My wife had a small issue today, she left a bag behind at the register tonight with our dinner in that bag. She drove home discovered one of two store bags was missing. So she called the store, the operator who barley spoke English rubbed her the wrong way. Now she's on the phone with a very nice young lady who was the store manager. Freida was her name, was very professional, she explained she would talk with the phone operator to work on his phone skills, and also speak with the register person to make sure clients get all their bags while checking out. Freida apologized overand over, and gave my wife a small gift for the inconvenience which she really did not have to do. I just wanted all of you to know, yes there is customer service at this Walmart, and I wish Freida and all her staff Happy Holidays! She made my day. read more

This Wal-mart may not be as fancy as some of the other Wal-marts and quite behind in decor compared to the Target on Dundee, but it serves its purpose. It has a while selection of goods at good prices and long hours. If there was not a Target, Office Max, Kohls, and Best Buy nearby, the lack of selection in some areas would be an issue but overall these stores complement each other well. read more

I go here every once in a while for select items, and while the prices are good, the shopping experience is not. Getting in and out of the lot is difficult. The only stop light is the one on Rand and it gets backed up frequently. The area is not that great and I am always on edge when I go there. The other day I went there to get some office supplies and the section was a mess. I couldn't figure out which items were which prices. Now I only go there if I absolutely have to. Coming from someone who is cheap, it's worth paying more to have a better experience. In Walmart's case the expression "you get what you pay for" holds true. read more

I've been to many Walmarts in the US and this one has to be one of the worst. Store is old and dated. Merchandising is disorganized. I recently saw a supervisor snapping at all his employees in front of customers. Took me 10 minutes to find someone to get the pictures I had printed and then he couldn't find my pictures because he couldn't remember how to spell my name after repeated reminders. I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews. I quite like this Walmart. I make it one of my mandatory stops when I'm in the burbs! It just seems newer, cleaner and more organized than some of the other locations. Plus, Walmart has come a loooooong way as far as fashion is concerned. I'm quite the Frugal Fashionista -and I've recently picked up some really cute finds on the cheap! Miley Cyrus has teamed up with Max Azria and has a whole line of ballet flats, cute T-shirts and really inexpensive accessories. Overall, they have some cute basics and really low priced swim suits. Plus, it's Walmart -you can get all your cosmetics, household items -they have everything. Plus, it's right by some good restaurants (Baja Fresh, Sushi Station) so I usually make a fun shopping day out of visiting there! read more

The most worst Walmart ever, the store itself is very dirty and just has a bad vibe to it. They remodeled recenly and expanded the food area, but compressed the other areas. The aisles are narrower and sometimes difficult to navigate. This store has 15 possible checkout registers, but I have never seen more than four cashiers at any time. Even before Christmas. The last time I was there, there were no baskets available, and the remaining carts were tied together or stuck together. The rest were in the parking lot. A lot of items on the shelf have no corresponding price label (or a wrong label). read more

