Parking is plentiful and free! Watch out for the wild chickens and their babies in the parking lot. Yikes. This grocery store has everything you need, but of course at MAUI prices. I went to the deli and was curious about the different pokes. The butcher back there was super helpful! He asked if i wanted to try some stuff - um, yes! absolutely! I tried at least 3-4 different poke styles until i settled on the one with tuna and seaweed. so good. I also picked up some kimchi shrimp. I found a premade salad near the front, not in the veggie section. They have a lot of sushi options for grab and go, but you can also get it made fresh if you wait. They have a large hot bar like any whole foods would; the options looked delicious. Things like sliced turkey were so expensive, but like i said, MAUI prices. If you have a frequent shopper card, don't forget to use it at checkout. if you don't, sign up for one real quick. the savings are real. The high noons were going for $35 a box - yikes. My buddy saved at least $50 by signing up and all he was buying was high noons, beer and prosecco. My husband did not enter our phone number at checkout, so we did not save any money. We had selected two sale items, but apparently you don't get the sale without the shopper card. I had no idea until I saw his receipt later that day. I took the receipt back the following day, to customer service, and I explained the issue about the shopper's card, and they basically said - how much do we owe you? So I said about $9. Well, she gave me $11 back with tax as well! Hahaha. I guess what I was asking for was more difficult to do versus just giving me a random refund. either way, I was happy to have the money back. We visited the Safeway a couple times during our stay in Maui. Don't forget to bring your own shopping bag. read more

Vons/Albertsons/Safeway, all the same. We visited this Safeway in Lahaina to grab some food and beverage for our condo we were renting for the week. The store anchored a multi-business stip mall with a good-sized parking lot. Even still, parking was a bit of a challenge. Whoa! The prices! Crazy expensive! 12-pack of Maui Brewing Bikini Blonde was nearly $27! Becky's seltzers were even pricier. Bottled water was nuts too! The store itself was clean, well-organized and well stocked. The employee at checkout was friendly. I punched in my phone number at checkout and received the applicable (Vons) member discounts. read more

I always thought Safeway was a good value in Lahaina, but I was so wrong. My wife and I shopped prices with Foodland Farms across the street and found Foodland lower priced on most items and their produce and fish is so so much fresher and nicer! Some items were ridiculously overpriced 12 pack of Pepsi Real sugar Safeway was $12.99 unless you bought 3 at price regular price and received 1 free. 4 -12 packs That's what I need Foodland Farms $6.99! Almost half. Shop Foodkand before Safeway, I surely will. Maholo read more

I just bought a packet of Lays salt n vinegar chips as I had the munchies, opened them in my car and they were full of live beetles crawling around. This is the 4th time I've experienced this with purchases at this Safeway, once with dog treats, twice with pasta and now chips. I had to throw out all my pantry and bug spray because of these bugs (chemists beetles), as they lay eggs and are hard to get rid of and they spread!! Pasta is the worst! I won't buy anything from Safeway not that isn't frozen or in a see through packet so I can check for beetles. Ugh. They need to fumigate the store! Just like I'm getting my home sprayed :( read more

This store was a little on the congested side. Parking was mostly full and it took some time to find a spot to park. The cashier that I stood in line for was slow and others at different checkouts got through much faster than I did. There was plenty of fresh fruit and flowers for sale. There's a huge variety of cheeses and alcohol for sale. The fruit was also in great condition, no immediate mold on raspberries. So that's a huge plus. It's not a low price store, definitely on par with a Carrs or Albertsons read more

Safeway stores are more expensive than most of their competitors. This branch in Lahaina is no exception. Still, there are good deals to be found if you look hard enough. Also, make sure to download their App and sign up. More savings can be found there as well. The store itself looks spic and span clean. Merchandise is well organized. Shelves are fully stocked. Cashier was cordial. read more

This Safeway consistently overcharges above the marked shelf prices which are already outrageous. im not taking about one item jn your cart im taking about almost all items in your cart. its worth the drive to the airport to get fair pricing and prices that match the shelf. read more

This is a very popular Safeway and it is difficult to find a parking space. It's a large store, much larger than the one in our hometown. The prices were not all that unreasonable. In fact, with Member savings, my yogurt was the same price as back in California. Other prices were higher, but not jaw droopingly so. We bought some items in the deli for a couple of meals. We tried a couple of local items, such as a Kale Bean salad. I have no idea what Kale beans are, they were interesting. We also tried a ube potato salad. We ordered a couple of made-to-order sandwiches. They were out of most bread choices but the choice of toppings was large. The woman making my sandwich was a bit grumpy, but she made a good sandwich. read more

This place was conveniently located by our hotel so we stopped by to grab some groceries before we got to the hotel room. It was after the tsunami scare so they didn't have much essential items but that was okay, since we already got those. I signed up for their card since it seemed everything I was buying was on sale only if you had their card. You have to clip the digital coupon before you buy it and some price tags say 4x points..it was confusing to keep track of everything you were buying, but I figured it out and was able to save like $50 after spending over $200. Everything was so overpriced I couldn't believe it. How does anyone survive living here?! read more

