I've been to this location twice. Both times I had bad experience with the buyers. It's sad that they accept brands like h&m, forever 21 ect. but don't accept good quality clothing. I saw a shein shirt for 14.00 and a UO shirt for 8.00. Yes it prob all comes from same place but prices are higher at UO compared to shein. Normally when I come here to sell my clothes I have at least a 3-star experience, however, today was the worst experience I have ever had here. I have never written a bad review for anywhere/anything but I would literally give this shop 0 stars if possible. My cousin and I came in this morning (30 minutes after the shop opened) to sell some clothes and were told that the wait time would be 3 to 4 HOURS. We thought, ok, that's a lot different from the usual 1-2 hour wait but whatever it's fine. Ultimately, the 4 hours pass by and we still had not received an update that our clothes were even sorted through yet, so we decided to drop by the store and ask for an update. Turns out in those 3-4 hours our clothes were not even sorted through AT ALL. They were in the same exact spot the staff member put them in this morning. My cousin and I do not live locally and she had to be at work by 5pm today, so as you can imagine, we were not very impressed. The 2 staff members working there (yes, 2) had gotten themselves in a situation that was way over what they could handle. They had over 20 bins of clothes to sort through and even stopped taking in clothes to help catch up on drop-offs from this morning, which is unfortunate for individuals who traveled here just to be turned away. I understand the store is busy this time of year but a 3-4 hour wait time in addition to the likelihood that Plato's will not accept most of your clothing anyway is a complete waste of time. If you're looking to sell your clothes I highly suggest that A). you come here only if you have a lot of time to spare or B). stay away and try to sell to Thred-Up instead. "Tags are still on items" I keep seeing this same phrase on most of the selling posts.... That doesn't mean they are new. I had some tagged items I bought from yard sales, even bought from Savers and other consignment shops, or that were given to me and they were far from being new! I do not recommend this place at all. Rude staff and very unorganized. The clothes they have set up are dirty and very tacky. I brought them two big bags of really nice clothing and they denied all of them except 3 items. They barely went through the clothes I bought, and they had very pathetic rules. I tried leaving two large bags and I had to have my friend claim one which made them require her ID. Totally fine since they were large bags but then they said she had to be present upon pick up as well when she authorized them to give me back both bags?? Went here today & it was the ABSOLUTE worst Plato's Closet I have EVER been to. I brought in 2 totes full of items, almost a full tote of Victoria's secret and they took NOTHING. If I brought my clothes to a different platos closet I probably would've sold almost a whole tote. I also was looking around while my clothes were being processed and there were A LOT of items with stains and they wanted an arm and a leg for them. They were not helpful in any circumstance, i dropped off two bags of clothes and they did not accept one thing. They told me it was because of wear and pilling but i had many clothes brand new with tags on them still. I had heard good things about this place so I decided to give it a try. I don't live in the area and drive a good hour ana a half to get there. I give them my big garbage bag of clothes I no longer wear or never touched. I was told they take clothes that are "in style", hollister, american eagle, forever 21, etc. I found this great because half my clothes were hollister and american eagle (some things still with the tags on them). After waiting an hour I went back only to find that out of all the clothes they only wanted two pairs of under armour pants because all the other clothes were "out of date". If I had known I was only going to get ten bucks for two pairs of pants that combined cost me $80, I would have never brought my clothes here. The staff here have the worst customer service. Super passive aggresive and unprofessional. I have walked in multiple times where I would get a stare and look just for them to greet the next customer who walks in. I have been talked down on and items I bring in seems to not be picked due to personal reasons rather than it being an item that could actually be bought. I have items that were not chosen because it was wrinkled or "minor wear and tear" that was no where to be found followed by a "oh its out of season, come back next year". First off I was recommended to this place saying it was great to sell my clothes and when I went there with three bags of clothes all high brown clothes and honestly 40% of the clothes I brought in had the tags on and we're brand new and they told me to come back in 40 minutes and they were done in 20 minutes and they didn't take any of my stuff saying it was worn out and used they didn't even bother to check my clothes because like I said almost half those clothes were brand new with the price tags and everything still on them this place is a joke their employees are lazy read more

