I was having trouble with the electronic ordering process and late last night I took a chance and called the Wal Mart store on Golf Road in Niles. Marg was unbelievably helpful, to the point of coming in on her day off to ensure my order was handled perfectly. After a career in retail, I don't see this level of service very often these days, and it really warmed my heart. Bravo Wal Mart, and bravo Marg for going far above the norm. read more

This big Walmart is a busy and popular one. Their parking lot is always congested, day or night, and I don't know about the weekends, but would assume the worst case, as we avoid visits here on the weekend. The store is good to have around for its convenient location factor, but we much prefer the Walmart on Rand Road in Mount Prospect as it is cleaner, has a better grade of clientele, and is relatively less congested. The community and clientele in the immediate area here is more in the typical Walmart customer range, meaning more frugal middle class, and that's one big factor that makes it a particularly busy location. Another is it's in a pretty large strip mall with several restaurants and other businesses. We'll come in if there is a particularly good deal on something, or to pick up an online order, or if we just need a little item and we might be passing by at a relatively quiet time. I waited for my delivery to leave the driver a tip but he never brought my items to my door, he left all 6 of my bottle waters in the driveway of our town house. Which to me is very disappointing. I like to hand my tip to the person if I have the money sometimes I have the money and other times I do not. But I did have the tip today and wanted to give it to him but if this is how your delivery drivers delivery items in the driveway where anyone can pick them up because there is no security in our driveway and anyone could have picked my items up. Walmart told me they don't take appointments for battery exchanges, which I thought I needed. I arrived at 7:30 AM, before another customer who had an appointment for a different service. As a returning, dissatisfied customer, I expected to be helped first based on the first-come, first-served principle. Since they may have installed a faulty battery for the second time, they should prioritize correcting their mistake. The first time, I had to wait over two hours. I firmly explained that I was told appointments aren't available for battery services and that this was a request to correct their error, not a new installation. After waiting an hour and a half, it only took them five minutes to check my battery--just to tell me it was good and the size was compatible. The supervisor kept insisting, "We didn't make an error; the battery is good." But as a returning customer with a complaint, I could have been told that over an hour ago if providing quality customer service was your first priority instead of being made to wait unnecessarily. read more

We always do pick up at Wal Mart for the convenience. Generally good, occasionally dented soup cans, moldy strawberries but okay. Today was very frustrating. I did my pick up and when I got home I had 9 pizzas, only ordered one. And 2 milks, only ordered one. The 9 pizzas were $35 so I had to drive back and return the items. I tried the pick up area, and the guy said I have to go in. As I drove away he said "good luck"! Got to return counter, waited 10+ minutes and finally got someone to help, he was good, a sorry. He mentioned to a manager with long hair and said wow, did you pay for those? I said yes, but I did not order 9. He walked away. The Pharmacy staff here has went down over the years here for sure. Iv been getting one of my medications here for about 2 years now and was having some trouble getting the price I usually get it for. When I went through good rx my coupon wasn't working and had someone help me out before and they had even offered me another coupon, but when I was in there the other night this larger white woman was "helping me out" and she was just god awful, rude, and seemed that I was a burden asking for some assistance. I'm occasionally asked why I drive 20 minutes to Walmart when Target, Costco, and Mariano's are closer and have great selections in nicer environments. Whatever I save in money at Walmart, I pay for in time and frustration. And yet, I love Walmart because it is very grounding. The people here are real. They're often struggling to get by, many are new to this country, and way more than half are on SNAP. There is no shortage of young families shopping late night after working a shift somewhere. I looked online for a Sterlite 3 drawer cart. There were 2 exact items listed one for $16.42 and one for &23.94. Since I could not tell the difference between the two items I went to the Niles Illinois Supercenter to purchase the cart. The store only had one priced at $16.42. When I went to self-service check-out and scanned it, I realized that the cart had the wrong tag on it. The picture on the tag was not a picture of what I was buying and it was priced $15 more than what I was buying. I showed it to the woman watching the area and she agreed. She called over an employee named Leon and he just stared at me. He then went and helped another customer, came back to me and again just stared at me. He did not offer to do a price check or anything else. So, I looked the item up on my phone and showed him the price. He took my phone and swiped until he found the higher priced item that I had originally seen but could not find in the store. I said, that is not the price that was on the shelf where I found the cart. He refused to do anything to check it out. So I refused to buy it. read more

