Maybe retail workers are just 'over' dealing with holiday shoppers. We don't often shop Macy's and our search for a gift of men's flannel pajama set lead us here. We aren't familiar with the store layout and were talking amongst ourselves as to where men's pajamas could be. An employee who was close enough to hear us made a bee-line away being sure not to make eye contact. Once we found the department, we are talking to each other about where the flannel sets may be located. A second employee followed the example of our previous encounter. We did find what we wanted. No prices are listed nearby or on the garments. Now to find a cashier. We walk around looking. None of the customer service desks are manned. We finally find an employee who is able, and willing, to check us out. That was an unpleasant interaction. Our pajamas were sixty dollars and I apparantly am an ignorant human according to the cashier for not agreeing with their opinions. Brilliant. read more

Macy's has never really done it for me. After not having gone to one in close to 10 years, I quickly remembered why. Overpriced items, limited selection, dreary inside, lifeless employees, and no life inside the store. It was almost depressing looking around. After looking around for about 10 minutes, I needed to get out; it just felt like the energy was leaving my body. read more

They had great sales, but again I wasn't really looking for anything it being couple days after Christmas. Beautiful designer dress at great prices, wish I had a place to wear. Makes it a little confusing if you are looking for one style of dress as you have to go around the store looking. Maybe that's why they do it that way, to make you go around the store. I like to stop at Macy's around the Holidays since they have nice gift boxes for men and women in the fragrance and beauty sections. You can get some really good deals where you buy one item and get another item or a small gift box for free. This Macy's cosmetics section is nicely setup and beautifully presented. Macy's is always my "Go To" for shopping. I'm kinda frugal though. I only buy when items are on sale. If I like it a lot though, I'll buy that pretty dress or kick ass shoes, and if it gets discounted within 30 days I'll get the price adjustment. I was recently waited on by a beautiful Asian woman in the shoe department in Warwick. I'm only commenting on her ethnicity to single her out, because she was awesome. I work in the customer service industry and I must say, this woman had her game on! If you're a man, or gender fluid , the men's department is nothing short of Stellar. I walked through there and was amazed by the beautiful clothing and the people working there. I really enjoy my visits to Macy's. I can dress like a Queen with a Hand Maids budget. I was just looking at Ray-Bans hoping to find the newer version of the sunglasses I was wearing. Jen was working that area and she pointed out the latest and greatest pair. I appreciated the warranted suggestion but it wasn't for me. I noticed how dirty mine were so I started wiping them down and she offered to clean them for me. I was blown away with how kind that was. Then she said they're loose and offered to tightened the screws. I totally would have tipped her $5 at least for what she did but I'm sure their employees can't accept that. I still prefer to shop in stores than to shop online and I'm glad this Macy's is still around. The store associates are pleasant and attentive offering to assist you with what you're looking for. The store is very clean and organized, it's also easy to navigate. When you can find a deal they're wonderful. Last night they had 50% off winter coats, my girlfriend found two coats at $600 each marked down to $300 each and bought them. I'll stop in for some shirts or slacks to wear around the office, or to find a cologne that I haven't yet tried. Also, they have a Starbucks inside which is a true blessing! read more

This store is very popular in RI as few dept stores in this state. I am disappointed as second time I came in (this time on a Tuesday) and no one at Estée Lauder counter during free gift? Someone was covering and not very familiar with products. Friday I came back to get adjustment on a Michael Kors handbag. Customers complaining as waiting in long line to pick up pre purchased purses. The rep had to go in the back to get them while even more customers waited in line. Only one customer service rep. Unlocking bags, running to back and trying to ring purchases. One customer said "This is why Macy's will go out of business". Why have a sale without adequate staff? read more

This is definitely a pretty decent Macy's! Although they don't have some of the higher end brands that you see in other Macy's- they still have a good selection of brands and there is usually various sizes and styles! I came here to pay a bill and left with a few bags. The employees are also very friendly and helpful & won't hesitate to assist you in what you're looking for! I also like this Macy's because there's a Starbucks & it's right near the parking lot! They have a great women's clothing selection my only criticism is the handbags- they should carry more higher quality/luxury brands like Marc Jacobs! read more

