Walmart in Maui? We came by to pick up some cheap souvenirs and macadamia nuts. Besides that, it's pretty bleh and feels somewhat lacking.

Less of a "people of Walmart" experience than I have had on Oahu, thankfully, however shelves seemed a little empty of certain things I was looking for and not quite the selection I have seen in other areas. I spent 500$ in this store and was completely treated like crap!!! I had a flat tire and was hoping someone would help me resolve my problems. Out of the whole auto center only one person was nice to me. Everyone was rude as hell and pretty much just tried to ignore me. They told me it was gonna be a 2 and a half hour wait. Ok fine so I go run errands with my spare on. I get back to the auto center and ask "did I make it back in time?" One of the men that I think was a supervisor turns around and yells at me "NOPE!!!!" I started crying since my morning was so stressful.. anyway so I finally get my car in and when I return to pick up my car I can't find it!! Now I'm with my granddaughter with a wagon full of stuff trying to find my car. Let me say this too, I've had many surgeries on my foot in the past year because I broke it badly needless to say I can't walk on it for long. I continue to search the back parking lot and I can't find my car anywhere. While this is going on all of the tire center is watching me and my granddaughter trying to find my car. I go behind the auto center and there's my car parked diagonally next to a matson container!! So my grand daughter and I are now in the very back behind a matson container loading my car with all the stuff I just bought in their lovely establishment. I even try to talk to the manager about how much I spent and how horribly I was treated and he just brushed it off didn't even care. I'm appalled with how I've been treated in this store that I shop at almost daily. And to not even care it's baffling made me feel like total crap. read more

Perfect place to buy souvenirs and for the most part at a cheaper price than the rest of the island. Would like to see more gifts especially gifts Made in Hawaii then the generic Made in China gifts. The big chocolate boxes are cheaper here than anywhere else in the island. read more

Out of all the Walmarts we've been to around the country, I would say this one has the least amount of stock. Their shelves are empty and we did not go there right before or after a hurricane. Even the simplest things was either sold out or just they just didn't carry it. It never used to be this way. I would suggest heading over to KMart down the road. This WalMart is great to go to when you forget something from Costco. Its also a great spot for us tourist to pick up souvenirs as they devote a whole section of the store for tourist. This is also a great place to get a feel for the local culture because all the locals shop here. read more

So Walmart has been on Maui for a long time now and everyone on the islands goes to the store at least once every so often. The store overall is big considering the size of most places on Maui but smaller compared to the ones in the US mainland. The layout in the store is like any other Walmart thing are easy to find and cheap. The store overall is clean if you take in consideration how much people come go in on one day. The customers service isn't outstanding but it's okay for the most part. One thing they can really improve on is on answering phone calls, every time I call the store they just answer and try to transfer me but no one answers so I wait again for over 10 mins sometimes and they still won't answer and I call back same person answers and just transfers. Also the person they put at the door to check out every customer is a bit annoying for one, if they see you bought one item they still want to see the receipt. Like this isn't Costco for the longest time they never did this stuff on Maui and now all of a sudden everyone has to be checked out of the store like as if they stole something. Like come on Walmart make your security do something better, they just stand their all day hoping to catch someone. Like make walk around the store instead of leaving them in the exist. It's not like they will see all the items you bought in the receipt in less than 10 seconds. Despite some these things Walmart on Maui won't disappear anytime soon. Just improve the things people ask for. Went to get 4 new tires and oil change. Waited for angel the greeter and he was no where to be found. After talking to a cashier at the auto center to find someone for help he sent me back to find angel. I waited outside the bay doors. No one said a word or asked if I need help for over 29 mins. Went back into the store asked for help. Was told to go find it myself. I asked for a manager, was told the cashier was the only manager in the store for that day. So I took a walk and just a few feet away there was a manager WOW. I told him the problem and he went and found angel who told him to find someone else he wasn't going to do it. I then told them thanks,ok! I'll go else where. read more

Large Walmart on Maui... I'm sure they do well because of the economy. They have the usual assortment of items found in most walmarts, except they have a large assortment of good quality Hawaiian clothes and a large section of souvenirs. I liked the 2017 Hawaiian calendars for about 88 cents. One thing I didn't come prepared for was that most stores don't have plastic bags... Bring your own cloth bags for shopping. read more

We arrived in Maui 11/2 and I went to the Walmart to stock up our rental condo. Purchased a 1 qt cottage cheese. My wife opened it the next morning to find the seal broken and the contents disgusting and moldy. Really grossed her out. Then saw the expiration date was 10/1/18 - over a month before I purchased it. Wrote to Walmart so they could figure out how this happened. Only got back a note saying they would refund the purchase price. No reassurance that they would improve their quality control or provide an explanation as to how this was sold. This is probably one of the nicer Walmart that I have shopped in, the store is very clean and employees are friendly. This is a required stop once we land on Maui since we usually stay for several weeks. Walmart is a good place to stock up on your toiletries and sunblock at relatively inexpensive prices. They also have a nice section of the store that caters to tourists where you can buy souvenirs for friends and family back on the mainland. read more

