This is my favorite grocery store in the area. The caveat is that this is not exactly a cheap grocery store, nor will you find giant portions of what they sell. But, they always have a great selection of produce that don't look like they've been sitting their for 2 weeks (y'know...wilting and yellowing out). They have great selections of artisan breads from the likes of Seven Stars Bakery. They actually have Mt Hagen instant coffee (about the only instant coffee worth buying). And they even have a pretty good selection of sushi. The staff are always friendly and helpful too. Anybody from out in western MA? I went to this grocery store fir the first time yesterday, based on its good reputation. I ordered a pound of filet of sole at the seafood counter after being told that it had come in "yesterday'" (the previous day). When I unwrapped it to cook, I found that my order consisted of 2 half-pound filets, calling into question whether it was sole at all. More importantly, the fish surface was sticky-slimy, and it had a strong fish smell. I cooked it in meunière style, meaning light cooking in skillet just until it flakes easily. This fish did not flake, it turned to mush. It had a clearly off flavor. It was, in a word, old. Belmont has an impressive produce section, which I admired. We stopped at Belmont to get some prepared foods for our lunch. I picked the stuffed pork loin (with sausage and peppers) as well as some green beans. There were 4 ladies behind the counter ready to wait on customers, but they took a bit of a while to approach us and ask what we wanted. The food was very salty for my taste and the pork loin was not moist and tender but a bit dry and hard.... The beans were not great either. I don't think we will be frequenting their hot food section anytime soon.. read more

Belmont is a great place to get really excellent store-prepared foods. We are particularly fond of their soups, which are always terrific. Tonight we had their chicken with stars, which was a little different than usual . Their chicken, old fashioned chicken, chicken noodle or rice soups are SO good. Our selection tonight had a bright and slightly peppery flavor, and may be the best one yet! There are a ton of other prepared main and side dishes, salads and desserts to choose from. Fish and meats are very fresh and the hot sausage in their deli case is comparable to that from NY. Stop in, and try those soups, you will be glad you did! read more

I've been faithful to Belmont for the last 5 years despite lackluster service, frequent lack of stock and consistent higher prices than others. But today was my final visit: I bought a $10 half gallon of grass fed milk on July 18 with an Aug 22 expiration date. Opening it the following morning, I found it to be totally curdled. I tried coming here a few times, but nobody smiles everybody's miserable never a hello that's who they are. It's too bad because there are some very nice people in there, which I've talked to and have tried to help me but the majority of the associates are just miserable people. And don't even think about customer service. In the prices easily double of what you'll pay at Shaw's and stop & shop, and those stores are not cheap. I don't like leaving reviews like this but some are just so deserving of it. This was my second time there I'll never be back. read more

I think some employees are new, haven't learned all the departments and where to find things.. Everyone has to be given some slack and patience. That is one of the many reasons businesses everywhere are so short staffed. Sometimes new employees are doing multiple jobs and they are disrespected by people who just don't get what they are going through. We all had to learn new jobs sometimes in our life and it is not easy. I think people need to give them a break and be more patient and encouraging or more of your favorite places will be closing because of no staff!! This is probably the nicest, most pleasant supermarket I've ever shopped at. The prices on national brand products aren't really competitive but Belmont has by far the best quality meat, produce and prepared foods that I know of anywhere around here. Plus they have the best variety of organic and health foods you're gonna find since the co-op shut down. read more

$3.89 FOR ROMAINE LETTUCE....what a rip off... I was really shocked. Local markets near by have the same product for $1.99.. so I left...