I am no fan of Wal Mart in general because their business model destroys local stores and puts them out of business. That said, I have been to this particular store three times in my life. And every time, I have been barked at or corrected by their angry employees. Today, I went in to buy an umbrella for our patio and some plants for the garden. I threw the umbrella in a cart and proceeded to walk into the garden center. Some angry woman starts barking at me loudly telling me I can't take the cart into the garden center. I told her I was buying a bunch of large potted plants and needed the cart. She told me I have to leave the cart inside the doorway and bring in the plants one by one. I explained again that I was buying eight large potted lavender plants and I'm not going to go in and out of the store multiple times. She yelled at me to the point other customers stopped and turned around and said the cart couldn't leave the store. I took it outside anyway and started loading the plants. Her associate followed me out the door and pretended she was looking at something else. But every time I looked up, she quickly turned away. So I asked her if her friend sent her out to make sure I wasn't running away with the merchandise. She didn't answer but when I walked back in to check out she came in behind me. Then the two of them started talking shit about me in Urdu while I was checking out. I guess they thought I wouldn't know. But I have friends from Pakistan so I had a solid grasp of what they were saying. This Wal Mart is located in a lousy neighborhood. I'm sure they experience plenty of shoplifting. The problem is I always feel like I just stepped into some third world hell hole when I go in there. They treat customers, and I'm sure each other like shit. So my third trip was the last. I placed an online order for pickup at this Walmart. I ended up shopping in-person at Walmart and buying everything I needed plus more, so I canceled the order pickup. The Walmart employee called me to ask why I wanted to cancel, and I mentioned I already got the items I needed. He said fine. The order remained in pending cancel status though. A few days later, the status updated to "Picked up" and I got charged for the items even though I never picked up the items. I talked to Walmart online and they recommended that I file a dispute to get the charge removed. Which I did. Still waiting. But not cool...I shop a lot at Walmart. This review is regarding on-line shopping and pickup/delivery service. For health reasons, I am unable to shop in-store, therefore, I must use stores with on-line shopping and pickup/delivery services. This is re: the Niles Walmart near Golf Mill, Niles Illinois. This Walmart has had online grocery with pickup/delivery for many years. There is no charge for the basic service. I do participate in the Walmart + program because getting deliveries for free instead of $9.99 is a good deal. Overall good service, but not great. There are some glaring issues: 1) I have been getting someone else's groceries lately. Two weeks ago, the customer's name was on the bag so I had them sent right back to the store. This weekend, I again got someone else's groceries, but this time no name on the bag. While I did notify the store, I did not have this item returned to the store.2) Frequent broken/cracked eggs. This happens with almost every order of eggs so be sure to check your eggs right away. If cracked or damaged do an online return to get your money back. 3) Quality of fresh produce is fair at best. Poor for some items like tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce. 4) Walmart quietly raising prices on staples, like peanut butter, flour, milk, bread and eggs. 5) Walmart puts large $ hold above and beyond what is necessary for grocery total on your credit/debit card. For example, if your total is $100.00, they might put $150.00 hold on your card. Their excuse is that your bill with substitutes and weighed items might go over. However, there is no excuse for the large amount they put on your card above the total. I also find the website difficult to use with way too many ads. A lot of scrolling through unnecessary information is necessary to place your order. They are also trying to get online shoppers to hit that subscribe button for many items. They try to bury the one time purchase button. So it takes a lot longer to shop the Walmart site than it used to. I will give the Walmart website credit in that they let negative product reviews stay on their site. So it can be easy to get a good picture of a product's quality and reliability. The other issue is that over time Walmart is offering less lower priced foods especially in the freezer section. Less Smart Ones, Michelina's and individual frozen burritos, breakfast burritos and less lower cost healthy frozen foods. So Walmart on-line grocery shopping at the Niles store is just okay, but needs to improve on order accuracy, eliminate errors and improve quality. Enhance healthy, lower cost food items, simplify the website. Btw: Door Dash does the Walmart grocery deliveries and this service has greatly improved over the years and is now excellent. read more

