I will say that this place is very organized for a thrift store. They have everything lined up by sizes, even the shoes. They have a wide variety of clothing, shoes and accessories. However, they do not have much in sizes XL & up. It is mostly size large and under. However, I was still able to find a few good deals, but I must say the cleanliness & organization of the store is a little deceiving. The prices of the used clothing is still very high for the conditions of some of the stuff.. alot of the items you can tell are worn with lint balls but are still being sold for $12. I have gotten free stuff in better condition than alot of stuff here. The shoes, I wouldn't even touch them, they are all very worn, should be up for donation, not for sale. Like I said I was able to find 5 reasonable items. The coach wristlet for $18, a juicy couture purse with the tag still on for $16 and my daughter got 3 nice clothing items for $13, which was great. Maybe I will return here in the future to browse, but it is more for smaller woman (did not see alot of bigger men items either). read more

Honestly, this location is really disappointing, not only with their selection of items, but also their "service"-This store unfortunately isn't the best Plato's, the employees are pretty nice- sometimes a tad rude, but my main issue with them is the complete scam they run when selling items to their location. If you walk in there with a full basket of clothes, your chances are that you will receive $20 for half of it. That's it. They definitely don't give you your money's worth- and a lot of their items are from SHEIN, so I'm not sure what they wanna call the "standards"... a better bet is selling on Depop or online sites. I was hesitant about coming here because of the reviews but I will say that I was warmly greeted and welcomed and there was an even better selection of items than I anticipated! My last visit to Plato's Closet was strictly as a buyer. My second visit was strictly as a seller. I'll start out by saying that the staff were overall friendly and prompt. The drop off was fairly seamless and the registration is done entirely through a portal sent to you via text. The processing timeframe was very quick (one might say rushed), and processed within 45 minutes. They definitely missed a few items that met the criteria based on what I saw in the store racks and what they posted as a need online. The three tips I would recommend to sellers is get familiar with the brands they buy, pack your items neatly in either a plastic bin or tote bag, and lastly go on a week day so you have the best shot at all of your items getting a thorough review. read more

Eh? This is a long overdue review. Let's get into it. Plato's is in a shopping plaza area so parking isn't an issue, it's next to Tesla and a pet store. No problem. So I'm going to touch on selling and buying from here because it's two different experiences. Let's start with selling. So the best time to go is Monday, that's when they have the most money to start the week off fresh. The store opens at 10am but I'm warning you now, be there at least 30-45mins before open because there's always people outside waiting. Why is that? Because they only accept so much stuff to look through before they put a sign on the door saying they're no longer accepting items to buy for the day. You've been warned at least 30 minutes before open, people are lined up with bags ready to go. Alright, so 2 bags max I believe to sell. They say they buy for the next season and only name brand stuff. So you would think stuff like Nike, north face, ugg and etc would be of high value here but I notice they just primarily want Fashion Nova and Shein stuff. That's what I noticed is what they sell. Okay back to selling items. Most of the people I know bring stuff with tags and great items and nobody has made over 100.00 YET. Mind you I know people who have some luxury stuff. OH, and if your items are too luxurious they won't buy because they know they can't offer enough to make it with your wile. I've sold about 4 times here and the most I've made was 80.00 and even then I was a fool. They will text you when your stuff is done, and then when you get there out of your 2 bags they will take 3 things and offer you like 15.00. But bring the same stuff back another time and they will buy a few more things. It really just depends who's sorting that day, it makes no sense to me. Phew this is getting long, let's move it along. Long story short, you won't make a lot of money, just bring items here that you will sell for 1-2.00 or were going to donate anyways. For sure not going to make anything decent from your clothing no matter how high end it is. The stuff they sell, is a hit or miss. It's mostly fashion nova stuff or tons of clearance highly worn stuff. When they have events like 90% off clearance it's worth it otherwise I don't think of coming here to shop. Some of the workers are sweet but others just look miserable. Plan on it being an all day thing to get your stuff back when selling. Hope I covered everything. read more

Anything I've bought from this location has smelt and multiple washes doesn't make the smell go away. If you're thinking of selling to them, you should consider Poshmark instead- especially high end and trendy brands. Plato's has a pretty bad rep for taking very few items but that was not my experience in Warwick! I went in with an ikea bag worth of young women's clothes (cleaned, good condition, and folded) and they took the majority of my items for about $90. Things that got rejected had minor stains or were very out of style. I went in the evening and it took around 20 minutes to sort everything. Service was great, the cashier remembered me from times I've been shopping in the store. It was my first time selling to Plato's and they fully explained the process to me. I certainly could have made more $$$ selling on my own, but the convenience of getting it mostly off my hands in one trip is worth it to me. read more