Cleaner than most Wal-Marts. You do have to purchase your own bags at checkout for .50 each. I don't mind that at all but when you're not a local, it takes you by surprise. We're here on vacation so it was nice to stop here and grab a few things instead of hitting up Costco and buying in bulk. read more

I went here for inexpensive souvenirs. I ended up not buying anything major because the condition of the merchandise was so poor. I guess so many people rifling through the stuff left it in such disarray. I ended up going to a nice ABC store and getting high-quality stuff. The ABC store wasn't the cheapest place but at least I got what I wanted and didn't regret it. I guess Walmarts are the same wherever you go. This WalMart gives new meaning to the word overcrowded. If you need basic "big box superstore kine stuff" go to KMart for shorter lines and equal prices. The biggest issue with this WalMart is they run out of their products A LOT. And sometimes it takes months to replace them. read more

Not the prettiest Walmart in the islands, but it'll do. They have a shuttle from the cruise ship terminal, so that makes it super convenient to come here to load up on all the supplies you need. Also if you're on your way to Lahaina, come here to stock up as well before heading over. Way cheaper than all the other stores too. It's a Walmart, it has many things you need for low prices. We shopped here several times on our recent stay (also shopped at foot town, safeway, times, and other local places as well) and obv. Walmart is going to have cheaper prices for most things. This location is cleaner and more organized and well stocked than several locations back home. I never have to ask anyone for help because I always find everything I need so I cannot attest to the employee attitudes but we saw no issue in our experience at this location. read more

Some workers are very rude and bad costumer service. I was looking at something so i parked it next to me but it was on the side, the worker said "excuse me" twice and i tried moving it more to the side but there where no space, so what she did was she banged my cart and she was like "i told u excuse me" like i never moved it. This experience led me sooo unsatisfied with this store. Pretty disappointing. Some workers also give you a bad stare. Im only giving 1 star for this store because some workers are actually nice and i like the prices. read more

I came before the lunch hour. Fairly busy. A very limited veggie selection. Watermelons here were much cheaper than Costco but 25% smaller in size. The eggs are similar in price to most places except Costco. I purchased Spam, coffee, watermelon and toothpaste all at a great deal! Staff are roaming around and present if needed. All customers are checked upon exiting for a receipt. You must bring your own bags or purchase a bag for $0.50. Not for me since my hands and pockets worked just as well! read more

I live on Maui and almost every time I visit Wal-Mart the plant nursery is extremely neglected. I go there for gardening supplies but the plants, many of which are exotics, lovingly raised and distributed by local growers, are in poor shape. They are not watered, most are drooping noticeably. When I arrived today, all plants outdoors on display were so neglected they were dead. Indoors was not much better. When I walked into the store, I talked to the first employee I saw to ask if someone could water the plants. He said the plant watering person had been out sick for several days, there was nothing he could do. A few minutes later, I saw another employee: Derek, with a large Customer Service badge on his chest. I again asked about watering the plants, thinking he would be just the person to address my concerns. He scoffed at me, rolled his eyes and and said they had just been watered. After I made my purchases and walked back out through the nursery, I touched the plants and they were bone dry and dying. I found the built-in sprayer hose and took it upon myself to water as many plants as I could. So easy that any employee could have done it within minutes. Almost every customer that walked by thanked me for watering the plants. A vendor was there at the time and took a photo of me... a CUSTOMER... watering the plants. She said it was difficult to deliver her plants knowing they would not be taken care of. She sent the photo to the local Wal-Mart rep. read more

This Walmart deserves only negative stars. With it's poor customer service and very little options to choose from, I definitely lost my respect for this store. When we walked in I noticed right away that employees were not trying to help. I literally had to ask a man who looked like a local to show me where things are. But the worst happened at the register. Me and my sister in law were paying separately, I payed first, nothing special. But when my relative was trying to pay they refused to sell her a bottle of wine asking for an ID. Well she doesn't have one, she is from Russia. I take the bottle and try to pay myself. Oh no, I cant because now they seen me and her together and we are in the same party! Ahahaha!!! What!! I asked for a manager, she comes over, saying all this crap about she hopes we enjoy our stay and mahalo and aloha and stuff like that!!! WTF??? Sell me the wine!! Well later after arguing for 10 min, my sister in law actually found a Russian licence where she had her date of birth, we gave it to the " management", they checked it by the book, and just when they had no other reason to not sell us the wine, they came up with another one. It sounded something like this:" we won't sell you the wine because we have pesonal reasons"! Come again! Cause I never seen a sign in any walmart that would say " we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone because we have personal reasons". Soo after asking them the same question 5 times on what are those reasons, the " manager" actually told me " i am done here." not ones in my 7 years in America I heard management in any store say I am done here. It's like you would go to Nordstrom and they would not sell you what you wanted and tell you they personal reasons! Well that's impossible! At last I of course would not recommend this store to anyone. I feel very bad for people who can't afford more expensive thing and have to shop here. read more