I have not shopped at Walmart since 2016. However, was with my siblings and they wanted to check out the store, so I tagged along. It reconfirmed why I stopped shopping specifically at the Niles location. Not only was the store a complete disarray, but you have employees that are incompetent. The best analogy I can compare my experience is with the DMV. Employees lacked motivation, there was no sense of urgency, and attitudes were very cut and short. When you need assistance they are no where to be found and they treat you like your inconveniencing them.The Niles location is the worst. read more

Usually, I would give this Walmart a 5 out of 5. As I shop here a lot and use the curbside pick up here a lot. However, tonight I went to this Walmart with my child and picked up a few random items and paid for them and got a receipt. Some random undercover person ran past the greeter, as we were leaving, and approached my child. The man didn't have a proper badge and I stepped in and asked what he wanted. We showed our receipt and I let him know if we didn't pay for our items we wouldn't have a paid for receipt. He tried his best to try me but he had no choice but to let us go as we paid for our items. One of the previous reviews from another customer mentioned how this store has almost all self check out and not many clerks to check customers out. It is true. I don't know if it is due to the massive worker shortage or another Big Box store strategy to save money with less workforce and using the customers to do the check out work. But our encounter was a perfect example for all us parents that tell our young people to always always get a receipt and a bag no matter what! Yes, the man if he was a undercover store security was doing his job. But if my child or I would have neglected to get that receipt or bagged our items but mainly neglected to get that receipt it could have been something it didn't have to be. The store cut or has little cashier workers to check customers out. But now they are monitoring those self checkouts and they may or may not have one person or maybe just a few people to monitor the whole fleet of self checkout monitors. We don't know how qualified these people are to really run security and what biases they bring to work with them and them running up on customers can turn from a missing or not picked up receipt to people getting embarrassed to even contained or worse if that person watching has some type of bias against a type of customer. This is another place to show how a simple visit to the store can turn wrong or bad for someone who has paid for their items and either didn't take their receipt. This is also a place where a untrained security officer that cannot properly read a receipt or understand that they saw me pay at the register and that the self check out register and not a human cashier spit out a receipt to me meaning I paid can also have a bad outcome with unfairly containing or worse a customer. I will consider not shopping at that store in the evening shift ever again as from what I see the day shift people are more professional and experienced. Always get your receipt! read more

One of the worst Walmart's around. It's a shame because it's one of the newer locations at less than 10 years old but it's a hot mess. Always super busy even when the weather is horrible. It's one of the most messy & disorganized Walmarts I've ever been to. Plus they are not well stocked at all. Things are everywhere if they are there at all. I went in for a few items and could only find one of my 5 items. It's sad because this location used to be great but looking over their reviews, all recent feedback is garnering this location 1-2 stars. I hadn't gone for a couple years as I no longer live in the area...and after my most recent visit, I have no plans to ever go back. Walmart is the kind of place that brings together people from all walks of life. Walk inside and you'll see an amalgamation of just about every kind of person you can think about. On one hand, it's entertaining if you like to people watch as you grab some toiletries. But for most, I think that after trekking through the parking lot after finally finding a spot at the end of a workday, they just want to get in and get out. That's how I feel at least. I always park at the far corners of the lot or in adjacent businesses' lots to avoid dings from careless drivers and the numerous stray carts that customers were too lazy to corral. Unfortunately, the reality is that you have to endure poor parking, long lines, faulty self checkouts, and sparse customer service to save a couple dollars. Although this location doesn't attract too many people that speak Walmart that come out of the fringes of society, there are still reasons why people continue to pay a little more and go to Target. read more