Not sure if they're under new management but I was really impressed this time around the employees knew what they were doing for once and they actually cared and were really really helpful. I was really impressed by how organized everything was for the most part things were in the correct sections. They also had an amazing selection of north face jackets ranging from 15 to 40 and as most of you know those retail between 60 and like 400 so that was really great to see. I think I grabbed two north face jackets two or three north face fleece's and my total was 126 which is the cost of one N. face jacket!!! I knew this place had a lot of potential and it appears they've come along way and they're doing things much better however I wish they would bring back the jewelry because I used to love some of the jewelry I would find in there now there was only a few Alex and Ani bracelets that were like tarnished and they were five bucks so I didn't bother but the employees are a lot nicer and knowledgeable and the store is really in great shape. I used to come here Weekly but apparently I haven't been here in a year so I think that from now on I'll be checking this place out at least once a month now and I will also be going to their event on March 20th! There doesn't seem to be any logic to how they pick clothes to purchase. I could understand if the clothes on their shelves were of a particular style and caliber, but they're not. Some of their stuff is nice, but others look very cheap, old, and tacky. Some just plain old T-shirt's. They accepted my super old generic flannel for $2 but didn't accept my unworn, designer brand dresses (Michael kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, etc), or more casual, nice floral tops / dressy shorts from from Loft, express, banana republic, etc. They also only offered me $4 for unworn dressy Guess high heel sandals and $14 for my Patagonia fleeces in great condition. I came in with about 100 items and they only accepted four for $34. I declined. None of this was worth packing everything up to drive here, to then have to come back later since they don't look at your clothes in front of you. For all I know they could've stolen some of my clothes. Whack policy that they don't go through it in front of you. I took everything back. I got better offers on Poshmark for several items, and even if I didn't, I'd much rather donate the clothes and shoes rather than essentially donate them to this store. Very frustrating. read more

If you're coming here to sell clothes, don't think you're gonna make bank off it, unless you have a trash bag full of clothes. I have sold clothes here twice. Once a football jersey and today a North Face fleece jacket. I got paid less than $20 combined for both items. If you're looking to absolutely get rid of stuff that you don't want Savers to have. Then by all means do it. If you believe you can get a better cut selling them on Facebook marketplace or to a pawn shop. Go with your gut and just take your items elsewhere. It's not a get in get out type of situation either. You have to check your items in and they get queued in with other peoples items. The process could take hours. There is a cutoff for the day too, when they get too many items to sort, they stop accepting buys at a certain time. Today I dropped one thing off at 1 PM. They said it will take 4 hours. Not to mention, the text system and website tracker are sooo not accurate. So I went off to do other things, and I don't live in the area so it's not like I could just go home and come back. I came back at 4ish. I went to check up with the employee to see if my stuff was ready. She said there were 3 peoples items ahead of me, and it's gonna take another TWO HOURS. I just wanted to get outta Warwick as quickly as possible. Ugh. Told them that I was told to come back four hours later. An employee saw I had one item in the bin and offered to sort it after she was done with someone else's stuff. I was really appreciative of that. I really didn't want to be there till 6 PM. haha. They're very picky about what they take and it all depends on what's in style rn and what the season is. The clothes here are what I imagine a TikTok stars closet to be like. Not really my thing, I just wanted to make some quick cash. It's a neat little store, but there's not that much to see. Shelves and racks are stuffed to the gills. The prices are decent but it all depends on each persons taste. This review was mainly about the selling process though. Came in a couple months ago. Staff were rude and unfriendly from the start. The moment I walked into the building I was met with dirty looks from the cashier and another employee standing by one of the clothing racks. They waited about a minute before greeting me, as if they realized they're still on the clock and should probably say something to make it less awkward over the radio music playing rather loudly through the speakers . I felt unwelcome as if they were judging me for coming in and bothering them mid conversation. The clothing was nothing special. Some items had an odor to them and others simply had tears and subtle stains. I know it's a thrift shop but at least make it smell nice before putting it out. Big shocker, I left empty handed. I may be wrong but I've heard they only accept name brand clothing... sure... Shein is all of a sudden the new Gucci I guess. Overall, my experience at this location was not one to write home about so maybe a yelp review will do. I may try a different location if I'm ever bored enough to waste my time. this place is a scam. i brought 4 massive bags of clothes including brand new things with tags on them, clothes that showed no signs up wear and tear AND multiple pairs of shoes with all name brands that they decided not to take. on top of all that... i had multiple things with tags on them brand new and never worn for over 50 dollars and they took the items and only gave me 5 dollars back for each of them. this place is a total scam and i do not recommend. lastly id like to add that the service was terrible, the girls were rude and threw my things around as if they were nothing. Honestly an okay place to shop (tend to be a hit or miss) but I wouldn't suggest trying to sell clothes to them. I had two bags of brands I've seen in the store (Zara, Madewell, Old Navy, Shein, Loft and more) and only offered $25 for like 2 pieces. Honestly I understand the low price, what I don't understand are the associates going through these clothes saying whether the clothes are good quality or not. For instance, for a business that is trying to sell clothes, I would expect the associates to be better dressed. The head cashier was in a sweatshirt and leggings and the other cashier was in an old torn T-shirt that looked like it used to be white. If you're going to say no to cute styles, have higher expectations for your staff's appearance. May shop there once in a while but do not waste your time with trying to sell clothes unless they're new and you bought them two weeks ago. read more

