Walmart - Department Stores Near Me - Livermore, California

I have been going to this Walmart for years. But now that they are locking everything up, I will not be going back. Waiting for someone to unlock the items is a joke because when you ring the bell, nobody every comes to unlock. I asked 2 employees for help and nobody knows where the key is. I just wanted carpet cleaning solution. Really, hire security . I left the store and went down the road to Target, where I did not have to have anyone, unlock the items they are trying to sell me. Also with the homeless living in the parking lot at Walmart, I am no longer comfortable going by myself. The last 2 times I was in the Walmart parking lot, I had people approaching me, trying to sell me fruit and vegetables. read more

The card readers at registers are hit or miss. I've heard from other customers and even some Walmart employees at other locations that they also had problems with the card readers at Walmart. Unfortunately, the card readers were not accepting my debit card on this day. Though my card worked perfectly fine at other establishments, two Walmart employees immediately told me I needed to get a new card. I actually got a new card for this reason, but the problem remains and only at Walmart. I was asked to move to a different register. When moving to the other register, I was stopped by traffic of customers trying to leave the store. When this happened, the front team leader rudely said I needed to follow her. It was surprising that I had to explain I couldn't follow her at that time due to the traffic leaving the store, but I would continue to follow as soon as the pathway cleared. Unfortunately, the card reader at the next register didn't work either. I was then told my card was locked and I needed to call the bank, which was also not the case. The store front team leader said in a rude tone, "if you want to pay for this, you need to take your son out of the cart and go to the atm. You can't take the cart." I was also using the cart as a stroller for my 20-month-old son. When I came back to the register with cash from the ATM inside the store and a crying son, there was nobody there to help me. Once the team leader returned, I would have needed to scan my items for a 4th time. After 30-40 minutes of waiting to pay, I left the items at the register and walked out of the store. Not a review about Wal-mart practices since we know how bad they are. However, one of my guilty pleasures is taking Wal-mart field trips whenever the boyfriend takes me home to his family in Livermore. This happens once or twice a month, so it's my excuse to escape his family for just a little bit. There's a lot to look at. For the most part, if you're a bargain hunter, you'll find it there. But believe you me, their $1.95 wine is best unbought. Stick with two-buck Chuck at Trader Joe's if you're going cheap on the wine. In terms of shopping experience, I don't have too many complaints. When every other place in the area ran out of holiday lights, we were able to find a few boxes at Wal Mart - not many left, considering it was about ten days until Christmas. A handful of months back, we bought our BM bikes there, and the person helping us out was VERY helpful. He happily assisted us in getting the bikes up and down the top racks when we were deciding between multiples about fifteen minutes before closing. So all in all, A-OK. read more