Great store with most things you will need. Prices for me seem similar to California prices. I ordered for pick up on the way to our hotel. We then stopped in another day to grab a few more items. Chickens roam the parking lot. The kids loved that. read more

Last night I had a very unpleasant experience at the Safeway in Lahaina during self-checkout. After purchasing one bag, the cashier named Shanning did not give me the bag I paid for. When I asked why, and mentioned that other stores like Foodland or Times Market do not charge 15 cents, her response was extremely rude. She told me that if I didn't like it, I should go shop at another supermarket and asked why I was buying here. This was very disrespectful and unprofessional behavior toward a customer. I hope Safeway management addresses this issue immediately and corrects her behavior, as this is not the level of service customers should receive. Mahalo. read more

Worst store ever. High prices and shitty, shitty, shitty service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like to shop Safeway. This Safeway in Lahaina is huge and it has everything you need. The young lady working in the floral section was super friendly. She assisted me with my balloon order. They were limited to only 1 congratulations balloon. It's a bit more expensive than usual but I had to have them. $6.99 for the Mylar Congrats & $7.98 for 2 simple balloons . If I'm in need again, I'll definitely stop here. read more

Thank you to the bakers who made our wedding cake happen on time. There was a mishap on the order and it was going to be a day late for pick up. The aunties in the kitchen accommodated us and handled it very well. It wasn't their fault that the order was placed wrong, but they knew how to handle the situation. I got to pick up the cake on time for the decorator to complete on time before the wedding. Thank you for the amazing customer service and being so professional. Their cake displays looked delicious and stunning. They make the best tres leches cake in town. We also ordered a sheet of tres leches along with our wedding cake and it was phenomenal. The kitchen looked well maintained and clean. We definitely recommend Safeway Bakery if you need a cake. Thank you for the great customer service. read more

I was so glad to see that they had a Safeway on Lahaina since sometimes you need odds and ends like mayo, mustard, etc. And then, of course the Starbucks is inside which I wrote a review on already and it's kind of a one stop shop this little shopping center in Lahaina. Cannery Row. So yeah if you're in Lahaina and you need some good Safeway place to go. read more

The poke here is incredible! Try them all. We did and loved it. Faves were the spicy and the seafood! Yum!

Staying at a condo nearby with a kitchen? Tired of paying to eat out? Forgot to stop by the Costco by the airport and don't want to drive all the way back? (Or maybe you don't even have a Costco membership...) Well Safeway has you covered. It's a good alternative stop for groceries... and I like the poke here. Don't get me wrong - Foodland is a great local option and Tamura's is the GOAT of deli poke shops on this side of Maui, but if I need to grab cheaper groceries then the tubs of poke from the seafood counter are enough to kill 2 birds with one stone. While some poke are previously frozen, they do have fresh options that are clearly labeled. If I just want the typical options like spicy salmon... I get it here. It's good and consistent. The scallop poke is also great with the sesame flavor. Docking a star because the parking lot is a bit of a mess when it gets busy, as there are other popular stores in the area like ABC stores. This Safeway seems to run out of gallon tanks of water quickly... we came late at night when they were restocking, but whenever we stopped by during the day I would notice they ran out, so something to keep in mind. read more

Glad to know that after the Lahaina fire this Safeway is open and available for the West Maui community. They have a great wine and cheese section for beach picnics. But most importantly everything you can find at a mainland Safeway is available here. Customer service is great when you need assistance and over this is clean environment. Due to the recent water restoration there are still outdoor porta potty and sink options in use. read more

This safeway has pretty much everything. The produce section is good. If you want some good fish and meat tho just go to foodland or their asian food market. The service is absolutely terrible here. We paid cash at one of the self checkouts and the machine didnt give us the 29 cents back that we were owed which was whatever... we didnt really care about the 29 cents. The lady working the self checkout was absolutely rude and said "you guys paid with cash? thanks so much for breaking my machine!" We were just shocked at that response we didnt know what to say.. like uhm you're welcome? And then when we went back to buy more groceries and pay at the main checkout, the lady scanning our groceries was throwing/tossing our items onto the counter after scanning and clearly didnt give a crap about our stuff, especially the eggs. You dont toss eggs! And we tried talking to her and then she just kept ignoring us and rolling her eyes and huffing and puffing while scanning our groceries and tossing them aside. Seems like some burnt out people working here and unfortunately taking it out on the shoppers. We have never had issues like this before, when shopping here. We were truly surprised and disappointed. This is not the aloha way read more

Very clean store including the restrooms. Great service by employees. Convenient. Great sales and coupons.

