I have to say I have been to Cook Brothers Warehouse years ago and I wasn't truly impressed, but the other day when I took a good look around I was happy I gave Cook Brothers another chance. I got a great garlic press(.49) and a whisk(.49) and I was so surprised at how sturdy they both were. I also got a new cart (16.90) on sale it is normally(18.90) cheaper than Amazon so I was happy to find a new cart that was inexpensive but seems to be sturdy. They did have another cart there for (69.90) and I hope that one goes on sale because it was the Cadillac of carts and it was definitely sturdy. This is something I can't wait to get soon especially if I can find it on sale. They had a lot of name brand items for a very good price. The staff was great and the variety of items made me a fan. This afternoon I was invited to the "Cook Brothers" residence, or I should say, the warehouse. Technically, I invited myself since there was no need for membership. It's located adjacent to the Burlington Coat Factory. I've passed by this area several times by bus, yet I never paid attention to the existence of this place until I found it on Yelp. To be honest, there was nothing really exciting. Don't expect CBW to be an urban version of "Co*tco," because there will be no fresh produce and agricultural products sold here at CBW. You are correct! There's no gas station here, either. All you see is some inexpensive everyday essentials, perhaps many of them are manufacturers' overstocks. Do NOT assume that everything they sell is at its best price. "If you wanna be somebody, if you wanna go somewhere, you better wake up and pay attention." Yes, Sister Mary Clarence is reminding you to do some comparison shopping. I noticed several major brand body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are better deals at drug stores when purchasing them on sale. I scored Some Arizona tea and Jarritos soft drinks for $0.69/ea. By the way, Cook County charges 12.25% sales tax on sodas. It's slightly annoying because what's wrong with irresponsible citizens who want to be unhealthy? Government should be hands off on mandating the change on personal behaviors. Thank you for letting me express my Libertarian viewpoint. However, this place is pretty good if you're looking for some random bric-a-brac. Security personnel for CBW is quite tight. Well, this part of Humboldt Park isn't the safest part of the city. Cook Bros 1740 N Kostner Chicago Il was trying to deliver an oversize sofa to a tenant, they delivery guys went through the rear where the door measure 35 inches, they couldn't made the turn to get the sofa into the building. Other companies had no problem bring in furniture through the back. In the process the deliverymen damage the neighbors lower siding of his porch. Also, the rear spring door, they push the clip so hard its jam against the closure and cant be release without breaking it off. Next the delivery men went to the front, where the door measures 29 inches, I saw them pushing and shoving the sofa into the door, damages the side of the wooden door, another guy remove the side light to get the sofa in. They had to take the sofa back, there's no deliveries via the front hallway which is narrow and the furniture will not make the turn without damages the walls or breaking the window. This men were not experience enough to figure it out, otherwise they would have been able to manually carry it through the back, regardless they had no measuring tape, dolly or straps to carry the sofa. Right away I called Cook Bros on the damages, Evelyn said to send her pictures which I did, saying they will be repairing some items. I told her all items should be fixed or replaced. Its been 3 weeks and Evelyn or her Support Department doesn't return calls, emails, or have reach out to me. Run from this store, they do not take responsibility for the damages done by their sloppy careless workers. Go somewhere else. read more

You can't have to many go-to places for ________. There is a good deal and wiiiiide variety of different kinds of things. Not everything is of the highest quality, hence the commanding low prices, but there is a good deal of decent stuff that I would buy there. Electronics and basic major appliances? Sure. Same of the somewhat-far-flung-I-never-heard-of-brands? Mmm, maybe not. For food and household toiletries and cleaning products, you're going to find basically the conventional stuff. Don't bother coming here looking for organics or non-gmo food or cleaning products that are Earth-friendly, etc. Its a basic nuts-and-bolts store. The furniture and clothing is not targeted to the demographic areas of, say, between North Ave up Lake Shore to Montrose then east to the river, though it might hit people of more eclectic taste. The quality of the furniture, from the several pieces I checked out more from curiousity was not of the highest quality, but if not abused, should last. They do carry a good selection of the Latno products sold in the ethnic sections of grocery stores. Lots of toys. Good place to go for party stuff for kids. For the lack of a better word, this place is ghetto! No membership needed to purchase there! Bag packs, diaper bags, and shopping bags from other stores must be "checked in" and left with customer service before allowed to enter what they call the "showroom". A security guard and customer service area "greets" consumers upon entry. Perhaps these employees are used to a certain population or they are just tired/ irate towards closing time. Based upon reviews, electronics are refurbished; hence the liquidated prices. If that's the case, I'd rather buy brand new items that have warranties. I usually buy clothes, toiletries, cleaning products, snacks and drinks with labelled expiration dates, & school supplies. Even sells varieties not sold any grocery stores. It's pretty much a hit or miss. Today i bought 3 Bebe panties for $10. Arizona Iced Teas for 60 cents each (red apple with ginseng tea & mango flavor Arnold Palmers). I can't say I was wowed or that I walked away with anything awesome but I did find household items like tissue and cleaning supplies for really cheap and Costco sized offerings of the adobo seasoning that we like. This could be a good place to go if you were moving into your first place and needed somewhere to get some cheap kitchen items like glasses, and small appliances. They have a 30 day return policy so if it truly is crap...take it back. The furniture prices here are great just be careful the brand you choose because you get what you pay for. If you can get a whole queen bedroom set for $150 just keep in mind your dressers will stop opening and closing correctly before a yr. They offer a payment plan for furniture that claims no interest if your furniture is paid off in 90 days. They do not tell you if you are 1 day late for your payment, or if your card declines, the 90 day same as cash offer is NULL and VOID and you are stuck paying off like $1000 more than what your purchase was actually worth. Service is rude though. Very rude. There was no furniture manager/ supervisor on staff until after 3p, and there was no general manger or supervisor on staff until after 3p. Would really like to give this place 4 or 5 stars. Bought a bedroom set. Very good price. Had it delivered and assembled. The guys came in time, but slapped everything together. They left a huge mess tracked dirt in everywhere, unloaded boxes and threw them all over the apartment, left parts in the boxes , and left without cleaning up or removing the material they came with. This was a heavy 8 piece set so it came in huge thick boxes that took 2 people almost 3 hrs to break down. I don't recommend buying furniture from here. I was at the store from 12pm-5:30pm to get an approval for finance when I was told it can be done in 20min. They charge you for installation 30$ plus for shipping 80$. I got a table & a couch from here the couch leg wouldn't screw in and when I called management she said that's how some of there couches are. Like really?? That's how some are made!??? Then they offered to come fix it in the oddest hours of the day and I have to rush home from work to let the guys in and I didn't make it on time due to traffic and they left. I went here one Friday night in January to check it out because the last time I've been in CB was when it was at Ashland/Fulton, back in early 02. It seems as if this place has really added some merchandise, probably because this is a bigger facility (use to be a Kmart). One large food section I see. This store accepts all forms of payment including the diminishing check acceptance stuff (I'm glad that's diminishing anyway). Anyway, I love the prices that this place still offers. I love how clean it is and how clean it stays. I rarely cross paths with any evil, no-manners fools at this place. The cashiers and employees are really helpful and friendly as well. Dont buy electronics from Cook Bros. they are all refurbished which means they been repaired in order to be sold again. They purchase these items from auctions and you are taking a risk. Due to it being refurbished companies will not warranty or repair the merchandise. If you buy it and take it out the box and screen is broken its yours you can not return it to the store. Most of the companies who fix these tv's don't do a very good job so the device won't last long. Besides you can buy a newer tv elsewhere on sale for around the same price. read more

This is a warehouse outlet store. It is not a good looking store, it is a working warehouse and the boxes are in the aisles. Very good deals on some general merchandise. They have toys, food, furniture, kitchenware etc... Some of the items are not very good quality, some are. Take the time to go thru this giant building and you'll find at least a few things like I did. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this store before. I LOVE COOK BROS.. mainly because around x-mas time you can get lots of toys for kids under the age of ten for a cheap price. My kids love the toys and they have lots of toys under the tree to choose from. I also love their furniture. They have a big display of furniture and household things. I think that Cook Bros. have something for everyone no matter if you have a little or a lot of money. I love the new Cook Bros. warehouse because the old warehouse was so small you wouldn't even want to go there because there was no space to move around and little parking.
