This isn't a bad Walmart but it is a busy location. The associates that I talked to were friendly to me and helpful. My photos were printed same day as I ordered them, making them very quick. I needed an SD card and it was the first I've experienced lately where I didn't have a huge wait to get something unlocked. The grocery side is a little weird, different from other Walmart stores. They do have plenty of options for all kind of things, sweaters, fruit, magnets. This is probably a good choice for buying souvenirs if you're looking for cost effectiveness. Something they could improve on is the self checkout lines. Other than the long checkout waits, there's a lot going on at the store location. Plenty of local goods found here too. read more

Terrible news... I saw a rat running around the shelves and it was disturbing. It only makes you wonder how the employees frequently clean that store. Even worse I saw birds flying all around the aisle po0ping on the food items. They should address that. Jars falling off the shelves in the store. No wonder the the carts could look like they could use some frequent cleaning. It's all super old and squeaky and dirty to touch. We saw couple of young children that were eating out of the cookies aisle without paying. Makes you thinkr if the employees are doing their jobs and how dirty their houses are. Yup, big box el cheapo store, but when on Maui there is very little else to choose from, especially if Amazon refuses to deliver and Target is out of stock. I needed a cat litter box, pronto, as my outdoor cat suddenly became an indoor cat after surgery. I looked at Petco but they were a tad expensive, I did consider an aluminium turkey pan, but decided to check Walmart and got a heavy plastic one that will be bleachable and reuseable for under $6....a steal! Their cat food is slightly cheaper than Petco and Target too so a few cans fell into my bag. Like any store you have to shop around for price matching, but for certain things Walmart is easily affordable. I bought every can of anchovies they had as they were 1/3 of the price I was paying in other stores (yes, it is an addiction!), I buy cranberry juice here in large bottles as they are cheapest on island, chips are usually cheaper and they have all the new flavours too, candy is well priced, cans of pickled beetroot, noodles, coffee, etc. Many tourists end up in Costco or expensive Safeway, they might want to look at Walmart to stretch their $ on Maui, plus they have a good selection of tourist tat to choose gifts to take home, including Mauiopoly! read more

Terrible, terrible, and MORE terrible! We are visiting from Lancaster, California. Visiting our Mom who is 85 and has lived her in Hiku for 45 years. Each year, we visit the employees get more and more RUDE. I waited for an employee to unlock a cabinet because I guess people here don't know how to pay for things. I waited 45 minutes after pushing the sales help button. I finally had to call the store and tell them that I was in the store and have been waiting for 45 minutes for someone to help me. She was fairly nice and professional. However, after waiting another 5 minutes an employee FINALLY showed up. She would barely look at me and when she spoke she whispered. It was clear that she hated her job and definitely hated me. I said hi to her 5 times and made her say hi back. She rudely says hi and then says "what do you want!" More of a command than a question. I tell her the products and it was like pulling teeth!! Then she grabs my cart and doesn't explain anything to me as she walks me and my cart to the cosmetic area and passes me off to a cashier there. I finally understood that they did not trust me as much as I didn't now trust them. This other employee was even more rude. I didn't think that would even be possible. I don't know if they just all hated their jobs or they just hated people who live off the island, probably both. I would give this Walmart zero stars if it was possible!! In the past couple of years, I've made Walmart one of my go-tos for shopping. The Kahului location really cleaned up its interior and their staff seems more attentive and smile more. Despite the in-store improvments, I prefer their curbside pick up service. It just fits my routine better. It's a lot less busy in the mornings before noon. Here's something odd: you know how Walmart stops you to check your receipt before you can leave the store? Not so with curbside. Just your name. And no ID! Other stores ask for a code or flash the app at them. I appreciate the speed of the pick up service. read more