Quality/Quantity - Back to one of our favorite places to get poke, a hidden secret! And since Costco did not have the beer I wanted, I got it here!! Atmosphere - Good size parking lot, but always full, so be safe. Propane, business delivery, DMV kiosk, Redbox, Western Union. Drive up & go, curbside pick up. Bakery, Deli, Starbucks, Produce, Meat & Seafood, Floral departments. Service - Open 24 hours. Liquor department closes at 11:59pm. Price - Hawaiian prices, be prepared to pay more than the mainland. Owner Comment - We will come here often to get our fresh snacks and meals throughout our stay in Maui. Congrats on your success at this location since 1963. The best thing about the Safeway Store on Maui is Melinda. Melinda is an incredibly talented florist. Melinda has allot of knowledge about the plants and flowers that are in the store. She can guide you to exactly what you're looking for whether type of flower, colors, longevity, fragrance and so much more. Melinda is a great asset for Safeway. Shes not only knowledgeable but very friendly too. I always look for Melinda when I'm looking for flowers, which seems to be frequently. ***** Five stars for Melinda read more

It killed me that they've changed most Safeways in SoCal to Vons so when I saw this one here in Maui k was glad to go in because it used to be my favorite store to go to. This is a good grocery store (its a grocery store). The first thing you have to get used to here on Maui and I'm sure Hawaii as a whole is Sticker Shock. Things cost A LOT more here than on the mainland. That being said, This store has everything I looked for, EVERYTHING! They have a huge selection of product choices. They have an INCREDIBLE selection of wine, beer and spirits. They have a bakery, a deli. They have a coffee shop. The service here is no better than any other grocery store. I found it hard to find assistance a couple of times. So with all that going for them it would be a perfect store. EXCEPT its the best place to get groceries in town and the parking lot cannot accommodate the business. Last time I was there it took me more than 15 minutes to find a place to park. I thought about selling my spot when I was done to offset the costs. But the store is Clean. The staff is friendly and helpful when you find them. The shelves are well stocked. I'm sure I'll go again, just have to pick a less busy time. read more

Safeway - WOW - $45 in Sacramento - Grocery Near Me - Lahaina, Hawaii

The store overall is awesome. My complaint is to the meat department. Bought beef tenderloin filet steaks and when I got back to the condo they tried to hide a lot of garbage on the bottom of the package you couldn't see. Had to trim off a lot of excess fat and tendon. See pic of one I trimmed with junk at upper right of pic and 1 not trimmed yet. So disappointing read more

Horrible quality control. I've seen items 2 years expired on the shelves and still occasionally make the mistake of buying something that is expired. The most recent example is grabbing some ready made risotto from one of the main deli shelves, only to find it was already expired. read more

This looked like an older Safeway; at least compared to some of the newer ones with more modern/trendy exteriors. But it still had a large selection of everything you come to expect from Safeway. I got 20 pieces of their chicken nuggets, California ahi poke, and a mixed fruit bowl. The California ahi definitely had a different taste from the Foodland Farms California ahi, which is my favorite. It still tasted delicious and was heavy on the onions. The nuggets and fruit bowl were okay-- good but nothing exceptional. Overall, definitely appreciated the convenience of having all these different eats in one place. read more

We're from Kahului and decided to check out this Safeway since we were in Lahaina. Never again! Full of tourists, crazy layout of the store, and the deli department should be investigated. I ordered the 16 fried chicken piece combo meal from deli. The worker there (tall, blonde, Caucasian female) was so slow and simple minded. She kept saying we don't have chicken breast I can't give you 16. Idc about chicken breast, I just need 16 piece of whatever fried chicken you have smh. Then I ordered Mac salad. Upon scooping Mac salad she pulled out a hair strand from the potato salad that was nearby. I ALMOST PUKED!! She says "You didn't see that" I told her "yea I actually did and I hope you take that whole tray out!" She hesitated and then said "oh yeah I better take it out now before I forget" like wow!! I was appalled. It seemed like she didn't wanna throw away the tray and that this isn't the first time this had happened. Just seeing how finding this strand of hair seemed ok to her I immediately told her nvm no need on these salad I ordered. This was on a Friday evening around 6pm. And for the fried chicken I ordered, the most hard and stale chicken I've ever tasted. Waste of $22. Never again will be ordering from this deli here. Please do better with the cleanliness and the food at the Deli. read more

When my wife and I are looking to really relax and reconnect, Hawaii is always at the top of our list. There is nothing like being in a place that takes you away from the "hustle and bustle" that takes place on the mainland, it literally forces you to slow down (the max speed on the highway is 45 MPH)! Upon arriving in Maui, my wife and I thought it would be a good idea to do some grocery shopping. Since we were staying at an Airbnb with a full kitchen, we figured that we should make the best of our housing and safe some cash by cooking our own meals (on occasion we did indulge in the local restaurants). We stumbled upon this Safeway store that was located 15 minutes away from our room. If you have ever been to a Safeway, you will not find anything terribly remarkable about this location. However, we were enamored by the alcohol section that offered some beer, wine, and hard liquor that is exclusive to Hawaii (unless you want to pay the upcharge fees of purchasing this at your local Total Wine). This not only saved us from running up ridiculously high tabs at local bars, but also allowed for us to travel back with some Hawaiian drank (sorry I couldn't help myself)! As a tip (I will add this to the official "tip" section later), I HIGHLY recommend opening a Safeway rewards account prior to visiting this store. The difference between the non-member and member prices are substantially different, especially when purchasing multiple items. Need an example? Prior to entering our Safeway Rewards card information, our transaction was $229. After entering the Safeway Rewards information, our transaction was reduced down to $134 (that's a saving of a whopping $95)....your welcome! read more
