to force me to use the self checkouts! No one has ever tried to force me to do anything in the store and the staff is very helpful, even stopping what they're doing to take me to something I'm looking for. The manager also did this the one time I happened to ask him. I don't understand why the iffy reviews were posted. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that after the revamp of the store, the gluten free/organic products are now together with the same regular products. The management of this location is horrible! They are not customer service friendly and actually provide insufficient staff to meet customers needs! The manager tries to force customers to use the self service aisles to limit staffing! After numerous complaints its probably time to do weekly shopping at Stop & Shop! My Mother shops here all the time. I used to also. This store is probably the best store as far as every thing is considered. They're usually relatively clean. The prices aren't outlandish. The clientele are varied. The employees are okay. The freshness of the food is alright. The organization of the store is acceptable. Compared to other stores it is not as big. The international area is only an aisle. It would terrific if they could stop reorganizing the store. It makes it difficult to find items you are used to finding in a certain place somewhere else. The store is okay. Cheaper than Belmont and cleaner than Stop & Shop it's the place most people shop if they want meat that isn't questionable. read more

I shopped and bought a few items that I thought was on sale. When checking my sales slip, I noticed that I was charged the regular price. I ran back in to the customer service area, and was helped by John. He explained that the item I purchased was the smaller size,and I needed to puchase the larger size. It was actually cheaper to buy the larger size. He refunded the difference without me running to my car, to switch bottles. All and all, it was my error but he worked it out for a great customer service experience. read more

This might seem like a strange review, but please just bear with me. I have been shopping at this location for 10+ years, and today is the very FIRST time I have had to return something. In 10+ years I have been disappointed exactly 1 time. That along deserves nothing but a 5 star review. We purchased a meat item on Sunday, today is Thursday. The item was marked with a sell by date of a fews days from today. This is important information. Immediately upon opening the meat item the smell was so horrible it made me sick to my stomach. I managed to get myself together after a few minutes of fresh air and call the store. They asked for us to THROW AWAY the item, and bring the paper label that had the packaged date and sell by date to the store. Okay? Why would a store ask us to throw away proof of spoiled food without bringing it back for them to check? I was skeptical at first, however, they issued a full refund. Granted, it was 1 package of meat and over 10+ years of buying from them I was SHOCKED at this, but the ease of the whole process, amid COVID 19 no less, is amazing. Our dinner was completely ruined, and the kids ate fries and yogurt while the package was exchanged, but the big thing is THEY MADE IT RIGHT in the only way they could. They refunded for the bad meat purchase. There are stores out there that are taking advantage of this crazy situation, Shaw's in Wakefield is not one of them. I cannot give them enough credit for this one transaction. The are ALWAYS pleasant to the customers, and their different personalities shine through. In the face of a pandemic Shaw's has managed to not only make a bad situation right, you did it for the first time in 10+ years of us being loyal customers. We were bound to have a "bad" experience at some point, but THANK YOU so very much for making it right! It's We will definitely be there this weekend for our next weekly shopping. Try not to get lost... I am use to grocery stores on the west coast. everything seems out of place. For instance, the eggs and dairy are all the in the back of the store but the bacon and sandwich meat are in the front where the produce is. Weird. It is a very clean store and the staff is helpful. I love my local Shaw's. Everyone from the fish manager Donna, to the check out people are super wonderful. I brought my baby with me on a few occasions, and was offered help with the cart. Just this morning when I went to buy flowers, I needed a container to out them into while they were in the car for a few hours. One of the guys went behind the counter, grabbed a bucket, put water into it and gave it to me. That is what I call customer service! I don't think you will get that at Stop and Shop, where everyone and their mom shops. I hope nothing happens to this place!!! read more

overall this is a good conveniently located grocery store. The only downfall I have about it is the search through strawberries. I've bought strawberries which molded overnight and grapes too. The customer service was willing to take them back and apologetic. read more

I shopped on Sunday 3/16. I like the selection of organic fruit and veggies, "clean' meats and poultry. I drive from Westerly to that store recently, for those reasons. However; today the lines at the register were rediculous only three open, around 1 pm, and I heard the cashier tell the shopper ahead of me, "yeah, it's like this every Sunday, cause nobody wants to work on Sundays..." Are you kiddin me? It took me 1/2 hour to shop, and 40 minutes to check out. Unacceptable! Management take notice..many shoppers seemed unhappy. I won't shop there again unless changes are put in place, and I'll let either stop n shop or belmont get my $$$$. read more

I walked into Shaw's around 8:30pm. All of the seafood department was packed away. They close at 11pm. I tried to get some milk, but it was empty so far back that I couldn't reach the next one. It took me a while to find someone to help me. I'm from California, and I find it weird that a grocery store would close that early. Back home, they close around 1 or 2am and reopen around 5am. I was still able to get everything that I needed. read more