This Maceys has the most elegant, clean and spacious bathrooms. As a professional public restroom user I must say The Ambience is beyond anything I've ever witnessed in a public restroom. It's always very clean and well stocked. It's also very accessible and has over 5 stalls. This is a very overlooked feature of a public restroom as there is no worse feeling then having to wait your turn after binge eating your weight in food at the local China buffet. This Macy's is quite a pleasure to shop at, compared to other Macy's in the area (I'm looking at you, Providence Place Mall!!). The store is clean, large and didn't feel congested on a Saturday afternoon. The selection seems fine, although in the athletic section you can only choose from their store brand (Idealogy) and Calvin Klein - although online they also sell Nike, North Face, and Style &Co. It was easy for me to find someone to help me in every section. The three service people I worked with were friendly and actually followed through instead of abandoning me for other customers. In the shoe section the same woman found shoes for me, waited until I made a decision, and checked me out. In the athletic section a woman knew I was looking for a shirt on a mannequin and found the answer for me while I shopped in another section. Lastly, in the regular clothing fitting rooms they had a woman available to get other sizes for you. read more

I always like this store. There are so few department stores left that it is refreshing to be able to go here and get good service and quality items. We all do so much shopping online that it is different to go into a store and actually see and feel the materials. I went here to buy a piece of jewelry for a special occasion gift and the woman who helped me was very knowledgeable and kind. I purchased a gown I loved from Macy's online, but just needed a different size. I walked up to the woman's clothing counter and explained my situation, only to be interrupted and told to go to the dresses department. When I asked which way, she pointed and walked away. Then I meet the lady at the dresses counter who told me that there was no way I could exchange the dress for a different size. I was told I had to return it and re-buy online myself. I must start by saying I am rating my experience tonight, not my overall opinion of Macy's. I have been a long time customer of Macy's and will rarely shop there without using a coupon. It seems it is getting harder and harder to find items qualifying for use of the coupons now. I tried to use my coupon on three separate items and it was rejected all three times. The item that bothered me most was a pair of shoes on the clearance rack that were marked down to $42.... When I tried to use my $10 off $30, the cashier told me it was rejected because it was a "special" for tomorrow. I wonder how it can be a special tomorrow when it's on the clearance rack today. Well I bought the shoes anyway and was unsuccessful in using my coupons for 2'other purchases. It's too bad because I really like Macy's and they often carry great products at good value. It's just frustrating to get these coupons because of being a valued customer and then have to experience stress at not being able to use them. read more

We had intended on buying a new cookware set for ourselves at another department store in the mall. Just to compare prices/products we walked over to Macy's. They had several sets to choose from but none that compared directly to our choice from the other store so we went back to the first store to make a purchase. When we couldn't get any customer service we returned to Macy's and decided on a more expensive set than we had planned on. We also received two "Bonus" pieces so we felt it was a good deal. When we got to the register the saleswoman said if we wanted to wait a couple of days we could get an additional 10% off the price (we were already getting 15%). We told her we didn't live in the area and that we didn't want to return. She understood the situation and gave us the full 25% off! That's how you take care of your customers!! read more