i have quite literally come here a thousand times. I have never had a single bad experience there. Every employee i've talked to has been helpful and sweet, I am not quite sure why so many people are saying the customer service is bad, especially compared to other thrift stores' customer service. At the end of the day I am just grateful they are there. Where else can you find those kinds of prices! last time i went i found a free people sweater originally $118 tags still on and their price was $10. Here's why I'm giving a 5 star review.... firstly I'll start by saying at this point if you dont get there before or by 10am dont expect your shit to get looked at right away. Remember these are people, who have other responsibilities during the day, and actual customers who buy things they need to wait on. So yes the wait time for your bags to get looked at it is a few hours. Several times, and more often than not they are done with mine before what they said initiall. What people need to get is as far as the buying is concerned, it's different people buying different days, and they offer you 30% (I believe) of what they will sell it for. That's how the used business works. you can't expect full value from a business that needs to sell it and make profit, and to keep prices low and the prices are insanely low. I've gotten Ice Cream/Billionaire Boys Club items under $10. I came two days in row to drop off my clothes. it wasn't until the second day that they told me I had to be there before they open In the morning. I came today 45 minutes before opening and was able to give them two bags of quality closes, some with tags on them. They texted me later In the day and told me to come in. I went back and they chose two items of clothing that were last season and said we can give you 9 dollars. I asked why they couldn't use the other items and they said they are not in season which they are. They also said we only buy teens clothes that are out in the malls now. I had young adult clothes that are up to date in my bag. There was not one teen shopping In the store only middle aged women. Also many of the clothes were for middle aged or young adult women. I would rather donate my clothes for free then go back there ever. Very insulting. read more

I recently brought two large bags of clothing (both men's, women's, and juniors) to Plato's closet to sell to the store. The woman who helped me initially said that it would take approximately 45 mins since there were several orders in front of mine and the store would notify me after reviewing my items. Less than 20 minutes later, I received the notification to come and pick up my items. The "buyer" did not accept ANY of them, mentioning that they were either "over a year old" or were not items that they are not accepting at this time. I was extremely surprised to hear that they didn't accept even one item! Why I am surprised: I called in advance and they reported that they were looking for fall/winter items for women and men and T-shirts and jeans for men. I made sure that all of the items fell under the aforementioned. Some of the items still had tags on them and were bought during last winter (i.e. less than a year ago and still in fashion). It was evident to me that the workers did not feel that it was necessary and/or were not motivated to thoroughly look through my items. Maybe the large bags were too intimidating? Not only would it have been too quick to look through the items within 20 mins, but they certainly wouldn't have been able to do so with over orders before mine. I am disappointed and hope that others' experiences are better than mine. It is far more worth it to just donate clothing items rather than wasting the time, organization, and effort by bringing your items to Plato's closer. read more