Night and Day. That's the difference between this Walmart and the one on Hegenberger. Oh that and the fact that there are no roaming bands of CD peddlers or the 'Flea Market in a Trunk' sellers. But there is the convoy of RV's at the back of the lot. I think I've even seen people in their lawn chairs enjoying an evening cocktail or three. I do like this Walmart cuz they kicked McDonalds to the curb and installed Subway; a much healthier alternative. I finally did the thing I said I would NEVER do. No, I'm not talking about anal sex, perverts! I'm talking about shopping at Wal Mart. Although, I could see how there might be similarities between the two. More on that later. Since I've never been shopping at a Wal Mart, I don't really have a good idea of how this particular store measures up against the rest. I am a Target shopper. My first impression is that Wal Mart is a cheaper, messier version of my beloved Target. Cheaper in both prices and quality of merchandise. I managed to buy some staple goods here, but wouldn't really buy clothes like I would at Target. Much like I would imagine anal sex to be, my Wal Mart shopping experience was at times painful. And I could swear that I smelled shit at some point. Probably due to the dirty, snot-nosed kid running around barefoot with a huge load in his diaper. Zero stars. I swear to God, if I wasn't broke, I would completely and totally avoid this place like the plague. I have had nothing but horrible experiences in here and I curse out loud when I find myself walking in their doors. Every single time I am at this Walmart, something extremely unpleasant happens to me. There is a sign posted saying that you can now find razor blades behind counters 15 & 16 and so sorry for the inconvenience. So I head over there and I ask the girl at register 15 if I can get the razors now and continue my shopping or if I have to purchase them there. She didn't know. So supervisor lady or whoever she is waltzes over and tells me that you have to purchase them then and there, no putting them in your cart. Seriously? Is it a theft issue? That all them poor dangnabbit people out there are stealing razors? Is it the emo kids that no longer want to live on this earth perhaps? So I proceed to tell her that I have more shopping to do, and that I check out on the other side of the store so it's inconvenient for ME as a CUSTOMER to come all the way back to the front, and I just might forget them all together. That's when rude ass bitch tells me; "I can write it down for you if it helps you remember." Ooh. Like 100% juice for $2.56 (compared to $4.29 at nearby Wrongway) Milk $3.00 a Gallon. Berkley Farms too, not lucerne. Pet items are close to 50% off what you pay at one of the big name stores too. I'm normally not a fan of "the Walmart" but you can't really beat the prices they offer. However, this Walmart made me want to punch someone, and that doesn't happen very often. While in search of some saucer chairs, the big round chairs with nice cushions, my boyfriend and I found ourselves looping the entire store several times. Our first search of the chairs didn't go so well, so we decided to ask for some help. Not only were there no workers in sight, the one we did manage to find had a hard time speaking English. She didn't bother looking at us when we kindly asked if they had this item, and it was in the designated "home furnishings" section. She said they didn't and went back to stocking whatever it was she was stocking earlier. Ok, so maybe we'll ask the customer service. One person was working there and there was a long line. We were lucky enough to be number 3 in line but after 15 minutes of waiting, no one moved. The lady seemed clueless in terms of returning some guy's money and all the employees that came behind the counter went straight to sorting out items. I wanted to say, "Hello? Do you not see this growing line of people? We just have one question." But, alas, I didn't. We decided to try one last time to find some one. This one guy let me give "the Walmart" one star, otherwise I would have given negative. He was nice to us and tried to help us find the item. However, his supervisor was yelling at him to help some people at the pet department right when he was helping us. She just stood there telling him "those two girls need help now." Why she couldn't take two measly steps into that aisle and help them herself.... I don't know. To cut this miserable story short, we left with some ziplock bags and tennis balls but no saucer chairs. Next time, I think we'll call ahead... don't trust the website either. It says the chair we were looking for was in stock at that particular store, which is why we went there to begin with. I go to this Walmart at least 4 times a month. I really don't understand all of the bitchy reviews that are written about it. It's fuckin Walmart, people...these reviews are seriously just horrendous. You go there because it's cheap, not because you expect it to look like some trendy mall store whose parking lot is full of 'Mercs and Beamers. Think about it...the people who work in department stores like Macy's or Nordstrom's don't work any harder than the blue collar folks at WallyWorld. In fact, they are lazier in my opinion...but I will always side with the blue collar folks. The store itself is fine. It's not ghetto. You can find what you need at lower prices than most other stores, and these days, we are all looking for the best prices on the everyday staple items that we use. My only complaint is their business model of wiping out all the competition, be it other major chains such as CVS and Target or the Ma & Pa shops. It's the squashing of the Ma & Pa's that really bothers me. WallyWorld is a corporate giant, and as such, it cares not for the little guys...the bottom line is what counts. All of the people who have shopped here and written shitty reviews need to visit the WallyWorld in Union City. Go see what it's like to shop in a real ghetto Walmart with shit thrown everywhere and bangers around every corner. And as far as employees not speaking English, I have never had a single incident such as this. I agree with other reviewers who have said that we should all be happy that the people who are working at this store are gainfully employed and not leeching off of welfare. One word: training. If two are on sale: customer service. So, we're in line with our paltry handful of items (50% Halloween stuff, y'know?), and third in line. That'd be pretty okay, except the folks just finishing had paid cash -- apparently folks still do that, but anyway. They handed the hapless cashier Tally (so his nametag told us) a $100, for which he didn't have enough change. He called for a change. So far good, right? With a total of five other people in line, I thought so. Oops, no -- rather than help the next woman in line, he instead sat down on a chair there at the register in the garden center. And sat, and sat. Didn't acknowledge the rest of us, apologize for the delay, nothing. Just sat, staring at the floor as though it were broadcasting the news in HD. The door greeter told the line that automotive has a register and rarely a line. Super-duper, we headed over there, and even with two customers ahead of us there, we were out of the store and walking to our car just behind the woman in front of us at the original register. (So yes, Virginia, (a) there is a Santa Claus, and (b) Tally really did make his line wait about 11 minutes to check out.) Ugh. Thankfully, Target now offers their 5% off on everything with their credit/debit cards, so we'll happily continue veering to the big red dot store that can keep a line moving. read more