This is a thrift store. I bought a TCL TV 50" and it stopped working after two months. I approached to this location (niles, IL) and asked them why my TV turned black and what my choice was to return it...they said: "you may buy a new one and to throw the other one away"...it was amazing to hear how they implicitly recognized that what they sold was garbage. I asked to speak to the manager and his answer was the say (May 22,/2021 @ 3pm) They do not care about what you have to say or to keep you as a costumer. They recognized that whatever you buy, you eventually will throw away after few months...! that is a thrift store. they are not going to take any responsibility for any garbage they sell; however, you are most welcome to continue buying in their thrift store. You never should buy any electrical appliance, cells, or expensive products. they do not guarantee you if they will work within two months...it is a joke when they say that they will cover the first months...that is their game. Very bad experience at this place as I was at self pay counter, when I called the lady for approval of one item, she came and asked me to re-scan the other item which was already scanned, I told her that item had already been scanned but she refused to listen and keep telling me to scan that item again. the item price was already indicated on the screen and I told her this is price for the above item but she clearly refused to listen and said that price does not belong to the above item, so I scanned that item again as she was trying to embarrass me in front of the other customers, the screen indicated that item is already scanned. That stupid lady didn't even bother to say sorry and said oh it's ok... and I was just watching her face..... this Walmart is full of stupid people..... This is the second time in a month that I have come to this Walmart to purchase ice cream cups. They come in a package of 12 cups, 6 vanilla and 6 chocolate. They have not had it on either visit. I went to buy Wheat Thins crackers. The shelf was a disaster and even after looking carefully there were none to be had. I also wanted to purchase some Green Giant boxed vegetables. There was only broccoli/cheese and cauliflower/cheese on offer. Completely out of bussel Sprouts and mixed vegetables, for the second time in a month. 3 out of the 4 items I came to the store for were unavailable again. read more

Holy crap one star galore. This Walmart is not that bad. It's perfectly average. I don't know why, but somehow I make my way out here more often than I realize... Of course, it's the usual Walmart price for the usual Walmart quality crap you get, but if you need to go, you go. It's not horrible. Well, I guess if you just generally hate Walmart, you might hate this one too. If you generally find Walmart acceptable, I don't think this one is any worse than usual. It's not badly organized. Open 24/7. Convenient. Stuff are stocked. If you go at night, you actually run into everyone stocking the store and very few people running around. Very calm environment to do whatever browsing you need. Definitely a clusterfuck during the day on the weekend though, from the only time I went during this time. The only thing to be watchful about is right before midnight (not sure how long before midnight) or so, there's only one register open and a bunch of people lined up, and self check out is closed for some stupid reason, and it's a pain. If you wanna stop by for alcohol, go WELL before 11:50pm because many times chances are you won't make it to the line in time. After it turns 12AM the self check out lines magically open. Most of the time this is a good place. But more than one occasion on my usual shopping trips have I found expired and moldy food on the shelves. Needs to do a better job cycling food on shelves. Picture of the worst I found most recently Employees are nice and store is kept well other than that. Also prices are reasonable for Niles. Just make sure to check those expiration dates! After allowing three customers to exit the store ahead of us, the door monitor decided to stop our cart and ask to see our receipt. I asked why he chose us versus the 3 non brown customers who'd excited right in front of us and he mumbled something about their bags. Careful, to not be unfair and/or give the impression that 'only certain races need monitoring'. Only one way to get in and out of the parking lot, poor layout for quick movement of traffic I usually don't come to this location for this exact reason, but needed something immediately that I could get here cheaper than the hardware store just up the street. I really think they can improve on the quality of service and their shopping carts do not work properly. I prefer to shop at other locations further away because the service and product availability is much better than this location. May I recommend they invest in the smaller shopping carts to ease the process of shopping for fewer items especially walking through the very tight and over crowded aisles of merchandise. Despite my misgivings over their "corporate culture" and the horror stories I hear about the way they treat their employees, I do occasionally stop in if I'm in a hurry and need to pick up something quick. Yes, I'd prefer spending my money at a small, family run business, but sometimes they're not open when Walmart is, and I don't have much choice if I have an immediate need for something. Prices are reasonable. Selection is more than adequate. I was surprised at the beer selection they had, expecting only a few of the nationally-known brands. They have a pretty decent selection of microbrews. The aisle gets clogged when they restock shelves. I had to make several detours to avoid the pallettes of new product rolling in. My cashier was a bit surly. Other than that, I was in and out quick and got everything I needed. read more

The first observation is you feel like you need a tetanus shot just walking around the parking lot. When shopping the stockers make you feel like you are in their way. We had one just butt in between the two of us as we were having a conversation about two items, perhaps 3 feet apart. I realize that they need to stock the shelves but a little politeness would go a long way. One of the items we purchased was tampered with so I had to return to the store to get a replacement (40 minutes wasted). We often drive 30 minutes one way to Addison or Itasca to shop at those WalMarts because the shelves are fully stocked, the employees are helpful, and the inside and outside is clean.
