    Niles Walmart Auto Service

Walmart told me they don't take appointments for battery exchanges, which I thought I needed. I arrived at 7:30 AM, before another customer who had an appointment for a different service. As a returning, dissatisfied customer, I expected to be helped first based on the first-come, first-served principle. Since they may have installed a faulty battery for the second time, they should prioritize correcting their mistake. The first time, I had to wait over two hours. I firmly explained that I was told appointments aren't available for battery services and that this was a request to correct their error, not a new installation. After waiting an hour and a half, it only took them five minutes to check my battery--just to tell me it was good and the size was compatible. The supervisor kept insisting, "We didn't make an error; the battery is good." But as a returning customer with a complaint, I could have been told that over an hour ago if providing quality customer service was your first priority instead of being made to wait unnecessarily.

My order of pizza x 9

We always do pick up at Wal Mart for the convenience. Generally good, occasionally dented soup cans, moldy strawberries but okay. Today was very frustrating. I did my pick up and when I got home I had 9 pizzas, only ordered one. And 2 milks, only ordered one. The 9 pizzas were $35 so I had to drive back and return the items. I tried the pick up area, and the guy said I have to go in. As I drove away he said "good luck"! Got to return counter, waited 10+ minutes and finally got someone to help, he was good, a sorry. He mentioned to a manager with long hair and said wow, did you pay for those? I said yes, but I did not order 9. He walked away. I get Walmart is not Whole Foods, but this was a real hassle and nothing offered. I'll probably keep going, but now I will get out of the car and oversee the order as it's loaded into my trunk. Low prices, low service.

I'm occasionally asked why I drive 20 minutes to Walmart when Target, Costco, and Mariano's are closer and have great selections in nicer environments. Whatever I save in money at Walmart, I pay for in time and frustration. And yet, I love Walmart because it is very grounding. The people here are real. They're often struggling to get by, many are new to this country, and way more than half are on SNAP. There is no shortage of young families shopping late night after working a shift somewhere. There's no pretension. The place reminds me of my immigrant roots, the scarcity my parents knew, and that we're all in this together.

This is the open package. Pulled it out of the bag and this is what I saw.

Great service. Nice people. Not your usual Walmart. I was visiting from Chicago and it was helpful to have this store around.

I guess I've never reviewed this shopping complex, but we've been here a million times over the 13…read moreyears we've lived in the vicinity. The massive area was previously the site of the Glenview Naval Air Station and this shopping center is the heart of the huge Glen residential community as well. There are numerous shops and restaurants here and it's always a pleasant experience to visit. Like Fashion Outlets in Rosemont, every time we visit there is something new here. One business or another has left and another has stepped in. The rent must be high here, and if you don't continually draw the requisite traffic, you won't survive. We've seen a lot of businesses come and go. Remember Ted's Montana Grill? - it was a favorite of ours and also one of the first to disappointingly close in our earlier years, and that's now The Oak at the Glen, and in a prime location. Some of our favorite and long standing and still standing businesses here are Von Maur, Dick's Sporting Goods, and the Yard House. I could probably name another 20 shops or restaurants we liked or tried here, but that have all since closed. Jibek Jolu is a relatively recent addition that we like for what that's worth. We were going to try Dee's Place (soul food) one day, but dang, they closed before we even got to it, and that was a big investment in a large space for that restauranteur, and too bad. It can get busy and crowded, but nicely there is alway parking to be found in one of their parking lots. Oh well, business is tough here for the tenants, but for us consumers, this is a great upscale town center.

What an interesting collection of restaurants and shops! Over the years, the tenants here have…read morechanged but the collection is always a bit more unique than what you'll find in other shopping centers in the area. One of the best features of this spot is the setup which resembles a separate downtown shopping space, similar to what you'd find in downtown Arlington Heights with parking nearby. The walkways are clean and well maintained and it's a great space to take a stroll and enjoy lots of different options in a casual evening with warm weather. One of the standout features of this shopping center has always been their great mix of restaurants which cover a wide variety of different cuisines. Currently 1800 Cut Restaurant, Yard House, El Tradicional, Dawg Park Grill, and Eggpresso are some of the many fine options here. There's also plenty of spots to puchase clothing, jewelry, sports good, and more -- in addition to a selection of spas and salons. Overall, not a huge but a fun shopping center that provides a nice alternative to visiting the mall but a unique set of restaurants and shops.