If you were to purchase an oil filter & Full-Synthetic oil @ Walmart, it'll cost you about $30-$40, add on the $10 oil change price that they USE TO charge & BAM! you're getting a Full-Synthetic oil change for HALF the cost! Now, they charge you $49.95 for the Full-Synthetic Oil Change! Absurd! This is how you lose customers! I changed insurance companies to get a better price & now I have to use the Walmart pharmacy. I have only had to use it twice, but both times I had bad experiences. They ranged from telling me my Medicare number wouldn't work (I wasted several hours on the phone with Medicare & Social Secuity, only to go back to Walmart & find that the employee had entered an incorrect number into their computer. Then they wanted me to sign a release form that was in Spanish because she couldn't find an English form. Today I tried to pick up a prescription my doctor had called in & was told they didn't have it. (Found out they did have the prescription, they had not filled it yet,) I asked to speak to the pharmacy manager, but she just didn't care. I went in for a few items, one of those being a compact umbrella. It was on clearance for 5$ & so I figured why not? Near me the weather has been unpredictable. There were 2 left & I grabbed the better of the two. Needless to say the one I grabbed had no price tag. At the register I inform Fe (the cashier) that the umbrella is marked as 5$ clearance. She then says 'This is a good umbrella, it is not 5$ it's probably 10$' So I respond by telling her where I got it & let her know there is another just like it MARKED 5$. She then goes to get it, but brings back a different umbrella. Same brand just different style. This one is marked for 10. I tell Fe that the umbrella she brought is not the same. She assures me because it's the same brand it's the same price. She cuts me off when I try to rebuttle by saying 'should I bring my manager to tell you?? It's 10! You want it?' At this point I am super frustrated. This was suppose to be a quick stop for 5 items! I have her get her manager while I go get the umbrella I know is marked. When I get back her manager starts telling me that the umbrella (she thinks I want, the black one) is 10 because it's a 2016 new edition. I try to explain to her calmly that I don't want the black one that I brought the blue one. She won't hear me she's yelling at me now that I'm holding up the line & that she doesn't have time for this. That she can't have a line for one person. While Fe the cashier is telling me 'if you saw this one had a price why you no bring the one with price' I tell her that I brought the one I thought was best for me. Remind her that I'm the customer and I get to choose which one I prefer. I even point out where in the seam the other umbrella is ripping. She won't hear it. She begins to say I'm being rude & disrespectful. That I should tell her manager 'thank you' for matching the price. I'm so beyond offended with this horrific display of customer service that I begin to tell them how ridiculous this whole thing is. Tell them that they did me no favors because I'm still only buying my item for what it is marked & not a reduced price like they make it seem. I ask the manager for her name (Pharneet) & she responds with 'you don't mention Fe, only me' I remind her again that they are both involved in my negative experience & that I will be contacting corporate. Not only were they horribly rude too me, but they also embarrassed me infront of the ppl behind me. By telling them 'I'm sorry for this' & pointing at me! Is it just me or is this one of the grubbiest, grimiest Wal-Marts that I've ever been to? Oh Wal-Mart, how you've let yourself go. Went in today, and the floors are filthy through the whole place, piles of crap in the aisles, shelves are generally messy and disorganized. A couple of years ago when the economy tanked they did a decent job of uncluttering the store and culling the extra piles of merchandise, but holy crap it is back now and in full force. And the parking lot was even really bad with slop everywhere, compared to nearly everywhere else that has been able to deal with this crazy Chicago winter. All that, and the prices I saw for ordinary goods were not all that great. They're competitive but not the lowest prices I've seen for stuff. It looks like they might be emphasizing the grocery store stuff and just not bothering with the rest of the place. Someone needs to get in here and crack the whip and get the place cleaned up. Either get people to step it up and do some work, or get more people on the clock just so they can maintain the place. When the economy turns around people will be ditching this place as fast as possible and upgrading to Target. read more