This is not a review about how Walmart has destroyed America or how they got ol Ma and Pa out of their stores. This will be about the store itself. I'm not a huge fan of walmart. The atmosphere is bleak and makes for a weird and/or depressing shopping experience. Although, what other store can you just wake up and dress up in some old sweats and look like the normal clientele? That is awesome. Sometimes you dont want to look groomed in public and going to walmart is definitely one of those times. Anyways, i go there for electronic or digital media. Sometimes i may pick some odds and ends. The best part is that if i need something and its either too late or early to go somewhere else, chances are that they are open and have it. IF - I could, I would give this Walmart location 10 stars!! I went and came back, maybe 5-10 minutes ago and I must say, "I am VERY impressed with this Walmart compared to the one in Pleasanton." Pros: - Employees, Greeted me as I walked in. - Multiple (3-4) employees in the Electronics dept, which I did end up asking for help and found everything I came in looking for. - What I saw on their online store is what I found in their store. - Parking - plenty/smaller, wasn't a chaos during weekday morning. - It's the Holiday seasons therefore, you would find merchandises on sale. BIG plus - This Walmart location here in Livermore has Subway inside their store, which I thought was pretty cool!! The older lady working behind the Subway counter was very sweet and friendly. I did set off their security alarms too because the checkout lady, she wasn't able to deactivate the Electronic item I was buying, which she initially didn't tell me so when I first tried to walk out of the store, that's when the alarms went off. After I notified the checkout lady she said, "I tried to deactivate the security on your box, but .. I couldn't." She said, "Even if the alarm goes off, just walk through." So, I tried walking out of their Walmart the second time, which the alarm went off, other shoppers starring at me (SO embarrassing!!) , I looked for the checkout lady, which she saw me and said, "Just walk through. You'll be alright." I said, "Okay." Rofl At least, she was nice about it and everyone else, once he/she heard the, "Green Go" everyone continued on with his/her business. haha Overall, IF, I ever need something, which Pleasanton Walmart don't have, I will know which Walmart location to go to next time. read more

Uuuuugh. This is a review for the Livermore Walmart, although it might as well be any Walmart USA. I am qualified to review this store, as I have actually been there, but I wish I could say I've never stepped foot into it or any other for that matter. Sometimes you find yourself at Home Depot, in need of tooth paste or deodorant, and can't justify getting back in the car and driving to Target. It's amazes me that no matter where you are or how effluent the community, you find the same bizarre people at every Walmart. Where do these people come from? I never see this group of people downtown, or at the mall. They seem to congregate at the nearest Walmart. I suppose it's this same group that apply for jobs there too because they all seem to work there. I feel highly judgmental writing this, but it spawns from the icky feeling I get whenever I'm in a walmart and it finally occurred to me that it's the people. The store is bright (if not overly lit), the prices are low (as advertised), and they sell EVERYTHING. But I can't get past the vibe of the place, and for that they get one lonely star. If I had to choose between Wal-Mart or Target, I would go to Target. I remember the Livermore Wal-Mart when it first opened as it was the biggest thing that hit the town. I nver really shopped there because it always seemed dark and dirty to me. Recently I had returned there after so many years and it looks like they remodeled it, and it looks much better. The thing that has never changed are the workers and the people who shop there. Many odd characters at this one. On my recent visit, I saw three different people who were walking around barefoot, a midget lady who kept on talking about all the guys that loved her, and a 30ish year old guy who thought it was cool making fart noises through his armpits. When I go inside there, I feel like I left California and travelled to the cuts of Oklahoma or Nebraska. All the other stores in Livermore seem to have a normal clientelle though. read more