Well stocked store that was an older style, but some food items were toward the center of the store. Aisles seemed piled high with merchandise, which was distracting and made the atmosphere feel "cramped." Garden department had adequate supply of plant material, but some of the cactus and succulents were priced higher than the competition. I love their drive up option and locals like myself usually know when is the best time to shop. 7/5/24 Today's adventure to Walmart: I didn't want to stop at Walmart in the middle of the day, on summer break beginning of the month, but I needed wiper fluid for my car and target didn't have it. I tried to be and out with my toddler but naturally I ended up in the baby section because of their clearance on clothes. I found some saucer chairs that I didn't see a price for so I asked an employee who was stocking nearby. She seemed super annoyed and mad at me for bothering her. She tells me "you don't see the price?" I replied "no, why would I ask you if I did?" She gets all dramatic and pulls all the chairs to the other end of the shelf and tells me "the price is on the side." She doesn't get out her little handy dandy scanner machine like they usually do. I don't know why I ask the employees anything when I'm there. It always seems like such an inconvenience and they always don't know or I get an attitude problem. I wish I could give them a ZERO. Customer service SUCKED and then when I tried to call they kept saying "how can I help you" and hanging up the phone (I called more than once and this happened more than once). I was trying to get someone to help me for about an HOUR. I ordered photos and they gave me someone else's ultrasound photos and I was trying to return them and get mine back AND MY MONEY. Those Filipinos were rude and incompetent. They look like they hate their job and they acted like it too. Shameful! Just called your HR, now I know where you workers get it from. Love the Walmart. No you would think you been in one Walmart there all the same. Not at all Walmart in the USA has way more cooler stuff to eat compared to Canada, by a long shot!!! Masks are mandatory upon entering. Had to top off on some groceries, such as eggs, bacon and bread. Of course you can't just leave with those items, we did the Isle shopping. We had to get sweet potato pie, flavoured marshmallows, monster mash cereal, Aloha soy sauce, cheese in a can! These are just some things you just can't get back in Canada. Was very busy this time around, everything went smoothly from the time we entered to the time we were at the register. Great experience over all. We noticed there was more security in the parking lot. Must be to deter any illegal behaviour. Other then that felt safe enough. read more

This is by the airport. Walmart is always our first stop off the airport to grab toiletries before checking in. I'd say it's same as every other Walmart but being that it's in Hawaii, it's got more Hawaiian themed items/gifts for the tourists. You can easily grab a souvenir here before heading home as well. read more

Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. While I was grabbing some souvenirs from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is massive. Lots of parking spots for y'all to choose from. Dear WalMart You are almost exclusively self-checkout now. The last time I was there the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone. I chose not to participate in that foolishness, so I just skipped the exit line and left. I heard her saying "Ma'am, Ma'am" as I kept walking. I simply raised my hand above my head and shook my receipt, as I kindly Ieft the store. You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place so they can resume the position. l'm not interested in the job, so if I fall short, oh well. I was able to pick up some delicious Li Hing Mui based candies. Definitely pass on the Sour Lychees belts, though. They were not sour and were severely lacking the Li Hing flavor. Since it is located close to the airport, one can stock up on the items they need before heading out to Lahaina, Kihue, etc.! read more

I haven't been to Wally Mart since the start of the corona virus related toilet paper hoarding fiasco, but just prior to that, I noticed a disapointing change that they made to the checkout lines. I haven't been a fan of self checkout since the concept began, years ago. There's something unsettling about a store assuming that I should want to do the work that they would normally pay someone else to do. Isn't that depriving someone of their job? With my self righteous stand of solidarity for the working class, I've avoided those do-it-yourself lanes. I also don't like having a machine tell me when to move items from one place to another and then arguing with me about whether or not I did move it. So, yes, it bothered me to see that our Wal-mart store re-designed the checkout area to include SO MANY MORE SELF CHECKOUT LANES. I understand that at certain times, that's your only choice, too. Shouldn't they be giving us a 5 or 10% discount for doing their work? What's next? Are they going to ask me to stock the shelves? Maybe they will want me to help them place the order for their next shipment from the mainland. I couldn't do any worse than they do. Half of the items I need always seem to be out of stock. At least they still pay a couple of people to stand at the exit and verify that the items in my cart match what's on my receipt. Be Warned Online ordering online is terrible, you place an order thinking you will get what you ordered, 50/50 chance you will get what you ordered, I placed roughly 18 orders and 9 were complete, as for the other 9 I was missing items, even after I called the store if the item was in stock, for instance I ordered 12 chocolate hagen daz, I called the store they stated 22 on hand placed the order, to my surprise I was delivered "1" this happened numerous times, talked to management, which was useless promises made that were not kept, My last order i placed a few days ago, roughly 16 different items, I ordered 3 boxes of jello insant pudding, I opened one box 3 cups milk came out perfect, following day went on a picnic I opened the two remaining boxes and 6 cups of milk to my suprise it never thickened, look at the box and those two boxes needed to be cooked, secondly I went to work for a few hours today ,came home fried up my pig of Nathan's Dogs and Saurkraut went to toast my Loves Hot Dog Rolls , to another suprise they were moldy, So that's why beware when you order online with Walmart 50/50 you will not get everything you ordered, and another chance on not getting exactly you ordered, and something that's spoiled, oh by the way one of those orders I ordered a 4pack of fresh corn which was slimy Target might charge a bit more, but you get exactly what you ordered read more