I've called consistently for a week asking if they are accepting clothes and they always said no it's always at different times of the day. I came early today and i tried calling but no one answered and i drive all the way here which is 30 minutes and they aren't accepting anymore. It's a waste of gas and time. They have an instagram and they need to post when they are no longer accepting because it's annoying and inconvenient. They also need to set hours of when they are accepting because it's different everyday and I've had a bag of clothes just sitting in my car for like two months because they are not consistent. This store is such a joke! I stopped in one morning to check out the store and get a better understanding about bringing items in to sell. I spoke with a very helpful young woman who explained the process and suggested I take a look around at the items they were selling to be sure I fought the correct items for the store. Most of the clothing seemed really worn so I thought my things would be extremely desired, boy was I wrong! I went home and grabbed the 5 large bags of clothing (all good condition, name brand items) that I had and brought back to Platos. What a disaster! After waiting for over 2 hours for them to go through my things (I left and came back), I was handed 4 of the bags back and was told "these won't work, the styles are too old and we don't take work clothes". Since when do "young people" not need work clothes?...Maybe that's the problem with today's society! The clothing was going to the donation bin anyways, so I took the couple hundred dollars offered for what they thought would sell. They did try to buy my Michael Kors bags for pennies which I declined and later sold online for near retail price. I was excited for this spot to open (since the other closest Plato's Closet is out in Massachusetts) and I've been multiple times since they opened. This store is great when it comes to shopping. They have great clothes at good/fair prices. Selling clothes here is tough because they're super picky and will turn things away even if they have the tags on it. It's a guessing game. Mostly take brands like H&M, Forever 21, American Eagle, Gap, etc that are barely or never worn. The biggest issue I have with this store is the customer service. I've dealt with a few really nice people there, and some really terrible. One guy in particular just happens to be working almost every time I've gone, and he has got to be the rudest cashier I've ever encountered. He made me feel as though I was wasting his time and made a few really rude comments to me. Example: I'd forgotten my license in my car when selling clothes (they check your ID) - and when he asked (without making eye contact), I apologized and said it was in my car. His response? "Well that doesn't help me at all, does it?" I don't understand why he couldn't have dropped the attitude and said something like, "Would you mind going to get it? I need it in order to complete the transaction." Long story short, the people that work here have made me dread going in here. read more

Great place to shop for cute and trendy clothes for a good price, however If you are trying to sell your clothes to them expect to be waiting a VERY long time. I tried multiple times to bring my clothes and was told they stopped taking clothes and to come between 9:30am-10:00am. I woke up early and drove the 25-30 minutes to the store and got there right at 10:00am and there was already a huge line of about 50 people waiting. By 10:05 they were already denying people at the door of coming in to drop clothes off. By the time I got to the register to give them my clothes it was 10:45 and the girl told me the text system was not working so I would not be notified when my clothes would be ready but to check back in and it could take up to 9 hours for my clothes to even be sorted through. I should of took my bags back at that point but I thought there is no way it would take that long and I didn't want to have to drive back home and then make the drive back to Warwick so I went to a bunch of stores nearby to kill the time. I checked back in around 6 and the girl said probably 1-2hrs it would be done. At that point it has already been like 7 hours and I was ready to go home!! I left and got dinner and came back around 7:30 and checked in again and was told it would be like another hour so I decided to just take my bags and go home. So if you are planning on selling with them make sure you get there super early so your clothes are done earlier if not you will probably be waiting until almost close. read more

I had such high expectations for this place. I'd heard of the chain and found the one in Warwick and decided to take the drive up the other day and check it out. Was happy to hear they sold brand names. Well I got there and saw purses right inside the door so went through them, no brand names unless you consider Victoria's Secret and Nine West brand names. I don't. I'm looking for Coach, Dooney and Bourke, Kate Spade. They did have a Vera Bradley, but the print was too busy and it looked like it had been pulled out of a trash can. I started browsing the clothes then, I will say the store is well organized and neat. Not a huge variety and since when is TARGET brand name?! Very small selection of yoga pants and no hoodies or even any tops from Victorias Secret. the one thing from there I will consider wearing. This store appeals more to college students or someone under the age of 30. Customer Service.. I'm wondering if any of the girls there even knows what the meaning of that is.. I didn't get a hello when I walked in the store.. and there were only 2 other people in there. How hard is to greet a customer when they walk in. Apparently for this little group of 20 somethings its impossible. They had a good selection of shoes, sneakers, etc.. some of the stuff looked almost new and other things looked like they should have been donated to the Salvation Army or the dumpster out back. I doubt i'll go out of my way for this store again, maybe if I'm in one of the other stores in the plaza, I'll give them a second try and see if customer service has improved and they've figured out what name brands mean. The store has turned into a High school girls playground... everything is either too small or too old, nothing is what they request. they have different employees every week so obviously no one would have a clue of what they're doing, they are disrespectful when you're selling items, they throw your stuff when you don't agree to their price and they are very unprofessional. I have been in different Plato's closet stores in the US and this is by far the worst one. I have found better stuff at Savers or Goodwill in Attleboro and that is a lot to say about a store that request clothing less than a year old to buy. Employees are really nice, always welcomed at the door! As far as shopping here, I would recommend! I got a brand new (tags still on) sparkly Express dress for $15!!! Also a beautiful pair of OTK boots for $12! As far as selling your items, I wouldn't recommend wasting your time! The worst experience. They only want to buy the latest up to date clothing (things purchased within the last year), and offer you NOTHING for them. When I look through the racks, all I saw was junk! I brought in 5 pairs of my daughters AE jeans that I bought for her at the beginning of school and they only wanted to buy 2 pairs with the rips and offered me $9.45.