Sushi run...grocery run...milk run...or pick-me-up-some-dinner run. This place does it...and does it with class. I love visiting Belmont Market. LOVE it. I say "visit" because I don't really feel like I shop when I am here (even though that's exactly what I do). It would be such a cool place to hang out, if hunger or interest didn't overwhelm you into making a purchase. The staff is friendly. The store is clean. The shelves are well-stocked. And - I don't have to make sure I wear a comfortable pair of shoes because I don't have to walk miles to get to the milk and dairy aisle. It is right-sized, like markets used to be. I am always drawn to their soups. Sometimes I just go in FOR soup. They have four hot soup selections a day, made in-house, that rival any soup I could make in my own kitchen if I had the gourmet ingredients (and, oh yeah, time) to do it. My favorite is the mushroom, leek and chicken soup. I enjoy it too much to even try to dissect the ingredient list but the meaty mushroom flavor and chicken thighs are in perfect balance with the leek-laced broth. The soups do rotate which allows me to explore other 2nd place contenders like last week's chick pea and carrot, sausage and lentil, or vegetable beef. All fan-freaking-tastic. Prepared foods...you cannot come in here hungry. If you do browse the prepared foods and you see the Chicken Statler Marbella (a tasty chicken entree prepared with apricots, olives, prunes, garlic and white wine) ,buy it. The combo of salty olives with the sweet dried fruit is heavenly yumminess paired with the tender chicken. Meats are super fresh...and the seafood department always features super fresh local fish. They also carry smoked seafood from Foxy smokehouse. If you are a fan of smoked fish, you need to stop here...salmon, bluefish, mussels, scallops. All smoked (and some of it caught) local. They also recently expanded their natural medicine/beauty/cosmetics which I'm pretty excited about. The three kids and I literally can spend a good half hour enjoying the soap and lotion frangrances in the testers that they have out. Sniffing nirvana. The floral department here is beautiful. Also remarkable is the HUGE variety of bird food and feeders that they carry. You can also count on beautiful, fresh produce. Last, and certainly not least, they carry sushi from Sushi-Go restaurant. Prepared in front of you and prepared to order if you wish. The signature #2 roll with spicy tuna, asian pear and avocado is my favorite. At about seven bucks, it's a bargain. I adore this absolute gem of a market and regularly drive the 25 minutes here to show my love...even when we're not staying in town. Ample lot parking just a short drive off Route 1. What a fantastic Market! The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. You can find just about everything you could possibly want in the store! The produce is extremely fresh, bakery has great items, there's fresh sushi, the seafood and the meat department are amazing, and they have a health and wellness department that is great. They have so many prepared foods that are so tasty and the options change daily with plenty of vegan options. If you need flowers, they do an amazing job for single bouquets or for special occasions. I have a friend that uses their delivery service and said they do a great job too! Super clean and an overall great shopping experience! read more

The guy stocking shelves in the salad dressings aisle Wednesday night around 830/9pm really made me disappointed and never want to return. After saying excuse me 3 times and being ignored my boyfriend went up to him and ask if we could get something the seafood counter. Which was obviously closed and was totally fine but figured we would still ask cause all we wanted to do was purchase caviar. That man was so disrespectful when he answered us and the way he looked at us and talked to us acted like we bothered him. Very disappointed with how he treated us. I will take my business somewhere else. Where I will be treated with respect and not be given a dirty look by asking a question. read more

Belmont is the ultimate neighborhood grocery store, where you'll find everything you need served up by a helpful and friendly staff. Nearby Stop-n-Shop feels soulless and you're left to fend for yourself. Belmont has friendly cashiers, baggers who'll get a bigger cart or walk you to your car with an extra one, and knowledgeable staff at the deli and bakery. The flowers, cards, and gift selection is also great. I particularly love the orzo salad, the tasty guacamole, heirloom tomatoes, and fresh pasta. I do recommend reaching to the back for lettuce or poultry to find a later expiration date, but Belmont feels like family. read more