My favorite 1-stop-shop-all store to shop a variety of stuff from hair gel to car products to food to salt for the water softener and even to get oil change. Can't beat the prices. Not a big fan of their recently added "fresh produce" section. If they want to sell fresh produce also, they have to work harder or make it a Super Walmart. The oil change department is great. The technicians there are friendly and know what they are doing. Never have problem with the oil change there. I bring all my cars (except my M3) there for every oil change. Simple and no hassle. Wait time depending how many cars ahead of you but you can do shopping at the meantime so that's great. read more

Walmart and their ethics regarding employee treatment, wages, and unions are one reason I try to avoid all Walmarts. But there are somethings we do go there for. There are never any employees to be found at this store. And when you do find them, they're not very helpful. My main complaint-the customer service desk. Can't they have a line for returns, then a line for everything else. Last time I was there, there was one woman working customer service. I was trying to return something but the line was going NOWHERE because the guy she was helping was having trouble with a money order. This has happened on a few occasions. Check cashing and money orders tend to take way longer than returns, but everyone doing a simple return has to wait for these people. And it doesn't help that they never have more than two people working that desk, even though the line is usually 5+ deep. read more

You're better off ordering online or not going to this location at all- this staff is unacceptably rude!! I had multiple people get inches away from me and my husband's face with a "can I help you?" In a very rude tone, fine whatever they left us alone when we said we were continuing to shop. Then while looking through the movies there was a nice couple trying to get some baby formula from the case and I had over heard them ask one of the 200 employees they had today (seemed like it was shipment day) for help and the man said he could page someone to help. 10 minutes roll by and nothing, so they ask another employee and this woman responded with "I don't have the keys for that" AND WALKS AWAY FROM THEM? Clearly there's an attitude issue, they had to ask two more employees and wait another 20 minutes before getting any help and I was baffled. Finally we go up front to the self check out and start ringing our things and one of the things we purchased asked for a warranty so we added it on and paid for it. For whatever reason it did not charge us for the product but instead just the warranty and we didn't notice until the lady checking receipts pointed out- which is fine we had no problem going back and paying for the product but she made it a huge deal accusing us of stealing even though we showed her we paid for the warranty and have no idea why it didn't charge us but she contained to be extremely disrespectful about it and I frankly don't appreciate being accused of stealing when that was not our intentions at all. I see a number of other reviews talking about racially profiling as well so maybe walmart needs to have some type of tolerance training to get a better attitude and learn how to treat people. read more

A Walmart is a Walmart. The staff never ask if you need assistance. If you ask them, they are not too concerned of your needs. But I don't blame them given the environment they are working in. Be prepared to wait a long time if you do change your oil or tires here. They are usually very backed up. I took my Hyundai in one time to do an oil change, and the very next day I had problems with my radiator. I didn't have proof they were responsible, but I think it's quite a coincidence that my radiator had cracks in it the very next day after being there. In general, I try to avoid here and go to Target down the road. read more

Cleanest Walmart I've been to by far. The staff is always way more helpful than you'd expect at a Walmart. Not only do they tell you where the item is that you're looking for but on every occasion they have physically walked me over to the aisle and showed me other options. Check out is always simple, we never have to wait too long and the inventory is great as well. Love love love this place! read more