I've gone at least 3 times in the past couple of months and each time I go, I have to stand there and wait. When I find an employee, they tell me they are short-handed and that I just have to wait. The last time I went, I was 8 months pregnant and really did not want to wait. However, if you want your item you have no other choice. 3 times was too many though. The worst Walmart I have ever been In!!!!!!!! First off everything is just thrown in aisles. No order at all. Adults are not marked or they are marked wrong. I walked up to an employee and asked where the frozen broccoli was. She looked at me very puzzled so I asked again and she said they don't sell that there. I wish I could give this location zero stars because of their pharmacy ALONE. I always give them plenty of time, I mean hours, to fill a prescription. I kindly ask them to have it ready by the time I get off work. Every time, without question, my prescriptions are NEVER ready! They've then told me twenty minutes so I milled around the store. Let me start by saying, thank you to the women of customer service today for eventually realizing that the guy had no idea what he was doing and taking such good care of us after dealing with this guy. I bought a pair of the clip on sunglasses from the vision center a few weeks ago. The lady that helped me was phenomenal and took the clip ons out of the packaging to make sure they fit. She even was nice enough to dispose of the garbage for me. About two weeks later the sunglasses broke. So today I went in to exchange them, with my receipt in hand. The vision center was unable to complete the transaction so I was sent to customer service to make the exchange. The guy, Doug, was ridiculous. He informed me that I couldn't make the exchange without the packaging, which I never had due to the fact that the vision center threw it away the day I bought the clip ons. I tried to explain this to him. He said the exchange was still not possible. I tried to explain to him that they were broken as it had only been a couple weeks. He said no. I tried to say that I didn't want any money back I simply wanted a new pair. He refused. My wife Peg asked him, " So what is he supposed to do? Keep a broken pair of sunglasses and pay for another pair simply because he doesn't have the garbage they were packaged in in the first place?" He said yes. I looked to the customer service representative as she had overheard my wife and asked her if I could exchange them, something Doug should have done himself. The woman said absolutely and proceeded to exchange the glasses for us. I've worked in retail and customer service my whole life, selling women's shoes. I suggest you train Doug on proper procedures and to ask for a second opinion before he repeatedly tells a customer he can't do something that could obviously be done. read more

I bought a cart full of groceries and they had no check out people, no lanes open only self-serve! I asked why and the employees said that everyone's hours got cut so now u have to scan yourself! Young guy of Asian/Hispanic descent at the auto counter is a pathological liar. He tries to upsell everyone there on air filter changes and fuel injection cleaning. He talked me into getting the fuel injection cleaning until the guy who was installing my new tires (Sean) informed me that this was unnecessary and that my engine was running perfectly. The guy at the counter had told me earlier that he had walked by the car and smelled gas, which I know was a lie when he admitted later that he had never seen the car. It didn't sound right anyway, since I park the car in a garage every night anyway and would've smelled any leak of that kind. When I told the counter guy I didn't want the fuel injection cleaning, he told me the other guy was "bluffing." Really? Why would he do that? The kicker: as I was leaving I asked about the store warranty. He told me that there wasn't one (even though the receipt and Walmart.com clearly indicate there is one) and once again tried to upsell me on a road hazard warranty. This guy obviously is under some sort of incentive to sell every add on he possibly can. At least my tire guy was honest, and he seems to have done a good job installing my tires. Update: It turns out that all four tires were mounted incorrectly (they have asymmetrical tread, so one side needs to face inward). They managed to get this wrong on all four tires, despite the fact that there's a 50/50 chance of getting it right. And the left rear tire was leaking badly since the rim wasn't cleaned properly when mounting the tires. It took a trip to the Waukegan Walmart to fix these issues, and another trip there a couple days later to fix another leak in the same left rear tire when a leak developed at the valve stem. Since the valve stems are installed when the tires are, the stem may not have been installed properly to begin with. I should've gone to Waukegan to begin with. The palatine store couldn't be much worse. read more

They are very bad at pricing at this store and even when the entire shelf is wrong they will make you feel like you are a low life who switched the prices themselves. When I came here, the staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable (even lower than reasonable in most cases!) I gave this place a bad review though, because after I left I got this weird pain in... I don't want to in say my heart... ...in my soul? It hurt a lot, and once the pain faded to a dull throbbing I just felt sorta empty and lonely and no matter how many showers I took or how much I cried this feeling wouldn't go away. I went back to this Walmart when Rand Rd got torn up with construction and I couldn't run to the Lake Zurich Walmart like I usually do. I figured, "How bad could this place still be?" I had sworn off of it a cpuple of years ago when I discovered the LZ Walmart. That's a mistake I vow I will never ever make again. The store is filthy, the aisles are narrow, the staff is WORSE than they used to be, and the clientele has gone DOWNHILL! Frankly, when 3/4 of the police blotter column in the newspaper features incidents at that store every week, its some kind of sign from above. I'd rather get up at 2 AM to avoid the traffic on Rand and shop at the Walmart in Lake Zurich. Taxes are cheaper too! read more