Clean, organized, and professional. The clothes selections are great too, high quality, with wide variety of style for everyone from preppy to funky from classy to boho. You can tell how hard they work keeping up with the store and helping customers find what they're looking for. They were so helpful and patient with me helping me find a purse and I saw them help so many other customers in my short time there. Drove here twice, first time I arrived at 2 pm after driving an hour and a half to get there, and they told me they were not accepting any more bags, (they close at 9pm), told me to make an appointment because it's "first come first serve and there's lines out the door" so I had to turn around and go home. I come again today, at 10:30 am and drop my bag off. No one told me the wait time, so I call again at 11:30 and they tell me that my wait is 3 hours long and they have 10-15 bags to look through before mine. I was killing time by going to the stores surrounding plato's, and after about 2 hours I call again. I spoke with Adrianna and she kept adding more time I had to wait. They didn't start going through my clothes until 5 minutes before they called and told me it was ready. I come in and look at the clothes they had on the floor and it was literally disgusting, dirty and very outdated. They offered me FOUR DOLLARS for 4-5 items and told me they were sorry, and that the rest of my clothes were "wear and tear" and they couldn't accept it, which was untrue because I throughly inspected all of the clothes I had brung to them. A majority of the clothes were Brandy Melville, Shein, Princess Polly, Missguided, Boohoo. The fact I only got $4 for 4-5 items that were in almost perfect condition is extremely ridiculous. The customer service here is also terrible, the girl who gave me my $4 was extremely rude and condescending. read more

I should of learned my lesson that past few times I go and they give you next to nothing for your items even new with tags and then upsell it double to triple the price so they can profit off it . I had high hopes for this consignment spot after many aesthetically pleasing posts on their Instagram page. The store itself is quite large and things are organized quite accurately to size and color. However, it is definitely targeted towards smaller women and a younger age group than what I was looking for. I was not greeted when I entered (not a big deal for me, I prefer to browse rather than be followed) but I worry that other shoppers who may need assistance navigating the store may not know who works there vs. shoppers. This place is a straight up scam. I had brought 4 bags of clothes in that were all in great condition, some with tags still on them, and in style. After 5 hours of waiting for them to sort through them I finally come back to see what they wanted and they hand me back two out of four of the bags. They tell me they're gonna give me $56. No way was that even fair. I had asked if i could take out what I didn't want to sell and they go on to tell me my brand new pair of jeans with tags attached was only getting me $5! We've had such a bad experience with selling clothes here! On two occasions we've brought clothes here from brands such as Vineyard Vines & J.Crew and they NEVER take them. We tried selling dress shirts and nice dresses and it's been impossible to do so. Unless you have teenage clothes from Old Navy, American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch and similar brands you will not be successful in selling clothes here. I always bring in brand names that have been worn once or not at all and they will literally pay you about $0.50-$5.00 for each item. I brought in ASOS heels that I wore once and bought for $80. They took those shoes along with more than half of the other things I brought in exchange for $79, all together. I've done this whole process twice. I would recommend selling your items on Poshmark or Babble. Platos closet will give you as little money as possible no matter how good the brand or condition is. read more