Belmont Market has extremely fresh produce, but is pricey compared to Trader Joes or Dave's. It has a nice selection of essential oils and other body products. The employees however aren't very kind or seem to want to do their job. Chelsea, a cashier, wouldn't enter my rewards card when I had it on my phone. I had the card in an app, included the number, pictures of and everything. Others seemed to be annoyed if you ask where a particular item is located. They have the hard to find items RI based products like "RI Red Hot Sauce" I dare you to find & try the Honey Balsamic salad dressing too (get the big bottle) TRUST ME! The deli peeps ROCK! Store is super clean and well organized. They have recently added a 'natural section' where they offer locally made aromatherapy blends and herbs. Sushi Go is my favorite part of the entire store. Known for there produce for years, Belmont Market has become the premier market in Rhode Island. I especially like the prepared foods section, creative, fresh, delicious. Recently picked up some lobster salad (at 37.99# it was no bargain), but it was THE BEST lobster salad I've had anywhere. If you went to any restaurant and ordered lobster salad it would easily cost arond $25.00, you may get 10 oz. So I thought yes it was pricey, but worth it for the quality I received. Quite possibly the nicest grocery store I've ever visited. I vacationed in Narragansett this summer and was in search of a nice market. This store exceeded my expectations in every aspect. I live in Boston and have an array of great grocers but this market was spectacular. The prices are as expected for such fresh and fabulous selection of meats, prepared foods, baked goods, and everything...literally everything else. Will definitely be back next summer! read more

Ahhh Belmonts... Like a Whole Foods but more local and doesnt consume your entire paycheck! The staff are ALL so super helpful and the products are always fresh and great! The prepared foods section rocks, as do the soups and Sushi Go!, which is a little Sushi place built in at the end of the counter. They have lots of organics and their flower section (which you walk through upon entry) is just lovely. I wish there was a place like this down in Florida. Every time I come home to RI, I make the trip here a few times. ALso, their cheese Island is pretty decent as far as RI goes. Good job Belmonts! read more

This supermarket has so many gourmet goodies. I especially like the selection of cheese from Spain, France, and Italy. I've become quite fond of the taleggio cheese as well as a buttery, creamy cheese imported Italian cheese that I recently discovered. There's a whole freezer of local Italian pasta from Federal Hill. Chef Anthony is also at the Belmont Market on Saturdays, and he always has a recipe for shoppers to try as well as a sample of what he's cooking. Chef Anthony is going to offer a whole selection of hot foods starting in May, and I look forward to trying some of those prepared meals. His Italian gravy is pretty good too. He uses only the best Italian San Marzano plum tomatoes for his sauce. Those quality tomatoes make an Italian sauce a true Italian "gravy." Another section I really like in the Belmont Market is the health section, which is filled with natural soaps, essential oils, and toiletries. Everything at the Belmont Market is neatly arranged, and I find items at this market that I can't find any place else in South County. read more

I love Belmont Market, I especially love going in when they have a billion samples out in the deli and produce area. Sometimes I'll go in and I can fill up on samples alone. .. Only bad part about eating samples at a grocery store is when you get that inconsiderate jerk reaching his hand in the bowl and contaminating everything with his or her germy fingers. ..Come on guys, don't you know that's how the Norovirus can be spread? It's especially off-putting when you see a full grown adult doing this. This of course isn't belmont's fault. Belmont is a little pricey compared to other grocery stores, but it's a store that puts pride into what comes into their store. In a way, it's kinda like whole foods, but not quite as intimidating. ( I adore Whole Foods, but I know some people think it's a giant rip off. ) They recently remodeled the store, and I find it harder to find organic products, as well as gluten free products, due to the fact they mixed them in with everything else, claiming it to work better for the customer-- This is not true. I have yet to find several products that I use to search for in their "health food" aisle, since they remodeled the store. I can't say I want to spend an hour searching for the products in question either.. Their new section with the organic body care, and herbs is nice... But..having a rep jump down your throat as soon as you step into this section, kinda makes me cringe . I don't really want to be bothered when I'm in a grocery store, unless of course I go out of my way to ask questions. read more

BELMONT MARKET has always done a fantastic job but aces to them during the Covid-19 pandemic. So nice to be greeted by the employees who constantly keep the store and carts clean.
