This is mainly for Restaurants & businesses and requires a license, but you can get a free 1 day pass & shop there

01/01/21 - Restaurant Depot is like a candy store for cooks & foodies. They stock a tremendous amount of food products at a bulk discount rates for restaurants & businesses. Technically a license is required to shop here but the public is allowed to shop here w/a day pass. I was amazed by the merchandise they had stocked here, everything from meats, chicken, fish and produce to canned and bottled goods in bulk quantity @ wholesale price. Realistically unless you own a restaurant or a huge family the quantities are too much. An example is boneless skinless chicken thighs for $0.72/lb great price right? But they come in a box of 40lbs. Unless you have a restaurant, an empty freezer or maybe split it w/Family and/or friends or you really really love boneless skinless chicken. That's a great price $28.80 for 40lbs of boneless chicken thighs. They have a huge selection of meats. Some of the fish & seafood is also below market value so it pays to know your prices. I just bought boneless chicken thighs for $1.29/lb @ Jerry's Fruit Market which is usually much less then the big box grocery stores. That's 56% of the cost @ Jerry's. The only problem is 40lbs is too much for most families. Next time I come back I will make sure that I have room in my freezer, have a list of what I need & get a day pass.

So my brother told me about this place, really interesting if you have a small army to feed or having a block party . Prices are great they sell for the mass quantities and you can buy a few things individually. They sell whole goats a supply of seafood lobster tanks , fresh shrimps clams . I bought Sunkist crab shelled for 8 bucks a pound . Couldn't taste it because I found out I had COVID . They sell dairy blocks of cheese , milk cream vegetarian milk . They have a pretty decent selection of frozen seafoods and frozen meals. A big array of spices Some Mediterranean fry goods small selection of Asian. Dry goods 100 lb bag varieties of rice. Fry goods fresh pasta in the big freezer . Prices are good not on everything but most things. Check it out if you have a big walk-in or eatery . I want to go back when I can start entertains again .

Or I could have searched Yelp for a noteworthy shaving goods store($$$). Instead, I found a shop where barbers and stylists go to buy their goods en masse. A trading shop per se, with products from all over the world and pricing from cheap to expensive. The shop is setup like those created for merchandisers, shop owners, and those buying in bulk. It's not pretty nor are products setup in a brilliant display. A shop keeper is on hand and not in view when one enters the store. There are racks upon racks with nondescript items piled. Tell the shopkeeper what you're looking for and off you go. So what'd I get? I was shown a number of flat blade razors. Some super cheap, some super pricey and others in-between. He mentioned having the old style and the newer. The older style is a safety razor which is a one-time use blade. Looks easy to use but also seems to be wasteful. I opted for a cheap plastic import which uses disposable blades. I paid about $11 dollars for two items and I have blades that will last me for the next couple years! (Blades used in this sort of shaver are ultra thin and create less waste than what's purchased for say a Gillette or Schick type razor). I'm using Youtube to teach me how to use the blade. The shopkeeper only knows so much..

Ever since, if someone asks me where I got the tools to cut my hair, this is the place. The prices were cheaper than I have seen anywhere else. There is many deals there that as real as you can get. Her brother Ed lives in Quezon City w/his daughter and 3 grandkids. 2 girls and 1 boy. My wife calls frequently to check up and see how he's doing (I mean even if there was a problem he wouldn't tell her). So anyway she was talking to him last night to see how he's doing and if there were any specific items that he needed. The 7 year old granddaughter was asked if she wanted anything. She doesn't want anything like a Barbie doll she wants an i phone X. Yeah right let's get her a $1000 i phone X. Maybe one for her sister too lol. We recently found out after years of driving by that it is open to the public. This coupled by our plans to go to the Philippines early next year we ventured into the building that houses Advance Distributors to see if there was anything we could find. Upon entering we found row after row of merchandise some of value and others not so much (kind of like a giant flea market). I met one the owners Vijay who told me they have been there since 1974. It was originally owned by his father and now he & his brother run Advance Distributers. He told me he would give me a discount, but much of the discount is volume driven and I didn't need to buy more of certain items. Unfortunately there wasn't much that we needed from the store & many of the items that were name brand items I have bought when on sale at other stores at lower prices.

If that sounds like you, this is the place for you. That's doubly so if you want both absurd and designer fragrances at discounted prices. Once in a while, things cost the same as at a regular store (hello, seasonal candy), but generally these are Five Below prices. Some things are sold in bulk for even more savings--nag champa super hit is a steal here! I like to come here for packing and mailing supplies. Never spend $5 for a roll of packing tape again! Bubble mailers of all sizes are $1.50 for two! These are the exact same things you'd buy at the UPS store but without the steep markup. The staff is a whole lot friendlier, too. It's also good for coloring books--so cheap, and some kids just go right through them. Now, the downside. They sell out of things fairly often. The place is not beautiful. You get dollar store quality for many items with dollar store prices. There's often only one type of a given item, so if you don't like the color on hand, tough cookies. It's close to both the Lawrence and Pulaski buses, but not the train or bike racks, and parking a car can be a pain. Keep your expectations low and your mind open to have the best possible shopping experience here.