I had heard about this store through friends and they told me it was a decent consignment shop. So I went here a few times to buy clothes and I can't say I didn't see anything wrong with any of the items they were thoroughly clean, and I've even scored a few deals on things. So those two stars are for that part. The selling part of the store however... I would not reccomend. If you're anything like me you love buying fashionable trendy outfits and accessories. If you're also anything like me sometimes payday can take forever to come and you want to get some extra cash while helping others. So I gave it a shot. I donated a bag full of clothes with a pair of shoes, and a certain name brand purse that's initials are plastered all over it. I dropped it off and waited half the day (eye roll) thinking heck I'll at least get 12 dollars out of this, maybe more. Some of the clothes I donated were from popular designers and in good condition so I tried to be optimistic. Five measly dollars, pardon me $4.90. You can't even get a quarter tank of gas with that anymore. Feeling jipped is an understatement. Seriously people I could put my spices, flour and sugar into baggies and sell them pretending they're drugs and make more than you will make donating your goods to this fine establishment. Most of the people I saw dropping off items were poor college kids like myself. Know your area and stay humble, because if you were located in providence you wouldn't have made it as long as you have now. First off, this place smells like dirt and sweat.I brought a bag with 5 items (all new with tags), i had purchased them at the beginning of this year but did not fit me anymore. The first lady who explained the process of selling the clothes was very nice, however the second one who told me they weren't taking any of my items was extremely useless and looked like a crackhead. She couldn't give me a definite answer on why they couldn't take the items. I love this store! It's clean and organized and has a lot of brand name clothing for a cheap price. Also, a wide variety of sizes which is rare at thrift shops. I also like the way the store uses Instagram to showcase items and allow followers to put them on hold for a day. The buying policy makes sense to me and I always get a reasonable amount of money for what they choose to buy. However, the atmosphere is a little bit uncomfortable. When I went in the staff was having a loud conversation amongst themselves while my cousin and I were trying to get our money. They were talking about another customer not being allowed in the store in front of us, blatantly ignoring us. They mentioned how they texted the customer to let her know she was banned. It was a private conversation that needed to be held at a separate time instead of loudly being discussed while we were trying to get our stuff back. The cashier didn't give us any details about why they were taking what they did, and did not speak to us besides saying the price they were taking them for then continued to talk amongst themselves. Well a friend told me about this place..hmm... I'm usually up on these type of stores, always on the lookout cause I love a bargain and to my Surpize !! This place is AWSOME!! The store is so neat and organized and nicely set up. Well needless to say I was in there a loonng time trying on clothes and boots. They have a very good selection of quality clothing, some brand new with the tags still on them. They also take clothes in good condition and give u $$ if they take it . They also have clearance too. I have sold some clothes to platos a couple of times defiantly better than just getting rid of them and getting some extra cash but would be way better off taking the time and selling them on a resell app. They say some clothes are outdated or past the year mark (whatever that means) even when they were purchased in the last month with tags! They have nice this for decent prices but some are over priced..I think they forget they are a second hand store sometimes. Most employees are nice but one of the guys who works there is so rude! I think he might be the manager but I haven't seen him the last two times I've gone. He always has some comment to make that always upsets me! I shop here often which is another story than buying. I shop here very often and I love shopping here. Victorias secret close for a fraction of the price. I honestly love that. And other name brand clothes. Which of course is awesome. They have days where you can wait in line and the first so many people get a free gift card which I look forward to every time they do this. And I know all of the staff (not by name) but I do remember them every time I go. They are all so friendly and helpful as well. But for buying things honestly I know they have to be picky but I've brought in plus size things that no longer fit me due to losing weight that are either new with tags or very gently used (they always say looking for plus sizes) but honestly they never buy my old plus size clothes. Only my clothes that are a large and down ever get bought. But the amount you get back is kind of sucky. I probably won't sell there again. But I will continue to love shopping there. Selling your stuff here is a waste of time. I brought in a bag of at least 20 pieces of barely worn items and walked away with most of the bag and $17. Personally I think their standards are a bit too high and you'd be better off selling your things on the app Poshmark. Terrible experience. This place is absolutely awful. They took all of my brand new, never been used Victoria's Secret stuff that I had purchased within this month and gave me $11, said they couldn't take any of my other nice stuff because it was "worn" when it wasn't... and then sold me a shirt for $14 that had a bleach stain all down the front of it.