Took my 93 year old dad in to buy a new suit and shirt. He did not want a new suit and was being difficult. Thank goodness we met James in the Men's department. He charmed my dad and got him to try on suits and found an amazing, absolutely stunning suit for him. I hate to have to give this review, as I have been a Macy's customer for over a decade, ever since I moved to the East Coast. At this point, I've charged enough to be a platinum member. But, I am so very disappointed and frustrated by Macy's return policy on its "social dresses," how poorly said policy was "advertised" on Macys.com, and how I have been treated, that I would give zero stars, if possible. Last November, I purchased a dress to wear to my son's June wedding. As a short person, unfortunately, I can't find a whole lot in the store, so I pretty much always find clothing on Macys.com. I end up ordering a bunch of petites and keeping what works and returning what doesn't. That's what I did when looking for a mother-of-the-groom dress. I found an Adrianna Papell dress that I liked, but didn't love. However, I didn't want to wait until the last minute and be without. When I ordered it, it was VERY CLEAR on line at the website that it could not be returned if the tags were removed. It was NOT clear that I had only 60 days to return it. To see that, I guess I had to click on "Shipping and Returns," which I didn't do at the time. I'll admit, it did indicate the 60 day "social dress" return policy on the paper receipt that came stuck on the hanger of the dress, but as I said, I ordered several dresses and returned those I didn't like, and I never even looked at the receipt. Why would I? After all, I either purchase online and don't get a paper receipt, or, when I purchase in the store, I always have my receipts emailed, and buying and returning things has never been an issue. A tag on the dress even says, "We will gladly assist with an exchange or return with this tag attached." So, in my mind, as long as I didn't remove the tags, I could return it. So, the dress sat in its plastic bag in my closet (in a smoke-free, pet-free home). Fast forward to May. It was now a month before the wedding and I had more time on my hands, so I decided that I wanted to see if I could find a more flattering dress. Once more, I went online to Macys.com, ordered several dresses, and this time, found one I really loved. I was elated. I then went back to the store to return all those I didn't want, including the one I bought back in November, only to be told by the customer service person at the desk that I couldn't return it because of the 60 day policy. I was so surprised and upset. I went home, called Macy's, and spoke to a somewhat rude person who said she couldn't help. She told me I could lodge a complaint on the Macy's website, which I did. A few weeks after this, and about a week or so before the wedding, I went to return another item to Macy's, and while waiting in line I witnessed something that dismayed me even more: the customer service representative was dealing with a man who was trying to return items that had been purchased long ago. She explained that 180 days had passed so that he shouldn't be able to return the items. She then asked him if he had called Macy's to "complain," because normally they were good about making exceptions. Then, she ended up giving him store credit for the items! Granted, the amount of credit was minuscule because the items had been so marked down, but still! And here I was with a dress that was still being sold for FULL PRICE at Macys.com, and I wanted to replace it with a different Macy's dress that actually cost more, but I could not, nor could I return it for credit. I'd have been thrilled to have store credit, as of course I'd continue to shop at Macy's. Instead, I am so frustrated by how I've been "treated," that I will pay off my Macy's credit card and refuse to shop there again. I think what frustrates me the most is the fact that this man just in front of me in line was able to get store credit. When it was my turn, (and by this time, there was a long line behind me), I told the women about my situation with the dress, and she just said, "did you call Macy's?" Ha. read more

When the rain gods poured down on RI and flooded all the rivers and streams, and then the roads flooded (near Warwick Mall, Route 2, Route 5 and environs) Macy's Warwick Mall store, along with Old Navy and JC Penney, closed down for maybe eons. I liked the previous Macy's at WM, but the new one that opened in its place was bright, larger, more modern, had a Starbucks in it YAYY!- and a lovelier, it seemed collection of clothing, for women, anyway. (Bar III is nice, and I like their Inc. line which they have always had.) Nice shoes and bags, nice - some designer - clothes, great sales and fabulous coupons. Not as nice a Macy's - say - as in NY (or Atlanta, Ga - that one is totally fabu) - but a decent Macy's for RI and far nicer than the one at Providence Place (boo on that one - bad parking, bad shopping). Anyway, I have noticed a downturn in Macy's in Warwick recently. Maybe I only go in there when stuff is on sale. But it appears that there are just racks and racks and racks of sale items, stuff that maybe you will find one item in one size (and not MY size), it's sort of like a rummage sale - and it's messy and mis-marked and it's difficult to get into one of the waiting rooms, because it appears that people move in there and have picnics with their families, that's how long they stay occupied! I must say, though, that the sales people in Macy's Warwick Mall store are very friendly, very nice, very helpful and always anxious to please. This is something new from the pre-flood Macy's - I never noticed the good attitudes back then. I have found some very decent bags at this store - sometimes brand new Coach bag are marked down 25% (at an unannounced til that day sale - you have to be lucky enough to hear about it).....they also have a lot of Michael Kors bags, Brahmin and Kate Spade are there now too - and a very large selection of lesser known label bags. The jewelry is pretty pretty bad, here, I must say though - quite cheap looking and gaudy and poorly made. And they don't have ALL the stuff that you could find at, say, Bloomingdales, but we don't have a Bloomingdales in RI (nor do we have a Lord & Taylor, sadly). One of my "upper class" friends told me recently that RI department stores are not A stores, nor are they B stores - most are C stores and some are even D stores. Quelle horreure! She said you had to go to Boston for an A store, or perhaps even NY. She's probably right, and she is a meticulously decked out woman. Well, that is not often in the cards for me, so I do frequent Macy's at the mall for my not too special needs, and most of the time I can get what I want, be it shoes, clothing, bags, makeup or perfume. It is not a thrilling shop, but it is a decent shop, and for that I am grateful. read more

Not a big Macy's shopper but this is a good one. The store is spacious and there is a big selection of everything. The women's sections were organized, well lit and easy to navigate. Its clean too. There is a great Mac counter and a Starbucks! I perfer this to the Macy's in Providence any day. read more
